What? I call Bull! Doctors are only men... Nurses are only women. Get back to your drugged out love in you hippie!
  2. I like how you are just straight ignoring the notion of the Paragon Store offering these items. What if the Store has items exclusive to the store... how many people would complain that they shouldn't have to "pay" for costumes? What about the "vet rewards" that you can buy straight out of the Store... kinda unfair to those that earned them with actual subscription time.
  3. almost forgot...

If these items (except the Incarnate Armor that is) are for sale in the Paragon Store, how many of you are gonna drop Subbing and go Premium? I mean, since you don't get iTrails without subbing and the items might be in the Store what's keeping you from just running free?
  4. ....

    ok...

anyone wanna stop for a moment and imagine the Paragon Store selling these "nonIncarnate" specific costume pieces?

I mean, for crying out loud... a lot of you are whining that you "want" another way to obtain these items. Paragon Store just might be the thing. We won't know until the beta allows more/all of us to test this... but Jeezus H Krimminy... stop and breathe.
  5. we need more sexism. I'm sick to death of people referring to the female supers as "heroes"... thems "Heroines". Actor - Actress. Steward - Stewardess. Doctor - Nurse. Got it. More boobs please!

if this offends you, then I earned my cookie I'm currently eating.
  6. low level content? Yeah... the new tutorial is as low as you can get, plus the new 20-25 Preatorian zone, not to mention addition missions throughout.
  7. dear lord, another thread... thought this was all being discussed in 3 threads just below this one...

There is plenty of content that is being added to the game that isn't iTrial related. Plus the simple fact of the UNLOCKABLES being "exclusive" to the iTrials/Incarnate merits is only limited to the Ascension Armor for fact. The other bits are currently only available through the same Incarnate Merit vendors, but keep in mind that we have NO IDEA what the Paragon Store will offer. Breathe please.
  8. you mean like the shoulder pieces you get for completing requirements for Taskforce Commander?... got no problem with them locking content behind other content... been playing for over 5 years and still don't have those damn pieces on any of my toons.
  9. again, I have to say... what if they are offered in the Paragon Store? That's a big "what if", but if they were wouldn't that change the tune?

For me personally, I preferred the Alpha slot system. It let me go where I wanted and didn't preach "trialtrialtrialtrialtrial" from every pore. But most especially it didn't involve sitting around for 30 to 50% of my play time just waiting for the event to start.
this. For most all my toons (alt-a-holic) I only have the Alpha unlocked... very few after that are even slotted. The ones I did slot are plenty strong enough for me to allow me to grind solo at x8 to earn Incarnate XP and shards. Plus my play time is severely hampered due to RL... got no time to log in at scheduled iTrial times to be able to jump on a team let alone wait the 30-50 min for the league to form.

I say they are hating it purely on an artistic talent scale.... to hellz with your interpretation of the presented postings. :P

    o.O How dare you!!
  14. I hope more posts come up about how bad the artwork is... I wanna see David cry.

I mean, damn... you guys are brutal and beyond critical. I'm not gonna say I enjoy the facial expressions or ethnicity issue BaBs is having, but I enjoy the composition and pretty colors.
  15. as far as the difficulty of the new trial goes...

Seems to me that the same complaints were levied at the early trails. Then people played 'em till they mastered them. Now they gotta new chore to master...

I give it a week before the grumbles stop. Plus, who knows, the devs might tweak Keyes...

Enter the Trials and the content (costumes, auras, etc.) now locked behind their Merits. If you want this stuff, there is only one way to get it, and it is going to take a LOT longer than 30 seconds. The player is left with one option of game-play-mechanic by which to get this new stuff: play the trials. Suddenly, the player's experience has been diminished; to get what they want, they can no longer choose what avenue of game-play they wish to pursue. Thus, you have your "force."
Has anyone thought that perhaps the more mundane of the costume/aura items (anything not Incarnate Armor) might be available for purchase through the new (as yet to see first hand) Paragon Store?

I mean, the devs said that the armor was locked behind content for a specific story theme reason. Currently now it's awarded account wide with a single purchase of merits (that is to any character that is 50). If the lesser items were made available through the Paragon Store, would that make a difference of opinion?

Not to put a dampner on all this but the Freedom version, sounds like what Cryptic/Atari did with Champions and maybe Star Trek with the free and paid versions, which is fine, need to complete and make this version better and have people join up. THis new Galxy tutorial does sound slightly familiar to Champions where to start in the middle of a battle, go up some levels before jumping into the full game, just IMHO and 2 cents...
sure, you can say that... except that CoH doing it means it'll be ENJOYABLE.

I agree... I stated "digital/photoshop" route first to save the time for everyone else who would jump right to that answer. The rest of my response pointed to traditional methods (pencil paper and Xerox). The next poster agreed and pointed out a Free software that could do the digital method.

I believe a strong understanding of sketching, form and practice makes for a better artist... not a magic button/filter. However, once you are comfortable in the traditional medium "Hellz Yes!" branch out into the digital. Explore ALL options to you. Never put yourself into a corner.

    good luck
  19. short answer: Digital route.

    Scan image in to computer.
open Photoshop (or other image manipulation program that allows for layers)
open image and create layer over, set layer style to "multiply"
draw clean lines on new layer over image.

    Analog (pen/paper) version:

Get a hold of a "non photo blue" pencil.
Prismacolor brand has one called just that... find it at a well stocked craft/art supply store.
    Make sketch with that pencil.
Once happy with sketch, clean line with regular art pencil.
Photocopy image... blue will not be reproduced (hence the name "non photo blue")
adjust/clean photocopied version with ink pen or pencil.

That was a way a friend of mine used to do his stuff... kinda a pain.

Pro tip: work on your sketching. If you are ending up with a complex scribble that is hard to figure out (even for you) then you need to tighten and form your sketch more. Thumbnail a batch of ideas before jumping straight into a workable sketch. Once you start, smooth lines to lay the form... never stagger, or scribble the line. Get in the habit of committing to the line from start to finish... build a rhythm. Practice practice practice.

    best of luck

    *********EDIT:**********
just got a gander at your deviantart page. browsed your sketch gallery. I see what you might be talking about. Yeah, it looks like you are "over" sketching. Heavily drawing over the lines again and again. Your sketching also shows the "stagger/scribble" line I mention. Your end result is good as far as form, I think thumbnailing would help a lot. Get a feel for the motion of the image, the first sketch line should represent the flow of the character or subject. A smooth soft "S" for the arch of a back and thigh for example will get the start point of a figure. Always think of movement and build your confidence with your pencil. Hope that helps.

  23. Subjective (with a hint of encouragement):

I just don't like the new faces. I understand what they did to achieve this new "art magic", but I agree... they look like plastic dolls. The methodology of what they are attempting shouldn't be scrapped... it should be refined. Keep playing with it devs.
  24. I personally have no issue with the way Steam Jump was implemented. If it were made avail at lvl 1 like the GvE jump pack then they would have needed to increase the recharge time to match the jump pack. The 30 sec cool down makes it more beneficial then the Jump pack... not to mention it has a greater horizontal movement then the GvE pack.

Now, I have "played" with it, but in no means "stress tested" the thing... for a quicky/quirky travel power (in a pinch) it works well. Good on ya devs.
