Hope i'm not heading off topic here but since we are talking about sexism and comic books and this is also related to CoX... why don't we have the Gigantic body type for women? This is not a dig at the devs but when there's one option for boys and one option for girls, doesn't sexism come into it a little bit? It's very hard to make a female character anything but luscious, boob slider down to 0, waist slider all the way up, hip slider all the way down and they still have an hour glass figure.
Surely diversity is the key? -
Why i love My Brute...
Built him as a concept character. Found out War Mace had a bone option so took that (he's called Bone - Daddy) and knew nothing about the power, what a great set! He's got a skull head and is a Voo Doo type living dead kinda guy. His mutation is he jumps, breaks his bones then wrenches them out of his body to smack mobs with. Dark would have been the obvious choice for his secondary but i'd already played /Dark on a Scrapper and i try never to use the same power twice. I took / Elec, as that sort of fitted with his being reanimated from the dead... again, what a great set, especially that it blooms later, giving you something to look forward to. I hadn't done any research on either power set but just out of concept i created a brilliantly fun character to play.
I'm glad you're enjoying yours IshshaChets, Brutes Rock! -
I played my first 50 the other day too, first time in years, a Gravity/ Bubble Controller. I had to recolour her powers, change her powers because of inherent fitness, get some new costume parts and even had to borrow some inf off another alt to pay for some SO's, just to kit her out. She solo'd abysmally but it was fun to reacquaint myself with what her powers did again. I was just about to pack her away when i got a purple drop that i then sold for 400 million, good old girl is still treating me right and so i'll keep her and pull her out in another couple of years no doubt.
She also had quite a few accolade powers that i must have spent ages getting and never bother with anymore, i guess i really put a lot of care and attention into her, even though this was before IO's or the market or all the things you put time into now. She's like an old friend. -
Hey,
my question is about Widows, specifically Summon Widow. Is she worth it? I have pretty good global recharge and figure i could have her up quite often and since i'm /Elec, my damage taunt aura would keep a lot of heat off her back. I just would't want her running off getting herself killed like so many pet are inclined to do. Any thoughts? and if so, any ideas on slotting?
Thanks

Hi, just thought i'd add a little update here. Was a couple of months since i posted my question and the help was great (thanks forums) Bone - Daddy now has about 32% defense with his already pretty good Resist. I've earnt well over a billion, have bought IO's that i always thought out of my reach and does it make a difference? Hell yeah. For me it's meant raising my difficulty and the amount of mobs i can deal with, which means levelling faster. He's absolutely become my favourite character to play and although far from invincible, i feel Super and for a Super Hero/Villain game, that's gotta be worth it.
Once again i thank all those who helped for their help and for any amongst you wondering whether it's worth it to go an expensive route, my answer is yes and it doesn't have to be a chore. I wouldn't do it for every char but for those it will make a difference to, go for it. The benefits can be amazing.
Peace

Hear hear!
... and i was about to apologize for not spelling Oro.. Ouro... Oiro thingy not right but it appears everyone has the same problem as me.
It's probably not intended to be an inter-dimensional train station but frankly, it is and if they combined it like they have the ferry and train lines, we'd all get around faster and happier, make more XP and be more cohesive. -
No, i'm still a Rogue. I guess that's it then. I just assumed it would change with me according as to where i logged into it from. Ah well, back to the isles then.
Thanks for your answer -
Howdy y'all. I've taken a Praetorian born hero from blue side to red side and my Oroborous Portal changed with me. I've now taken a Rogue Isle born villain to blue side but when in Oroborous i only get red side options for travel and missions.
Am i meant to do something to change it?
Oroborous is pretty but not a place i wish to be stuck, your help is appreciated. -
I've never run a Hami...ever! I stop playing toons at 50 but have just found one that i love and have put a load of inf to make him acceptable. Here's hoping i will post on here in years to come with my experience and advice to people like me, like i appreciate all of your advice and experience.

Is this misinformation? I'v gone red side to get Patron powers and as a Brute, am informed by the Arbiter to read the Plaques. I'm looking for Darkest Night with Ghost Widow (you gotta love her moving hair, when do we get this?... sorry i went off track) but no mention of Darkest Night. It made me go back and forth between wiki to make sure it was a relevant choice. Is this misinformation or non information?

Thanks Geek (and others) I'm 43, so was looking around there, i guess that explains it. Because they were listed i assumed they were available. I'll slot something else but appreciate the time you've saved me looking.
Cheers Breth -
So, i'm having a little trouble understanding these Hamidon enhancements. Thought it would be good to add a couple of Enzyme Exposures to a power but these things just aren't for sale on the market, unless i'm looking at the wrong time.
Can someone please explain to a simpleton what goes on with them?
Thanks as always for your time, trusted and knowledgable friends of the interwibble. -
I actually tried asking Lord Recluse out on a date but he ain't called Lord Recluse for nothing. He put me on /ignore. How rude!
-
Thanks Dragon, appreciate the quick reply, ah well more bloody tips!
Happy New Year -
I'm sure this question has been answered somewhere else but i'm a bit stupid when it comes to searching for threads, forgive me. My problem is this... I'm level 40 (41 actually but i haven't trained up to that yet) I've been blue side and turned vigilante to head red side and get patron powers, unfortunately Arbiter Rein does't want to talk to me. Do i need to be a villain to do this? or if not, what am i doing wrong?
thanks for your advice in advance,
a noob -
You got S/L defence up that much? wow. You've certainly given me food for thought. I was happy at 25% but that's a huge jump, back to the grind of Hero tips i guess (if i rescue one more bloody Longbow from Arachnos or defeat Polar Shift again, i may scratch my eyes out) This is one of the only toons i can see myself playing after 50 because he's so much fun, maybe i just need to put the work in. I really appreciate your thoughts and time on this. Will see what i can come up with.....
and Merry Christmas -
Thanks for the feedback guys. Here i hope is what my build looks like (i've never posted a build before, so it all might go horribly wrong) He's currently 39.
Thanks for reminding me Deus about redraw issues, i think that's helped make my mind up to go Soul, once i whack on Darkest Night i can then just keep the bone out.
If there's anything obviously wrong in the build, please let me know.
cheers

Hi guys,
a bit of advice if you will. I have almost no experience with patron powers and this is also my first Brute. He's a Warmace/ Elec combo and ridiculously good fun to play, so much AoE goodness.
Anyway my question is this... he's got Power Sink and Lightning Field so the foe - end is not bad, do i continue that way and go with Mu for more foe - end or do i go Soul for Darkest night? Concept wise they both fit and i don't have end issues so i could afford DN. Either way i figure i'm mitigating incoming damage but just in two very different ways.
Your thoughts please and thanks in advance -
Hi all and thanks once again for your invaluable feedback, My question of how to raise my defences took me on quite a journey. I've learnt more about that and the market and how to raise inf in a coupla days than what i've learned in the game in 5 years. These forums can be quite amazing and kudos to those that put the time and energy into teaching the rest of us that don't know.
Bone - Daddy now has now raised his S/L defences by 10% and there's more on the way. I've got 150 mill in the bank and know how to make more, that's the biggest gift.
One post i came across was incredible, it's by Fury Flechette and the post is here http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...4&referrerid=0
She goes from 0 inf to over a Billion in a week and it's a lesson we could all benefit from.
Happy gaming
A huge thanks to all those that took the time to help me, it's really appreciated. -
Quote:Hi and thanks for this information, how do you guys even find out this stuff? My noob question once again is how do you convert the 50 merits to an alignment merit and where do i go to spend them? When you switch to rogue or vigilante you lose all alignment merits (hero/villain) so spend 'em first.
When you go from rogue to hero you get normal merits. It is only "reinforcing" hero or villain that gives the alignment merit.
However, you do get 50 regular merits which you can convert to 1 alignment merit. This is universally worth doing. There is absolutely nothing you can get with reward merits that is worth more than the top buys you can get with alignment merits even including the 20 million inf conversion fee. -
First i was afraid, i was petrified,
Kept thinking i could never live without you by my side,
But then i spent so many nights, thinking how you were so strong,
And i how i long, how i long to be strong.
And so youre back, from outer space,
And im so glad to see that pretty aura and that whirling mace,
Baseball bat in hand you stand, looking just so damn pretty
I can only feel sorry for the skulz and the poor dumb fambly.
Yes you, you will survive,
For as long as you know how to bash, i know youll stay alive,
Youve got all your life to live, youve got all your life to give,
You will survive, you will survive. -
Hi again all and thanks really for all your input, it's given me lots to think about. I hate sounding like a noob but when it comes to IOs i am... I've been doing my tips and got my first Hero Merits, where the hell do i trade these things? I've been to the merit trainer person thingy and see no option for trading my Hero Merits for anything.
Regarding all of your suggestions, i think i'm going to go the Recharge/ HP/ Regen route, I've got Energize and it seems silly not to exploit this. I'll get a Steadfast Def, prob a Numina unique, some Reactive Armours for my shields and i guess Smashing Haymakers or Kin Combats for my melees if i can be bothered putting in the hours... i still want to enjoy playing and teaming and don't want to do just tips.
As a side note, i've had my other toons at it as well to get there a little quicker, my Scrap did a hero morality mission and got 50 merits but no Hero merit, where as my Corruptor did the same thing and got the Hero Merit, is this normal?
cheers again, i appreciate your collective knowledge. -

I need to reply, thanks so far, the feedback has been great. I'm running a 31 Brute without the fitness pool, i know it's unheard of but i built him thinking i19 was the next day, two months later i can't stop playing him and i'm gasping for air. End is a huge problem but War Mace (or my bone) mitigates beautifully and i can get away with running only Static Shield if i'm careful.
I currently have a Steadfast Knockback Protect in my Static Shield, i should get immob status thingy with Weave, do i need Grounded? I can then free up a slot for Combat Jumping? There are so many choices here.
I see now i need more dosh, it seems to be the way forward. I used to be so happy just to be able to afford the next IOs (yes i'm a Dinosaur) but this is getting overwhelming. Do i need a degree to play this game or can i still just bash stuff up and get killed when i take my eye off the ball?
I rarely play beyond 50, when is the point to stop ploughing cashola into stuff and just say "i'm average?"
btw i'm not average, my costumes and superior game play make me exceptional!
(add dry comments here) -
So you're saying Luck of the Gambler is my salvation and all this time it's been my downfall, i've been relying on random rolls and getting diddly. Your tactic entrigues me Jim_G and i thank you for your insight. Have been playing this wretched game for 5 years and only ever had 2 drops worth more than 50 mill.
Watch out CoXers, Baron Bone - Daddy is coming!
