  1. Well that is some great information guys. The wiki paints all this in such a negative light with its enhancement diversifacation and the like. It just reads rather numerically, and then when you think of the huge effort involved for a couple of per cent.
  2. Im not sour on it, just, skeptical really. Given that its obviously a tremendous amount of effort to do the incarnate stuff naturally.

The numbers, don't really do it much justice, I mean, you can get that 2% out of an IO set quite easily rather than go through all this.
  3. Im reading the Paragon wiki now and, I have to say the more I read the more I think, "oh "

This incarnate stuff is supposed to put you on par with the likes of Statesman, and other signature heroes (or villains). Yet you read it, and you go through goodness knows how many task forces, and trials or whatever to get your incarnate alpha unlocked and beef up, and all you get out of it is a poxy couple of per cent of a boost?

Makes me wonder what's the point in doing all that when Enhancement Diversifacation is just going to cripple you back down anyway.
  4. LOL.

So much for my 50%+ energy resistance pipe dream.
  5. What about if you are using IO's? Does that still count then?
  6. With the cardiac you get a damage resistance of 20% as your secondary with it. My tank is fast approaching 50 and I was wondering which of the alpha slots to go with. I noticed that 20% boost resistance boost and though it pretty sweet.

Does that 20% boost apply to each of your individual resistance powers or is it an overall thing?

For instance my tank is an invul / ss. At present his energy / negative resistance is about 32%. 16% coming from resist energies and 16% from unyielding. Would the boost resist energies would be worth 36% and the same for unyielding... or would it be a case of, your damage resistance to energy overall is 32% so plus 20% from cardiac, means your energy resistance is now 52%
  7. Im using Thermal Radiation as my secondary with the Demon Summoning.

Good synergy, quite useful, and it fits the character.
  8. For once, I actually used my brain and thought about end reductions in the 4th slot a moment or two ago. But not this morning. I couldn't sleep so I got up and started to tinker in Mids with it.

I was just thinking about Whirling Mace, maybe it'd be more useful if instead of slotting for damage it slotted for disorient instead. One thing I note about Whirling mace is that when you whack people with it, it tends more often than not to leave them completely dingy, which is handy when you need a second.

I'll have another go tomorrow morning and see what I can recreate. Its hard to get right as it needs slotting with a view to get sets, takes a bit of thought.
  9. 4 slots in the armour sets so that I can put set IO's in em, when I got the moolah to pay for it all. I struggle to change out single origins as is.

I may skip hover alltogether but as I wanted fly as my travel power, it offered me defence so thought what the hey, could give it a shot.

I didn't take lightning field as I didn't want to draw attention to myself. Ive never used this character as a main tank, unless I am taking on Energy based bad guys. Which means most of the time, I just play back up. But lightning field can be used as an endurance sucker can't it? So that's an option.

I guess I took energy mastery as an automatic thing really. Needed it on my Invul / SS so figured it would help here, but not really applicable on an elec tank. As for whirling mace, tried it on the original build, and its 6 slotted now, don't really like it as an attack.

Doesn't seem to have that same BOOM!! to it that other WM attacks have.
  10. I thought that Grounded worked, provided you are on or near the floor? If that is the case then if you hover right low to the ground, you get the defence out of hover plus your grounded protection.
  11. hey guys, I want to respect my Elec / WM tank and have had a crack at it in Mids, here is here figures and such. As before, I've allowed room in the powers for the sets to milk out more defence. As Elec has no defensive powers. Ive got Hover, the Leadership defence skill, and weave.

    Taunt Question

My ss tank is a good shield now, Ive respec'd to the advice Ive been given, did it again recently, still accounted for Set IO's for the future in the slotting when I have enough funds to pay for them all... but even just running SO's I can see big benefits

He runs perma rage now which means +80% dmg to all attacks! I mean, it was doing a good whack of pain without rage. When I go after the big guy its a straight war of attrition one that I don't often lose. And my big blue man can deal up a face full of smackdown that would do a scrapper proud. Thanks to perma rage.

I mean tanks arent' all about the damage for sure, quite often I just literally spend more time taunting and footstomping than actually punching. Especially on a team mostly of the other damage specific AT's, they will kill anything provided they are not the focus of attention. When on a team, I don't try to kill stuff, just distract it. But I will always throw a few hands at the boss or whatever the highest enemy rank is.

    Taunt Question

Having recently re-specd my main tank again, I can honestly say getting right up and personal in the big guys' face WILL get the lieutenants and minions interested in you anyway.

    Gauntlet is a great thing!

I'm new to the game, only been playing 6 months so... but, from my experience in the tanking seat, the more you whale on the higher ranked foe, the more likely the mobs ranked below him will turn on you. Chuck a taunt or two at them and they soon forget about the blasters and scrappers.

AoE's are a good way to get aggro too, everytime you hit a foe, you taunt him and all foes around him to attack you. So you can imagine what an AoE would do with that.
  14. BigBoss Eyepatch

    Purple Set IO's

I thought all IO' in a set had to go into the same power to get the bonunses.
  15. BigBoss Eyepatch

    Purple Set IO's

Just a quick query guys. Hypothetically...

If say you have a Defender (Empathy / Energy), and you want to slot out the power bolt and power blast with a purple io set Apocalypse... how many times can you use the Apocalypse set?
  16. As Im a poor boy, I am running SO's till I get plenty of money to get the IO sets sorted out.

Basically, how should hell on earth in the demon summoning set be slotted out? Cos I have this power and I really have no idea what to do with it for the best.
  17. I guess you can't please everybody. I work lates all the time. 2pm till 10pm, which means I go home tonight, its pushing 10.30pm, then I gotta boot up the PC. Download a patch... that takes seconds being on 30 meg... but the real time consumption is then watching 3.6 gig patch itself.

So then by the time Im getting comfy, a lot of peeps to group with, are signing off. *sigh*

    I need a better job.
  18. BigBoss Eyepatch

    Spines are ugly!

Perhaps that's the point, you aren't supposed to make a good looking spines character.

Lets face it, there ain't much good looking about a character the lacerates and poisons you. ha ha.

The best sets for Invul--RA for resistance, LotG or GotA for defense--are just fine with 4 slots. Note that I underslotted RPD--that's because once Tough, TI and UY are fully slotted, you'll be over the S/L resistance cap and don't need to fully slot it. It's better to 4-slot the other powers because they have higher base values and need end reduction, which RPD does not. The numbers of slots will shift a bit with IOs--you can often fully slot attacks with just five slots for instance, and you may want to slot a set in Taunt--but this is what I'd do for a IO build.

Cool, Thanks for sharing that. I'll put it in Mids as soon as I get home. I must say perfecting my tank is quite fun in itself, tweaking etc... At the moment, he mops the floor with most mobs that he encounters, thanks to perma rage!

Was doing tip missions the other day, level was at +0, but the number of mobs was at +2. I didn't need unstoppable once! Was absolutely thrilling.

Also the bruising effect of jab and the 20% damage resistance debuffing helps loads too combined with perma rage.
  20. Well I made the adjustments outlined above, and of course I accounted for IO sets when slotting. Currently said tank is at 43 and well... he plays like an entirely different character.

Currently I'm on an SO build, but now Im ploughing through the bad guys like the proverbial hot knife through butter! I absolutely clobbered the circusy people... forget their names... I almost felt sorry for them they literally did not stand a chance. Perma rage is just the business! Its unbelievable. I'm killing lieutenants in like, 3 punches now. Where before It would have took probably more than 10. LOL

I did about 5 tip missions today and a morality mish, I only had to use unstoppable once, and the main reason for that was because in one of the tips there were two illusionists who summoned about 8 phantasms combined. So with all that energy pummeling me I had to trigger it. So I did, then I faceplanted the whole group. Ran onto the next lot, faceplanted them in seconds a'la perma-rage. Then managed another group before I stopped as I knew I had only about 20 to 30 seconds of unstoppable left.

All in all, he is playing like a whole new guy and vastly better.

I have an elec/war mace tank to respec too. May have to ask your opinions on that too guys, but all the guidance you gave, well, it certainly led me to a better character, and I'm sure, in the future he'll get better as I kit him out with set IO's.
  21. I think a lot of things for sale in the market are very expensive. I think though the benefits of having the market far outweigh the negatives though in fairness.

You can get everything in there, which is handy to the new player, but when you have not got the money or a convenient cash cow to rob, it gets hard sometimes, I guess the key thing is patience, bid and then leave. Lots of people though function on the "I want it yesterday" mentality.

Recipes naturally would be expensive, everybody wants to improve their character right? I want to use recipes but I just don't have the moolah to do it... yet. What with the salvage costs, and the crafting cost itself.

There are a multitude of ways though to cut out the market and them that are just trying to get rich quick. The things that you want can be obtained by other means, the market just makes it easier to get that last one thing you need.

I think it'd be much more fun to get the things for you character without using the AH.

But I agree. I for one list at least 1/4 below the going rate. I do need cash as I am a new player. But yeah, I try not to charge ridiculous prices on the things I don't want.
  22. War Mace is fun.

Clobber is just stupid damage! Also you got a 5% inherent accuracy bonus to your attacks. That's handy.

The downside to war mace is, its endurance heavy, but... hang on... you're using electric armour, that means, power sink. Get that bad boy popping quick enough and you're laughing!

I find whirling mace a bit naff as an AOE. its a bit... "oh, is that it." It doesn't knock em down, or nothing, hits em all, but its a bit lame.

Crowd control, limited to cone, but, its funny watching you use the mace like a baseball bat to swing for a home run.
