  1. And then some of us grew up, and realized that appearance alone does not constitute fact. This is quite aside from the notion that, even if they DID "kill Jack's characters" out of spite... so what? Frankly, I'm monumentally unconcerned with any such reasons for the decision. To me, they didn't "kill Jack's characters", they killed Statesman, Sister Psyche and Malaise. I could posit any number of viable theories as to why these specific characters were chosen. They'd be as devoid of factual support as THIS drivel. The only pettiness and spite I see clear evidence of is among the players who are so desperate to see it in someone else.

And it's not just /my/ opinion. Others share the opinion.

And I can accept there was other reasons involved. I haven't seen any other reason that has made sense though. Care to give me some?
Thoughts? Coincidence? Again, entirely irrelevant. I don't form uninformed opinions about such things, much of the time. But perhaps I was trying too hard to explain via implication. Let me try a different tack.

I see absolutely no need to ascribe ridiculous motives to the decision. No, it's not just your opinion. It's apparently fanatically cherished by a great many people. But it's an OPINION. Yes, you're entitled to it... but it's never going to be gospel, until such time as some disgruntled ex-employee writes a tell-all book claiming this was the case, at which point all of you can pat yourselves on your collective backs for being "right all along". You can even form a "drum circle", if that'll help.

At the end of the day, they're still dead. Move on.

That's what it comes down to.
In your opinion. Which is likely to have little or nothing to do with someone ELSE'S reasons for making the decision.

    Quote:
When people were guessing who would die, there were plenty who thought it would be Statesman to get rid of Jack, but they hoped it would be someone else.
An honest point that still has absolutely nothing beyond a coincidental relationship with the actual reason for the decision.

    Quote:
Losing Sister Psyche just made it seem even more so, when they could have gotten rid of so many.
All of whom would have upset just as many people, for various and sundry reasons.

    Quote:
And it's not like superteams haven't had multiple psychics on a team before, so the idea of needing to get rid of Sister Psyche so they could put Penny on the team is silly.
Irrelevant, if their intent was to maintain the same "balance" the team had previously.

    Quote:
Not to mention, even with these deaths, I haven't seen anything that puts my character as the top hero of the city, and I don't even want that.
The top? I didn't really get that from their prior comments. More relevant in the overall scheme of things? That remains to be seen. And... you don't? Well, that's you. When you're empowered to speak for everyone else that plays the game, please let us know.

    Quote:
If the game says you're the top hero, then what are all the other characters you've teamed with and done all the content with?
Your peers. And how is this "new" in the game? I saved Statesman from Tyrant ages ago... just like "everyone else".

    Quote:
Personally, I just want to see the game treat you like an A lister, more so if you actually show it, instead of the Superman icon status.
Funny, I got that feeling around level 40, for the most part.

Lastly, in my opinion, the people who are kvetching about Paragon getting rid of Statesman and assuming it was for purely petty, vindictive motives are the people who can't accept the notion that there was any other reason involved. This is typical in people who make such decisions themselves for the same reasons.

    Think on it.
  4. Honestly, the only opinion I've had regarding the death of Statesman? "Gee, it's about time they got rid of their Superman rip-off."

He was (to me) far more a rip-off toon than Mantibat ever was.

  6. Seems like a multifaceted issue, to be honest; an incongruency between multiple game issues and the idiosyncrasies of the playerbase's individual systems. I extensively upgraded my system back in Feb, and I've had absolutely none of the problems that a great many people describe, either here or in numerous other threads, regarding numerous other post-i22 issues (Mastermind pet insanity, among others). It's certainly not JUST the game itself... but it's definitely the game itself.

What are you trying to accomplish here? Getting someone to understand the difference between causal and coincidental relationships? That way lies madness.

In my experience passive mode makes them stop whatever they are doing immediately. TPN has always been trouble for MMs, and that is well known. Yes, I have seen the thread about them doing an all MM TPN, and that is awesome, but it doesn't change that TPN is hard for MMs.
Actually, as an avid MM player (by far, my favorite AT), I had a bit of a revelation when I first read how the TPN was supposed to work. I wasn't initially sure how well it would function, but thus far it seems to operate "as expected" (from my own perspective, of course).

In short, I started using an "Attack / Passive" macro for my pets. Having read the issues associated with killing camera crews and civilians, I did a bit of "out of the box" thinking, but was still surprised that this actually works. My pets attack my chosen target and nothing else. They never waver, never deviate, never change targets, never give up... until the target is down. Then they come back to me and await further instruction, ignoring any and all other potential targets.

I had finally gotten the behavior I had always expected from my minions: absolute obedience.

Granted, there are drawbacks, the primary of which is no Bodyguard mode. On a melee-heavy primary, such as my necromantic main, this means I'm in the thick of it lacking a key defense. Since I'd learned ways around this a long time ago (many of which depend on the specific secondary and epic pool choices), this wasn't a huge problem.

To be fair, I have not tested this extensively on a Beast Master yet, and I've noted some erratic behavior in the tier 1 pets (wolves) that may make this stance a bit more problematic. Mainly their tendency to charge and attack my desired target, and then run over and... bark at?.. another nearby enemy, thus aggroing it by proximity, before returning to attack the initial, intended, target. They aren't actually attacking/damaging these secondary targets, just... taunting them, apparently.

I'll presumably know more when I've seen if the later pets (mis)behave the same way, even under the attack / passive command. Other folks here who've pregressed farther than I with the set may already be able to experiment with this.

I'd ask who you were playing, but I was a bit out of it for much of the TF; was still shaking the last of the laryngitis I picked up the week before. The only other specific player I knew was on the team was my wife... and I don't even remember which toon SHE was playing.
  13. Still see members of Omega Sector out and about, but don't know or habitually team with them, so couldn't really drop specific names.
  14. Got my DP/NRG Blaster, Agent Stiles, from 44 to 50, between a Moonfire and an ITF.

That will "flush" their aggro list, but if there's a persistent affect hanging around, they'll aggro again as soon as they're put back on either Defensive or Agressive.

As for this starting with the advent of i22, I can guarantee I haven't done a Lambda (or any other itrials, for that matter) since then, so any comments on my part would be speculation.
  17. I don't run many Lambda, find them annoying, personally. But a quick question: does Marauder have a really large AoE aggro/debuff power of some kind? Having played a LOT of MMs, this would be one way to get the behavior you're seeing.
  18. On the other hand, ridiculously hyperbolic comments don't exactly constitute useful input, either.
  19. Well, since you didn't bother describing this "decorative item", no one who looks at this thread has even the remotest chance of answering you. Then again, grousing about it here is always going to be far less productive than /bugging it.
  20. Next up: a Fairy Nurse pet with a magical band-aid buff that reduces debt. Or perhaps that should be a Miniature Demonic Lawyer with a Chapter 11 buff.

    Cannot find map!

All servers are affected, all characters on the character select screen show "Map: Unknown"

Looks like the entire map server is down.
  22. You could already be making interest on my (former) money if you took pre-orders...

    Awesome looking stuff, folks!

Might have been asked, but any chance of getting the jar-brain as a "head" in the bubble helment? Already saw the (not unexpected) issues making the beast heads impossibleā„¢, but the floaty brain shouldn't have that problem.
  23. Planning two new Doms for tomorrow, actually - a Dark/Fire "evil sorceress" type, and a Mind/Dark vampyri. Already have both costumes designed, and the vampyri is a pretty passable facsimile, if I do say so myself. I've been waiting a LONG time to play the latter, and the Psi/Dark Blaster just wasn't cutting it for me, thematically.
  24. Had the same thing happen to my account, Leo. Ended up being inactive for about 8 hours. Had a lengthy discussion about the merits of the billing system that spontaneously decided my card was "unavailable" (whatever that means). Despite my marginally terse responses at times, I've been assured that the "lapse" should have no adverse effect.
