As for name calling, well...what Deebs said, really. This has absolutely sod all to do with ' politically sanctimonious'ness and far more to do with 'Less cheesecake and more actiony stuff like jackets, cool hats and holsters please'.
Then why not say "Less cheesecake and more actiony stuff like jackets, cool hats and holsters please." which imo, alot of the packs with the cheesecake fit when it comes to what superhero actiony usually entails, and not "You're sexist I'm going to ragequit!"?

For me personally, it's costume pieces that you're more likely to see in an anime, than in a western comic or you know, in RL!

So, yes, I edited the post slightly, taking out the Celestial armour because it's not a paid for booster. It's a Vet reward.

So, we have a chunk of boosters with specific themes in them at the end. I also don't see the CoT pack as counting, for the simple reason that we knew exactly what was coming in M/F divide. We only had to look at the NPCs to know. There was no surprises or anything like that.

So, for complete sets we have Steampunk, then Barbarian and then Gunslinger.

Steampunk was mostly fine with a 'feh, no jacket' which was a major complaint from the Magic Pack two entire years prior. Surely they should have noticed that back then? Apparently not.
Then came Barbarian, with the first 'This is a bit silly' moment with thigh high, high heeled boots and furry edged skirts and the like.
And then we got Gunslinger. With all that entailed.

That's three complete, themed and paid for packs in a row. That's not 'misrepresenting' anything, really.

Also, Rian, would it seriously kill you to use paragraphs or basic capitalisation? Walloftext is not a pretty thing.
Because it's a vet reward shouldn't be a factor, but oh well.

And so the long trend of universal sets doesn't outwiegh the 3 packs in a row of universal?

Also, I see no reason not to include the CoT either, it's like you're trying to force the three sets to be in a row.

5 sets in a row one way, and you think the trend is the 3 packs in a row of the other way?

It's just becoming more and more like it's a "I didn't get what I want so I'm going to start name calling."

Yes, Gunslinger could of been so much better, they could of went the whole sexy gunslinger route and likely had no complaints at all. They didn't. :/ I know...I wanted those chaps too.

But then I wanted the Barbarian Chest Decal for my main too, but it's limited to males

You know, I tried pointing this out, and people still kept saying all the packs were cheesecake, and I forgot the alpha and omega sets!

They'd even bring up the Witch Costume, and totally forget there's an option to use it without baring any skin.

Basically, all those people may be ruining the chances of getting costume options many others have wanted. :/

Hopefully, the devs will stay the course.

However, it would be kinda funny if those complaining get what they want, only to find the bundle doesn't sell well at all, and the devs go "Well, damn. Back to what we were doing."

Did the gunslinger set suck, since it wasn't very gunslinger for the females? Yes. The devs should take that from everything. Next time you say "Gunslinger" (replace this with the next thing) make sure it's a "Gunslinger"

Especially when they assume that the MM pets would just be bikini girls with guns. I presented several different options of NON-bikini style girls at the Pummit, and felt like I was just brushed off with the "that would objectify the women" and "someone, somewhere, might do something naughty with them".

People brought up that the ERPers would misuse them...but if this is a T for Teen game...they shouldn't even be ERPing to begin with IMO. I didn't like having to explain to my youngest daughter when she hopped onto Virtue (I didn't know she'd jumped from Joyrock's and my home server of Champion) that the people who were messaging her for....things....needed to be reported.

PS: Not dissing on Virtue, I play on there myself, that just happened to be the server she wound up going to. (Please don't get the pitchforks! )
Hmmm...interresting, I found that on every server, not just Virtue.

And you want historicical correctness in a game that's whole historical background is different than the real world.

You know a lot of the recent presidents of the US? Not the recent presidents in CoH. It's like the 90's X-Men cartoon in that way. Even DC/Marvel comics.

The US never had an empororer. Rhode Island is bigger in CoH than RL, due to a massive earthquake that revealed a secret underground city...ect...ect...

Oh yeah, I think we can also agree that such things as Zeus never existed (or if they did, it's at least not the commonly held belief )

And all the talk about costumization, while I wouldn't do it, what if that's what the player wants? Camo Bikini clad mercs!

Any idea that changes a power set based on the gender of your avatar isn't a good idea. Especially when they can do exactly the same thing with a female avatar MM instead of a male avatar MM.

It is yes, but I'm also thinking of some of the other conventions which you're more likely to see in manga.

To name one that has come up more recently. Ninja's with huge frikkin swords! Stalker's getting access to them was first considered "OMG! WHAT? It doesn't make sense!" and there's still people who groan about it.

Defense is spikey, and that forces players to react to changes in damage due to luck.

Resistance, on the other hand, provides predictable and steady damage reduction. It is much easier to play a character with high resistance and much harder for the game to provide those stress moments. For these reasons I think gaining Resistance has to be harder than gaining defense.

In addition, at this point the devs have provided most powerful enemy groups with powers and debuff that counter soft capped defense. It would be much harder to do the same for high resistance characters.

As for +DMG, as long as there are sets and archetypes with damage dilution this mechanic won't work since it's effectiveness varies so wildly in the hands of various archetypes and sets.
I think it would depend on where exactly they're putting the set bonuses for Resist and how much.

I really don't think it would hurt to have a +3% Resists linked to a few sets, maybe one that have a unique in them and the resist bonus is needed to be 6 slotted to obtain?

Maybe make it a bit more than 3%, I dont know really But you get the idea.
  8. Temporal Armor a defense set I thought up and think would be fun to have as the secondary.

With 2 click powers, it's not toggle and go. It's also different from all the other options Melee ATs have. Not to mention, it's also setup to work with Stalkers!

I'll even copy/paste it here. Great part, the animations are in game already and they'd be great animations!

    Temporal Perfection
    Auto: Self, +Regeneration, +Recovery, Accelerated

    Regen: 15% (Self)
    Recovery: 10% (Self)

You are one with the time stream, as such you are able to regenerate and recover energy at a faster rate. You are also in a constant state of Acceleration, allowing any Time Manipulating team members to cast stronger buffs on you without having to Accelerate you themselves.

    Temporal Mending
Click: Self Heal, Heal over Time

    End Cost: 10.4
    Recharge: 60s
    Duration: 6s
    Heal: 24.99%

Mend wounds to yourself and immediately continue to heal for half the amount over the next 6 seconds.

    Bullet Time Vision
Toggle: PBAOE Foe (-Damage, -Speed, -Tohit)

    End Cost: 0.52/s
    Recharge: 10s
    Duration: 1s
    Radius: 8ft
    ToHit: -9.75% (Tgt)
    DamBuff: -12.5% (Tgt)
    SpdBuff: -12.5% (Tgt)

You are able to react to those around you as if they are moving slower, allowing you to dodge more easily and take less damage.

    Quick Response
Toggle: Self +Res (Hold, Sleep, Disorient, Immobilize, Psionic, -Regen, Slow, Teleport), +Speed, +Recharge

    End Cost: 0.21/s
    Recharge: 4s
    Duration: 0.75s
    Res: 15%
    ResEffect: 25%
    +Recharge: 20%
    +Speed: 20%

Your attunement with the Time Stream allows you to avoid mez effects, while keeping your mind constantly shifting, providing a small resistantance to psychic foes.

    Temporal Cloak
    Toggle: Self Stealth, +Defense (All)

    End Cost: 0.26/s
    Recharge: 20s
    Duration: 0.75s
    Defense: 3.75%

By bending time around yourself, you can become partially invisible. While cloaked you can only be seen at very close range. If you attack while cloaked, you will be discovered. Even if discovered, you still maintain a Defense bonus to all attacks. There is no movement penalty, however this ability doesn't stack with Stealth or Invisibility from the Concealment Power Pool.

    Future Sight
Toggle: Self, +To-Hit. +Defense (To All Positions), +Perception

    End Cost: 0.26/s
    Recharge: 10s
    Duration: 0.75s
    Radius: 25ft
    Defense: 8.75%
    ToHit: 6%

You're able to get brief glimpses of the future and what is to come. This allows you to increase your chance to dodge enemy hits, while increasing the chance to land your own.

    Slowed Response
    Click: PBAOE, Foe -Defense, -Resistance

    End Cost: 15.6
    Recharge: 90s
    Accuracy: 75%
    Duration: 30s
    Radius: 10ft
    Defense: -7.5% (Tgt)
    Res: -9.75% (Tgt)

You can manipulate your own Temporal Energies to cause those around you to become slowed and sluggish. This causes them to have decreased defense and damage resistance.

    Rewind Time
    Click: Rez, Special

    Recharge: 300s
    Duration: 60s
    Heal: 50%
    End: 50%
    Regen: +200% (Self)
    Recovery: +75% (Self)
    Pecharge: +25% (Self)
    Speed: +25% (Self)
    Defense: +25% (Self)

When defeated you are able to rewind time, while keeping yourself more attuned with the time stream, allowing for heightened Regeneration, Recovery, Speed and Defense.

    Chrono Phase
Toggle: Self Intangible, +Recharge, Heal, +End, Heal over Time

    Initial End Cost: 20.8
    End Cost While Toggled: .65/s
    Recharge: 360s
Duration of Added Effects: 30s for Heal Over Time, 90s for +Recharge
Duration for Toggled Phase Shift: 30s
    Recharge: +50% (Self)
    End: +15% (Self)
    Heal: 35% (Self)

You can allow yourself to slip through the time stream seamlessly, even managing to remain intangible for a limited time if so desired. The Heal over Time is equal to the initial heal, spread out over 30 seconds.
  9. Love IOs!

I do wish devs would go back and look at the other sets to make them more tempting to the player base however. If that was done, and allowing for multiple ways to achieve the same goals as everyone does now, I think it would go a long way in people using different sets and making them cheaper.

Adding a bit more to the +Resist side and +DMG side would be nice as well.
  10. So here I am...wondering which secondary fits my concept best. Now, I've been using /WP for it for a long time, just not sure if it's the one I prefere for the concept.

Truthfully, Ninja likely is out of all secondaries, but you know, not an option (yet!)

Genetically created, enhanced physical attributes (not so much on the strength) with the concentration being on Regeneration, Stamina, and Agility.

Then comes the unknown x-factor of Time Manipulation...which basically goes a long with enhancing those abilities, as they're very much self focused on herself, and not so much on, well, acting like the current Time Manipulation set of being able to effect others (it's a sub conscience thing on her part).

Now positional defenses really do make the feel of agility. But it's really not an option outside of SR, but SR loses any of the Regen feel.

Could IO SR for as much Regen as possible, or IO Regen for as much positional defense as possible.

Or should I go with EA or stick with WP?

This is all from a concept PoV. Not one of min/max, as I can always do that with IO set bonuses to a point anyways, no matter the concept.

So I'd just like some opinions

Amazon women MMs now please. They signify strength, independence and most of all, no living in a mans world.

    Just had a thought:

If you select male at the character selection screen you should get the tribe of men that once a year had relationships with the Amazon women for pets. They raised the boys.

If you select female then you get the Amazon women.
And then you'd have people crying sexist all over again, and saying limiting of concepts.

Further proof, the devs cant win.

Providing a female-only option with an aesthetic directed towards fanservice and femininity isn't equalising, it's just furthering the idea that men and women must be separate and different.
Ever think it's because people just want a MM set that involves a known CoH enemy group?

And one of the pets could be a Carnie Strong Man...personally I'd want it to be one of the minion level pets, because I picture the Dark Ring Mistress being the boss level pet, buuut, it could just as easily be the Strong Man as the boss level bruiser.
  13. My first thought...

    Have faith in Emma Stone!
  14. It made me laugh. I would have to say that's true on one part though...but I blame the writers for trying to mesh with the original trilogy instead of just starting new.

Mystique...going from being in love with Charles to siding with the guy who just paralyzed him. :/

But then again, she did just meet someone who wanted her for her.
  15. What I want to know is why CoH can go from Superhero MMO to let's open it up to all types of comics...

    Superhero
    Detectice Noir
    Post Apocalypse
    Horror
    Ect...ect...

But then you mention the idea of manga and it's "OMG! NO!"

Yeah, you can kinda create it, but when asking for stuff that centers around it a bit more...GAAAAH!

"What?! Ninja's with frickin huge swords?! I can't wrap my head around that!"

"What?! Short skirts?! Weird hairstyles?! Yada yada yada..."

Makes absolutely no sense to me. Id like to hear a reason for it.

We can get broader variety with more sets, as opposed to wider sets.
I'd rather see the judge it by the set, than a strict gender neutral that's being spouted off.

Electric Melee for Stalkers has 4 AOE attacks. Jacob's Ladder, Chain Induction, Thunder Strike, and Lightning Rod.

Titan Weapons has 4 AOE attacks.

With the idea they have for improving Stalkers, they could just as easily turn Rend Armor into the Assassin Strike. Instead of being effected by Momentum, it'd continue to be effected by the Stalker Changes, since it would now be it's Assassin Strike.

All other attacks in the set would be effected by Momentum as per Titan Weapon's gimmick.

And don't knock Hammerspace! I've used it >_> It's a great techie option. Created small dimensional pockets to store items

I mean, I love Stalkers. They're great fun, and there is something deeply satisfying about Build Up -> Assassin's Strike -> Shin Breaker -> Placate -> Crushing Uppercut laying a boss flat. That said, really? TITAN WEAPONS? What, are you hiding behind the GIANT JET ENGINE ON A POLE? Again, I really do love my Stalkers, and I'm all for the idea of making sure that everyone has access to fun, thematically sound sets, but something about this decision just strikes me as a touch off.

Seriously though, how is the Assassin's Strike going to work? Is it going to be something like holding the thing behind you, then bringing it down in a massive overhead strike?

    ...

Is that in the set already? I honestly didn't play around with it much in beta, but it looked cool... Admittedly, though, if this ended up being like a cone AS, THAT would be interesting. Assassin's Swee... Hmm... Admittedly, Assassin's Sweep just makes it sound like you're stealthily cleaning a room... Which I suppose kinda fits in the given circumstances.

I think I lost my momentum in h... Sonofa, I see what I did there >.<

Right, simply put, I don't see Titan Weapons as a terribly stealthy set, doesn't really fit with the whole stalker idea (it's an AoE-centric set, Stalkers are meant to be, and are truly becoming with I22, the ST damage kings, queens, presidents, and really the entirity of the ST damage Senate, Parliament, etc.). I won't out and out say that it's a bad idea, just doesn't seem like it fits to me. Like they're taking a Fusion Hammer to get the square peg into the round hole. It'll be a much larger round hole at the end of it, and the square peg might not exist anymore afterwards...

That one got away from me, I think. Regardless, I'll take the "wait and see" approach for this one and stop rambling. It's early and I've only just had my coffee.
If stealthy and Titan weaposn don't seem themetic to you, does that mean you think they should make it so Titan Weapons can't be paired with Dark Armor, Energy Aura or the Concealment pool?

Not to mention be unable to be invised by Corrupter, MM, Troller, Defender buffs or the +Stealth IO?

Now this I agree with. But I figure this is more of going along with a cast that they think will have a wider mass appeal.

I mean really, post apocalyptic movies don't tend to do well. They may become cult classics, but it's a risky venture on their part. Though I think a high budget special effects bonanza can likely get people thinking "I HAVE TO SEE THIS!" more than making the cast older.

Well, it's probably more because to this day the American movie industry insists on turning most protagonists caucasian regardless of original ethnicity. (Airbender, Akira, et al.) A desire for greater parity in skin tones that is more representative of the real world (or original source material in many cases) is not completely incomprehensible.
Hmmm...Airbender always looked caucasian to me in the cartoon. Not that I thought caucasian was an ethnicity, as I'm pretty sure there are Asian caucasian and middle eastern caucasians.

Oh, you mean white! Yeah, he looked white to me, in a cartoon that didn't take place on earth! Yeah...the airbender one just never held water imo.

As for Akira, sounds like they're taking the plot, not going for a word for word adaption.
  21. Yay for Stalkers getting Titan Weapons! Hopefully they can speed that along to i22! I'd of course have to reroll, but it's not like I haven't done that many times.

Don't know about the gender equality however they said, less unique pieces comment though. I'd like to know how much of the feedback onthe forums and on facebook was the same people and which wasn't.

I mean YAY! No more skirts! *sarcasm* Maybe listen to the other feedback that said "Just give the female avatars extra outfits, as that gives the player more options period without being a waste, because the player can make use of all the body models and thusly have access to ALL the costume pieces"

I know, it's a way out there idea.

And Whips are a melee weapon! So melee ATs should have access to whips! Why people are saying no to that idea, when they were all "pistols are a ranged weapon" has me confused. Whip contunes to be a melee weapons, so give it to melee ATs.
  22. Let me get this right...before there were complaints that the color of one's skin should be a factor in casting...

    Like in casting Spider-Man!

...now, complaints about not casting to match the counterparts.

Seems to be some back and forth thinking on this subject.
  23. Actually Durakken, I don't mind it when a game's sequal is everything like the original and only different because of the story (you know if I like the story).

I've said it before, I'll say it again, the best console game in my opinion has been Devil May Cry, it played exactly how I liked it to be played and let me do all the things I wanted to do!

Pokemon, I love it, and in fact, when they come up with new innovations for it, I tend to only wish they didnt get rid of an older one.

I of course must like the visual graphics of the game to really enjoy it.

Comics are a bit different. I can enjoy a visually pleasing (to me) comic with a terrible story. I can enjoy a terrible story with displeasing art. I can't enjoy the comic when it has both. Though admittedly, when it comes to comics, I can overlook a bad story more than bad art.

But comics are a visual medium with a hint of story imo. They're not something you go into expecting to read a novel's worth of words. It just doesn't work (imo anyways) for comics.
