It's already been proven numerically to not be the worst blast set.

Every argument against this idea is based on a nonsensical stance of "people have to see the new stuff, end of story". That's not sound business, nor a reasonable stance to hold on any issue, business or no.

You tie the idea to buying the expansion and all arguments against the idea vanish immediately. There is no reason not to do this.
Way to avoid the most common response: It's a waste of resources.

It's no different than stating that the devs should change the way you get Vanguard costume pieces.

Why? You get them with merits. That's how you get them.

In exactly the same way, you get a brute hero side with the two options given to you to do so.

I don't want to be a villain first...I want to be a hero from the start.

I don't want to be from another dimension called Praetoria...I want to be from earth.

I want to start out as a hero Brute from earth.

The way GR is set up...I would never be able to do that.
Yup, you're SoL and have to make due with the tools you're given. Just like every last one of us when we make any character.

My main has to make due with claws coming out of the back of his hands instead of having talons.

I have to wait several more months before he can have fly without wasting a power pick on air superiority or hover.

I have to waste a power pick on boxing or kick before I can take tough and weave.

You are being given two different paths to have a brute be a hero. Use them.

The problem with your wish is that it goes against the design of the game. Just as my wishes go against the design of the game. We deal with it and move on.

Say you have this great backstory on how your character was a villain that eventually turned hero through Going Rogue...

...what if you envisioned that character to be a Scrapper?...you can't do it...you can't create a villain Scrapper and have them turn into a Hero.
Option 1: You start the character in Praetoria as a scrapper working for the evil monarchy. You decide to leave. You go blueside. Done. Villain becomes hero.

Option 2: Write it up in your biography and start as a scrapper blueside like every other dark hero.

/unsigning the OP as a waste of resources.

Then we ate the minstrels and there was much rejoicing.
  10. Yup. Not hard to get p-lvled to 50 in a day. Mine's level 5!
  11. I'll buy that.

    Then the answer would be:

1 redraw every 5 minutes? Negligible DPS hit.
1 redraw after every attack? A 38% decrease in DPS.
  12. But... you won't have redraw without the click powers. There's no point in studying redraw based DPS performance hits without adding in the cause of the redraw.

    Laser Beam Eyes

Claws/WP is the most pure cruise control for meditation based killing sprees that I've come across.
  14. G92- 8800GTS

The 9800 is nothing but a slightly overclocked version of the same card.

Performance won't be great, but I'll be able to turn all the ultra mode goodies on.
  15. Phase shift, hasten, aid self and max recharge.

Max recharge for perma-dull pain and highest uptime you can manage for unstoppable.

Use aid self liberally. When unstoppable crashes, phase shift to buy time for it to recycle.

    Profit.
  16. Direct answer to the OP, ATI's FSAA looks better than Nvidia's now. I suspect this will remain true with Ultra mode.

Knowing that many of the existing ATI issues are supposedly fixed in I-17 means that for the eye candy enthusiast, ATI will be the way to go.

And just to throw this out there, I have two rigs at my disposal, one with nvidia, one with ATI, that will both support Ultra mode.

This may be shocking, but I understand both sides.

I would never want Vengeful Slice's animation altered in any way.

However, I like the *IDEA* of the claws cast time based damage tweak. Not necessarily its current implementation, though.

I think it should be much more widespread.

Balance a set based on the old rules of recharge to damage to end, then slap any animation you want on the power, then tweak damage (but not end or recharge) based on cast time.

Yea, it'd take some work, and I wouldn't use the current claws tweak equation to do it, but I'd like to see a set like DP tweaked in that way.
  18. For no other reason but I feel like playing the Devil's Advocate:

The redraw will kneecap your DPS in to the dirt.

    Chain: Followup, Slash, Focus, Strike
Time to Arcanacast the chain: 5.2 seconds
    DPS of chain with 10% crits,95% dam-enh, 2X followup: 853.236 damage

    Arcanatime for:
    Reconstruction: .924
    Dull Pain: .924
    IH: 1.32
    MoG: 2.772

Time for claws redraw: .63 sec, .792 if arcanatime is in effect

For each use of Recon or DP, 1.716 seconds of no damage is added to your chain
For each use of IH, 2.112 seconds.
For each use of MoG, 3.564 seconds.

    Examples:

    4 chains of non-stop killing: 3413 damage
4 chains plus DP and Recon: 2936 damage (If you do chain, Recon, chain, chain, DP, chain)
4 chains, but dropping strike twice and replacing with Recon and DP: ~3010 damage

Granted, you probably won't need to fire off reconstuction every 20 seconds. And you won't be firing off MoG, IH and DP every 20 seconds.

But I threw this out to show that there IS a substantial decrease in DPS for claws when paired with a click heavy set. Bad enough for me when Practiced Brawler fires off. I'd go stark raving mad with a click heavy set like Regen.
  19. Considering the extra end cost that would be incurred by having to toggle on sprint to get this requested fly speed buff, I'm all for this.

Both Swift and Quickness buff run and flight speed.
Hurdle buffs jump height and jump speed.

All three are passives. Sprint buffs run speed and jump height and costs considerable end.

I see no downside or balance issues with having it also buff fly speed. It already buffs SuperSpeed and SuperJump, so why not Fly?
  20. $1200 on last batch of parts.
    $100 CoH and CoV boxes
    $40 bonus packs
    $1200 on prior rig build
    $270 on g92-8800gts
    $231 on RAM for IRAM
    $150 for IRAM
    $800 for subscription costs

    $3991 spent
1991 days spent since account creation
    $2 per day spent.

I pay twice that for a latte and it doesn't last nearly as long.

From the parts purchased, my son has a rocking rig of his own, my workstation is powerful enough to run everything I throw at it and my current gaming rig is screamingly powerful.

Worked out well, I guess. Certainly a healthier and vastly cheaper hobby than being a barfly.

    I love my server.
  22. Since I began playing this game some 5+ years ago, I've stayed on one server. It's a low population server.

During that time I've taken breaks and I've always had other games at my disposal for whenever CHV burnout occurs.

Yet, I keep coming back here time and time again.

Here's the real kicker: I solo 95% of the time.

So as a counterpoint to your first reply, I think free server transfers away from the high-pop servers would be an interesting experiment. Or... I would if it hadn't already been done.

We've had a period of free server transfers. We're about to get another one. I bet that more players are migrating from the low-pop to the high-pop for the reason Darthic stated: Most people that play MMOs do so to play with other people.

I'm an oddity. In more ways than one, I'm sure.

So while I think leaving transfers from high to low-pop free would be interesting to watch, we aren't given the info to really watch it, and I don't think it would accomplish anything.

    That might be tolerable.
Gave this some more thought last night. While AAO is available to the tank at level 8, Rage doesn't show up until 28. That's a lotta soloing to deal with rather weak damage and no AoE until 38. So, no, not worth the ride.
