thanks Jack. Yeah, i worked with this build for a week squeezing evrything I could from it. It is the winner from 3 great posters who alll suggested builds to me. One of the few changes I made was switching the multiples in these for less End Red to get more Resist. It makes a very slight change in my per second end use, was just wondering if I could squeeze it back. I also moved some of the sets around in the passives so S/L got the best, and tiny nudges like that. But in the end I know I'm not getting much more performance out of the armors. I thought I could pop a few in Haymaker, that is probably the one power that could benefit the most from love. I won't experiment with the Purples, I just won't. I can write off one set of KC though. I'm throwing Muscaluture on this thing, so enhancing damage is dumb, which means enhancing the KC in Haymaker is dumb. Also, no prob with Acc on the build. So the only place that would benefit is CJ and Tough Hide. Both could see a +5 on the Def enhancer and have full impact from each +. Just not sure how much that would be. Can MIDs handle these boosters, and if so how?

Okay, I am looking for a project alt. Found my main, plan many weeks of trials/TF ahead. this is just a silly idea. the thrust is tank/mage. Not sure if this guy could even walk under its own power, I think the dark Armor will eat the character to death if you run even most of the toggles, especially if just SO'd. Any thoughts?

Seriously, I really really suck at it. Thanks for all the build help, suggestions on tactics, etc. I just am not a Blaster. I am back on Brutes, and the old SS/Invul Brute type I started with to boot. (Although with 4 years cash this one has bling I never even heard about when i started, some of it didnt exist lol)
I am posting for 2 reasons, one is to express my gratitude to all of you for the tips.
The second.... I want advice on a ghetto Tank Mage lol. I want to take a Brute or Scrapper, or heck, even Tank, and try to cram as much Ranged attacks on them as possible. I know the damage will not be near what a "Ranged" class can put out, but it seems my only solution for playing the character I want. I also realize that I will probably be throwing good attack chains out the door and probably mucking the armor up some as well. But I have this Ranged character in my head, and I will find a way to get the sucker into the cities lol.
So, what power sets, (Primary/Secondary/Ancillary/Epic) would be good suggestions from the Scrapper/Tank/Brute pit? (Crab soldiers are right out conceptually, although I know they have many of the strengths I'm asking for) This will be a project toon for now, which for me means I wont be trying to 50 it in under a week. But I want to start penciling some stuff in, with the hope of having a good concept down when I want to alt. Thanks. -

The exact science is hidden, but from what we can determine the Devs have changed everything about a character's build, so that as soon as you step into a PvP zone you have no idea how to run your own 50. there are theories it is because 3 Devs are manic PvPers and this gives them an incredible advantage. Others say Devs just hate on PvP as a lunch table hobby, implementing whatever screwy things they can think of while eating hot pockets each day. No one really knows for sure.

Okay, I'm squeezing my new Brute build for every stinking drop of power I can grab out of it.
Are you saying I could level shift just one or two level 50 LOTG Defense (I have them in CJ and Tough hide for instance, and milk some more defense? (At the expense of throwing the enhancers away for anyone but this character. And is there a way to see in mids what that bonus would be?
Also, if you add it to a Res/End tha I have in reactive's, that boosts both sides of that 2.5%/2.5%?

Here is what I finally went with. I 50'd late sunday night. I will do the weekly respec TF tonight and shift fully into this build. I am 95% there now, but need to nudge a few picks that I made different as I leveled and was unable to line up every set. I still need to buy about 5 enhancers, but they are not any of the expensive ones thankfully. This will be my main for the coming months. I am very happy with how he is rolling, was even able to run point on a few Lambda Acid phases at 50+0, although it was pretty hairy.
I will be going Musculature Radial Paragon, Reactive Radial Flawless, Pyro Judgement.

Yeah, I been rolling pretty good. 50'd late Sunday night, worked yesterday. Ran maybe 7-8 trials last night. Caught a VR.
The Leagues are really really hit or miss. Seems you either get a sweet mix of people that know what is up or a really mediocre team. I was on a LAM last night that was a complete flustercluck. It could only have been more perfect if half the team stood in the courtyard /animate pick nose, while the other half ran around screaming what do we do? what do we do? It was actually kind of funny, sad, but funny. Didn't bother me any more than someone griefing the cadaver bade in the sewer, since I'm planning on running about 200 of these on this toon I just watch these folks for 15 minutes be really really odd. Tried to help, but since I just 50'd was not even level shifted. It's a nightmare in there for a new character.
Side note, I have yet to be on a team that managed to ace the BAF escapee portion. Is it common to miss that one on Virtue? I haven't run trials in months, but I recall (maybe incorrectly) that we nailed that 75% time.

Okay, I finally stopped endlessly alting and am back to one character (50'd last night) and for a while at least running tons of iTrials.
Where is the best place to do PUG ITrials on Virtue? RWZ? or Pocket D? (I heard the floors were sticky there...)
Is there a good iTrial channel? I'm on a Virtue LFG, trying to remember if it has an extension. Anyways, where can I get some serious iTrials happening? -
Enhancement boosters are useless to me. The only thing I would want to use them on are expensive builds, and the more expensive the build the more stupid it is. It destroys the enhancer for any character except that character. If it could be sent to your own e-mail account yes. As it is, I feel the Devs are asking me "Hey, would you like the opportunity to destroy 7 billion in enhancers? Cause there is this great trick..."

I found this on the forums, I ran something similar, with an extra purp set I think, just stripped it for my new main. I puut the hold set (purp) in a Mu power, and had KO set for damage. These builds are all just about huge recharge and laying out the pain. Season to taste. Dfenses and armor are not as important. I called mine a "Ghetto Blapper" and Rise of the Pheonix is just what you get if you think you put him down. Its an ugly, mean way to crawl thru maps.

It gets even more complicated. During the Rage Crash I have 3 vet attacks I use. Also a great time to Taunt. If taunting is a rgular activity (it does build Fury after all, indirectly) I am doing it during a "free time" while it is taking away from everyone else's DPS. So many things to consider in this argument.
For me, personally, SS is just the funnest and easiest, and therefore that is what I chose to use for my main over the next period of gameplay.
Hey, in a related question, for the Vet attacks. Since you are attacking while 1 Rage crashes, but have a second Rage running, do they get the benefit of the second Rage's +Hit/Damage bonuses? -
I'm not a good builder. I am currently getting a ton of help from very good posters in the Brutes forums on how to make an uber build for tons of cash to be my main for the next year. Reactive Armor shows up on all the top contenders, sometimes on 4 powers!

I have 50'd the character. My build isnt spot on right now because I made a few different choices as I leveled. have 95% of my target build on though. For now I have both Hurl and Laser eyes. I like them both. Laser eyes is fast, the graphics are dealable with for my concept. Hurl is a slightly slower animation, and hits like a truck. Course, I have a purp set in Hurl and one damage SO in Laser eyes.
What is surprising is that Hurl fits pretty comfortably into my button mash attack strategy. and it worked great in the BAF I tried.
I would like to keep both, slotted like they are now, but if I have to drop one I think Laser eyes has to go.
I am still tinkereing with the build. I have a few enhancement slots in Def sets that seem to be there just to squeak me over S/L softcap. If i can find 3-4 and enhance a power with those that gives a modest S/L bump I think i would like that better. -
My knowledge of Brute Fury is pretty much "as the bar goers up I do more damage." With the corallary "I like that the Devs dropped the decay rate a few issues back, but hate they effectively capped it at about 3/4 bar."
Can a few bright people explain exactly how it works, compare/contrast it's effects with adding a damage enhancer to a power, and perhaps put ina couple links to all that mad science? -
Good advice. Took me a while to grok. So should I get away from adding the Physical Perfection stuff here? I dont have many slots to pop into adding Fire Mastery, my damage set choice. I could move the Purps from Hurl to the ST Ranged Fire attack, and thats about it. But I am worried about end performance. One of my memories about SS/Invul is the constant need for Energy, and I hates it. I think it's one of the main reasons I stopped running it, altjough I love everything else about it. Here is the build, I haven't play tested it (the new brute is 35, and hanging with family this weekend, prob wont 50 until next week) but I think this build might actually be able to hit cruise control and grind mobs with the occassional Rage re-up, and the inevitable switching to Vet attacks (I got 3) during the rage crash.

I have bought 1 PvP Glad +3% I advertised I wanted one here. Someone replied. I checked their previous posts for anything ugly. Looked good. I met in person, we traded, I popped up 1 bil. On the second bill I asked for the Glad. I gave him the change after that in a 3rd transaction. I too want to keep my good name on the boards. Well, some folks love to argue with me about game issued. But I aint no I/O thief lol, and there wiull come a day when I need another one. (Although my second one I just popped 2 bil into the Market and waited 2 months. YMMV, was sometime early this year.

I seem to have been sidetracked, as usual. The brute builds I am looking at are tending towarsds softcap. I was very happy running a SO SS/Invul Brute for a year. What I want is to enhance that, rather than take that and make it into a Tank. Should I just throw some nice purple Sets, some Procs, and a few sets that give health/End/Defense bonuses as it feels comfortable? Since i was very happy with the SO version, I can only guess I will like that. Or will the level 50 task forces and incarnate trials eat a non optimal Brute alive?

For thematic reasons SS Hurl works much better for me than Physical perfection's Laser Beam eyes. Most of my attacks/playstyle on a SS/Invul Brute involve charging headfirst at the meanest thing I see and swinging until there is no one around me.
When i do need a ranged attack, it would suit me well to have a very hard hitting one. Should I purp Hurl, or re-consider Laser eyes?
Also, seems i have an extra power choice, although the build is tight. Good (well, of whats left) Good options are Hand Clap, Laser Beam Eyes, or Energy Torrent. Also, it will only get the one enhancer slot. Although the build has good recharge and accuracy built into it already.

Scrappy spawns often. I have busted his Blue butt a hundred times, never had him despawn in the middle of a fight.

That is really nice Scene. You are nearly nailing Mauk's numbers, and are closer to the power choices I would make. I do not like Hasten. I am pulled towards SS/Invul Brutes because of the non-click feeling. I deal with Rage, never realized for a year the madness other people go thru mashing build up on most other builds lol. I will be throwing Fly on. I use a stealth proc in Fly for "Brute Stealthing" the missions I solo. So that saves me a power choice. I'll prob pick up hand Clap or Hurl. Both neat powers when you have an extra choice. I am going to compare your build and Mauk's Heracles and see if I can blend the two together just slightly more, or add a purple set, lol. The endless drive to shoehorn just a little more will never go away. But I really appreciate this, it definitely moves the conversation along in the direction I wanted to go. I'll have to start looking at Incarnate powers next. Both these builds look so strong on paper I feel like I have free range to pick what I want, which usually means more damage lol.

I am a pretty basic MIDs user. I just found out how to turn on effect = being attacked for instance. I heard someone in a post say you could choose how many attackers are in range.
I am trying to work on my Invulnerability build. I need to be able to dial it so I can see one mob in range and zero mobs in range for the Invincibility Def bonus.
Can someone tell me how to control the number of mobs in close combat in MIDs?
