Purchased a new SSD for my system a fews days back. Installed windows, all the newest drivers including AMDs 11.6, then CoH. That's all I have on my system at this point. The game runs like crap. The game freezes sometimes for a fraction of a second, other times I have to kill it in task manager.
Just installed 11.4, everything seems good so far. Stay away from 11.6! -

Quote:My home is Freedom and I challenge you on a fire/kin to out survive me. I have 2 corrs a fire/kin (made in the early days of CoV) and a fire/cold. I know both well, so bring it!For solo situations, I suppose Sleet means something. But as stated in other threads, a Controller or Dominator is likely going to make Sleet and associating powers lose that luster. But this is threading more into the "Dark Miasma > Cold Domination" debate.
That aside, if we're going to get into that, we can say /Kin provides a lot of damage mitigation by merit of "Instantly Melting Everything And Everyone."
For early level shenanigans, I guess the moment you get Sleet is when Cold Domination's mitigation begins to shine. Which is... 35. This is 3 levels before Fulcrum Shift, so three levels of the superior advantage. Also, at this point, you're probably no longer soloing. If you are, well, eh.
Once you hit 38, the power of Fulcrum Shift is going to provide more mitigation than Freezing Rain. Again, by merit of "Everything ever dies forever.". Although Freezing Rain has it's -Res component, but eh.
Oh well. Sort of a wonky debate, so let's put it up as such;
Cold Domination does not provide as much build freedom as Kinetics does, in options of not having to sacrifice as many IO sets for Recharge and +% Damage.
Cold Domination has a better safer solo tools pre-soft caps.
Both sets are valuable.
And, no. Kinetics is "Kill them before they blink", not "Kill them before they kill you." ;P Fulcrum Shift is THAT retarded.
My global is @Fantacy
Edit: I'll go a bit more and bet you 1bil I can out live you on a map we agree on! -
While I like this to a degree, and will prolly start playing my support ATs more, I'm torn as to if this is a QoL improvement or a further dumbing down of the game.
Given I do a lot of speed teams I'm happy -
-
This has to be a joke on the OPs part.

Quote:I can't spit numbers at you, but if you want to team as a def you should focus on your primary (your damage sucks) A corr on the other hand doesn't have this problem. Really, defs inherent needs a new view by the devs to make them more attractive. How does the Fender 30% +damage inherent compare now to running a Corr? Is there much difference besides the Scourge aspect?
Corrs scorch makes defs damage look like a puss! -

-
I hear ya on that Sparky. I rarely play at lower levels so it isn't a factor for me.
-
Sometimes it boils down to what types of players you team with. I'm always happy if I mesh well with the team I'm on and try to compliment them.
-
BTW, that third recharge in hasten is wasted
-
I guess some of this depends on play style
-
No offense, I could and might do something along those lines, but that doesn't make it a better build (cheaper yes). I'm just trying make a better overall build.
-
If you want to do damage on a defender you'd be better off with a corr. Best corr is fire/cold for what it brings and can do. Fire/Kin is fine if you like hearing "SB Meh"
-
Heh, since we've been on this for a bit I've come up with this build I'd like you folks to look at. It has a few flaws, but all in all I kinda like it. It's got my alpha slot factored in as well. Help me make it better

Quote:Funny how you fail to mention Vigilance in your little passage. No knock to corrs, I have a few I love, but you have a clear bias. Republican I'm guessing.Corruptor always and twice on tuesday. Corruptors do more damage and get comparable buffs. Scourge is great if you have any DOT powers and I can only imagine it is awesome on AR's final power. As a brief aside, I am not actually sure that AR/traps is the best paring, the reason being lots of cones in AR and traps needs to be up close to work. Sure you can setup and pull to you but if you play that way have fun soloing because no team will put up with that playstyle for long.
The only thing defenders have on corruptors is higher defense numbers in the defensive powers (and were talking 1-4% before enhancement) and in debuffs. Also the defender board has been around a long time and most those players dont want to admit their darling 50s are rendered obsolete by corruptors.
It comes down to what is more important to you offense or defense. Its very similar to the comparison between scrappers and tankers (wish I could take credit for this analogy but some genius already pointed it out on the boards). Tankers will live a very long time and are almost impossible to kill...but they do horrible damage just like defenders do (ka-ching two at once I deserve extra internet points for that one). If you are at all an aggressive player you want to go corruptor.
A perfect example is Traps, defender afficionado's will tell you FFG is much better and you get it earlier on a defender, but if you have more offense you dont need as much defense to survive you eliminate the opposition (and gee if only this game had a method for me to increase my defense). Now go ahead and take a look at the damage the trip mine does on the startup screen as a corruptor and compare it to the value the defender gets. If I remember right its 124 to 194 at level 50 unenhanced, I will take the higher damage in this game everyday. It's an important point that many people gloss over, buffs/debuffs are great but offense carries the day in almost every scenario in the game. So choose the AT with offense as a primary and defense as a secondary.
Yes a defender can get higher defense numbers easier but guess what your corruptor can too (sure it will cost a ton in IO's but the option is available). It really comes down to what you want at the end of the day and how you play. You like defense, support and watching other people kill stuff make a defender/tanker, you want to get in there and make some bodies drop then you want a corruptor/scrapper.
Just my 0.02 unless you happen to be a defender troll...then you got me and I am coming to your house burning it down and watching all the beautiful orange numbers scream SCOURGE!!!!!!
Come to my house and burn it down. I have a place in my back yard for you! -
Quote:Heh, news to me. I see 94.93% recharge and 56% to hit from them. Not bad for 3 slots. Originally I had Tactics 6 slotted with Guassian, but after reading what a few others had to say about missing at higher levels I thought Aim might be the better way to go.Quick Question Bubblerella: Why the membranes in Aim? I don't think I've ever heard about any use for them in there.
If I'm missing something let me know Sparky. -
Thought I'd share my latest build with you folks. Not cheap. Maybe not the best(for the influence). It sure is fun! A team friendly build as well.
I put Ragnarok in RoF because I'm usually to busy buffing/debuffing to spam fire ball as much as I'd like.
BTW, with the recharge on sleet/RoF you won't need Snow Storm, excluding AVs to keep them in your debuff.
Mine will prolly cost a bil or more than Capas based on Membranes, Decimations, and the GA proc (saving hero merits for that)
Anywho, here it is.

I'd finish all the things that need done around the house first off. I've kinda been half in, half out the last few months anyway. There was a time time when I'd let some things slip just to play, not so much these days. I still love the game, but I can find better uses of my time as the game stands.
That said, I'll be painting the house in the spring
