If Bioluminence could have a version with just the stripes, it'd be better. Those are some AWESOME stripes!
-
Quote:I think that goes more along the lines of what I said in my post. It's a mutant booster pack that's just going to lend itself to the demon theme's so easily.
Hehe. I wasn't really responding to you specifically. Sorry it came out that way.
As I said, I'd all be for more "animal parts". But I'm gonna frown and sit in a corner hugging my knees just cause this set wasn't -exactly- what I wanted like some people have been expressing their disappointment in this thread and other ones. xD
Maybe that's what they were going for. *shrugs* -
Hmmm...messing with the costume more, would it be possible to put in a Bikini 2 bottom that actually matches up with Organic Armor?
-
Quote:Well I did say...
Then come over to villain side!
In all seriousness though, the amount of pessimism and negativity in this thread is horrifying. People are complaining about how "limited" these costume options are as if any "animal parts" (that phrase is starting to sound a little dirty) they gave us WOULD OH-SO-BROADEN OUR COSTUME CREATION ABILITIES!
At least with these two pieces you can make a whole range of costumes if you're creative, as shown by screenshots in this very thread. What DIVERSE AND OH-SO-CREATIVE things could you make with a pack full of fox tails and dog heads? Foxes and dogs?
I'm not saying an animal pack would be bad. Just we shouldn't start spitting at everything that's NOT an animal-based set...
[b]I have NO DOUBT, a varied assortment of concepts can be made with these new costume sets. I also have NO DOUBT, that what we'll be seeing is a A LOT OF DEMONS. :/[b]
That's not saying a lack of idea that can be done with the pieces. That's a comment towards what I expect to see alot of. Like when Demon Summoning came out, and the majority of toons I saw were black/red comboed demons.
The lack of fox tail comment was just that I've been hoping for it, and figured this was finally...FINALLY...it.
And when it's released and I can put it on my main, I expect to see alot of new foxes.

Quote:Pffft...so not what I meantThis is teh Americas, apparently. You can have as many brutal and bloody finishing moves that involve tearing an enemy inside out but, show even a hint of nudity and woh, WOH, easy there, thats going to damn far now!
*snirk*
Look at my avatar, she's wearing a short shirt, and bikini bottoms
I think you missed the point.

As mentioned before, animations seem to repeat. However, turning on walk stops this, untill you turn walk off, at which time it resumes.

Quote:I don't know. Tough Hide goes with the idea that things are deflecting off you, while Acute Senses is more of defense based off reacting/reflexes.I agree with this. There aren't any RES bonuses from what I've seen so far, so having Tough Hide be +7.5% (or whatever) RES (all) and Acute Senses be +3% DEF (all) would remove the situation where all powers are useful to some powersets but not others.
Much like /SR and /INV are different (RP a side).
I don't see the problem keeping them the way they are now. What they may do instead though, is give Tough Hide a 3% Defense All (Typed) and 3% Resist (All) Benefit instead however. -
/em showoff is just to fast, it looks like you're just spazzing out.
/em growl is cute and all, but let me get this right. CoH doesn't seem to go in one direction for people, but this animation which begs for animal style heroes, fits? o.O
Boil CC...eh, but probably the more mutant-y if not limiting one of the bunch.
Energy Morph...love it, seems more demony and really seems to encourage the "this a demon pack not a mutant pack" of the costume sets.
Dimension Shift...old style sound effect, with a more sciency feel imo. But, eh, mutants and science can go together just fine. Mutant doesn't HAVE to mean born that way, even if the origin says so...look at the TMNT. Mutant turtles not born that way. -
Okay...first off...not what I was expecting. And part of that is really, a big let down.
I have NO DOUBT, a varied assortment of concepts can be made with these new costume sets. I also have NO DOUBT, that what we'll be seeing is a A LOT OF DEMONS. :/
They're really nicely done however. I have an idea for the outfits already.
That's said...
Organic Armor, I just love the look of it when not set Organic Armor Decal. Black base, with a color glow...love it. Want me to LOVE IT? Make a version where it doesn't have the reptile scales to it. The little indents/cracks...put in some putty and smooth it out (as an option of course).
Bio Lumunious...hmmm...yeah...sadly...it (to me) feels like...more nekkid heroes! If you could do a tights version with just the stripes. It wouldn't be to bad, I guess, but as it is, it just looks like more excuses to go around with the naked toons. *shrug*
Which when the excuse for not having the animal parts seeming to be a lot of "does it fit with the theme of CoH" I have to ask, is the theme of CoH "heroes running around with no clothes on"?
Again. It's awesome looking. I was just expecting so much different. Total lack of a fox tail was also a MAJOR let down. -
Quote:Went RAD/DP myself. But yeah, havent seen alot of that combo.Fire or Archery are the all around best "blasting" primaries. (IMO) They both have very good single target and aoe damage. And little else. (no real secondary effects to speak of, though archery IS more accurate out of the shot, fire's dots IMO prove more useful in the end game.)
Fire matures fast. Archery doesn't become the aoe powerhouse until you get ROA. (34, to get and fully slot it)
Secondarys. IMO, the best all arounder is Rad. It gets all its key debuff eairly. It covers the whole spectrum of debuffs you'll need (-def -res -toohit -dmg and slows) and has a great control power, sweet buff, fallout...which is fun, and a heal to top your health off. (i don't care much for chocking cloud, but others swear by it..)
A fire/rad will be an all purporse char. your looking for. Having solid AoE, Single target, and snipe if you so chose (i don't take it) It's debuffs mixed with a patron shield give it some nice defence, and the buff/debuffs are a god send to any team.
I'd also like to point out it's a fairly common build and you'll see ALOT of them running around. (that may or may not be a turnoff.)
But, frankly, most Corruptors can be made this way, as they are a hybried of blasters and defenders... they can grow into impressive powerhouses. I love my, less common, but very fun to play AR/Cold corr. He's more a teamer then soloer. Exellent AoE damage, top notch debuffs and buffs, and i've not really seen any other ones running around. LOL (and i've started a DP/Rad. Which i've yet to see outside of myself. seems all the DP people are DP/Traps. *shrug*) -
Quote:What's your build?I agree that fire/dark is good stuff. I have never had more fun on a character than on my fire/dark. I am considering running for president of the fire/dark fan club. That being said, I have trouble envisioning a fire/dark taking on an average AV solo. In a group, I feel like I have a lot to contribute, but solo, I still have trouble with AV's and Heroes as Elite Bosses running at +1/x8.
Yes, fire/dark has AoE, ST, mitigation, snipe, heals, and good damage. But I can't find a way to keep all of those powers effective and still hit the def cap in either ranged or s/l. I wind up having to give up some AoE (firebreath), or snipe (I don't take that anyway), or mitigation (PG), or slots for heals and mitigation. Maybe I am just stuck with an ineffective build that I really, really like. I just can't hit a soft-cap by slotting powers that I want to take. -
Quote:You know. This reminds me of the other day. I was running an ITF with a KIN. VG member Ive teamed with on occaission (not often as I neglect redside alot, because well...I lead my SG and I like being the heroHello there forums,
So lately I have been playing a Fire/Kin and teaming around. In the latest team (still in it as we speak) we sparked a mini argument about me SBing people.
My argument is that I refused to SB them unless they ask for it and say thank you afterwards. Both me and Shang stated how my using Speed Boost was a gift, not a necesity.
Their argument is that if I don't intend on using the power, why have it. Also that the stone tank (the one who was demanding the SB) would be able to play much better, as well as everyone else, because of it.
Of course I understand that Speed Boost is a big advantage for the team and stone tankers, what I don't understand is that just because it is a help hat it means manners must go out of the window. I didn't roll a /kin just to observe everyone's buffs to see when to give them one.
So what's your overall view on the matter?
), and also a SG member who kept basically saying SB ME, SB NOW. Not once I did I see a SB PLZ.
So I sent her a message over steam, she should at least say please. Didnt help.
Some people are going to just be that way I guess.
When I played a KIN (they always got deleted up to or right after SB), mostly because...when I play one, I feel I should be keeping that SB up (if it was a 4 minute timer, I swear I could do it).
However, I always feel bad for the KINS who have to hear that all the time.
Of course, my hate for Stone Armor tanks who won't play without a kin has also grown. I mean really, you know the disadvantages of playing Stone Armor going in...
-
I know of an awesome Dark/Fire Tank, build for defense, and in that case skipped both mez toggles. It might be something to consider as well.
-
Why not Stalkers? Electric/WP or Electric/Ninja. Ninja will give more power options, as you can skip some of the toys if wanted.
Then you can grab a blast, snipe, ranged AOE (Mu) or a Hold (soul). -
Well see, my suggestion is for a TF that gives a new power (just 1)...not more levels.

Quote:We have threads and threads of "Soloing AVs/GMs/Pylons" all that is is beating on a pile of Hit Points...and people keep doing it.For this reason exactly. People can easily avoid it... And people do just that. So the content sits unused. Waste of resources, waste of space. Yeah, it's unlikely to be changed, but don't expect the same mistakes to be repeated on the next big TF. We've been complaining about the stupidity of fighting mountains of HP for years. It's sad that it took one mission designer getting burned out over it for the development team to see the problem, but I'm convinced it's becoming more and more obvious now.
As far as it being fun, it's about as much fun as doing your taxes. We're past the age of Pong and Space Invaders where people were satisfied with one static screen of gameplay for hours and hours of fun. These days people expect stuff to actually happen in their games, and with Reichsman, this just isn't the case. Good content balances repetitive content with content rotation, preferably rotating activities and settings just as they're getting boring and tedious. Reichsman is fun for a few cycles. After that, I unmute my TV, swivel my chair and push buttons sideways. -
Of all animations, I'd like alternate animations for the blast and melee sets.
What I love about Dual Pistols versus other blast sets, is the movement. The other blast sets I feel like I'm just standing in place repeating animations with a different flash effect.
For melee, I'd love to see more martial arts style moves tacked onto fists and feet attacks.
Electric Melee for instance, Id love a Eagle's Claw or Dragon's Tail style animation for Thunderstrike.
I want a finesse versus crunch animation option.

Quote:How long you been gone? Impale is at 40ft and Throw Spines at 30.Did they nerf Impale again for spines? Not recently obviously but when I was on sabbatical? I have been playing my lvl 50 spines scrapper and I have to be darn near melee range to use any of my ranged powers from the set.
I believe they used to have a farther range, but that was A LONG time ago. -
Quote:Okay. Then, just don't do it?The difference is that with the big mobs, you're moving around, using different powers, using strategy over who gets killed first, etc., etc.
When you're fighting a big bag of HP like Reichsman, you're just standing there endlessly repeating the same things.
EDIT: Smurphy beat me to it.
There's some people who do enjoy it, so why change it, when you can esily avoid it? -
Quote:Well if it's all about rewards. Then you're right. Stick to normal missions. Anything that gives you an AV at all, is going to be less rewards.Except when fighting other enemies, in the same amount of time, you're getting more rewards for hitting 1-2-3-4-etc.
Reichsman, as far as I can tell, takes a dive at normal AV rewards. So, I may as well have been cranking out missions in those thirty minutes to acquire more.
I don't mind the challenges. I've sat through a 9 hour ITF, knowing full well it could be beat with the people we had. The 3 remaining players thought so as well and were just as stubborn.
The 3 hour ITF I did the other night, same thing. We knew it could be beat, and we beat it. Even if we were down to 4 members. -
Quote:o.OOther than the variety, the stuff dying, using aoe attacks, explosions, "holy cow did you see that guy ragdoll over that bridge", moving, thinking, reacting, interacting with teammates, paying attention to teammates, "dude I totally Fallouted you", paying attention to enemies, paying attention to my health bar, circumstances changing and anything that involves any type of fun it is exactly the same. I might have missed some things.
I don't know about you, but when I team on TFs I see people using AOE attacks against the AV.
They may or may not move about. However this is a limit of the game mechanics as well.
Thinking, reacting, interacting with teammates, and paying attention are all things that still get done when going up against an AV.
The only difference I see, is the moving mob to mob. -
Quote:Not trolling at all.At first I was simply confused. Now I'm thinking I'm being trolled.
I believe I'm being told that playing City of Heroes is the same as having my computer turned off and pressing keys on my keyboard **EDIT** or maybe we're talking to an AI program or a robot who is incapable of grasping the concept of "entertainment".
I'm saying, I find it fun. Me taking on a bag of hit points makes me think I'm fighting a real super hero fight.
I'm saying I don't see the reasoning of "pressing 1-2-3-4" as a factor of not being fun, when that's what you're doing when you're wading through mob after mob anyway. -
Quote:Okay, when you fight Reichsman...what are you doing? You're pressing 1-2-3-4.I am unclear on what you are saying here. Specifically, I do not understand what you mean by "stamina threads" and "what people want to do...keep smashing non stop".
As explained several times in this thread the difference between Reichsman and fighting a large horde of enemies is action, excitement and entertainment.
I enjoy the Reichsman fight as much as I enjoy sitting at my desk with my computer off while pressing 1-2-3-4 repeatedly for a half hour. I cannot discern a significant different between fighting Reichsman and pressing 1-2-3-4 with my computer off.
When you fight a multiple of enemies that aren't AVs...what are you foing? You're pressing 1-2-3-4.
The difference is purely in seeing enemies fall faster, and moving onto a new enemy.
Otherwise, you're doing the same thing over and over...pressing 1-2-3-4.
The difference is...with moving group to group it's basically...captain america fighting a bunch of ninjas. He's wading through them.
Reichsman is Captain America coming up against the leader of the Hand, and having a bigger longer fight on his hand.
In game terms, what I'm hearing here is...I'd rather be a superhero who deals with weaker criminals than the actual real A list big badguys, because, I want to see lots of bodies versus 1 tough opponent.
Because in game terms no matter how you look at it...you're pressing 1-2-3-4. -
Quote:I'd like that as well. I would love for instance a craftable REZ power ala RotP without the damage.I know my reply was a bit terse. Thing is - right now, all I can say is "Wait and see." It's all we *can* do.
Alternately, get more suggestions for temp powers. I don't see anything wrong with "crafting" a hand clap-like power, for instance. And you wouldn't have to wait 'til 50 for it.
Both the fire and ice version (ice version given out during the winter event). Eithout the stun/dmg but the 10-15 second of real invicibility. Maybe even the ability to stack it when crafting.
Ie...I can get 5 charges per crafting and they stack so I can get up to 100 charges if I want to. -
Quote:Possibly. And and my suggestion is more for rounding out concepts than anything. What Bill said. Don't get me wrong, I'd love more powers and slots on a character but since we're getting Incarnate Levels Soon(tm) I think adding more level 50 improvement stuff is premature.
There's quite a few powers I'd love to grab on a build, just for concept. For example...Hand Clap. I have a concept that could use it for a concept only power, but then if I take it, I might have to give up something else.
Hell, I'm easy and would be happy to just have the ability listed with no slots at all...
I wouldn't use Hand Clap during normal missions. But knowing my toon has the power would just go so well with the concept.
