  1. Grats. Though I do agree with Tealeaf that the holiday has affected forum participation, I honestly had no idea what the thread was about. I just clicked on it to satisfy a bit of curiousity.
  2. Plinked around, made a build, read Rangle's comments, and then made adjustments where necessary (the Oblits). I did keep one set of 5 in BA just for the bonuses though. The order of powers/slotting can be shifted around - I was more interested in the end product.

Added a few powers and dropped a few. No purps. Let me know what you think, I'm trying to improve my Mids-fu.

  3. I've got a WP/SS tank, decent frankenslotted build with no purps, and has an almost perma rage. I can (and have) literally gotten up and left the room in the middle of a fight while surrounded by enemies. Damage-wise he does decently until the rage wears off and repops, but he can survive a serious beating without much concern on my part.

I'm something of a casual player, so the laidback play/fight style is fine with me most of the time. I've also got a couple of claw/reflex scrappers and stalkers that I play when I'm in more of an aggressive mood - just to revel in the amount of damage they cause paired with the narrow death escapes they frequently have. Honestly, pick whichever one suits your playstyle/mindset more - you'll enjoy your time playing your character more.
  4. As pointed out earlier, I was missing something.

    Problem fixed.
  5. Muahahaha!

    Would've happened a bit sooner, but I'm a bit of a slacker.

Thanks for all the advice posted in this forum.

Now to start work on hitting the cap...

BTW, thank you Smurphy about your post sometime back about buying respec recipes. I too bought some of them (65M per) and sold them for 130M - 150M each.

Next time I'll buy cheaper, I promise.

    Channel Question

Aha. Possibly then - although I wouldn't think that it would/could be found on a channel search. Since the channel is (I think) information based and not SG based, would it be considered rude to kick back and listen? Or is the flag on my name preventing me from seeing any posts on the channel as well?

I don't want to tick anyone off, just looking for a channel on Justice with some chatter on it.

    Thanks for info.

    Channel Question

I'm currently playing on a new (to me) server and was looking for a channel to join. Did a search based on the server's name, got a list, found a description that sounded ok, and joined, no problems. I scroll down the list to see if I recognize any global names and notice that there's a great big white square to the left of my global. What does it mean?

I'm not familiar with the intricacies of channel set-up etc, and I just got done writing a long English paper. Brain too broke to talk to/ask live peeps about square without the current possibility of sounding stupid/being irritating, so I'm posting instead (preview post function is my friend).

    Thanks for any info.
  8. I still had my account set up for auto-renew for 1 year, got the badges (so I was eligible), didn't think anything of it (busy due to classes, the massive tidal wave of end of Fall semester college homework, personal life, etc.). Honestly didn't pay any attention to the offer - was on auto-renew and I'm really not a badge hunter. Didn't notice until today that I didn't get my 2 free months rewarded. Anybody else have this happen? Sifted through this thread, but didn't see it mentioned.

Yes, sent letter to support today - I'm not too concerned about the badge or the beta access - just the 2 freebie months.

    Soft Caps

I've been reading up on some controller types (mind/kin, ill/rad), and, if I remember Local Man's guide correctly, his thought on ill/rad was that you've got ranged attacks for a reason - you should be hanging to the back, sides, anywheres but near the melee area. On a couple of fire/kin threads they mention soft-capping, but not PVP. Should I assume that any controller builds that have soft-caps are for PVP, or are there some types of controller builds that have fewer ranged attacks so you need to get closer to melee and therefore need the protection?

I'm used to playing tanks, so I know what soft-caps are, I'm just not sure how important they would be on a controller - unless it's more of a playstyle choice.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

  12. My Mids-fu is so-so, but I was trying to come up with a decent build too. I ended up scanning through the tanker forum and tried to come up with a build that incorporated the comments that I saw. No purps, but it does have LotGs and Numinas. Maybe we can get some feedback on this one and then work out a better build.

  13. A few weeks back I took advantage of the recipe drop problem and decided to spend my time playing/learning the market until the drops got fixed. I started out buying cheap lvl 50 IO set recipes, worked up to lvl 50 IO recipes, and then started crafting and selling the more expensive IO set enhancements. Because I actually wanted to keep track of the market's fluctuations I started keeping notes regarding my buying costs, and then my posting and selling amounts. Everything seemed to make sense until I got to the purples. The recipes for some would be as high or higher than the crafted enhancements, sometimes they'd be too close to make any money on, etc.

My big question is : is it ever worth buying (through WWs) a purple to flip, or should I wait for my toon to become a high enough level to get them on a nomal drop/through merits?

Currently she's lvl 11 and has approximately 300 mil with stuff waiting to sell (haven't been on much this last week).

    Thanks for info

Thanks for the builds, advice, and links. I ended up making a build with some purps and a little bit of frankenslotting. I think it'll work out, though I might end up making a few revisions.

    Mind/Kin build

I mean, i could posts dozens of possible builds, but they may not be good for YOU unless I know what kind of concept or playstyle needs you have. Do you want to slot for recharge? Or accuracy? Or extra damage? Do you want to franken slot so each power is the best it can be w/out bonuses?

    I need specifics!
I mostly solo, although I randomly run with PuGs, and go on the occasional TF. I normally take SJ for travel, sometimes fly, I don't know what the abreviation APP means, and would prefer a decent stamina rate (no chain-popping blues). I've only got one other troller I'm running (a lowbie as well), so I'm not sure where my priorities should be (dam vs acc vs rech vs etc).

Frankenslotting is perfectly fine, and I've been working on my marketing abilities, so some purps in the build are fine.

Sorry about the late response - homework/real life junk

    Mind/Kin build

Could someone please post a Mind/Kin build? I'd prefer one without purples, but will hopefully need one of those sometime in future as well. I'd try, but my Mids-fu ain't the greatest.

    Thanks
  17. I'm running a WP/SS and trying to make a decent build on Mid's. I know that high regen/recovery numbers are good, and so are dam res followed by def. The one thing that I've noticed is that on the builds with high recov/regen the accuracy/haste/to hit numbers are low, and vice versa. Is this more of a playstyle variation, slotting difficulties, or what?

I'd like to make my tank as tough as I can, but I'm wondering how the balance between the two areas work out, and how it will affect survivability/playability.
  18. Sorry - I didn't make myself clear: was trying to make the macro for my toon, not my pets. Should this command be a keybind instead?
  19. I tried looking up how to do this in the Wiki pages, and could get it almost to work. I can get the basic bow to work, but I can't get the Fancy Bow to work for anything. I know the basics of macros (simple pet commands), but this doesn't seem to be happening, no matter how long I mess with it. Any ideas?
