Point of contention: Adding Gloom to a claws attack chain reduces ST DPS due to redraw.
FU, Slash, Focus, Strike, repeat > FU, Slash, Focus, Gloom, redraw, repeat.
FU, Slash, Focus, repeat with 313% recharge in FU for no pause with a CFBU in FU and Focus and the damres debuff proc in slash is still the top dog for claws ST DPS.
The statements above were accurate last time I checked.
Quote:Don't be worried. Claws has several downsides to it that appear to make the devs happy with where claws sits in the balance spectrum.I think we should talking about how awesome claws is on brutes...It makes me nervous. -
I found it better in PvP than PvE. But I deleted mine at 50 so I've no build to share with you anymore.
-
I run FF, FS, Evasion, Tough, Weave and CJ at all times. That 17% or so dam-res to S/L that tough provides stacks too nicely on the passive scaling dam-res for me to give up.

Cottage Rules, anger from those that like the lackluster powers as is, etc, etc.
Easier (and thus more likely) to add more in so that they don't have to mess with the old. -
I agree with Microcosm. Quite frankly, I will continue to believe that the devs don't touch Khels for no other reason but how badly they were slapped together in the first place.
Khels *should* have access to the ancillary power pools and patrol power pools. Khels *should* have access to the flight and teleport power pools. Until they do.... the devs hate kheldians.
EDIT: Yes, I know that Castle did what he could to address some of the Khel concerns awhile back. Having dwarf act as a breakfree was a nice touch. This doesn't change the fact that blocking pools from only kheldians is unfair at best. -
Pretty much this.
You don't *need* CJ if you can find the defense it provides from elsewhere. Some folks don't do fighting pool or combat jumping and go with leadership and aid self while getting all the rest of the defense they need from IO bonuses. -
If you take all 6 SR defense granting powers and slot them with 3 defense SOs, you sit at around 31% defense to melee, range and aoe.
If you take no other defense granting powers and don't have any SetIO bonuses giving you more defense, the 45% defense from elude will be incredibly beneficial. Well... kind of.
For 95% of the game only 14% of elude's defense will be beneficial and you'll have to deal with the end crash. While it's up, though, you'll also get very nice recovery and run speed boosts.
If, however, you take weave and combat jumping and stick the Steadfast +3% to all defense IO in tough, get a bit more from other SetIO bonuses and are sitting at 45% defense to all without elude, there is no reason to take elude.
In PvE.
Especially since you can get massive recovery and run speed boosts from other SetIO bonuses.
In PvP, however, it's not a bad idea to go with a max recharge build which includes elude because of all the tohit buffs flying around in there.
I haven't had elude in my build for a very long time. And I do ok in PvP. -
I think the description is borked. As it stands on live, Burst always reminds me of the Consular Jedi's entrance in the "Hope" cinematic trailer for SWTOR. Big ground strike.

Quote:looks at Bill..so how long do you think you will be able to stand playing this tank?Quote:All that chin-scratching over mitigation... and you went the hard route...
I still think stone/fire brute would be a better choice, but hey, taking all bets!
Bill Z Bubba Test of Will Pool
- 2:1 Odds he gives up in one week
- 3:1 Odds he breaks after a month
- 10:1 Odds he spites us all and takes it to 50, sets it out, and makes Dechs Kaison cry being the new super-awesome tank on the block.
- 20:1 Odds that he makes a "Fire Armor Sucks, It Can't Tank Anything" thread after 50ing it, setting it out, and makes a video.
I really do hate tanks BUT... I found bruising + sands of mu + blazing aura to be nasty on bosses last night. We'll see. Until I-19 comes out and I can start gearing BZB back up with incarnate stuff, I've got nothin but time.
Hell, I recreated Celmor the Peacebringer last night as well, and my hatred of PBs runs as deeply as my hatred of FA's inherent weakness. -
I went with a fire/fire tank name Big Bang Boy.
-
Hmmm, stone melee with all that mitigation from knocks and stuns and a hold or katana with all that mitigation from divine avalanche.
Perfect for FA and its abject lack of mitigation! -
Just to throw out more ideas:
I use the following for my jumpers:
/bind j "powexectoggleon super jump$$+up$$+autorun"
This toggles on SJ and sends me flying up and forward so that I only need to steer with the mouse.
/bind h "powexectoggleon combat jumping$$-up$$-autorun"
This toggles on combat jumping and stops me dead once I hit the ground.
For my fliers:
/bind h "powexectoggleon fly$$powexectoggleon hover"
/bind n "powexectoggleoff fly$$powexectoggleoff hover"
First one bounces between fly and hover, second one turns them both off.
I also leave F for follow, use G for sprint (powexecname sprint) and B for ninja run (powexecname ninja run) -
Watched it. Still excited. Possibly more so.

The problem with FA is player perception. It should not be considered a mitigation set. Its mitigation is *JUST* enough to keep you alive in *SOME* situations. There is a reason that its tier9 is a self-rez. You're *SUPPOSED* to be squishy and weak because the set puts out more damage than any other secondary.
On a tank, FA gives scrapper level mitigation.
On a scrapper or brute, FA gives stalker level mitigation.
(Only consider SO strength on the above statements.)
FA is not for those that wish to stand tall and stay upright in battle.
FA is a bomb. Change your battle cry to "Stop or I'll Die at You!" Rush in, hit FE, BU, any aoes in your primary, burn, RotP.
BE THE BOMB.
Having readjusted my mindset regarding FA as described here, I'm now considering making one after years of naysaying the set and even going so far as deleting my first level 50 villain which used EM/FA. If I do, I WILL be slotting RotP to the ED cap for recharge and damage.
Let's see... base recharge 300 seconds... down to 150 or so with just 3 SOs, but we'll need to get as much global recharge as possible for FE and Burn... say permahasten levels... need about 110+ hasten's 70.. 180+95... 275 total in RotP... 80 second recharge... niiiiice.
I can die a LOT every mission! WOOT! -

Quote:I in no way disagree that institutionalized brute squads are a bad idea. However, that has nothing whatsoever to do with killing the guy you catch attacking a woman in a dark alley. That has nothing to do with eviscerating the woman attempting to drown her two year old in the tub. That has nothing to do with smashing in the skull of some corrupt politician.I just wanted to call this out. More brutal law enforcement is not more effective. This is a commonly held and horribly pernicious fallacy. Casual brutality with an indifferent attitude toward guilt discourages the innocent - and the lesser guilty - from lending vital aid in the form of information, testimony, etcetera. Despite being repeatedly discredited, this "tough on crime" attitude stills informs the public and political will to a dismaying degree. Please do not base your thought experiment on this false premise. Being a vigilante may be more emotionally appealing and it may allow you to force a success in specific cases but on the whole it is not more effective than responsible policing.

My "moral code" is fuzzy at best, Marcian. I see absolutely nothing wrong with permanently removing problematic individuals from society.

Being in IT, MH, I can attest to the recent spike in nastiness floating out there. My workstation had been running clean for about 3 years with nothing more than the random bit of spyware and then 2 weeks ago *BAM* trojan. I won't even try to describe the hive of scum and villainy that became of one my remote sites. I spent well over 80 hours fighting viruses and spyware all through remote desktop on about 12 machines. Lots of fun.
My assumption is that during my cleanup phase of my workstation something got itself borked that has yet to be corrected. -
Quote:As only 1 of 3 computers in the house exhibit the failed redirect issue, I'm left with the assumption that the problem exists only on the rig in question.this is really out there but how secure is your router? could it have gotten hacked?
maybe it needs a firmware update?
Since the site does function normally as long as I start with the boards.cityofheroes.com URL, I can put off the wipe/rebuild until next week while I'm "vacationing" in my new house, unpacking, and generally busting my butt getting it up to speed ASAP. -

The output from home appears to be identical for everything as the output from work except for the IP address as expected.
