Lisar,
As it has been explained to me over the years, the reason behind the minimum team size requirement is to stop complaints of "this was impossible to solo" before they could ever begin.
Edit: Or the other option often repeated in this very thread: "It's an MMO, you're supposed to team." -
Quote:See.. This statement makes perfect sense to me and I accept it without reservation. We are getting a solo path to incarnate abilities... quite a bit sooner than I ever expected it. Yes, there will be continued discussions about the fairness of that system, but we've always discussed what's fair around here. Its not my place to tell players not to fight to change that, but I have no problem saying that attempting to do so in either direction is a waste of time.
My confusion comes in, and I touched on this earlier hoping you'd have an explanation, when the developers provide a solution to a desire while stating that they won't be changing the game to accommodate a request.
Can you tell me what the difference is between an offline SG invite to my own account and me using a free account to accomplish the same goal beyond the hard drive space used for that free account?
Can you tell me what the difference is between removing minimum team size requirements and allowing me to solo a TF as long as I have one other account on the "team" but logged off as soon as I accepted the TF from the contact?
Should these workarounds be considered exploits? -

Let's look at this last post:
Quote:But you can't understand why soloists had an issue with the shard conversion path to incarnate abilities. We have ALWAYS had viable casual/solo friendly options to persue incarnate powers.
I dont know about you but by the time we even had incarnate threads, I had so many inc shards stock piled I was able to instantly have all my level shifts when they added them on my main 50s.
I am no farmer, and rarely solo much above 2 or 3 man spawn sizes.
I run alot of exemp mid lvl tfs for fun.
Ok. -
I agree that it's a wondrous thing to have a telescope. I currently only have my dad's 40+ year old 6" refractor but watching Jupiter for a week this last year reminded me and filled me with awe at just how fast Jupiter's satellites move around it.

Nah, didn't make me feel insignificant... but the cake was tasty.

I did verify that alpha is buffing regen across the board. Be it from health, physical perfection or rebirth. So, Alpha Spiritual+Destiny-Rebirth-Regen it is.

Quote:It's not often I find myself in awe... bravo, good sir.
I guess it's a different mind-set from most marketeers who enjoy sitting around drinking tea made from the tears of the oppressed, and then swimming through all of their Inf to get a little exercise. -
Unless you plan on running either multiple instances of CoH or a lot of programs in the background, the I7 proc is overkill. You can also save a good bit by choosing the XPS instead of the alienware and get the same innards.

Quote:What's your take on increasing the base value for tanks? Should it be increased based on other tank versus scrapper/brute values?Worth noting: the original version of the SR scaling passives was, in fact, 0-25% per passive in CoV beta. I believe when someone realized that would mean it scaled to the damage cap for scrappers (stalkers only have two passives) they changed it at the last instant to 0-20% per passive instead.
Literally the last instant: it was 0-25% on the last day of beta, and 0-20% on the first day of CoV headstart.
Also, it was originallly Res(All). -
Martial Arts/Super Reflexes scrapper with combat jumping/superjump.

Quote:I was mostly bummed about the size difference.I dunno about toned down. I just think that they're going for a more natural build, which entails relaxed muscles vs working, pumped-up muscles in action.
We go from this Hulk being around 10' tall here:
To maybe 7-8' tall here:

Yes to the better on brutes and adding something unique for each AT would be great but even though they did it for shields, I don't see the devs altering the powers as they would have to to roll the aoe into focused senses.

Quote:Now when did I piss in your cornflakes?... Two of those three level shifts only work in incarnate trials, and +4/x8 arachnos is one of the hardest faction out there, if not the absolute hardest, for anyone who isn't playing something with capped DDR or close to it.
This is the kind of ignorant comment coupled with a know-it-all attitude that made me put you on ignore, alright. Shame I get to see your posts every now and then due to the forum logout bug.
You are correct. Only the alpha level shift will function outside of I-trials and DA. That still leaves the buff from Alpha, a huge aoe from Judgement, a major buff from Interface, Lore pets and, in my case at least, a massive heal/regen buff from Destiny. Against +3/x8 arachnos.
Spoken originally to another SR player who will also be capped on DDR.
I'm so very sorry to have not spelled all that out in the first place and regret my error regarding level shifts. Not that it made any difference in the end. -
Quote:As disconcerting as I find the developers' decision to nerf defense based sets in this way, I have to admit the following:Just noticed this thread today and I wanted to point out that I've used a power analyzer on most mobs in DA and DA related missions and so far I've found nothing that doesn't have that 64% chance to hit. Its -much- more common in DA that you may believe.
The DA critters are throwing a lot more of everything. -End, -Regen, who knows what else? I haven't really been keeping track through perhaps I should have been.
Having enjoyed being able to crank my difficulty to 11 it was actually refreshing to be in a situation where dialing it back a bit would have made sense.
On top of that, as we use this content to gain our incarnate abilities, the content will become easier to deal with. I'm looking forward to regaining my T4 Alpha Spiritual,T4 +regen Rebirth and T4 Reactive on my main's rebuild. Whether I can wait for I-22 to hit live to do it is another matter. -
Quote:More HP for better use of the scaling passives is part of the reason I remade my main as a brute.I would actually be ok with the res the way it is if the scaling was a little different.
instead of res scaling from 0-70 (I'm guessing) how about scaling from 20-70. I believe it would make the health loss and the res scaling a little more smooth.
combine the ranges into one power, and move up the toggle AoE. Then add a +HP power. That should vastly improve the survivability of the set.
More HP, a more steady scaling.
They could easily tweak the equation for the scaling resists and need to anyway for tanks since they should have higher resistance values.
As it stands, with all three passives, you'll hit 60% dam-res at faceplant with the scaling starting at <60% health. They could have it begin at 70% health with 1 change. They could set it at 75% so that the scrappers would hit their dam-res cap right as they faceplant.
Will they do this? Maybe, if a strong enough case can be made for it. -
Quote:Yup. Having to have the second account remain on the team but logged off to get around the minimum team size requirement does not magically turn what we do solo into teaming.I consider it soloing unless the other accounts help. Using 7 accounts to let an 8th get into content it then faces all on its own is soloing.
If the 7 other accounts buff, fight, or basically do anything meaningful, I agree that this is not soloing. If they sit at the contact, it is.
Were anyone to claim that using 7 to start content but only 1 to complete it is not soloing (and I am not 100% clear that you are) I would consider that pedantic in the extreme. It may be technically correct, but it's not practically meaningful.
Also yup. I'm thankful to the devs for coming this far with it. Hopefully we'll get the progress rates tweaked more toward acceptable and all will be well. -
Actually I did, and he couldn't counter it because he knows that by utilizing workarounds a person CAN solo things that aren't supposed to be soloed. It's rather sad that he isn't capable of simply admitting that he's wrong.

Must have hurt tucking that tail up so hard.

I was hoping to try one day... I was able to take out a level 54 Marauder, but he is over buffed in that trial. Meaning I find it unlikely that I'd be able to dish out enough damage to take him down in time. However, lucky for me I don't have to thanks to I-22.
