That's a whole other topic. As much as I am a promoter of the "Let people have fun the way they want with their $15/month!" mindset, I can't help but to be annoyed at male characters using the in-game female model to be feminine. And before gasping at me "BRIGHT SHADOW!!!!", just bear with me for a sec!

I don't find it annoying because I'm against the idea. I also don't find it annoying because it's (to some people) "taboo". The one and only reason for which I find this whole growing phenomenon really annoying is cause I think (I still haven't given it too much though; so feel free to disagree with me and tell me why I'm wrong!) it only shows the laziness of the player. How, you ask?

Instead of the player going to through the challenge and effort to try and make an effeminate male/boy, they simply want everyone else to go through the effort and hassle of ignoring the first visible identification criteria of their character and thinking the opposite.

People can make perfectly viable effeminate male/boy characters through the character editor using the male model. It's a challenge! But I think if someone wants to go through that route, they should take up that challenge instead of taking shortcuts! How come I don't see any butch female characters on male models (now that I think of it, I remember seeing ONE...and she was adorably hilarious!)?!

So yah, BrandX! I think you're lazy!

Sorry for the thread hijack! I just needed to share that. xD
But...he's suppossed to look completely like a female minus the chest. Not just that, but the lack of costume choices the concept would wear. He was replacing his twin sister (and due to mutant genes he took on a very female look...not just androgynous). So the female model is the way to go.

That said, I did try it with a male model on another toon, who is suppossed to be androgynous, but I didn't want to use a female model. I spent a long...long...loooong time trying to get the look down...I still haven't succeeded and I try often just for that concept.

And I've seen a few use male toons for females.

I swear he's slowly been putting on the muscles!

Look at him in FF, then in Losers, and now in Captain America. :O

I've been asked on a couple of Team Missions now, but I was always very up-front that I was new and wasn't quite sure what I was doing yet. Groups were not only very generous with me, but did their best to help me and let me get used to the game.

Given that, I have to give some props to people who have made my arrival onto Virtue a ball of blazing, gun-toting, power-blasting fun:

Mr. Bambam - A tanker I did some stuff with on my first night; I was on my Natural Scrapper, had no idea where to go, or what I was even really doing. He was patient and guided me to where I needed to go, explained on how to find things with my map/compass, and took me to do some team mission to get a jetpack. Whee!

Russian Barber, Armor Car, Balorella(sp?), and two damage dealers I can't remember the names of >.< - These guys took me on a trip through the Sewers on my Magic Defender. That was a pretty wild ride. Again, I told them I was new so they took it slow to start out with, but by the end of the night they were charging madcap into the middle of entire rooms of zombies and we were taking them down. I got several compliments from the entire party on healing, which made my night.

Sorry for any misunderstanding that may have caused.

Some people, sadly enough, feel like they are somehow morally superior because they do not like big breasts and try to shove it in everyones' faces, like the OP's friend. And this age-old behaviour isn't limited to just pixelated boobies. It's all over the world over various topics in different cultures.

As for the ability to make smaller boobs. I'd say meh. I personally wouldn't care one way or the other if they let us make females with smaller breasts. But I also don't see such a dire need for it. I think the minimum value we have right now is close enough to bring variety and still keep the character looking feminine.
I want it! Then my very much looks like like a female, but is a cross dressing guy's image can totally be complete!

Luckily, there's a few costume pieces that flatten out the look.

The biggest differences I saw were that while Nin has some bells and whistles (Caltrops, Blinding Powder) WP has actual resistances under that defense (54% to S/L with Strength of Will on backup)... On large teams wouldn't that Res be better?
Personally, I'd go with the WP, if you're looking for more durability.

Also, are both at the health cap?

Caltrops wouldnt make one more durable, but it may stop the attacks from coming as much. But I wouldn't call that durability.
  7. That video was so sad. And I couldn't help but think they were making the kittens do it on purpose just for the video, which might not be bad, untill you learned one died.

Then it's like, well, maybe if you didn't try to induce the effect on purpose so often.
  8. When watching/reading the video, did anyone else have V's first speech to Evie run through their heads?

I would of put both Batman and Superman in the Early to mid 30's area, with no more than a few months difference in their ages.

This also allows for Bruce Wayne to have adopted Grayson (he's rich with the best lawyers, so he can get away with it).

I liked the original theme song better though.

If it was Adam West then it wouldn't be Killer Croc.

If it is Killer Croc....well...if they wanted a physical powerhouse to try to take down Batman they could go for Bane instead. Killer Croc, while formidable, doesn't strike me as a character capable of sustaining the movie as the sole villain. Also Croc isn't what you would call the brightest crayon in the box.....more like he's sharp as a marble Bane on the other hand in the comics and Animated series has some brains to go with his brawn. He's no William F Buckley but he's not a dimwit like Croc either.

Although...Louisana also implies things like the bayou and swamps......and that to me could mean Solomon Grundy as well as Killer Croc.
Hmmm...he was born in 1969. I'm going to guess he wouldn't be talking about the Adam West TV Series.

    So, figure 1979-1985.

Two-Face, Joker, Scarecrow, and Ra's are out.

Bane wasn't introduced untill after Mark Millar's childhood (unless he considers his 20's part of his childhood).

This also leaves out Harley Quinn.

If we take it as it's been said, it's not Mr. Freeze or The Riddler. Poison Ivy would seem to be out as well, as she has a very "super science" origin, which Nolan doesn't appear to want.

Killer Croc would of been late in Mark Millar's childhood, so I'm not convinced it's Killer Croc.

Deadshot, Talia, Catwoman...these are two villains that could be put into Nolan's universe easy enough...so my guess...

...Catwoman and Deathstroke for #3! Because everyone loves Deathstroke!

That said, a blast set with proper water effects >would< be awesome.

And add one more on the stack for a Polearms/Staffs set...

As well as, with the new customization sets, perhaps "Staff" and "Gun" costume options and emanation points for powersets to represent wizards and Tech blasters with fantastic weaponry!
People would complain about it, if it was made.

What does water from a fire hose do? It knocks people back.

The set might be popular conceptually, but if they stuck to what the set would do, they'd complain like they do with Energy Blast.

I don't care how well the stories might be written, if they were drawn as stick figures, I wouldn't be buying them.

Trying to get that realistic look (and combining it with a new terrible writer) is what had me drop Gen-13 for awhile, way back when.

That said, to the OP, if she's not complaining about how muscled the guys are, or anything else then remind her that, just as stated, it's the genre staple. Both men and women are made to be idolized versions of both sexes.

Figure out your concept, figure out how they should look to you, and go with it. It's your character.

And remember, this isn't a female thing, this is just something with your friend.

Though, all the way to the right does seem to look pretty crappy outside of a few costume pieces, so there is that to remember.

*sigh* Personally, I hate to see people want to put realism into the game. It's a comicbook universe, not RL with powers.

hmm, how about as a community we decide on like, 1 new set per power "style" (control, range, melee, etc) to propose to the devs for consideration?

even though the big lists like Tannim made are cool, if everyone does that this thread'd become pretty cluttered XD
For a time Manipulation set, I'd make it toggle heavy, and make it pretty close to the VEATS secondary in usage.

On your response to Sonic Melee/Sonic Armor, what makes you think sonics has to be about yelling?

It's a popular form of doing sonics, but it doesn't have to be that way at all.

Look at Shriek, from Batman Beyond as an example.

Easily say the fists are charged up with sonic energy that deliver a greater punch upon contact.

Now one could easily use Energy Melee and call it Sonic Melee, but I think people want a -res secondary, and well, Energy Melee just isn't popular/fun for a lot of people anymore.

    Chain Melee!

Temporal Manipulation (either as a Buff/Debuff set and/or Armor Set)

In my mind, they would have had a more genuine path to a disaffected Superman if they had looked at him from square one and applied his story rules logically. Superman is the ultimate alienation story, and there's nothing wrong with saying that in the 50's he'd come out one way, but if it happened 60 years later there'd be markedly different results.

Superman "fit in" by choosing to create not one but two fake personae (Clark Kent wasn't any more the real person than the guy in tights) and then wholeheartedly defend the best ideals of his adopted nation. They never dwelled on it, but for a long time he was very much a misanthrope, it was just dealt with in a lighthearted fashion.

Flash forward to a modern era Superman, and apply the same premises. Life as an American teen is a lot more complicated than the simple moral existence he got growing up on the Kent farm in the 50s. I could easily see him developing a lot of emotional issues growing up, before being contacted by Jor-El and having his origins explained to him. Further that with adoptive parents not of the greatest generation, but the viet nam era, and an America that doesn't have as solid a moral compass as it did in the 50s, and its far less likely he'd have a solid set of goals to latch onto.

I'm not saying it was a great idea, especially if their focus was on sexy, dark and/or brooding more than it was on staying true to who Superman is, but he doesn't need to be angsty over his lost homeworld to still have issues with essentially living a lie.
Hmmm...I don't know if I agree with this theory per se.

A small town couple, in Kansas, even if born in that era, could just as easily be close to an upbringing that has a pretty solid moral compass.

This isn't to say there wouldn't be changes to his personality, or that it wouldn't be possible for him to remain the Clark Kent we've come to know.

Though, is this suppossed to be DC's version of Marvel's Ultimate line?
  22. My main and namesake, took me quite a while to get down the right outfit, had to be over a year. While some pieces have stayed, it's changed over and over.

Only now do I think I have it down. And that was after just a few days ago, when I took a SG's members opinion, that I shouldn't make one change that I was myself wasn't quite sure on.

Now on my others, I tend to get the outfit right on the first go. But I also tend to make use of my main, and plan it out in Icon, then save it, then make character.
  23. Go to the file, open it (as if to edit it), select all, then copy.

Send a message to your friend with a pasted copy of the file in a message.

Friend then copies what you sent, and pasting it into notepad, and saving it using the same naming convention as all other saved costumes.

    That's how I've done it.

Does he have reason to be a little whistful or melancholy now and then?

    Definitely.

    But "brooding"?

Naw, I still don't think so.
    This.

I'm not saying he didn't have moments to be broody during his childhood with the Kents.

But to be all angsty over a planet he never knew, or parents he never knew?

Moments of wishful thinking, moments of brooding, moments of wonder for what it would of been like, sounds right. But brooding over it, especially since he's know he was special for quite a while before hand.

    Naaa.

Personally I don't see a problem with the picture though.

And is it an Elseworlds comic? If that's the case, maybe there's a reason to be broody?
