Of course, someone might say that if it's OP on Scrappers it's OP on Tankers/Brutes, but you need to remember those ATs only get 80% damage bonus out of Rage, Tankers do relatively piss-poor damage, and Brutes need to maintain high levels of Fury to keep pace with Scrappers.
  2. I hated my soldier until 24. Now at 30 somethin, she kinda bores me BUT I know I'll enjoy her more once I get her pets.
  3. For the record, I did make another EM brute. She's EM/Inv and will never take ET, Stun or TF. And she's going hero side to be my "tank."
  4. At 50 my EM/FA brute was heavily IOed toward recharge for healing flames, had darkest night which I placed on every spawn and stacked on the melee defense I had gotten, had tough and weave and used burn for its fear effect to add more mitigation.

I deleted him and remade him as a dm/wp. As Talen expected I would say, the combo sucks.

Here's the kicker: If you team with a lot of buffers, you can leverage FA's extra damage output. The downside is watching enemies die while you're stuck in the 3 second long animations for ET and TF. Nothing's quite as fun as seeing enemies die before the damage you were going to dish out lands.

If you solo a lot to avoid the above, get used to leaving your difficulty at levels that other brutes will snicker at behind your back.

EM/FA was the perfect combo for my vision of Lucifer's avatar in the Rogue Isles. But being able to reach my level of acceptable performance is out of EM/FA's reach.

Elude seems really powerful, so it seems more benifical to get Elude and stealth for the defense bonus.

P.S. Why Boxing over Kick, Kick you don't need to pop claws again.
When you've reached 45% defense to melee, range and aoe, elude becomes nothing more than a long recharge run/endurance buff. It quite literally does you no good defense-wise in PvE for 99.99% of the content. You're better off getting conserve power from the body mastery pool.

Kick causes redraw just like boxing does. All pool power attacks cause redraw. Brawl does not because each set has its own brawl animation made specifically for not causing redraw. They are both throwaway powers beyond using as mules for SetIO bonuses.

For the record, I can solo my claws/sr against +4/x8 spawns. I do not have aid self. I did for a short time as a PvP exercise but hated it.

Couldn't agree more. However, come close to GR golive, I will be one of those making damn sure that I have nothing on the market one way or the other.

This is in a world with people who can read minds, see through walls, predict the future, etc. It's utterly absurd to think there could be an open pipeline of goods flowing through Went's to and from the Rogue Islands without anyone knowing about it. Once discovered, the company would be shut down, permanently, no saving throw. (Not necessarily by the government -- what do you think e.g. Manticore would do if he had solid evidence Went's was dirty?)

In order for this state of affairs to persist, it must be the case that Wentworth's is openly corrupt and is being protected by the government -- which is simultaneously refusing to recognize the Rogue Isles, embargoing and giving support to the Phalanx's private war against such, etc. Which makes no sense. It doesn't make much sense that heroes would knowingly market their Weapons Of Mass Destruction components through a company known to be doing business with superhuman terrorists, either, but the average player doesn't give a fig for such trifles as world consistency.
Yea, such a consistent world it is, too. Huge items of power are stored in a vault by a magic hippie-chick that can't keep anything protected.

The world is being invaded by an alien race that only attacks one very small city on the coast of North America. Oh, and that little group of islands over there.

Enemies on the streets are capable of having their intestines sliced out of them and tossed a quarter mile away but they're able to be teleported to a hospital and repaired even though the PPD doesn't seem to be able to track anyone attached to this teleportation system.

    Wrong.

Captain America, Daredevil, Punisher: these are "standard hero strength"

Spider-Man can lift 10 tons. That's 20000 pounds. As per The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe.

If SM chose to, he could punch a common thug through his rib cage and yank the guy behind him back through the first guys chest.

Other non-tank super strength characters include Sunspot and Luke Cage

Odd thing that. A while ago I placed a bid on Hecatomb purples redside at 250mil each and thought at the time, "Look at those last 5 bids at 1billion+ each. I'm never going to get these."

This weekend I logged in to find that all 5 hecatombs were sitting ready for me to take. All the prices had dropped to between 150mil to 300 mil when I wasn't watching.

I'm no longer worried about buying what I need on the market. Prices go up, prices go down, patience wins.

This being the Brute sub-forum, would you mind adjusting that for Fury?
    /looks up... DOH!

If we're looking at straight burst, then we're looking at a single attack. Let's go with 75% fury, 80% from buildup, 60% for double stacked followup, 89.92% from enhancement.

Please note, Spin on a brute has a higher base recharge and thus deals more damage.

    Brute Spin: 78.83
    Brute FSC: 64.64 w/o DoT or 81.42 w/ DoT

    Spin: 78.83*(1+1.5+.6+.8992) = 315.26 damage
    FSC: 64.64*(1+1.5+.8+.8992) = 271.44 w/o DoT or 341.9 w/ DoT

So for a single spawn and a single hit of FSC, it wins when the DoT goes off.

But buildup won't be up every spawn. Double stacked followup should be.

The recharge differences between brute FSC and Spin are less, however. FSC is still at 20 (10.5 slotted) versus Brute Spin's 14 (7.4 slotted)

And since spin is still under 10 seconds recharge when slotted, it can still benefit from double stacking FU. But barely considering its 2.5 second cast time. Hmm. Why do I always forget when recharge starts... is it after cast is completed? If so, there's a good chance FU would be only single stacked on a brute. Drops it to 291 but still beats FSC w/o DoT.

Other variables to take into account will be enemy difficulty and resistance to type.

Edit: And if you really want a more accurate comparison of AoE output, you have to take into account spin, eviscerate, shockwave versus fsc and breath of fire.

    BRING OUT THE MATH!

We'll slot both with a 5set of Armageddon. That's 89.92% to recharge and damage. Both have max 10 targets.

FSC does 48.49 fire and 48.49 lethal damage with an 80% of 52.05 extra DoT fire. Recharges in 20 seconds.

Spin does 98.85 lethal. Recharges in 9.2 seconds.

    Buffed the values become:

FSC w/ averaged in DoT: 263 every 10.53 seconds

    Spin: 188 every 4.84 seconds

We'll say buildup is ED capped on recharge (25% uptime) and followup is double stacked. We'll also use a 7.5% crit rate.

    FSC: ((96.98*(1+.8992+.25))*1.075)+(52.05*(1+.8992+.25) *.8) = ~314 every 10.53 seconds

    Spin: (98.85*(1+.8992+.75))*1.075 = ~281 every 4.84 seconds

Out of the 10 possible enemies, lets say we're ripping on a spawn for 1 minute using the average times above. Because FSC does have a larger radius, we should let it hit more enemies. Let's go with 8 and 7 respectively.

FSC: 60/10.53*314*.8 = ~1431 points of damage in 1 minute
Spin: 60/4.84*281*.7 = ~2438 points of damage in 1 minute

Claws wins. Even if we drop the number to 6 enemies for spin we get 2090 damage in 1 minute.

Spin's low recharge more than makes up for the smaller radius.

EDIT: Over the last few months I've come to realize that most players grossly underestimate the AoE damage output of claws. My current build has spin, eviscerate and shockwave and even I'm surprised at how quickly I tear through x8 spawns.

Claws, the set regardless of AT, has as its secondary effect a 20% reduction in both end cost and recharge.

This is how a power is built:

    Pick recharge of attack.
An equation is applied which assigns the damage based off of that recharge value.
Another equation is then used to determine the endurance based off of the damage. (Yes, you can rework the equation to go from recharge straight to end cost.)
THEN the 20% discount to recharge and endurance are applied.

And nowadays, ANOTHER equation based off of the cast time of the attack is used to modify the damage done.

What's all this mean? Claws doesn't really get a 20% end/rec discount anymore. It varies based on the cast/damage tweak.
  20. I see 34.7 defense to Smash/Lethal. I turned on the PvP view, but the smash/lethal defense value didn't change. Are you actually seeing 45% to smash/lethal in the Totals for Self screen?
  21. Howdy and welcome to the game.

Currently the two highest population servers are Virtue and Freedom. Overall population of the game does appear to be down at the moment, but many expect there to be quite the uptick when Going Rogue goes live.
  22. I love how folks think that because they meet all the stated reqs for beta entry this somehow negates the probable existence of a black list that might block them from any closed beta.
  23. Recreating your 5+ year old main character on a different server using the same sets but with the superior archetype.

You know what else is fun? Swipe, Strike, Brawl, Swipe, Apprentice Charm, Brawl, repeat and having it be so end efficient that I never need to rest and that's with FF, FS and Sprint all toggled on.

That is all. Just felt like sharing.
  24. Gorram it.... 1000 years? By then I'll have... (mumbles...divided by... times...) SIX MILLION POSTS.... fark that.

Edit: oh crap... I am about to hit 30k.
