something i sometimes put across but didnt here this time : / ...
Aim,BU,snipe is an ok starter if u are a ranged blaster type, for the melee intense its less good, and this is why.
I run in, and if its a big mob, aim, BU, ball lighting (AoE)/Short Circuit (PBAoE, either order, depends), havoc punch, charged brawl, thats four attacks, and i wouldnt mind saying if i didnt want to use SC i could get a blast extra in (i dont use single target blasts). If its a smaller mob (4-5 or less), i waltz in and aim, BU, havoc punch, charged brawl, thunder strike... whatever, this is only three attacks but the last has a long animation (total focus style), but in those 3 attacks ive killed 3 things, done minor AoE damage to everything and KBed everyhting. now i might be rambling, but in the time it takes to aim, BU, snipe, run/sprint/hover/jump (but not tp so much, although 2 sec animation or so), i have prolly just hurt one enemy, maybe killed them, and got a stack of ranged aggro and snipe having a 4 second animation then say 2 secdonds to run into melee (cos face it, blasts even with aim and BU are a joke now, especially soloing the highest two reps), so 6 seconds to kill 1 mob, pretty laaaaaame if you ask me, which is why as i've said a million times before, blasters had melee as long as they've had range powers, melee for blasters is not broken, it's a simple part of the risk/reward system in CoH.
long story short, snipe wastes precious part of your 10 seconds slef buff from aim/BU/PB/BR etc and then running even more, just get stuck in and melee their [censored], alternatively if you are a fire blaster, get stuck in and fire breath/ ball/inferno ftw (or reroll).
hope that made some sense, and on an aside, even as a blaptroller i keep snipe, nothing else other than my long range hold which i'd rather save for when things are near) can hit a runner, and i'm not the swiftest blaster around if you havent seen me, so i use snipe to mop up, also a stalker can do what he likes but if that snipe hits him with defiance as he runs and u got 1 good melee in, he may well *squish*, and damn him to hell for being a pesky stalker!!!!ARGH!!1one1!

most of the */elec powers does take stun enhancers. Havok punch will also be allowed sleep enhancers with the upcomming patch though. Has always been wondring why you could slot electric meele for stun.

i dont think aid self was very standard in blasters (although many non forumites tried it, only cos it sounds good, no blaster guides used to have it in), un til i started ranting about it when i realised in i4 it would sort me out a treat(even more than power sink for end). anyways...

AR is nice as it has a +5% base accuracy to compensate for draw time.
most people play ice/energy/elecc primaries if they want to be that little bit better, whereas people who play AR 'just want a gun', if u like the gun, keep it, i have an AR cos i wanted a gun too.

compare a lvl 18-40 fire blaster to an elec or ice, and to a lesser extent sonic or energy blaster, whos gonna win 10000-0 once the BFs are gone or in a poor-average PUG pvp team? thats my point really.
my advice for all blsaters, be able to move fast in melee and range, have aim and BU 3 slotted recred, and have aid self well slotted too.

seriously, consider anyhting except fire for a pvp build, u have no control and the extra dmg is almost pointless (compare this to bonus control).

aim is aower u should have imo, i played for about 8-9 months without it as a blaster and kicked myself so bad when i got it on my 2nd run through!
+100% tohit
+67% dmg
recharge is good wnough to use each mob or more if u have 3 recred and hasten running.
PvP wise is a MUST!
consider a tohit or 2 if u are using it for pvp purposes.
if u still want to hit more get tactics

P.S. build up is equally as impotant, also note that blaster do sub scrapper damage without these 2 powers (if they are available) and its the self buffs which let u get above the silly 200% ish dmg range that ED imposes. -

Basically you need a primary that gives you some control and a secondary that gives you big attacks to bash stuff with and a bit more control for good measure.
Elec/Elec or Ice/energy probably give you the best options for blapping, elec/energy and Ice/elec work well too.
Elec/Elec is probably going to give you the most hardcore mele orientated build, you can pretty much get in there and stay in there once you've learned how to take advantage of your end drains and holds, however it's a set that really becomes effective at higher level. Elec/Energy works along very similar lines, less holds, but with the stun element in the attacks instead, using power boost to make short circuit effective instead of combining it with power sink to get a reasonable amount of end drain.
Ice/Energy or Ice/Elec on the other hand give you far more versatility, very good ranged options, and in the case of ice/energy a secondary that very much supports your primary in addition to three good, strong, mele attacks.

Got it in one. Elec/elec comes into it's own later on, and I'd use a couple of recharge and dis-orient slots with acc for charged brawl rather than go for Havoc Punch as well.

P.S. also HATE: fact that many PvP battlesa re over in 2-4 attacks, not very epic OR involving imo -
basically not fire 1. or 2.. take a self heal, and later an armour, maeks ure u can move fast, so either slot swift or sprint and think of CJ or 3 slotted hover.
remember melee takes more end so end issues, /elec deals with this well but not until 35, /nrg copes from 18 ish but not full time, there is downtime. primary wise, nrg has defence in KD/KB, KB dist is bad if u are very melee intensive like an elec/elec blapper, nrg primary gives more dmg with subtle control, where elec primary gives more control directly butless dmg, no KB but heavy AoE and PBAoE dmg. ice primary is lethal but onyl single targets mostly.
aim and BU 3 slotted with recharge are a must also as early as poss.
a proper blapper doesnt get hit when, or not more than once or twice if they do when fighting even an invincible (+2/+3) mob, think about how u are going to make sure u dont get hit.

well, basically u can transform salvage into either tech or arcane units of workable items, like tech power or arcane essence (iirc, been a while), dreamer swaps around the work benches/forges to build what she can and use as much of our salvage as poss, she is kinda self appointed base editor
if u want to place something and can build it, 1st check that we dont have 1 already, then check with dreamer or me or some1 vaguely important to see if its ok to place it, there are other things we need, but for now i want an insp despenser! hehe. we have enough prestige to last tho, but be warned, if u delete a personal item u lose the item and dont get the salvage back, so generally wise to ask first. ToeBee is ur local information point i believe
if u need to meet dreamer then PM her if u dont see her on regularly, u can only carry 20 or so of most salv items, but an infinite variety as i understand it.

as has been said, 3 recred in aim/BU are nigh on essential, this isnt just for pvp, since ED, blasters rely heavily on self buffs to keep ahead of scrapper dps wise, u will still struggle due to lack of AoE in ice/.
PS will let u run no stamina no probs if u run 1 toggle only, or end reds in heavy powers like thunder strike, the melees really should be 2 acc 3 dmg follow by 1 endred or recred, bear in mind that recred will kill ur End/sec etc. cant remember if u got hasten, but /elec is pretty shoddy without it, even with heavy recred slotting (tested this and it really is noticeable to the point where mobs take twice as long or w/e).
agree with xan RE swift/hurdle vs hurdle/health, health kills defiance and imo aid other 3 slot with heal and aid self with 3 heal+ any combo of heal/recred/inttim SOs is far superior to health, not sure about post i6 but pre ED Plights downtime from 1 hp + 1 end was 32 seconds to full end/hp. oh btw, original point, any blappish build needs movement speed over hp regen anytime.
aws for shouting at defenders, well thats my job, but i wouldnt advise it, there are certain things not to say (like heal me pls to an empath, silly thing to say, or even worse rez pls).
a note on acc, u do not want to miss, and u ARE capable of +3s in this build quite easily, add to this the teaming factor and u will find that without tohit buffs etc u will let urself down both teaming and soloing, pvp wise this is the same once u pass a single acc SO.
shocking grasp is pretty much unimportant but will give u more control, the ranged powers have it covered, but u will feel it without when solo, teamwise u dont really need it.
think thats about it, add those tohits to aim and BU if u like, but 1 will be enough usually outside of pvp, i dont even bother with that in my current spec.

but its reassuring as the sg thread is quiet. i wont leave, far from it, taking some time out to spend with my friends, watching every episode of x files ever, eating lots of pizza and i started teaching drums again in town so now actual have a real income again i hope. the scarf got finished before xmas btw, nothing new on the go there, but i may learn cable stitch n see what i can knock out.
