Quote:Fire Blast is always a popular choice to go with Kinetics. I also liked my Radiation Blast/Kinetics Corruptor. You can colour the powers however you want.Your avatar fits your post perfectly. xD
In other news, whats a good primary set to go along with corruptor with kinetics? I like the lightning animations, but I feel kinda weak... anything else fun?
But the name you were trying to make, I'd say make the blasts dark purple/blue/black! -
Quote:The random name generator would run out of names to generate within a week. xDI think I will go with elec/kin... I have a character on h-side with kinetics and I like Repulse alot. hehe
I wish the game had a random name generator at the register part. :x
And yes. Repulse is awesome. -
Quote:I suck at making names. I absolutely hate that stage of character creation. But I can try and give you my own advice on the powersets. Also having trouble deciding on a powerset I really want to do as a Corr. Currently I am OCD-fixated on Electricity/Kinetics. Or shadow/pain dom.
From what I've heard and experienced, Electric Blast and Dark Blast are both very meh. I've seen few people use it really well. But if you don't care about numbers/damage/etc, any powerset can be awesome!
Kinetics is a very useful and popular support set. Pain Domination is rather under-rated, but it can be powerful in the right hands.
I hope that helped. -
I don't think, at any point, you should report someone for RPing an "aggressive" or socially immoral character. It's RP. By taking part in it, you're exposing yourself to all sorts of things.
Sure. You can dislike the character. You can avoid RPing with the person if that's all they do as RP. But reporting? No.
If I'm sitting in the D, and some random character walks up and starts wailing on my character, I'd respond back the same way my character would respond back: I wail back at them, or just shrug them off.
I'd also expect the same from other people I RP with. I used to play an extremely feminist character who walked around preaching that men are a disease to society. Doesn't mean I believed in it. But she did, and it was fun. Other characters got mad too, and they all responded accordingly, which made for really fun times, and sometimes very deep, philosophical discussions.
Meanwhile, when I was RPing on the said character, someone (the person wasn't involved in my RP at all; just a random by-stander) sent me a tell, informing me that they're reporting me OOCly for promoting sexism in a public area. Is that justified to you?
In the end, it all depends on you. Do what you like, and avoid what you don't like. If you find someone to be a bad RPer, just one-star them and move along, otherwise stay and RP it out. But personally, I think reporting is for players harassing players. Not characters harassing characters. -

Zombie thread wants brains!!!!
Wait no...
Zombie TROLL thread wants brains! -
Bow chika bow wow!!!
Sorry, I had to. The thread title is incredibly suggestive.
I tried an all-Corruptor ITF. Incredibly fun. -
Are lolpun threads becoming the new "thing" in Virtue?
-
The recent number of zone crashes and general server instability are getting really ridiculous...

Quote:I'm glad it went better for you! Gratz! :)All MM ITF was a complete success. I felt really bad that 2 people couldn't get on the team. See below for details on the next one.
Total Time 1:30.
First Mission we split into 2 team in the caves. Then we proceeded to walk up the hill and take out the ambush and rescuse the princess... wait wrong story rescue the oracle. Things went smoothly.
Second Mission same plan. We split into two teams. At one point an angry minotaur with amazing hitting skills even when debuff slaughtered a few of us but in the end it was the mobs, the cysts and the ambushes all on the floor.
Third mission we just cut a path from the boat to the computer, killing everything in the way. The valley was not laggy and we moved through like butter. For fun we pulled Rommy onto the computer. Thinking back we should have got reqium too. By the time we pulled requim we cleared the top platform as well.
Fourth Mission was a well orchestrated team taking the left path. We cleared every 5th around the platform as well as clearing the platform. We pulled to the grass and I aggroed the healing nitcues. We dropped him with ease. Everyone listened and made it look simple.
I know we had a good number of Darks and two FFs. We havd some robots, demons, thugs and zombies oh my.
As to the repeat performance. SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY 9:00 est again. Preference will be given to Quest and Demon Hunter who missed out. -
Quote:That might actually help, if people can co-ordinate nicely and split up. We realized this after we finished.Thinking about 50 pets in a cave, depending on the team make up, I may split the team into two groups on the second mission.
The major problem we had was during the fight with Rommy. There were so many pets, that he just kept healing off them. I don't remember quite vividly how we managed to beat the equilibrium (we couldn't hurt Rommy, and Rommy and minions couldn't really hurt us). But I think we had people dismiss their melee-oriented pets. So, I'd suggest you plan ahead for the final fight. It was the most frustrating moment. xD -
Quote:It really isn't. Me and my friends tried it once. Absolute headache for two and a half hours. Longest ITF I've ever done, and it was just so chaotic and unorganized. We had a total of around 50+ pets without Gang Wars. It was ridiculous.Sounds like an absolute blast, I hope I can make it home in time to catch a spot!
I hope you guys manage to enjoy it more than I did. Good luck! xD -
What's that? I can't quite hear you over the ARRRRUUUGH!!! UWAAAAAH! and KHRKRHRKHRRKHRKHRHRHKR!!!!!

Quote:OH MY GAWD. I effing HATE that stupid jump that I have to do to get to Market. It drives me insane for no reason at all, especially when I was trying to IO out my character with Super Speed.I can totally relate to this haha.
My main crafting/market character is a "huge" body type character, called Mass Mayhem. He is literally, a hulk. Even his costume has big pointy things and fire coming out of it. I do my crafting in Steel so he would be bounding back and forth between the Uni and WW to buy/craft/repeat.
I got the table a few months ago on a lengthy Saturday play session when I was determined to get the wretched thing....and I STILL go back to the Uni to craft stuff! I'll be right at the door to the Uni ready to craft some shiny new IO and it hits me that I have the stupid little table to save me the 1 SJ it takes to get there lol. It's the little things that just make you want to SMASH!

I don't have the Field Crafter on any of my characters, but I also rage when trying to IO out my characters at 3 AM in the morning just cause I've been looking forward to it for so long, and I have only like, 2 more IOs to go...and suddenly there is no more Alchemical Silver. I just wanna cry. xD -
Another thread on this topic?
Sheesh, I'm almost tempted to join the Virtue's popular channels just to see what all the fuss is about...
I think I should bring popcorn too... -
-
I honestly don't see how there could be -anything- wrong with that. It actually sounds cool.
Personally, I don't think you should bother yourself with any "rules" or "restrictions" when making your character with the one and only exception: Balance. Other than that, people make all sorts of different character, some royalty, some related to CoH lore, some from far away galaxies, and many many more...
In the end, it comes down to what makes you have fun. Do what you want, and seek out people who like what you like! Do that, and you should find no hostility from anyone ever. And if they do show hostility, then they're just intolerant butt-heads. -
The reason Windows Vista and 7 behave like this is because of something called Desktop Composition. It is a feature that gives the Windows UI a lot of power and new functionality. Sadly, however, it is not very friendly with some UI-related applications that were originally designed for older versions of Windows that did not use the new Aero Desktop Composition.
I don't know the exact details, but I do know it has to do with the way windows handles transparent pixels on the Windows UI. Apparently (again, this is just off the top of my head after fiddling with Windows UI for a program I was working on) the standards for handling transparent pixels in Windows XP are different than those in Windows 7 and Vista. If the XP standards are used to draw and use transparent pixels, or "hidden pixels", Windows 7 and Vista draw them as simply black pixels.
The reason CoH acts like this with Desktop Composition may or may not be related to this transparent pixel issue. There can be many explanations. The flash could also be related to this, as CoH probably makes a request to flush the screen pixels and paint over them. -

Quote:That's actually a very, very false statement. Sure, Vista sucks, but not for that reason. Vista is not the "same program". Its UI system differs by several magnitudes than that of XP, and it also brings new functionality and usability features to the operating system. This is why Vista sucks -- same program, entirely different results.
As for taking screenshots from the character selection screen and whatnot, just follow these steps if you're using Vista/7:
1. Set up the scene you wish to take screenshot of.
2. Press the Windows key on your keyboard.
3. Open any application. Anything would do. But open something light with a small window. Command Prompt, a simple Explorer Window, or a Notepad window would be good examples.
4. With the newly opened Window on top, make sure CoH is taking your screen's background. Position it to that it's not blocking the focus of your scene.
5. With the newly opened window on top, press Print Screen on your keyboard.
6. Open Paint.
7. Press Ctrl + V.
8. Crop out the opened window on top, and you should be left with the background, which just happens to be what you were taking screenshot of.
9. Profit! -
Quote:Sleet/Freezing Rain have both faster Recharge and shorter duration. On steam rolling teams that just munch through minions, most battles don't last 45 seconds (duration of Tar Patch). And unless you're running with a lot of Global Recharge Bonus, it means you'd have to wait 30 seconds before each Tar Patch application.I see a lot of people saying this and I don't understand what it is that makes folks claim freezing rain better than tar patch.
Sleet/Freezing Rain can be lowered to around 20 seconds recharge, just in line with Rain of Fire. They last for pretty much close to the same time, which means permanent Sleet/Rain of Fire combo that can be "re-located" every 20 seconds.
That and the added knockdown effect, is delicious.
Edit: Oh and let's not forget the -DEF. -
I have noticed one particular load time issue. It's when first booting up the game (when the small blue bar appears on your system that says "LOADING" before the actual game launches).
It seems to take forever since the most recent patch... -
Is Virtue EVER going to be stable again?
There has been many Mapserver Disconnects in the past few days, and just now, Pocket D 1 crashed. I cannot log into the character that I crashed with... -
Quote:I'm really picky about that sort of thing when it comes to myself. The other day, I was thinking...Taking a few moments to recover from my spit-take, I realize this guy was really claiming to be RPing Satan. Not just ANY demon or fallen angel, or even Hercule Satan, but the FREAKING DEVIL HIMSELF. So... yeah... I humored the guy for a few minutes then ran for dear life out of Pocket D.
We have characters in City of Heroes who are angels. Some are devils. Some are fallen angels. Now these are all what I'd categorize as "biblical" figures; or at least related to the common definition of god, heaven, and hell...
Now what happens if one of these characters interacts with an atheist? Wouldn't it make the atheist simply a dumb, dense non-believer? Cause wouldn't an angel that has descended from heavens be living counter-proof to a potential atheist character's philosophy?
Personally, I try to solve that dilemma by simply making my "demonic" characters be "aliens" from another "dimension" that looks very close to what "humans" consider "hell" or some other place that is populated with beings that share many traits with "common definitions" of "demons" and "angels". Same for angelic characters. But I've never played an angel.
Just something I thought I should share. Feel free to discuss the dilemma! -
I can already see this thread going down in flames. But here it goes...
My pet peeve is when some random, currently-popular pop song turns into a "theme song" for a few billion characters.
I never knew Lady GaGa's Bad Romance touched so many genres and characters with its deep, powerful, and enlightening lyrics and harmony...
I think the idea of a theme song is kindda silly to begin with. But sometimes it can be fun. And I've done it once myself. So I can't criticize!
