Anyway, when I made my first character, Burning Effigy, I realized an annoying 2 had been added to my global name. Since I met most of my friends list people as my second toon, a sonic defender named Bossa Nova, and that's how everyone in the game knows me I figured I may as well use that as my global, and then it made sense to use it here too.

This is very true. I rarely play on any server but Victory, and even when my friends list is completely grey I have no trouble finding teams. As long as you search a bit for players you should find plenty.

Part of learning a writen language is learning the punctuation of that language. Especial the two most basic and often used characters, one of which (if not both) is common to most European languages. I have to wonder how ... could possibly be more familiar than . or , considering the ellipsis is not actually a common punctuation mark.

The actual use of the elipsis (...) is to convey that there is something you aren't telling us. Usually it's in a long quote and you use it to shorten it up by replacing the less important information with ... . Used in a different context it gives the sense that you want to make sure the person you are talking to knows that there is more you could or want to say, but you won't. Not a nice sentiment. It could also give the sense that you are going to continue talking. If you don't continue it becomes irritating. And then there's the very real idea that you can't take people who over use it seriously, just like people who don't use capitals, attempt proper punctuation or finish every sentence with '!!!!!!!!!'

The best idea is just not to use it unless you have a reason to.

Yes, it is. That's because blasters are designed to do more damage than other ranged ATs. Defenders are designed to be better than the other support ATs at buffing, so the damage they deal is lower.
