New Game: Acromania - 7/12 @ 10PM EST

I want to try a new game here on Victory, it's a social one, no killing things, no zoning, just you and some friendly competition. When I played it on WorldsAway we called it Acromania and it's something I've thought of bringing over to CoH for four years now but never got around to organizing, so tomorrow I want to give it a run.

[u]How It's Played[u]

The goal of Acromania is to create a sentence using a string of random letters. You have to use each letter as the first letter of each word and must be used in the order they are given.

For example, "[u]LPIH[u]" could be made into "Larry Pulls Imogene's Hair" or "Lucky Pink Idiots Howl." The goal is to be creative as you can.

Each game consists of a set number of rounds ranging from 10/15/20 rounds, depending on what the host of the game chooses. At the start of each round the host will announce the string of letters being used for the round and approximately five minutes are given for each round, or for speedier games one minute.

Entrants submit their sentences via the email function to the host. Once the time for entrering is up the host then lists the submitted entries in order with a sequential numbering (#1, #2, #3).

Once all the entries have been listed the participants than anonymously send their vote of their favorite phrase to the host in the alloted time given via ingame e-mail. Once the time is up the host gathers the votes and tallys them up. Whichever sentence has the most votes wins the round and the entrant who submitted that phrase wins 1 point.

At the end of all the rounds the person with the most points wins the game and wins the jackpot.

[u]Entering the Game[u]

In order to play the game an entrance fee must be paid, that amount chosen by the host, and the entrance fees thus become the jackpot of the game. So if the entrance fee is one million and twenty people play, the jackpot becomes twenty million.

In order to compete in the game, to submit phrases and vote, you must pay the entrance fee prior to the game starting.

[u]Submitting Sentences[u]

At the start of each round the string of letters is given, ranging anywhere from three to ten letters. You must form a sentence using those letters as the beginning of each word in the order they are given.

Example: the string is "ABCD" and you must form a sentence in this format "A Bright Colored Deathstar"

You can use punctuation but you cannot mush words together (I.e. ANoseyGirl Bit Charlie'sSmelly Dentures).

Phrases are submitted via ingame email with the title of the round that is being played (Round #1, Round #2, etc. etc.) - this makes it easier to track submissions and reference them. You may only submit one sentence per round.

[u]Voting[u]

When it is time to vote you pick your favorite phrase by the number located next to it (i.e. #1 or #12 or #14) and you submit your choice to the host via ingame e-mail with the title "Vote." You may only vote once per round and you may not vote for your own phrase.

Also, voting is monitored, so voting every round for your friend's entry or having them voting for yours will be noticed and anyone caught engaging in cheating behavior will be removed from the competition and will not be refunded their entrance fee.

***************************

So, if anyone is up for playing this little game I will be running it tomorrow @ 10PM EST in front of the University in Cap Au Diable. There will be no entrance fee but I will only take the first twenty people who register with me - this will be a test run. Depending on how this goes this may be a recurring ingame mini-game that I host.

If you have any questions please ask!

I loved this game when it was an online game called Acrophobia by the makers of You Don't Know Jack, about 10 years ago. Berkley games I think.

Will you have music and big blue letters for the acronymns?

Having never used the email function except to delete spam, is there a quick, click-on-the-player option? Or do you have to type in the person's name?

I believe you have to type in the person's name, but since we have the copy and paste function available that could make it easier.
