Yes. OpenGL support /sucked/. That support has been fixed. It was fixed almost literal years ago.
What are you smoking? Don't get me wrong... nvidia's got their own issues, but if ATI's opengl support was so magically fixed at some point, why can't we use FSAA with depth of field here with ATI cards when we can with Nvidia cards?

ATI's opengl support sucks just as bad now as it always has and always will.

EDIT: Just to throw this out there, I was an ATI fanboy for a long time. I went from 3DFX to ATI and didn't touch nvidia until I bought a 8800gts-512mb. I agree that nvidia has recently taken a nose dive, but when it boils down to it, I've decided that both companies suck.
  2. I always thought it was fury decay. Pseudo-pet burn is granted the damage buff from your current state, but as soon as you drop it, its fury level immediately begins to decay at the normal rate.

Not sure about that, but it was always my assumption.

That is an exceedingly proscriptive and narrow view of an SG. Are you in charge of writing everyone else's backstory too?
What a silly question. Of course not. But can you tell us how one advances in this game in any other way than by defeating enemies? No?

    Hmm.

In any case, what you quoted is called an example.

It may not have been at CoH go live, but it most certainly is now.

And, yes, I'll continue correcting this point of misinformation every time I see it pop up.

As for the idea proposed by the OP, no thanks.
  5. It depends on how you play on shockwave versus eviscerate.

As Weatherby stated, focus is a must. Nothing better for dropping runners in their tracks. Awesome DPA as well.

If you find that you want tight groups around you, eviscerate might be the better choice.

If you find that occassionaly EA isn't providing all the mitigation you wish it was, you will not find a get out of debt free card better than shockwave. The mitigation (and the damage) it provides is huge. Some teammates might gripe about the knockback.
  6. I will be VERY surprised if any kind of actual engine upgrade occurs. Pleasantly so, but surprised nonetheless.

Probably not large, but the sacrifice is there. Just as I sacrifice mitigation by not taking aidself.

Of course it's better to take everything you can whenever you need help getting to the point of endurance solvency, but, after that, it's pointless to take more because that extra endurance isn't doing anything for you. Take everything you can until you get to the point but, after that, it's best to limit any additional endurance assistance you get specifically because it's not doing anything else. This is why I brought up the similarity to the defense soft cap: you should take as much as you can to get to the point but, after you attain it, it just serves as a generally unneeded buffer.
Yes, I think we're all in agreement on that. If you don't need more to sustain X, you shouldn't bother getting it.

The question was whether getting more would allow for more, and that answer is yes in some cases as per my example earlier. If I could take PP, I probably wouldn't need CP and I'd get more regen out of the deal as well.

In other cases, more recovery might allow for swapping out end-red in attacks for more damage, also an obvious plus.

EDIT: And as for claws, it isn't quite the end efficient set it once was. Especially when cranked up by 167% global recharge on top of whatever's slotted in the attacks themselves.
  9. Or those that find it easy to attain endurance sustainability are doing so at the cost of damage output or mitigation.
  10. Umbral, I am left thinking you ignored my post earlier.

Claws/SR. 100% IOed + Purple sets. Runs out of end with stamina at ED capped enhancement + performance shifter + all accolades + both recovery buffing uniques. This with fully IOed attacks and all the end reduction that comes with those sets.

3 SR toggles, tough, weave, cj.

DA is not alone in its heavy end usage. SR and DA are not alone. EVERY set that doesn't come with extra end management will have this issue.
  11. A,

I'm not sure that you answered ST's inquiry, but hopefully ST will correct me if I'm wrong.

I get the impression that ST is wondering if allowing yourself to dip into low health can be used as a survival mechanism based on the PSDR by itself and not stacked on to 40% dam-res.

I'd be curious about your thoughts on that myself. Especially if we throw in the brute/scrapper comparison while throwing in the higher base HP and thus higher regen.

You dont deserve more for doing less no. However your kinda nailing the point i was trying to make. In that three hours, your chances go up considerably for getting the drops you want. But not just because your soloing, and doing nothing but cranking out enemies. A bubble defender just plainly doesnt have the same killing capacity that your scrapper would. They are much more tied to team play. To running mission etc. This by nature then inherently lowers his chances of getting the same level of drops that you do. And why? Because someone enjoys team play and support characters more then the fighters?

This is what i would like to see changed. Simply put the chances to get the drops IMO are based on keeping the items rare. Im fine with that, but in doing so it seems their rarity has ot be,or has been based around what a tooled up toon can crank out on maximum. I dont mind items being rare. I dont even mind not having something like purples, as has been said if i really wanted them i could probably start farming out the same radio missions over and over, running solo, fighting the wall, running RWZ or whatever. I do choose not to, and i am cognitive of that choice.
Your last sentence is the important one. You are choosing to change nothing about what you do in game yet wishing for the rewards to change to suit you.

It doesn't and shouldn't work that way. Scrappers in general are often overlooked for teams. Teams are generally better off choosing a force multiplier, right? Scrappers can't take down giant monsters while some of the squishie, team oriented ATs can.

Why do I bring this up? Because there are consequences to our choices. If you choose to play a character that can't pull in X amount of rewards in Y time, that is your choice. If you want X in Y, you build something that can do it.

    That's how this game works.

EDIT: As for a drop rate boost while on teams? I wouldn't be against the drop rate being affected exactly as inf/xp rewards are affected as team size goes up. The question becomes can the devs do that without having it ALSO affect lone players when they crank up the virtual team size.

Perhaps they can. Should they? Perhaps.

And I absolutely agree some servers are dying depending what side. Redside on Victory is nearly dead, and refuse to pay to move a toon, it's a f'ing joke... And while I believe Going Rogue might solve that problem when it goes live, in the meantime those that do feel their server is dying/dead are left in in the lurch. Double XP weekend will get players active for awhile, as well the Halloween event for it's duration.

I sympathize, but keep dreaming if you think we'll get anything helpful to make things easier ever again in this game. I think Devs are still pissed at us for destroying the AE.

I hate it when I find myself on the same side of a debate with someone that posts like this.

My current SG and VG have 2 active players. Two. At one time my sg was in the top 10 on Pinnacle. The fact that the other player isn't always online makes the need for offline group invites MORE important so I fail to see why you've ceased caring about it unless your base isn't functional.

As for the rest of that tirade, the devs have done a great deal in assisting players. We used to have a 5 digit cap on trading. Once upon a time we didn't have bases or bins or teleporters or temp travel powers or vet rewards.

Dump the hyperbole. It makes people ignore you.

First, as you saw top and bottom of my suggestion, I tried to note that it was tongue-in-cheek, but still a valid alternate viewpoint.
    ______________________

So you do not like the broke at start part.
OK. Pick some acceptable amount X, for a new superbeing to start out life with.
Each alt can start with that standard amount, just like you start each game of Monopoly with that standard $1500. or just like you start each chess game in the same start position and number of pieces.

And if you are currently playing 5 games of chess simultaneously, you do not just get to grab a bishop from board3 and move it over to board2 just because you are playing both games right now.

And that is the thing. Each alt is really a game unto itself.
Even though they are each in a similar world, and chess games are all on the same 64 squares board, each alt is really a separate game. So each alt earning ones own way is a valid view.

But, as I said in my tongue-in-cheek suggestion,
I am willing to compromise from that view and settle for the system we have now.
    .

No we are not talking about John Q. Newhire. We're talking about a character that has been allowed to join the esteemed ranks of SG-X, a collection of world saving and sickeningly rich superheroes/villains each led by individuals with a net worth of greater than a billion inf.

Individuals whose sole jobs are to run around getting paid to beat the hell out of enemy-y and get paid handsomely to do so.

The only goal of the group is to do the same and doing so efficiently is the only way to do so. In order to assist that efficiency, group leads fund the shaping of lowbies.

Your chess analogy fails badly. I can have character A play with another player's main, log off, log on character B and continue to play with that same player's main. This means that ALL of my characters exist in the same universe. Of course this is also shown by my ability to store enhancements in a bin and grab them later on another character. A game of chess is a closed system.

Each alt is in NO WAY a closed system or game unto itself. The game itself proves that.

Account based storage for inf, recipes, enhancements and every other form of currency used in this game is only one step up from base storage.

Inf IS money in this game. Any statement to the contrary is based on outdated design thoughts. SG/VGs do fund lowbies. Account wide storage is nothing more than a logical boon of convenience to single account holders.

Even from a roleplay standpoint, my main hero and main villain would pool funds because their end goal is the same.

If YOU wish to roleplay reasons why your characters wouldn't help each other out, adding account based storage won't change that.

  20. Understood. I asked because in the last two nights of play, between my two mains, both 50 and running x8 paper/scanner missions, I made around 250-300mil inf in about 6-7 hours of play.
  21. I thought my issues were browser related. So I went back to IE8 from Firefox. It helped some. But I found that the problems kept coming back on and off. CTRL-F5 often cleared things up, but not always. At home, using the same browser/OS, I rarely have any issues. This had lead me to believe that part of the issue is firewall related. Or that my work firewall is exacerbating existing forum issues. In the end... it's a hassle, but now I open new messages in a second tab and copy/paste/quote in a new message back to the person I'm trying to converse with. Unless reply actually works.

This post is another example of how frelled this forum software is. I was unable to utilize the quick reply button in the bottom right. It was nonfunctional. The text in the quick reply box greyed out instead of the normal black. CTRL-F5 did nothing to fix it. So I used New Reply but after submitting the post, I see that all the formating I had in place was trashed.

It'll be nice when/if these nuissance issues get resolved.
