I'm sure this is a ridiculous question, but I'm coming back after a year or two off and know there have been a few changes. Most of the details I've come across in patch notes, Issue notes, or happy accident.
I was feeling pretty good about my new respec and had gone through some missions on my own when I figured I'd give group play a shot. With nobody on in my Supergroup I turned towards the LFG tab which I'd remembered being set up to where you could pick what you were wanting to do (Missions, Task Forces, etc) and whatnot. While the details escape me I didn't remember it ever saying, "No Qualifying Events To Display". I understand it won't pull up in bases and a couple other locations, but it's telling me this when I'm hanging out in regular zones. Am I missing something or is it down until the teleport feature is up? I read the 'known issues' but didn't see anything about it.
I appreciate any replies! I did try looking for a similar thread, but came up empty.
Last bit of possibly helpful information - I *just* got back into CoX and haven't picked up Going Rogue yet. I don't see why it would be an issue, but on the other hand, who am I to say? -

Plus, as I'm sure most of us are aware, there *are* modern day pirates. Better to encourage the Witty ones, rather than the machine gun wielding ones.

You're right, lets get right on the maps for the somalie pirates. Not gonna be able to fit many mobs on a boat the size of a large row boat though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you kidding?
Somalie pirates.
Somalia. That desert country where everyone is starving?
All ten million of them could fit into a rowboat.

The lag would be awful though. -
As has been said before... balance.
Origin, as it stands right now, really doesn't do much in the grand scheme of things. So my Magic origin girl uses different SO's than my Muties. Whoop de do. It's more of a backstory than anything active. So adding a new origin really does little except take up space. Plus... technically if you're improving an existing hero... their origin hasn't changed. If they're keeping most of their same powers, they still got them through Tech, or Natural, etc means.
Did I read that correctly that one incarnate should be equal to any other 5 50's? That's what we'd call imbalance. I'm going to assume, then, that incarnates will not be able to PvP.
Justaris explained why that's a bad thing pretty well, actually.
To get something that shiny, you'd need to balance it out by giving something up. So... say they're the same as a regular AT, only their powers are inherently stronger. Energy Blast does more base damage (not heaps, but a bit), Heal Other heals a little bit more... but you have to give them weaknesses to make up for that. Maybe you can only give each power 4 slots. Or something. Not saying they should, but giving you an example of compensating.
Otherwise, you're basically asking for the /godmode command. Or the "I win!" button. And Santa knows you haven't been that nice. He always knows. -
Well... the docks we have in the game are already pretty decent... and does nobody else get the tall ships that come into port every now and then? The Lady Washington was here a little while ago with some other ship. If you took out the power boats, you couldn't tell what century it was, really. Moreso in somewhere like Talos Island, then Washington state, I suppose. They have enough little islands and whatnot anyway, give 'em their own.
So... I vote yes.
...Plus, as I'm sure most of us are aware, there *are* modern day pirates. Better to encourage the Witty ones, rather than the machine gun wielding ones. -
Bright idea... I see what you did there.
Anyway, I agree. I sort of thought it was just me, but I'm rather glad it isn't. -
Squeaky wheel gets the grease, and all that.
The odds of someone totally disassociated with the event nominating something like this is... well, not good. -

Wouldn't it be terrific to prompt people to want to be a part of this fantastic long-running player event? Does it matter that it was born out of Champion? Could it be possible that players may pick it up and begin running their own on their servers & if not, creating a tankie to have on Champion for the event?
[/ QUOTE ]
This is what I was thinking, but was beaten to by a better worded version. Thank you.
Gold titles are fleeting. Plaques endure. The next generation of tankers may never see a gold title, but they can see the plaque and know that they're part of something bigger. -
That's still a better idea, though. 500 badges cuts out the Vet. reward badges, and some of the 'no longer attainables', if I recall. The anniversary badges, for instance.
They can give us ponies for all I care, just don't make it impossible for some to ever get. Or no ponies. I'm still down with no added bonus. -

...this isnt about rewarding years of paying monthly subscriptions...
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, actually it is. A nice amount of badges are actually just for sitting around doing that. Not, say, Ouroboros badge numbers, but... we're at the 60 month badge now? Somewhere around there? So, really, a good deal of the playerbase does have to sit around and wait for those badges to turn up on their accounts, because they haven't been here all 5 years, or been able to pay the whole time, or were in a diving bell in the South Pacific or whatever.
So... not a fan of that plan, since veterans already get... wait for it... veteran rewards.
I also say this as a badge hound. *shrug* But then, I like a little spice in my missions by having baddies be 3 or 4 levels above me. If I wanted to breeze through missions I'd run ancient contact arcs and blast through greys.

Having 610 badges on your character is its own reward..
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. At most I wouldn't mind another 'badge #' badge after 250 (is it 250?). Maybe 500. Even that's just for forms sake, I don't care that much one way or the other. -
Star, I know it isn't the same thing... but I have Starshot Shadow, if you have any interest in that one. I've been thinking about rerolling her anyway and I'm not married to the name.

/signed to the prompt idea
And really, "Make rest of the team a ham sandwich" would be just as good of a power. Probably better, really.
Group Fly is probably my least favourite power and is abused about as much as it's used to good use, in my experience. Well, 'trying to put it to good use' anyway. -

I... like the layer cake room. >_> And the rest of the blue cave network, really. It's like pretty much anywhere else, once you figure out where the ramps/paths are, you're set.
Apart from that, even if I disliked it I don't think anything should be done away with. For variety, for one thing.
You can get from the bottom to the top in that room with no travel power, no nothing. Just, you know, look for the incline.I do think it's a little silly to imply that whoever designed it may have gotten fired... so it's a slight challenge... better (to me anyway) than having to trek through 5 more connected rooms. Why? As I said, variety. ^_^
[/ QUOTE ]
You may have a point to keep the 5 layer room for variety, but lately it seems to be the norm, that is not variety at all. I hate the room more from the perspective that abuses players when the are doing a defeat the boss and guards, and it turns out to defeat the boss, his guards, the friends of the guards, the relative of the guards who all live in the same mega cave. That is make work, tedium. If you could defeat the boss and the immdiate spawn associated with the boss, and then mission ends, that would be fine and the nature of the room would not matter.

Ps: I like the blue rooms, its different, they could be a bit wider though.

I totally agree that they're turning up way more often. No argument there. XD
In regards to jumping up and down with sheer excitement... I'd honestly rather do any sort of cave map than an office map. With that said, the only maps I tend to get excited at all over are outdoors maps, the Cimerora caves (what, they're pretty!), and the 'rescue X hostages/find Y canisters' on the city maps. Only because I'm really good at it though. -

Technically it would be constructive in informing the OP of a way to get information on this subject themselves instead of rehashing all the same old stuff. Sort of a 'I don't have the time/inclination/etc to hunt it down, but it's there and here are the tools to find it yourself' type deal. With the knowledge that there's already a large thread or 8, it should be easier to find.
With that being said... /unsigned.
I'm assuming the other threads have better points than I'm about to make, but for me personally... while it would make a lot of things easier for the players, I can also see how it would make things easier for the... you know, RMTers. I support restricting ingame e-mail more than it is now, not giving it more features. -
D'oh, I knew it was a 'regular' sci-fi/fantasy author, just mixed 'em. >_<
Luff Zahn though. -

I was totally off the idea of MA but this is giving me something to look forward to. ^_^ -
This thread made my day.
Has it been said before? Yes. Is it any less true? No.
I want a Baby Blue now.
Also... we really do have the best Devs ever. This thread pretty much locked that down for me. -

I always sort of loved the Shadow Shard just because it was so... spacy and different (yeah, yeah, dimension/space... still closest we currently have).
Yay the 5th/5th anniversary!
