Crud, stood right next to Gilgamesh and didn't even realize it. Yea, it was groovy, and I hope there's another one. However, next time, I'll be planning a pre-party at a nearby bar for us old folks.

Was anyone else surprised at the age average in the crowd? I honestly expected to be one of the old guys there, but was way off. If anything, I was the average at 33.

Back at ya Rowr. Balorn, I saw you and your cameras. I was strolling around in black, collared shirt and blue jeans, big goatee and splotchy beard.

I went. I met a couple of fellow gamers. Said hey and good job to Awry and Arctic_Sun. Missed Alexa. Chatted with CuppaJo for a few, who was almost exactly as I had always pictured her, but with different hair color. Was nice putting some faces to the names of those that have thread-smacked me.

I forgot my camera. I didn't stay long. Because there was no beer.

But thanks for throwin the meet and greet, NCSoft. Twas festive.

EDIT: Oh yea, and the systems I looked at at Cyberjocks were only able to push about 40 FPS in the CoH large lab door mission. They must need me to clean up their gear.

Built my first brute on pure concept. Louis Cypher. Devil. Needs cosmic power and fire. EM/FA. Works well. Hate the fact that I had to go with CJ/SJ/Acro for Immob/KB resistance. Next respec, I'll do a hover build and live with the immobs. He's 40 now. So plenty to play with.

Next build, got to 20 and deleted. DM/EA. Dark Melee didn't feel smashy enough. Shadow Maul, although a great attack, took too long. Made me feel like I wasn't doing enough in a fight. Also made it difficult to keep agro off of a team, because I have yet to take taunt on a brute. Since EA has no aura, I have to be able to quickly change targets.

Next was SS/EA. Deleted at 30. This is a great set. I couldn't stand the 10 second no-attack-crash of Rage. I also absolutely hate the Rage/SS sound drone and the aura was too bright.

Currently have my EM/EA at 26. He's incredible against everything except the damn spectral daemons. Checked the combat logs, dark, cold and psi damage. Very painful. Take the energy/elemental toggle early. Don't make my mistake.

Go back an reread that. I'm not Mieux. He quoted me, then did the *cough* business, implying that I was right. He THEN goes on to explain to Mieux that swipe's animation, although fun looking, needed to be changed because they couldn't multiply thedamage by 6, which is what would have been needed to balance it with the current animation.

Obviously, barrage can't have been the worst 1st tier attack power... swipe had to be moved UP to be as good as barrage.

More reason to stack tough on to dampening field. And 3slot the cloak for defense.

Not quite as good as SR, where FF + Dodge gives us around 28% def to melee as well as the scaling dam-res. Then again, SR doesn't have an endurance regen power. Or agro mitigation with a cloak.

That said, I really do hope that lucks get nerfed, the defense cap gets lowered, and all defense giving powers get bumped to balance it back out.

As it stands, it isn't every 1 in 5 hits that gets through, it's 1 out of every 3. Base 50 - 20defense is 30% chance for an even con minion to hit us.

On the other hand, let's say the cloak is at 3.blah... 3 slotted is close to 5% def... so now we're getting hit 1 out of 4 times.

No matter how I look at it, defense based sets always look mathematically far crappier than they play. <shrug>

Things to DO in CoH/V, huh? Ok.

Melee folks, keep an eye on the health bars of your squishier compadres. When they start getting hit, it IS your job to get the agro on to yourself. You can take the extra hits, they can not. This from one that plays all his characters as if they were scrappers.

A run down, FROM THE DEVS, on what each power in EA actually protects against and/or provides, including the specific long and short descriptions that the powers SHOULD be giving, AND the base values of every power in the set, broken down by type and/or position if present.

Please. This is getting ridiculous. Thank you in advance.

Be advised, when I-7 hits, Lucky and Evasion wil probably have their bases dropped to equal the other toggles and passives. This was noted by one of the devs during the scaling defense fix discussion.

To the last poster, the 4th, 5th and 6th enhancement in a power only add 5% of the base. So a 4th slot will give:
.625% per SO for a toggle and .25% for a passive

Not even remotely worth it.
