Quote:Then cancel your sub. You're not going to get better answers than you've been given.
Now please, somebody, civilly answer the original question: what happened that caused Going Rogue to be doled out piece by piece? Cause if it really is down making the company's bottom line look better, I'm outta here.
Pre-orders are a good way to get quick cash.
Ultra-mode progress occurred faster than expected so they decided to get it out early. Getting stuff sooner than expected makes most people happy.
GR is an expansion based on a new world to explore with 20 levels of new content and a way for existing players to switch sides.
Incarnate levels were not known to be coming by anyone until the PAX thing to my knowledge.
If the fact that you're getting MORE than you were told you were getting and some of it SOONER than expected bothers you so much, cancel your subscription in revolt. -
Quote:What *should* be is already meaningless.... This. I heavily disagree with. It SHOULD matter whether or not a set feels Tankerish, Scrappish, Brutish, or stalkerish.
And no. All Melee AT's should NOT share all powersets.
Scrappers *shouldn't* have gotten fiery or dark melee.
Brutes *shouldn't* have gotten claws or dual blades.
Tanks *shouldn't* have gotten dual blades.
But they did. The old "rules" are meaningless now. After GR, they'll be even more so meaningless.
All that's left is AT modifiers and inherents.
Want aggro control and higher base mitigation? Go tank.
Want steady high damage at the cost of somewhat lower mitigation? Go scrapper.
Want to be a scrapper solo and a tank that actually deals damage on teams? Go brute.
What reasoning is left for scrappers not to get ice and energy melee? They've already got dark and fire. What are brutes lacking? Broadsword and ice?
Why shouldn't tanks get broadsword? -
Quote:I have to agree with this. Port 'em all. Same goes for the mitigation sets.It no longer matters if sets feel "tankerish" or "scrapperish" or "brutish".
Every one of these ATs have a primary that throws that arguement out the window.
As for claws having too many ranged powers...
...look at the new Kinetic Melee set.
All the melee ATs should share all powersets. -

Quit with the "herding to here" crap that became useless, boring and a waste of time as soon as ED, GDN and aggro caps were introduced. Quote:This is called teamwork, and should be encouraged. So... you're upset because you paid for X which was to be delivered some few months down the road.
Instead, you're getting part of X now, part of X when stated, and a bit of Y at the same time.
And you're griping because the rest of Y, which wasn't even part of what you initially paid for, won't be coming with the rest of X.
You're getting more than you were told you were getting and you're griping about it.
That says much about you. -
Quote:Or, if you'd prefer, I can make the case that any AT in the game is more desirable to have along on any mission in the game than a tank.Rather, logic tends to be inflexible.
Insult me if you feel the need to, but at least bother to include an explanation of how a tanker is supposed to contribute to a team's success here. Tell me how and why it's even desirable to have a tanker on a team running this. Explain how it's not the case that any other character would be helping more.
In other words, what you're requesting is dumb. Fear the sorcerers? Tell your troller to lock him down and not to worry about anything else. Then you can deal with aggro management on the rest of the spawn. Or tell your defender watch you more carefully as you tank and tell that scrapper over there to unload everything he has on the sorc.
Call targets. Plan. Use tactics. Learn to play.
Quit with the "herding to here" crap that became useless, boring and a waste of time as soon as ED, GDN and aggro caps were introduced. -
Quote:Then delete all your tanks. They are NEVER needed. EVER.What this means to me is that there really isn't a purpose for having a tanker on the team if you want to run this content. The tanker is only there as a favor. The team would be better off if the tanker were replaced by another character who brings something that actually helps.

Quote:Vanguard are specifically designed to put the hurt on melee users, as mentioned.Well, apparently I do just plain suck.
But my experience is that if you attempt to take point on a Vanguard mission, the result is usually almost immediately dying, and without even the chance to react. And for the characters I like best, if I'm not taking point I'm just leeching.
I've decided to have one more go at soloing the arc, just to see if anything has changed. But given my current experience, I consider Gaussian's arc unplayable.
(And the Gaussian arc forces you into the wrong decision anyways. Dietrich is right.)
If you're trying to tank for a team of 8 against vanguard and that team doesn't realize what you're facing and act accordingly, then yes, I'd expect you to faceplant regularly.
However, a team expecting you to tank vanguard should damn well be buffing the snot out of you and debuffing them.
Solo? Go to base difficulty and realize that vanguard are to you what everything else in the game is to a squishie. That is by design. Don't expect to run at x8 while solo against them.
That would be like me taking on an aggro cap's worth of autohit Romulus fluffies with my SR scrapper. -
Quote:True. And that's even worse. "We're not going to make the content difficult enough to require a team, but we will throw in some simul-click glowies to cover that fact."Several TFs (Hess, Faarthiim, Cavern Trial off the top of my head) require simultaneous glowie clicks which imposes a minimum team size.
I'm betting that after I-19, we'll get to take the STF and LRSF off of that list. -
Quote:I've never heard of anyone soloing it, so it should probably be added to the list. What about the Abandoned Sewer Trial? Considering the way the temp works combined with a set time limit it would seem like it would be highly unlikely for a non-MM to solo it. Perhaps a Controller or /dark Defender due to the pets and I heard that in the past the pets were stronger.
-
Quote:What the hell are you talking about? Gaussian's arc may be rough with the difficulty cranked up but it's by no means impossible to solo for anyone. Unless you just plain suck. The Gaussian arc has six missions that pit you against Vanguard, so it takes a minimum of eighteen days to get through it. Without it, you cannot proceed to Dark Watcher. I've just treated Serpent Drummer as the end of RWZ.
Quote:I'm not going to spend merits for the temp power. -
The statement "all the curent endgame stuff in the game is team based" is also false. Slapping an arbitrary minimum team size requirement on something means absolutely nothing.
There are FOUR actual team based events in this game that I'm aware of: LRSF, STF, Hamidon and Rikti Ship Raid. Everything else has been soloed by someone. -
Quote:Pets apparently still have a base 75% chance to hit rather than the 50% they should have.I think Arcana also made a point...somewhere about the Auto Turrets playing by different rules. They do seem to be especially pesky.
Which is... horse manure. Stinky, nasty, sticky horse manure. -
Raids, in and of themselves, don't bother me. I don't do Hami raids. Hated the old design, hate the new one. If I need a HO I'll get one on the market.
If I'm bored or in zone and notice one has started, I will hop into a RWZ raid. I've already purchased everything I need to with vanguard merits.
It's only the tying of incarnate levels to said raids that I'll get ticked at. And then, only if there isn't SOME alternative path allowed.
In the case of HOs, I have the market. In the case of vanguard merits, I can do missions or street hunt in RWZ. Alternate paths to the same goal.
Considering how many alternate paths exist now, I have *faith* that the devs won't screw that philosophy up. -
Played my lvl 22 em/inv brute some last night after noticing this thread. At 22 she's got 53% S/L DR. That's nice all by itself in a void. Once I get invincibility and a perf shifter +end proc in her build, I'll start to see her shine.
After cranking up her recharge to get Dull Pain as close to permanent as possible (320 recharge, lasts 120, hell, only need 71% more recharge from SetIOs to do it, that's easy) crank up the regen with the health uniques and some HP buffs, maybe even shoot for the HP cap with perma-DP, on top of all the resistance and defense?
Invul doesn't suck. -
Cloak of Darkness does not appear to suppress.

Quote:"Masters of" badges are not required content. If GW holds the tank and it dies, I bet someone on the team can rez the tank if it doesn't have a wakie.
To the extent that best practice for the tanker includes stocking up on specific large inspirations in preparation for the Lord Recluse fight, and those inspirations aren't made available on the map itself, the task force is essentially telling you that you must farm first for preparation if you expect to run it in the way that your teammates will expect you to run it.
Does "run it in the way that your teammates will expect you to run it" mean that a tank is never supposed to fall in combat? If so, I find the statement silly.
Quote:Most scrappers can't fight Ghost Widow: bringing one just means that one of your DPS characters has to be sidelined on an archvillain fight, which explains the current situation regardless of how good they are elsewhere. Most controllers aren't allowed to use their pets on Ghost Widow, or for that matter on the first three rounds with Romulus. If masterminds are allowed to run hero TFs, they won't be wanted here either. This is already broken, broken, broken, and will become more obviously so come Going Rogue.
As for your fears, I doubt that you're the only one to have them. If CHV goes the way of WoW with the Incarnate system, I'll be incredibly annoyed as well. -
Quote:That's not really an option for me. Part of the game is tweaking my main and namesake to the highest performance levels I can given the limitations of claws and SR.
And I suspect Incarnate levels will still be totally optional, just like the invention system and the mission architect are pretty much optional - if you don't like the system, just keep playing the game the way you always have. In fact I wouldn't be shocked if the rewards from the Incarnate system were really only helpful/needed for the content that you do to gain Incarnate rewards.
The Incarnate system will obviously be used to increase existing power levels. In order for me to continue enjoying my main character, I must have more power.
MORE POWAH!!! MUUUAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHHOHOHHAHAHAHAHO -
Green Dwarf has threatened that he may come back tonight. This has been a public service announcement.
I say good. Now I have a way to get invited to my own damn groups without paying for another account. -
Hi. I'll be one of those folks really ticked off if forced team content is the only way to advance the incarnate levels.

Natural Origin gets extra damage with both the staff and wand. Therefore, all Natural origin characters are superior to all other origins.
My DP/Dark is natural. Her guns are possessed by demons but without her natural marksmanship, they wouldn't ever hit their targets.
In other words, origins are meaningless. Pick what ya like and roll with it. It doesn't matter at all. Call your magic powered robot a mutant if you like.
