    Solo stinks

My advice is to be sure of what you're going to face. The enemies in CoX are diverse enough that you can't just launch a few attacks and be done with them unless you're built for that sort of thing. Which is of course, the main point.

If you plan to solo often, the plan a solo build. I've never played a Dark/Fire Brute, but all i know is that it isn't something i've heard often being used as a solo build.

Also, from other posters, gaining XP takes quite a while longer than the previous levels that 'a level a day' is exactly that. Or at least, it has been for me. More often 'a level and a bit in about 6 hours in a team' ..
    Carnies? Where? Where?

    *drools in anticipation*

    My Spines/SR loves carnies.

As was being pointed out though, each enemy group fares better versus some power sets than others. Malta were a nuisance, but not the pain I was led to believe. Sappers missed most of the time. My big thorn are the CoT. Earthcasters shut me down, spectrals seemed to be resistant to my attacks, Behemoths hitting with uncanny accuracy and taking 1/2-2/3 my health in one hit. Each group will have issues.

My scrapper loved Vanguard, my mm hates them. As others are saying, including the Shattered, find what you are good against if that is how you want to play.
  3. To me, Praetoria is simply a quick way to get my toons to the side I want them. Sure I am reading the arcs, and have been entertained so far, but I rerolled 2 toons for the express purpose of making a villain that is really a hero, and even wrote my bios as such. I am also using it as a quick method to get two hero ATs over to my villain group. I have yet to make a new Praetorian. My original Praetorian was a Peacebringer named iloivaR, a nod to the Mirror Universe of Star Trek in that he is a good Praetorian that was trying to escape. This was 2 years ago that he was made.

Eventually I will make some Praetorians, but until then, the story really has no affect on me. It's just good writing.

Now I think GG has a problem with villainy as I recall. By her own words, she had no toons redside, (I do not know if that has changed in the last couple of months.) To here, a villainous AT is a villain. For me, most of my villains are anti-heroes. I do have one villain that simply wants to kill off mankind, but most are about accruing personal power or power for their organization. They do not like Recluse, Arachnos, or some of the more vile arcs. I play them because I like the ATs.

Bring this over to Praetoria, there are heroes and villains on both sides of the equation. As was said, no one has clean hands. Yet, GG can't see that, and has tried to shout down any oppostion to her point of view via tired political rhetoric from the real world.

    Darn Praetorians!
No. Most of us suspect it's a marketing issue again, and they assumed big new numbers and did not want to scare away new players from the forums with, you know, intelligent, civil discourse on anything BUT this game. Truthfully, with the rules as they are, they can lock down threads about Marvel/DC Heroes as they deal with other games and the competition.

The sad thing is, of the other MMOs out there, they all freely allow the comaprisons, and make allowances for civil political discussion. Even still, their communities suck. This is the only forum I read regularly.

That almost goes beyond the shameful lack of creativity these pop creatures display...

I mean, trying to be risque' and get attention by singing someone else's tame attempt to be risque' and get attention?

Wow. Seriously, wow. It's scary that the music industry just doesn't even try anymore and they can still get money from people. Not that there was ever a time that popular music was anything more than black souled record label executives stealing from people but this really has to be some kind of new low--for pop music as well as the people that buy it.
The songs are totally different actually. I liked her first album, but I have not looked into the second. The critics are saying it is rather weak compared to the first.

As was said, she is on Sesame Street due to the fact that she is popular with teens, and has been on many kid shows.

Do you remember the Kids Bops albums? THey were completely inappropriate for children. One of the songs they marketed for kids was John Mayers "Your Body is a Wonderland" and another was Shakira's "Whenever, Wherever". The lyrics alone on both songs should have been a clue.

My poiint is that many kid friendly shows make misakes like that.
  7. Speaking of the cake cave...

I just did the Jewel of Hera quest for the umpteenth time, and I loathe that quest as most of the time, it uses a Cake room. It's bad enough that the map they use is one of the largest in the game. It makes a mission very painful.

You see, my issue with layer rooms it a combination of time and XP. When I get a mission to defeat a boss or grab Statesman's chimichunga from the hungry DE, I know that the mission can be quick. I will find whatever I am looking for, killing mobs as necessary, then go to the next mission. Layer rooms change that. There are signifcantly more mobs to find and kill in those rooms, and heaven forbid something runs. It takes more time, and gives me more xp.

Before someone spouts off on how more XP is good, let me say that not everyone wants to outlevel their missions constantly. As it is, some levels just fly by, and on those odd occasions I group, I easily outlevel content.

Yes, I know we are not meant to see all the content with one charcter, but there is a difference to not seeing all the content and missing important badges or missions that lead to other contacts. A good example is how easy it is to miss the Ourobos badge redside, or how easy it is to out level the Faultline content, or missing a needed badge for the Mayem/Safeguard missions due to out leveling an entire tier.

For the record, I do use the NO XP option from time to time, but I should not have to use it all the time.

Yeah, but that is DC comics... *wink*

Seriously, I was never into many of the older DC Comics. I found out about the Doom Patrol while watching the Teen Titans show, and I was a little baffled by it. Just goes to show that the internet is a good thing and helps us research background information.

That was a hilarious line in that episode.

    Well that sucks lol.

edit: The wheel chair is interesting, but at least they are not saying they are the first group to try it. Back in 80's/early90's there came out a new comic called Radioctive Rolling Rock Ants or something like they. They were a TMNT tipoff of course, and they had one of their ants in a wheel chair, with the claims that they were the first group to actually have a super hero in a wheel chair.

Ever hear of Professor X? I mean seriously.

And eh, sequels are usually fine by me. The ones that are detrimental to the series instead of adding something are usually pretty obvious.
Evil Dead II was not a true sequel. It was a reshooting of the same movie. It was also not very scary outside of his wife popping up right outside the window after dancing with her head.

Evil Dead III, (God I know this will be an unpopular statement) was not a horror movie. It was a bad comedy. Yes there were some funny scenes, but it was so far removed from the original Evil Dead, I could barely place the two. Let's just consider Evil Dead III a sequel to Evil Dead II and ignore it as a trilogy.

Over all, I did not like II or III, but I found III to be worse than II. Just my point of view.

I have to agree about loathing that map, but any layer room is atrocious to me. Having to look in all those nooks and crannies becomes very frustrating.
  16. Kind of liking his new look, the Arabian Knight. I might have to find some more pics of him to use for images of another character of mine.

Hmm, I recall them being mentioned in the forums when they were first announced. I still have not heard anymore about the Hindu super heroes they were trying to make into an MMORPG. Though games are banned discussions.

No clue about those guys. I recall an Arabian style character as well in Marvel .

This Silver Scorpion is in a different universe that I can tell of.

I hope that link works. There is a new hero called Silver Scorpion that is getting ready to debut. A young man in a wheel chair that can control metal with his mind.

    It sounds interesting.

Biggest misstep in the TV Hulk was the Thor movie. Daredevil worked OK since he really isn't super powerful but what they did with Thor was just embarrassing.
I deny the ogling. I was to young. I had not even hit puberty yet.

*Looks at images of Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman*
  21. I have an idea. Cole is Equilibrium. As in the movie. He saw how far emotions would take mankind, and decided that he needed to be charge to get rid of said emotions, (enriche). He has to violently oppose all those that are not following the path as not to let them corrupt those that are already following the plan.

This is why we finally have dual pistols, to make Grammaton Clerics.

Disclaimer: the above statements are in no way in support of either faction, and bear no resemblance to reality. Said poster has not completed any arcs in Praetoria, and is talking out his ****.
  22. *Prepares Pvp gripe*

    *sees the words flagged*

Ok, ignoring that in other games flagged PvPers seems to trick PvErs into PvP, I have to say this is not a bad idea. I do not PvP, never will in this game, but I know that pvp is popular with some people. This would allow for the expansioin of the game for both factions.

There was no way you could do justice to the Hulk as shown in the comics at that point, not without CGI or a much larger budget. And if you look at Spider-Man with Nicholas Hammond, that show suffered way more than Hulk did. As for Bill Bixby, he's in 90% of each episode. The show was Banner-heavy, because it needed to be. And honestly, I think he sells Banner brilliantly. Out of all the characterisations of Banner, his is probably one of the strongest, and every time I hear the 'Lonely Man' theme (I think that's the right name), I can feel the sadness and loneliness as his Banner walks off to another town.

Show me another portrayal of Banner that's as haunted by the Hulk as his and I'll concede that to you happily.

    S.
    And here we differ.

The theme Lonely Man irritated me to no end, and to use it during Norton's Hulk detratged from the movie for myself and my wife.

Here we agree to disagree. I never liked the TV series, I feel it was not true to the comic. You liked the series. So be it.

We're in agreement on that fact, right? Not on my initial gender assumptions, but the point of the matter. She was born in the US and is a citizen of the US not of Spain or France or Zimbabwe. But the US.

If she was born in Spain she would not be a US citizen. By the same token, a person born in Praetoria isn't an American, but is a Praetorian.

    -Rachel-
Oh we are in agreement there at least Steam. It's a minor issue in reality, and does nothing for the conversation as it was being said.

Please keep in mind that a citizen is not the same as someone born into a country. Case in point, Arnold Schwartzenager is an American citizen. He was not born here, but he is an American citizen. He is still Austrian.

Historically speaking, after the 3rd generation, I no longer consider a person a part of their forefather's culture, but part of their new culture. Those people who can trace their linage back to the Mayflower, how they go on and say they are English, or to a Dutch settler in the 1700's. They are not more Dutch than I am. I have the same issue with many of the African American's. They have passed that 3rd generation rule, and not one of them can ttell what slavery was actaully like. They can talk about segregation and prejudice with full knowledge, but they no longer are part of the tribes that they were taken from 200 or more years ago. They are American. Mind I have very little research proof to back this theory up, but I maintiain it's true. (Heh, yet another thing to learn in college.)

Back to the op, America in the universe is dead, as are most other countries. Cole, whether he was American or not when he was born, is no longer American. He is one of the few people alive that can truthfully talk about the America in that world. Like many times in history, the business of survival does not include historical reference points until the society is stable. Even still, Cole is the rightful ruler by designation of the people of the planet. Should he relinquish the reins? Not until Hamidon is gone for good. In many ways, Praetoria is a military state.
  25. edit: Ok the post was rather rude, and political to boot. GG, whether you responded to this or not, I am sorry. I will be reporting my post to a mod later on. I may not like what you say, but that gives me no right to say anything you may view as an insult.
