I just wanted to say thanks to the community for doing this! I've had 2 pieces in the queue since August of 2006. I've since had a couple of pieces from other artists completed (including the awesome Vanguard League poster from Doug). I'm not looking for the art, but after 2 years and a substantial deposit, I'm going to try and simply get my money back and call it a day.
I'm always very, very impressed with the art community in CoH, and this type of project is impressive in it's generosity and inspiring in it's spirit. Congrats to all the participants! -
Imissed this last year, but I'll definately be there this year. And the CoH party wherever it's held.
-
ditto! I have lost 4 slots on Victory. I even deleted an unused toon to create a slot and lost that one!
Not So Good. -
Hmmm... It's been 10 pages since I posted this. I can't let the LoV have all the fun!
Supergroup Name: The Vanguard League
Website (if any): The Vanguard League
Leadership: @BluShield, @Ferrera, @Vi c t o r y
Preferred Method of contact: Send an in game tell to a current member. In general the Vanguards do not recruit, however when we team with someone of unusual ability, talent or humor, well start the process by asking you if youre interested. Recruitment into the Vanguard League usually requires running several missions with current members and can take anywhere from a day to a few weeks depending on your schedule.
Non-recruitment contact, joint SG events, coalitions, or complaints about a member should be directed to one of the leader names above.
SG Description: We bill ourselves as Victorys Best Mom and Pop SG. Although we are a top 10 SG, we are actually a fairly small number of players who meet regularly and have a great time. We have the advantages of some of the big SGs, e.g. a base with all the trimmings, folks on almost all of the time, events, base raids etc., the small roster means its pretty easy to get to know everyone fairly quickly.
Generally the membership of the Vanguard League floats around 30 people +/- 5, however we are far from a monolithic team in terms of play style. We have very active members in both PvE and PvP, strong coalitions with other active SGs, and put together server-level events on a fairly regular basis. About one-third of our current roster is PvP focused and our coalition with the Nightmare Titans has produced a joint venture, the Near Death Experience on the test server. See NDX for details. Usually there are at least a few Vanguards online at any given time although we tend to cluster in the evenings on weekdays and afternoons on weekends. While we are an open, friendly and very diverse group culturally we are also picky about our membership and restrict it to 18+.
See the website for a full list of rules, SG structure, rewards and events. -

Mmmm....
Well to be fair, he does have a point. The contest folks have been waiting behind your paid queue, for almost a year. I kind of saw the writing on the wall, and that was what prompted me to upgrade mine to a full color piece. I suppose it's a good thing, that you would HAVE a queue for this long. You're not hurting for business, that's certain.
Of course, no one foresaw your accident either, or Lush's getting swamped with work. But hey... you're running your own biz, sometimes setbacks happen. As customers, we don't have much choice, this isn't mass-produced stuff so it's impossible to pass the work off to someone else.
And ... sometimes someone's patience runs out.
I renew mine by looking at the bluelines you sent. It's very effective.

Mine certainly did. I ordered 2 pieces from MMOART back in August of 2006 and, as is customary, paid half up front. I got some sketches in late March of 2007 to approve (which I did immediately), and was told to expect delivery in April or May. It's now September and, frankly, after 13 months my enthusiasm has waned to the point of not being interested. All the contests are great, but if they dont deliver the bread and butter pieces, it seems like kind of a waste of time. -
Amazing and impressive. As always!

The Spectacular Sparky is still one of the best comics I have ever read. Awesome job!
-
Simply Stellar! You've outdone yourself again!
-
That is an awesome gift! Gratz on a great piece!

Epic Travel Powers
- available after lvl 40 (to coincide with Epic Pools)
Either as:
a) fifth power in each travel pool (easiest), examples:
- Fly -> subsonic (fast but LOW maneuverability, long turns)
- Superspeed -> "boost jet" (allows maximum CJ+Hurdle heights while SSing)
- Teleport -> team recall or combat blink (10 ft straight ahead)
- Leaping -> "glider" (slows down the landing speed?)

Hey, could you do this?
I updated the VLs entry in the base thread, but if we could have soemthing on the Victory site that let us look at SG descriptions, that would rock. Even contact info would be cool. -

The Vanguard League does not currently have a villain counterpart, however we have a strong coalition with the Chaotic Conflagration and most of us have our villains there. Chaotic Conflagration
Membership in VL does not require you put your villains there, but hey, the Conflagers are pretty cool.
Rules:
1. Members are limited to a maximum of 3 (three) alts in the Vanguard League at any one time. Additional toons may be played (or even stored) in one of the Vanguard affiliates, Vanguard Force, Vanguard Emeriti or the Eradicators (special build requirements apply to the Eradicators. A frontal lobotomy, while helpful, is not actually required anymore).
2. Any toon not played for 15 days is subject to removal from the active roster, although you will be immediately added to Vanguard Force as soon as you log the toon in and you let a member know. You can be readmitted to the League as well. Toons in Vanguard Force have full base access and all the normal privileges due a toon active in the League. Active toons can stay in the League as long as they like, we have folks who have been in and active for 2+ years.
3. Admission to the Vanguard League generally requires the approval of 1 (one) admin, but this is a soft rule.
4. Members are subject to dismissal at any time for bad behavior in game, in the CoH Forums or at any public event.
5. Promotions and level awards (getting one of Blus 1,000,000 prestige Hami-Os, Obelisks in the Hall of 50s etc.) are all pre-set and detailed on the website.

What exactly do you mean by "device"? A logo, a symbol based on your SG insignia? Please be more specific...
[/ QUOTE ]
An insignia, logo, stylized badge etc. Currently we have nothing we use to represent the league. -
As many of you saw this week, the Vanguard League comissioned a poster from the highly esteemed darkjedi for our website.
However, there are still some things we need for our SG website, one of them being a seal or device we can use to represent the Vanguard League. So I'd like to announce a contest: Create a device that the Vanguard league can use on it's website and win two (2) Hamidon Enhancements! We have a vault with 30 or in it right now, and I'll let you pick which 2 you want from those available.
A couple of rules: The contest will run one week, until March 2nd, 2007 at 5pm PST.
The artwork needs to be original.
Please post all entries to this thread.
I'll announce the winner in the thread.
I'd like the device to look good at 100x100 resolution (which is about the size I'll be using it).
Other than that, it's a green field!
I'm really looking forward to see the entries. For details on the Vanguard League (Victory Server) and it's members, please see the link in my signature. -
On behalf of all the Vanguards, a huge and warm thanks to Doug for doing such a fantastic job on our poster
This really exceeded our wildest expectations and everyone is really thrilled!

Indeed! Consider this a request then.
And thanks for putting the site back up! I know it's a great deal of work, but it's appreciated. -

My first attempt was just a list of HO's available with the Global handle, and another list of HO's you're looking for. It didn't seem to be that helpful.
Ideas?
[/ QUOTE ]
I think it needs that, but it also needs to be searchable, e.g. I need a damage/range, who has them and what are the bids?
I could imagine an interface where you have listed each type of HO followed by a list of sellers and their asks. That way I could tell at a glance who had what available. I could click on the sellers name and PM a bid, and perhaps the site could tell me how many bids have been made already.
The problem with the current HO thread idea, as I see it, is you have to search the whole thread to see whats available, and you never know whats out of date. As I have demonstrated, I am very lazy about re-reading whole threads for things. A semi-realtime trade board organized by HO would make some sense I think becuase it would give you all the info you need at a glance.

In the spirit of honesty, I have no idea what you had designed before so if it looks like this and failed for some reason, let me know. -

There's a queue for that, take a number and I'll try to insult you at a later date. -

set up HO trade section on it. That would get a lot of use.

what he said. -
you might want to give it more than 12 hours before drawing that conclusion...
personally I liked the site and would make it a point to register my Hami Raids there. If it were back, I would continue to use it.
