Quote:I like these ideas, aside from rocket thrust. Forcing movement away from the enemy is just as bad as scattering them to the four winds.Energy Blast theme - Rocket Propulsion
-Rocket Thrust > Power Burst one or the other. Rocket Thrust would simply have no knockback. Instead, this power would repel you backward. Rocket Thrust and Power Burst would have similar animations (and identical cast times) but where PB would mitigate the enemy, RT would grant the user temporary flight (8 seconds) and propel the user further from the foe they're targeting as it's dealing damage...if you don't like the flight, talk to the Gull but it will always repel the user backward. RT also grants the user 1 stack of 'Rocket Propulsion'.
-Comet Strike > Power Push one or the other. Comet Strike would be an downward arcing ball of energy that would strike the enemy and knock them high into the air and inflict -fly on the target. Comet Strike also grants the user 1 stack of 'Rocket Propulsion'.
-Comet Rain > Explosive Blast one or the other. Comet Rain would do the same damage as Explosive Blast but activate much slower (I'd put it at the same activation as Breath type attacks) and acts as a placed targeted AoE like Rain of Fire. This power has no secondary effects besides granting the user 1 stack of 'Rocket Propulsion'. This would do the same damage as Explosive Blast and I'd imagine the animation would be throwing a beam up that then scatters and rains down on the foe.
Although, your comet strike and comet rain sound like REALLY interesting concepts for an "Energy Control" type of set. Technically a human being's body is FILLED with energy. WHy not allow a hero to "tap" into that energy through the use of a tether/whip. Like the hero recahes foreward, lifts his arms in the air, and pulls one arm up. While an enemy is hurled into the sky from your control of his body's energy. Much like a ball and chain.
-Take Off! > Nova one or the other. You engulf yourself in so much energy, it harms you as you take off into the sky at the speed of light. Take Off is a PBAoE nuke with the same damage as Nova with the added benefit of teleporting you away from the area afterward. You simply target a place like you would Teleport and you nuke the place you stand and appear where you target. Take Off costs a moderate amount of endurance but debuffs your Max HP and Healing by 50% for 30sec. This also grants the user 5 stacks of 'Rocket Propulsion'.
[/QUOTE]
Quote:I like this Idea. You could make it a targeted AoE and Teleport onto self. So you execute the attack, the animation leads you hurdling towards the target. Then you are teleported to the place where you executed the attack. I love it :3 Although, it would make a much nicer crash nuke then -HP nuke...blasters die enough -

Having some picture posting problems at the moment, will be fixed soon o.O
Hey guys! I figured it would be fun to post this little experiment because i NEVER hear about people doing this on protector anymore.
A good ol' fashioned sewer crawl. That's right, not that DFB stuff, the real deal. No hospitals, no trainers. You start at level 2, and fight until you die.
We started with eight people, and my level 2 blaster as the leader
Then the fun began! We killed everything in sight and followed Kyo's magic trail of breadcrums so we couldn't get stuck with mobs of greys.
Then we made it to the boomtown entrance...45 minutes and 12 levels laterWe lost two bodies somewhere in the sewers....couldn't really find them. I think they washed away.
Then we hunted from the boomtown exit, to steel canyon.
I can honestly say that this was 12 levels well earned. It was SO nostalgic and totally worth the time. Brings back memories...Thanks to everyone who participated! Hopefully this will become a weekly event if this thread generates some interest. -
I've never been a fan of claws melee. The only custom weapon i like for it is the vanguard one...which i can't get until i level up the character, or buy.
If you guys made a DRILL model, similar to the placement of the vanguard claws...I would not only buy it, but use the mecha set that i'm not extremely excited about.
Why do you ask? For fans of Gurren Lagann, this should help.
Completely awesome drill claws...please.. -
In continuation of my last post...
#3..a) Debuff resistances in dwarf. With the low base damage and high endurance cost of solar flare The best i can do is lightly juggle mobs while my endurance is drained...Debuff resistances would be so helpful. -
1. An ally rez.
- We have "glowing touch" thrown in there. Either that was a half-baked attempt to make PBs more supportive, or someone trying to fill up a power slot after they finished making warshades as awesome as they are. If we're going to have an ST heal, it would be nice to have an Ally Rez to go with it.
- A 3 second animation time is NOT worth it for a low mag 2 stun. The power itself has a low chance of hitting every target, and only works on minions. We have nothing to stack with it to make it effective.
- Kheldians are supposed to be the "jack of all trades..master of none" AT. As it stands, warshades have a controlling human form, a close defensive dwarf form, and a ranged offensive nova form. Peacebringers have a Ranged offensive nova form, a close defensive dwarf form and a...*Knockback everything* human form. 'Shades have their melee range controls, why can't peacebringers have a melee offensive form [in the form of a scrapper/stalker.] Since they are both two different ATs it would make sense for them to have differing areas of expertise. *whispers*like a tiger, or a panther or something >.>*
On terms of Kheldians as a whole:
They both should have different areas of expertise. They are different ATs, so having different strengths would make sense. Scrappers and tanks are both melee types, but scrappers specialize in more melee damage, and tanks specialize in more melee resistance/defense. Kheldians should be treated the same way. 'Shades specialize in control, apart from the form abilities. So peacebringers should specialize in something other than KBing everything :P -
Middle costume. Holy carp that's magnificent. I wish i could hire you to make me an awesome costume. lol

I promised to keep everyone here posted. I'll update the OP for upcoming information as well, for any new comers.
So here's the plan guys, in nice neat bullets so its easy on your eyes:- I have a list of characters I will be DEFINITELY including in the canon of the comic. I won't post them here as to not discourage new character posts and such.
- Storyboarding for chapter one has begun! It's title: The Calm Before the Storm.
- I will be doing the art manga-style. For those of you who don't know that means black and white with grey-scale shading. This is just to conserve time for myself, avoid a recurring costume color palette/theme (purple and black :P) and maximize the amount of chapters i can finish by the end of the summer. (August 15th.)
- If everything goes according to plan, I will be releasing "The Calm Before the storm" the second week of May. The link for my freshly made blog will be posted here.
I've skipped past most of the costume designs right now. I'll send them to you guys before introducing your Khelds into the comic, just to make sure everything's A-Okay!
Speedy. OUT! ;D -
Quote:This is absolutely fantastic! D:I try to get a piece of artwork done for each character that hits 50. Some get more than one, some non-50s get them. I'd had a nice freebie that had been done of my Fire/Fire blaster (well, one of them) - Hot Purrsuit - earlier, but I hadn't commissioned a more detailed piece.
I'd gotten nice work done by Cric before (like Therra Malevola, a ways above, still one of the more popular bits I'd had done) and since he was available, I tapped him for this. Don't even think I mentioned her having super speed... Love how it turned out.

Quote:THanks. That'll really help. Once i get into sketching everybody inA couple images of Incarnate:
The first is of Lucas Colston, the identity he goes back to when visiting his mother in Steel Canyon, or when trying to keep a low profile on the city streets.
[Snipp'd]
The second is Incarnate's normal outfit...though typically he has the Rook chest detail (forgot to disable the SG emblem). Colston's mind immediately went to his idol Statesman, and the simple costume bears testament to that. Notice he appears appreciably older and much more built, in his mid-to-late 20's.
[Snipp'd]
With normal chest emblem:
[Snipp'd]
Finally, we have the Armored Incarnate. This is what Incarnate changes into for particularly difficult challenges (read: Task Forces and Trials). He knows he isn't invincible, and thus is adding layers of protection to his uniform.

Quote:Theoretically, you could simply add the zooming reticule animation from the Munitions Blaster Epic pool, as found in the Surveillance power.I have to aggree with some of the posters...
I too thinks the snipes should give no aggro to anything around the target it hits.
I also think it should do what its descriptions says....and actualy do extreme damage.
And weairdly i think on blasters these things should be longer ranged.
I realize this would alow a blaster to sit back and shoot things at super super long range....but good gravy...if thats what a player wants to do then fine.
They have a failry long recharge and are interuptable and they take time to shoot....so why not allow the blaster to actualy sniper things....
If it was possible i would say change the way they work so they work like sniper attacks in first person shooter games...where the blaster would get a scope and reticle and be able to make head shots....
But that would require a huge mechanic creation.
So i dont think that would ever happen.
But that kind of mechanic would definatley make them stand out as an archtype thats for sure. -

Quote:It's never to lateI know this is probably WAY too late, but I thought I'd write out Incarnate's story to share with everyone else. He is definitely a leap before he looks type of character, always with the best of intent. This shows off in-game by racing ahead of the rest of his team to confront the enemy threat, confident in his own abilities to hold out *just* long enough for everyone else to get there. He's always willing to lay it all on the line to ensure that the hostages are rescued, or teammates are saved, no matter what the cost is to himself. Costume pictures will follow once I get back home.
-------------------------------------
Human name: Lucas Colston
Kheldian name: Radiant Cascade
Peacebringer name: Incarnate
Lucas Colston was, and in some ways still is, an average fourteen year old boy living in a city full a super heroes. He avidly collected the latest newspaper clippings of good triumphing over evil in all its forms. His comic book collection of real and make believe heroes rivaled the best his classmates had collected. In short, he was a hero worshiper who had no illusions of grandeur for himself.
Lucas knew that he would never amount to hero material, and he was content with that. He was bright, but not brilliant. He was athletic, but not exceptionally so. And while he could track down who ate the last of the cookies his mother had baked before, he was no great detective. Besides which, the city had enough heroes to save itself a hundred times over.
Every night after PCN had finished its recap on the heroic exploits of day, Lucas would lock himself away in his room. Sitting at his desk, he'd retrieve the hidden police radio that his uncle had given him in secret several years prior. Volume turned down low, he would listen for hours as police called in the help of heroes across the city. Bombings were averted. Hostages rescued. Villains brought to justice.
Much to his dismay, the broadcast that went out one evening involved a building just two blocks away from his home in Steel Canyon. Hellions had set fire to an apartment complex, and so close to home. He knew he shouldn't go. It was something he had promised his uncle upon receiving the gift in the first place, that he would never use the radio to see a crime in progress. But this was his chance to see his heroes in person! See Positron deploy some gadget to snuff out all of the fires at once. See Synapse run fast enough to extinguish the flames. The possibilities lured him quietly out his window, and towards the inferno.
The flames were intense. The PFD were on-scene, but it was clear that they were no match for the roaring flames. Worse, the shadowy forms of Hellion arsonists would occasionally duck out from behind the building to rebuild a blaze that the PFD had extinguished. It was intense, and Lucas soaked it all in while waiting for his expected heroes to appear.
He waited. And waited. The flames grew more intense, and the cries for help from within the building grew more urgent.
"No one is responding on the radio!" the Fire Chief said.
Lucas' head whirled towards the Chief in shock. No heroes? None? No one coming to rescue those within the building?
"Are you sure?" one of the firefighters yelled back over the raging crackle of the fire.
"I'm sure! Skyway and Atlas reserve firefighters are on the way, but that's it." The Chief eyed the blaze again. "They won't make it, this building is going to come down any minute. Start pulling your people back."
"NO!" Lucas shouted, stepping out from car he was hiding behind. "There are people still in there!"
"Son, anyone still in there is behind our reach." the Chief said sadly. "Without the heroes, we can't get to them."
Lucas then did what any fourteen year old would do: he acted without thinking the situation through. Pulling up his collar around his face, he charged blindly into the burning building, homing in on the noise of crying from the upper levels. He wasn't trying to be a hero, that was the furthest thought in his mind. Indeed, his brain caught up with his body moments later and he stood paralyzed in the stairwell.
"What am I doing?!" he asked himself aloud. His body turned back to the entrance on his own accord, driven by an all-consuming fear. He took two steps before a cry for help pierced his consciousness.
"Help us! HELP US!" came the voice just one level above where he stood.
He had a choice. His adolescent brain had forced him into the building. Fear had turned him away. He was tired of his choices being taken from him. He knew he could leave the building and no one would think any less of him. None of the firefighters had rushed in. Or he could do what was right. What was called for in situations like these.
He headed towards that cry for help.
Minutes later he and two women, a mother and her four year old daughter, emerged from the building covered in soot. Lucas struggled to breathe from the smoke he'd inhaled, and struggled all the more when the mother threw her arms around his neck in a fierce embrace.
"Thank you! Thank you thank you thank you." the woman mumbled into his shoulder over and over again.
News cameras had arrived on the scene while he had been inside, their lights blinding him. Reporters droned on about the situation, but it was readily apparent that they wanted statements from Lucas.
For the second time in the night, he froze. He wasn't supposed to be out this late, nor by himself. He wasn't supposed to have the police radio that let him head here in the first place. He had broken more of his mother's rules in one night than he had in the previous six months. Instead of answering any questions, he ran.
-------------------------------------
High above, another watched his flight from the scene. It hovered, unnoticed by the crowd milling below. It had watched the entire incident, for much the same reasons that Lucas had. Radiant Cascade was newly arrived on Earth, and had been directed by Sunstorm to seek our a willing, and worthy, host. A hero just cutting his teeth in the fight against evil would allow himself, as well as his host, to carve a new destiny for themselves.
Cascade was surprised when no hero showed up to fight the blaze, and was further shocked when the young boy had charged into the building without other assistance. That the boy had been successful only fueled the intrigue. Thus when he ran, Cascade followed.
He watched as the boy snuck quietly back into his room, and observed the small form rocking gently on the bed.
"Why didn't anyone show up? Why? " Tears rolled down Colston's cheeks, forming small rivers of soot. Angry red burns covered his arms and neck.
"You did." Cascade's voice seemingly came from everywhere, and nowhere, within the room.
The boy shot upright from his bed, grimacing as the action tugged at his burns. "Who is there?" he asked defiantly.
Cascade phased into view, a wisp of light that illuminated the bedroom. "I am called Radiant Cascade. Your people call my kind Kheldians. Peacebringers."
The tension drained out of the boy's face slightly. He'd heard of Peacebringers. The police radio had talked about their own Kheldians, the Awakened Division. They were the last line of defense for the blue shield. "What do you want?" he asked.
Again the voice came from everywhere and nowhere. "To bond with a hero. To become more than the sum of our individual parts."
"Then why are you here?"
"I've found my hero."
The boy's jaw hung slack as he considered the statement. Moments passed before he replied. "I'm no hero. You're looking for someone like Back Alley Brawler or Manticore. Positron or Synapse. Swan or..."
"I've found my hero." the voice interrupted, this time with an edge to it. "None of those threw themselves into the flames today to save those that needed saving. You have no powers to call your own, no training, but you did what grown men with both were unwilling to do. I choose you."
"I just did what had to be done."
"Boy, I have lived for thousands of years amongst many people. In all that time, there has never been a better definition of heroic action than what you just said. You are a worthy partner. Let us help each other."
The boy looked to the wall where his Statesman poster was hung. It was signed by the hero himself, shortly after Colston's father had died. "Strength and courage, Lucas" it said in broad, sweeping strokes. It was a living testament despite Stateman's passing. "Ok. What do I…" His breath cut off in a gasp as Radiant Cascade entered his body, the two becoming one. The burns disappeared in an instant, replaced with smooth unbroken skin. And in his mind…
Memories from dozens of lifetimes, hundreds, cascaded through his consciousness. He witnessed the death, birth, and life of stars. The exploration of comets and asteroids. His arrival on Earth. His rescue of the trapped women, seen from high above. All of these memories and more flashed by before settling to a deep, abiding peace of mind.
Are you there? he thought to himself.
I will always be here. Cascade's voice echoed inside their mind.
What do we do now?
What you did tonight. What is right.
-------------------------------------
Several months have passed since Colston and Cascade bonded into the Peacebringer known as Incarnate. He currently serves as a member of the Shining Stars, alongside Twinshot, Grym, Dillo, Flambeaux, and Proton. He finds great enjoyment in his new metamorphic abilities. To the outward world as Incarnate, he looks to be an athletic man in his mid 20's. Only when he returns home to visit his mother does he revert back to the boyish figure who recently turned 15.
As a hero, Incarnate displays all of the youthful exuberance that comes with Colston's young age. His Kheldian counterpart is often exasperated, in a fatherly way, with the adolescent urges to leap without looking. Cascade seeks to temper that recklessness, without squashing the enthusiasm behind it.I still got two weeks until i offically start up the work for this little project! I really love this bio, a young kid in a group of older heroes, guided by the fatherly Kheldian inside him.

Quote:You did a fine job good sir! *tips hat*Thanks for the compliments! Yeah, make whatever use of them you can when you can with my blessing, just being able to share my characters and read about other players' is reward enough for me. Being a spy would suit Iscariot's personality nicely, as he prefers not to use his powers until absolutely necessary.
Elements of Iscariot's backstory were originally kept unknown because he was conceived as a crossover character between City of Heroes and the universe of Joss Whedon's Angel as though they were taking place in the same world, and Charles is a legacy character based of specific characters from that series. Therefore, in the interests of not being generic'd, vagueness! But I think ultimately it's worked in his favor.
Fourscore is entirely my creation, and I only found out that DC's Captain Atom was named Nathaniel Adam over a year after I'd written Fourscore's backstory. I refuse to change it on principle, because I like the sound of the name I picked.
I love it too :3 It's kind of like the counterpart to our Kheldian Fashion Thread. The "Kheldian behind the threads" so to speak. -
Quote:Your warshade has perfect memory!I'm a bit late to this particular party, but it's always a pleasure to see everyone's investment in their Kheldians. I don't know if mine would be of interest or not, but I'm happy to contribute just the same. In the meantime I'll enjoy reading about everyone else's characters.
Heroic Identity: Iscariot (Warshade)
Host: Charles Raiden
Kheldian: Unknown
Charles Raiden spent his childhood at the sides of heroes, the comrades-in-arms of his late father. Although his father did not possess any sort of superhuman powers himself, Charles was frustrated constantly throughout his youth by what he saw as his own weakness. His mother tried time and again to help him see reason - but as she herself was a formidable mutant with her own long list of accomplishments to her name, Charles was convinced she was simply humoring him and would hear none of it.
Insecurity soon became obsession, and as Charles entered his young adulthood he was easy prey for the agents of the Council, who promised him a power unimaginable. Rationalizing that he would make up for his misdeeds once he had real power, Charles quickly became overwhelmed and was slated to be consumed by one of Arakhn's Nicti. The Nictus chosen to consume him, however, observed his childhood memories and saw in Charles a host that might offer it a chance at being more than a shock trooper in Arakhn's war, a war it had long since tired of fighting. It chose that moment to break from its past life, seeing in Charles a strength which might give them both a chance at something better.
Reborn as a Warshade, a fusion of human flesh and alien energy, Charles saw the true price of the great power he wasted so many years of his life seeking. His perfect memory recalled every sin he rationalized away on his path to power, every crestfallen look and snuffed hope he left in his wake. Although Charles now wields great power indeed, there is little he would not give to atone for the innocent blood and wasted time that were his powers price. Despite having earned the respect of many in recent months, the warshade hero Iscariot is often bitterly critical of himself.
Heroic Identity: Fourscore (Peacebringer)
Host: Nathaniel L. Adams
Kheldian: Eumenides
Born into one of the wealthiest of Paragon Citys old families, with roots going back all the way to the old colonial days, Adams coasted through primary school and university without any real interests to motivate him, spending more time at the fraternity house than the classroom. While his father encouraged him to take an interest in politics and world affairs, Nathaniel could rarely be bothered to so much as open a book.
It is therefore not surprising that Nathaniel was completely unaware of the dangerous game his father had been playing in funding heroic initiatives and grassroots organizations aimed at undermining the power of The Council and its mysterious leader, The Center. The Adams clan operated as a source of support and funds for such groups for almost twenty years, until the day when the family mansion exploded in a fiery conflagration that claimed the lives of every living Adams. Except one.
In the aftermath of the explosion, Nathaniel came to realize the legacy his family had left to him as well as the likely cause of the bombing which had claimed his familys lives. Despite his conviction that the Center was responsible, neither the investigating police nor the citys heroes were able to conclusively link the tragic explosion to The Center. To Nathaniels eyes, it seemed as if those his family had sacrificed their lives to support had simply given up on them.
Angry and frustrated, Nathaniel began to train himself in criminology, detective skills, languages, physical conditioning, anything that seemed to be useful in the pursuit of the mysterious mastermind at the heart of The Council. This fervor drew many offers of sympathy or condolence, all of which Nathaniel rejected. There was one, however, who offered something more than just empty words.
Nathaniel was training late into the night in his converted loft, a playboys penthouse transformed almost overnight into a Spartan training flat. A stranger approached him, the intrusion unwelcome, and as Nathaniel turn to tell off the interloper, he stopped short and stared at the glowing alien eyes of the cloaked figure before at him.
The newcomer pulled back his hood to reveal the wizened features of a man perhaps more than a hundred years old. His voice sounded like the cracking of old parchment when he spoke. "I had begun to wonder if there were yet any men in whom the spark of vengeance still burned you are the one I have been seeking. And, I think, I may be what you have been searching for as well..."
The stranger spoke long into the night. He explained that he was called Sharpsword, host to an alien being of pure energy who called himself Eumenides. Sharpsword had been bonded to Eumenides as a Peacebringer for nearly eighty years, long before most of the other Kheldians arrived on Earth, and hinted that he was far from the first Earthling to do so.
With the aid of Eumenides, Nathaniel would be gifted the power to put his training and his knowledge into action. Rather than engineer the downfall of those who destroyed his family, he could bring them to their knees personally. The joining process could not be reversed and was necessary for the alien to survive, yet it was willing to die rather than settle for an unworthy or unwilling host. If he refused, both the old man and his alien companion would perish before the dawn.
It was no choice at all.
Joining the fierce, uncompromising passion of the Kheldian Eumenides with his own zeal for justice and newfound appreciation for his familys proud history, Nathaniel Adams took his place among Paragon Citys heroes as the hero Fourscore. To honor of the long and glorious career of Eumenides previous host, Sharpsword (whose grave Nathaniel visits weekly), he makes it a point of honor to serve the city with distinction as he goes about his private mission.
Over the ensuing months since his rebirth, Nathaniel has discovered that Eumenides perspective on justice is decidedly more draconian than that embraced by the most of Paragons heroes, but oftentimes it can difficult to tell just who is holding whom back - the human element seems to fuel Eumenides rage as often as it tempers it, and Nathaniel is not without his own demons. He is honestly unsure what he will do if Fourscore ever does manage to track down The Center. Perhaps put him in jail and tear down his organization brick by brick, undone by a boy he likely forgot about long, long ago. Perhaps something more... visceral.
Only time will tell.I've been looking for another good spy.
I love your bios, they're a great read.
More characters are always welcome, just don't expect an immediate introduction. -
Quote:Oh! that makes a crap-load of sense! Either way it's a well written piece regardless (I meant nothing personal in my first reply by the wayThanks, but, hmm, bear in mind that I wrote this before the light-form changes. I think it's safe to say Peacebringers are a bit tougher now

Quote:Awhile back, I wrote a little piece of fiction for Seminova following the Roy Cooling affair, delving on the question of whether every bonded Peacebringer should be afforded the priviledges of a hero (namely Medi-Portals), regardless of their actual performance on the field. I don't know if it interests you, but here's the link if it does.

Although it does blatantly point out that peacebringers don't quite live up to their counterparts (according to popular belief) it's an interesting story. I really like it
It might not be exactly what I'm looking for to put into this project, but it's a great read none the less! -

My only worry with dark is that i'll have no other form of protection. I'll be going HIGH recharge to get the nuke up as often as possible, so toggles are out of the question. Aside from that, the only midigation dark has is it's stuns. Psy has the ungodly regen of drain psyche, and with perma hasten i'm like 3 seconds shy of perma.
