Quote:Interesting. Was mostly basing my lack of insight on my experience with Diablo 2, in which certain attacks animated faster with successive attacks, by dropping animation frames. The momentum animation and the non-momentum aniamtion are actually 2 completely different animations, theres no speeding up or slowing down.
If you have momentum the game subtly uses an entirely different power when you activate it, vs then when you dont
Do all the animations in the set have only two "modes", then, i.e. "accelerated" and "non-accelerated"? -

Heh, the only Stalker I've kept playing past level 14 (my previous record) is my level 26 kin/nin. And my only real quibble about KM is the silly noise it makes.

Quote:Haven't test-played the set yet, so my input would be limited, at best. But I'm wondering how much of the "animation oddness" is dictated by the visual requirements for making the animation work. The degree to which they had to "add" frames at lower speeds, and "remove" frames at higher speeds. These things are lacking, for the most part, in the animations shown in that earlier video. The character looks like they're a righty trying to be a lefty. It would be like me trying to throw a baseball with my left hand. I may get the ball where I want it to go, but it will look a little funny. It simply is not up to the standard we've had thus far in this game.

I'd be cool with anything that got bases noticed by the community at large, particularly the f2p players, and especially if it finally sparked more-than-superficial dev interest in supporting and adding to them, again.
Edit: Oh, and sadly... agree about the "snowball's chance" thing... -
No, the school backpack you bought at Wal-Mart does NOT make you look like a Malta Sapper...

Actually... if I remember correctly, I actually tried this with the Barbarian Set. I bought one piece, and then tried to buy the set, and it wouldn't let me. I forget the exact error I got, but it translated as "you already have (part of) this item".

On a similar note, burying Maelstrom's feet in a dozen trip mines before talking to him in the tip mission.
"These? Oh, don't mind 'em. They're just... security devices... to ensure our illicit meeting isn't disturbed. See the little laser-sensor thingies?.."

Sadly, I won't be able to make it. Started a new job within the last couple months, and am already scheduled to take as much time off as I'm comfortable with (2 days next week, in fact), at this stage. I do know that Dark_Respite/@Samuraiko is planning to attend, though she hasn't said yet whether @The Brownies will be going with her.

Quote:If you do that, you'll get covered in pickled brain-juice. Takes forever to get those stains out...I'm not saying it's bad, but I'm going to sleep on it, hehe.
And I've been begging for the brain-in-a-jar ever since I got my neck-bolts, back with the Science Booster. -
I dunno, Koishi, that pic DOES rather look like a crash due to driver issues...

Actually, having woken up a bit more (and drunk enough tea to drown some of my mid-shift flippancy...) I'm wondering - if you're mainly after a tank that would have better staying power against AM, might Elec Aura work better?

Quote:If they have more than one "random" object weapon, you could make several otherwise identical costumes, but with different weapons, and "pick something else up" for each fight. The rail crossing sign looks just as silly to me because I have to think "Why is he just carrying around that sign everywhere?" I could see someone tearing it up as an impromptu weapon but lugging it around through an office building or Crey lab? Can't he afford a real weapon? Heck, at least sewer-shield sort of makes sense since a manhole cover would make a decent shield if you're (super)strong enough to heft it about. A rail crossing sign just looks impractical.
Did something similar with my MA scrapper - one costume alternated the attack animations one way, the other looked the same, but "flipped" the animations. -
Quote:Expressing the opinion "I don't like it" is fine, openly justified or not. Saying they "wasted their time making it" and/or "they should have done something else (I like) instead" demonstrates a rather high degree of disregard for anyone else's desires or interest. Again, the only thing I had a real problem with, here.Paragon has finite time and finite resources both bought with consumer dollars. I see nothing wrong with giving my opinion of how they spend those resources. Which isn't to say they're required to listen to me or anything but I at least get a voice.
Another example: I love Dominators. Second favorite AT in the game. But when people started complaining that, because Dominators got nothing for i21, the devs should have "not wasted their time" on the stuff that DID come out with i21... well, I wasn't content to let that slide uncommented, either.
And since MMs are my favorite AT... I've gotten pretty good at being patient about what powersets are released for them... for previously mentioned reasons. -
Quote:Fair enough. I don't have a problem with someone disliking, or even hating a power, or a costume, or pretty much anything else. I don't have a problem with such opinions being expressed as personal opinions. Just gets my hackles up when it starts to slide over into the "so it's wrong" category. I don't like Superspeed. Aesthetically, I dislike having nuclear-strength athlete's foot while it's on. But I don't think adding it to the game was a waste of anyone's resources, and I don't really care if anyone else uses it. If the effect doesn't bother them, more power to 'em.I'd like to apologise unreservedly to anyone who was incensed by my less than positive assessment of the above mentioned epic new powerset. When I first heard talk of titan weapons I imagined all sorts of options that could fall under this heading, bloody big swords just wasnt one of them.
To be fair I guess I should have expanded the "I don't understand why the devs would bother to waste time on these." part. It's a melee weapons set, maybe I'm missing a trick here but I'm assuming it's going to act very like BS except with a bigger sword. While waste and time perhaps was too strong it doesn't feel different enough to what already exists. Why do they need a completely new set for that? Why not just offer bigger weapons as a selection within BS?
If the damage is relating to weapon size BS does a fair bit, these would need to be one shotting EBs if size matters.
Re: TW rehashing BS, there *is* a new mechanic associated with the set. "Momentum" is supposed to accelerate the animations/attack speed as an attack chain progresses. As advertised, I'd love to see this in action. -
-
Seconded. A lot. I can understand not having a new pet set terribly often, with all the animation resources involved, but the rest?.. Yeah.

What he said was:
Quote:I don't understand why the devs would bother to waste time on these.
Other than them wasting their time? Let's be fair here:
1) They spent time designing a new powerset they though some players would like.
2) They were obviously right: some players are going to spend time building and playing Titan Weapon characters.
3) You're not going to waste time buying or using the set.
No one's time was wasted.
