If you've bought the various boosters, you've already been paying more than your base subscription price to get those optional items.
  2. Meh, this is no longer even moderately entertaining. After seeing the fantastically dismal "trailer" for i21 that was shown at SDCC, frivolous quibbles like this... are frivolous.

Everyone has a right to an opinion, even if that opinion amounts to "Why do I have to wait for my toy when someone else got theirs today?" We also have the right to keep out opinions to ourselves. Or the right to express them in a rational and adult manner, and move on. We have the right to form and express opinions about other people's opinions, up to and including "Grow up."

However, when it comes to this game, we really only have two rights: to continue paying for it, and play, or stop paying for it, and leave. You can go away mad, but you can't take the ball with you. It's not yours.
  3. So... I watched the i21 trailer for the first time, today.

I really have only one question: Why did they forget (at least) 4 years of slow evolution in their advertising style to make... this?..

Okay, TWO questions: Does someone over there not LET you make interesting ads?

Not wanting to seem insulting. I'm just terribly frustrated when, on the one hand, you say you want to draw more people into the game, and on the other...

Let me say it a different way:

You have to grab people's attention!

This is an amazing game. Make something amazing. Put it in front of people. Let them be amazed.

  5. I still have one saved, more or less patiently waiting for them to fix and restore certain maps to the AE, specifically the "Floating Ziggurat", in this case.

The story that ended there centered around the player(s) looking for the clues needed to prevent a cosmic avatar of destruction from destroying/devouring all reality. The last mission occurred "outside" the Universe, and previously mentioned map is the ONLY one that ever conveyed this for me.

Just 4-5 missions of short to medium length, some complex dialog, an insanely powerful "godling" to thwart at the end, even some "help" to recruit along the way.

Personally, I felt that one of the arcs charms would have been that the contact, another cosmic avatar, actually communicates with you via the AE system, superseding whatever "fictional mission you were planning on playing", as a reasonably safe way to reach you without damaging the timestream. My own little nod in the general direction of the 4th wall.
  6. Meh, I have such a stellar record for not winning contests that I think I'll just buy it when it goes live. Even the RL RNG hates me, probably more than any in-game one.
  7. Quite aside from the fact that a protest of one ≠ "strong"...

I dislike farms because, when I want to look for an arc that was designed for the purpose of being an engaging story, I can't find one amid all the blasted "chaff". I down vote them because it is one of the few tools available to me to weed them out of my searches. And frankly, I never go there looking for farms. I find farms, at best, amusing once and terminally boring thereafter.

For me, it would be the "simple" ability to flag arcs so that they don't show up for me on any searches, rather like an "ignore" list. I flag something once, and it doesn't show up again for me, locally.

It's been a sporadic problem in the zone for years. Magic 8-Ball says "outlook poor". And no, I'm not being completely facetious - best bet is to log in and hope for the best. If you wait for them to fix it, you're likely to be waiting a long time...

I'm going to build one now, just so I can steal that.

Got it just fine, my own point being that, if a team leader doesn't bother looking at the powersets of a Defender he's just added to his team, straight random selection will favor him not getting what he's expecting which, in my experience, is a Def with single-target healing. Surprised you didn't get that.

Not just Virtue; server lag has been (slightly less) severe in Sharkhead on Justice for some time, as well. May have something to do with the always laggy zone event (Ghost of Scrapyard and entourage), but has gotten ridiculous and needs looking into.

    Thank you
I do believe she's been working on it, but she's going to be at the IGDA Conference all day for the next two days (Mon and Tue). Not likely til after that.

As he would have been whining more about the pulses destroying his stuff he summoned more then about some leader.
Ummm, you just answered your own question. Why would he bother using Triage Beacon when a) it's a static +regen field, and thus impossible to apply meaningfully to a group moving between reactor controls, and b) gets repeatedly destroyed by the radiation pulses and multitude of enemy AoE attacks?

*By the way...looks like people on this thread trigger off the dark/dark part.......Op said he played a traps/pistols....
And then went on to discuss having to deal with similar prejudices when playing his Dark Miasma Defender. Yes, we did catch that part.

Now I don't think that Twilight Grasp is the best power and should need to be spammed but I still feel that there is a time and a place to use it.
The flaw with the typical moron's perception of Dark Miasma is that it's capable of specific, single-target heals. As any non-moron can tell you, it's not. And therein lies the rub with a LOT of Defender primaries. At least the morons know that Kinetics is "good for something" beyond "just healing the tank". And even Kinetics is better at this than Dark Miasma.

Looking at the entire list of Defender primaries, and what they're capable of in a "healing" context:
    • Cold Domination: ST Heal - no, AoE Heal - no, Rez - no
    • Dark Miasma: ST Heal - no, AoE Heal - yes, Rez - yes (AoE)
    • Empathy: ST Heal - yes (x2), AoE Heal - yes, Rez - yes
    • Force Field: ST Heal - no, AoE Heal - no, Rez - no
    • Kinetics: ST Heal - no, AoE Heal - yes, Rez - no
    • Radiation Emission: ST Heal - no, AoE Heal - yes, Rez - yes
    • Sonic Resonance: ST Heal - no, AoE Heal - no, Rez - no
    • Storm Summoning: ST Heal - yes, AoE Heal - no, Rez - no
    • Traps: ST Heal - no, AoE Heal - yes (+regen), Rez - no
    • Trick Arrow: ST Heal - no, AoE Heal - no, Rez - no

So yes, any dimbrick that sees the blue shield and automatically assumes "h3410rz!!!" is exactly that... a moron.
  18. Heh, well, look at it this way: once it triggers on a given attack roll, it won't STOP, either.
  19. Nope. In my experience with AR (several attacks), Dark Blast (Gloom) and Fire Blast (several attacks), Scourge will never kick in part way through a DoT. If it triggers on the first tick (essentially, on the initial to hit roll) then it affects the entire damage flow. Otherwise, there is no added damage.

  22. What the?.. Are you people TRYing to kill the hissy fit and actually have a reasonable discussion, here?!? Where's the fun in THAT?..
  23. Personally, I *do* play a lot of Doms, and have been lobbying to get Dark Control/Domination and Dark Assault (mostly the latter) for a long time. And while I'm disappointed it's not here with this round of proliferation, I've gotten the sense that Paragon is working on it. As such, I'm content to wait til it's ready to go, rather than getting released with a "throw it in the pool and see if it swims" attitude.

As for what "rights" being a paying player entitles one to, some folks may want to go back and read the EULA that we all have to click "accept" on when we log in, but I can easily sum it up:

    1) You have the right to play the game.
    2) You have the right to stop paying for it, and quit playing the game.

There. That's it. Nothing about updates, graphic improvements, new content of any kind, bug fixes, anything. Granted, if all of this never happened, a lot of folks would be exercising right #2, but that's really all there is to it.

Nope... still not quite right. Needs a good "foot-stomping tantrum" animation. Maybe with a good, solid "angrily shakes fist at an uncaring sky".
