  1. Me and my SG are planning on doing the 24-33 range respecification trial on Saturday and would appreciate any players on Union (preferable tanks as we lack those atm) to join in. In case anyone's unfamiliar with this, it's three missions. The first being kill 25 Circle of Thorns members. The second being kill two Elite Bosses and one boss in a dungeon filled with Wyvern, Legacy and Longbow. And the third being...I just love this bit...KILL A GIANT TREE.

Yep, so there's four of us at the moment. A Corruptor, a Stalker, a Dominator and a Mastermind (though he may end up playing a Brute if he can get his Brute up to 24 by Saturday). We had a stab at the Trial last night and failed against the Tree, so we pretty much know the mission by the now.

Anyway, so it will probably be taking place at 5/6PM Saturday, meet at dock in Nerva Archipelago. Send me a tell at @y1n1m1 if you're interested...or it could be @BeyondReach I'm not really certain :P Either way, I'm almost always on Beyond Reach if I'm on. Oh and obviously post here if you're interested as well.

    The Dawn Patrol

Poster above me makes a very good point. I would say go for it, but for obvious reasons, make it so only characters that are British (obviously don't necessarily have to be players) can only join the Dawn Patrol. Even if it is Paragon, the Dawn Patrol is formed entirely of british.
  3. I'm in an SG with a couple of guys from RL who are light RPers (don't think they'll want to join in though), I'll probably have no issue setting up a room for a meeting if necessary. Though if someone else wants to do it I'm cool, as I'm not a big fan of the architecture in our base :P I don't think it's very villainous.

    Badge Kills

    [ QUOTE ]
yes to your first question, everyone gets a +1 to the count

and no it doesnt because someone might have a PvE build and a PvP build, and want to respec one, also if you get IO sets, you lose then if you go into a dual build, but if you respec you get to replace them/keep

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah! I misread the article on power respecification. I understood that you lost all your enhancements when you respecified. Well this is certainly enlightening. Thanks for your help everyone.

Wait, one more thing. It says that you can restribute your enhancements...how? What if you have more enhancements than enhancement slots?
  5. BeyondReach

    Badge Kills

So it doesn't matter who kills them? Everyone would get a +1 to their badge kill count if anyone on the team kills a Y?

I have another question. I've just reached Level 24 on my main and I'm thinking of doing a respecification. I talked to a friend that says there's no need to do a respecification becuase you can get a second build that allows you to re-choose your enhancement slots and powers (just like a respecification) and that you can just auto-level it, contrary to this article: http://cityofheroes.wikia.com/wiki/Multiple_Builds

Now, I'm confused. Surely a Dual Build just makes respecifying absolutely obsolete. Which doesn't make sense. But, I can't see how my friend would be mistaken about something so obvious. Anyway, yep I'm confused and would appreciate any help you could give me.

    Badge Kills

When trying to get a badge that's say 'Kill X of Y' and you're on a team fighting a Y is that the person who gets the last hit who gets the kill count, or is it shared between the team or is it something to do with proportional damage?
  7. [ QUOTE ]

Hmmm in answer to 1) The group wouldn't be a traditional group in the same sense as LoRDs was, there wouldn't be a power struggle because it's just a collection of like minds wanting to spread chaos and anarchy, probably swap some tech specs, make sure the dates don't clash...that sort of thing. Every villain involved is free to do as they please while the organisation provides backup for any plans. Like when Ed hired Soren and Wild Red to bust him out of jail, it was a paid job and they did it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The rest of it sounded like a good idea, this bit, is where I question the integrity of this plan :P Not every villain is an anarchic chaos-worshiper. My villain for example absolutely detests chaos, and pretty much worships order, because he has a fragile mind and chaos causes him to lose control of this fragile mind. Which is why one of his main objectives - other than kill the Lost and other psychics - is to seal all of this universe from all other dimensions which currently causes such a large amount of chaos that Beyond Reach simply can't stand it.

    Creating a Hero

Well I created my hero character I think either the day I made this thread or day the after, pretty much basing his creation on what you just said. I went with a Empathy/Psychic Blast Defender, and I've pretty much got his background down. It's nothing really epic though :P
  9. At the moment I'm having a little problem with the internet because the plug to my router got broken, so I'm using internet directly from the modem atm, but unfortunately the demand for internet from the single modem is large.I've already ordered a new plug directly from the router manafacturer (after two others I bought from electronics stores refused to work). Latest I expect it to come is Saturday (I hope). Until then I can't expect to be able to come to any meeting for any good length of time.

However, if and when I do get the router up again, any time past 16:00 BST should be good for me, excluding 21:00-22 BST on Thursdays, 22:00-23 BST on Tuesdays and from 14:00 onwards on Sundays.
  10. Yesterday when I was designing a 'Battle' objective, I noticed that you are given the option to specify the combatants as either 'Both Groups are Enemy', 'Group One is Ally' or 'Group Two is Ally'. Now, I haven't been able to test my theory yet, but would the enemies conflict with Rogues on the map? If that is so, I think there should definitely be the option to change it so one group is a Rogue. Wait, in fact, do separate rogue spawns fight with each other because it describes them as 'fighting everything on the map'? Because if you are trying to demonstrate a conflict between two groups in a mission, you don't want different parts of the Rogue group to be fighting with each other. Though, there should be an option for some obscure possibility that it is needed, to have separate rogue teams, so some rogues do conflict with each other.

Oh, and I'd like to be able to place Bosses in Ambushes.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
I've been getting lots of really good questions so far and the answer is best given by example. Imagine twenty leaders, villains gathered around a huge table, most of them representing a larger organisation. What are they talking about? I don't know, but they're probably planning how to 'improve' the whole world as they see fit, most likely through brute force, hostility and chaos, probably because it's the quickest method with visible results. That would be forum or supergroup base RP. In-game wise, we're looking at major zonal PvP like old times, task forces and lots of MA arcs with custom villains. Plot wise, the more members the better. Like the very funny TV show Pinky and the Brain, one day the NWA are on the streets 'eradicating' psychics. Heroes foil the plan so the next day, they're back 'exterminating' magic. They may try something else the next week, like an army of uber-trolls or the traditional doomsday weapon launch straight down to the subtle extreme like a hostile political takeover. Hope that gives you a good picture of whats possible.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think I understand...kind of. Well no, I really don't. I've grasped the concept so far, the idea of villains up to no go, a monkey could do that. What I'm lost on exactly what this would entail in-game.

You mention major zonal PvP, do you mean a bunch of PvPers getting in one place and killing each other a lot. Because that doesn't really sound fun.

Taskforces...those are the series of missions you can't leave right? (I r teh newb)

MA with custom villains, aren't we the villains the players though? Why would be fighting other villains. Obviously there are uncountable reasons WHY a villain would be fighting another villain, after all there are more "evil" enemy groups in the Rogue Isles than there are "good", but surely if we're nefariously plotting and stuff, wouldn't heroes be trying to stop us?

If I could just select the level range of Longbow, Family and Private security guards as 5-14, I'd remove them in a heartbeat.

    [/ QUOTE ]

With the changes in i15 you will be able to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I sincerely apologise for major thread-jacking here, I just had to make something clear.

So, are you saying that Issue 15 you will be able to reduce, or even expand the level range of certain enemies in your MA missions? I saw nothing about this is the Issue overview O.o. this will get me dancing up and down and taking backflip lessons just so I can do a backflip if this is true, I just don't want to get my hopes up first. Also, just to make sure sure I don't get horribly disappointed, I'd appreciate a link to where you found this information please

In regards to the OP, you will hopefully be seeing my arc in the near future once I have overcome the issue of discovering Dr. Vazilok and his minions and slapping myself on the forehead going "Ah, so someone thought of this idea before me..."
  13. Could someone possibly explain to a roleplayer new to the Union server what exactly this would entail? I've been looking to get my Villain involved in some RPing, but I've been seeing no indication over in the Rogue Isles.

Depending on the situation I'm not quite sure he'd help you out, but you never know, if you give him something he likes to do he just might do it.

Dominating characteristics (*chuckles stupidly* he he he, he's a Dominator) include wishing to manipulate people just because he enjoys it, and the desire to kill all people with psychic powers (excluding himself). And no before you ask he's not read your mind psychic, that would make his manipulation no fun, he's more make your brain go "BOOM!" psychic. He also has Gravity Control over Mind Control, which despite me heavily regarding it as a mistake, I'm slowly making my peace without it. (Not to say that if we were given the option to re-choose our powersets I wouldn't jump on it)
  14. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Ok, so you have clicked on one of the numerous blue panels, found the mission you want to play and clicked 'play' (or in the case of testing your own mission you have found your own mission in "My Local Stories" opened the tab and clicked 'test'). After that you have turned to the contact hologram only to find it has stayed exactly the same as the weird green thing. Just want to make clear exactly what you're doing to get a better idea of what's wrong.

If the above is correct, one of two things could be possibly wrong. 1) The arc actually uses the green contact hologram for some crazy reason (doesn't explain your arc though) or 2) The universal explanation of 'bug'. I suggest you make a bug report/petition a GM for help.
  15. Too many times in my daily journey of attempting to do a really long MA arc I die a lot until I come across a mission that my usual WWII tactic just won't work on. And I want to leave it and go do some other missions until some friends come online and I can get a team together.

Not to mention the amount of times when I'm in the middle of soloing an arc when some friends invite me do a Mayhem or a bunch of missions with them. In fact, the first time they did this I left the arc I was in thinking 'Hey, I'll come back later and finish it' only for it to disappear.

At the moment MA is in a kind of taskforce mode where if you leave the mission you lose all your progress that took oh so many hundreds of deaths to get through :P I think there should be the option to not put it in "taskforce mode" and to be able to leave that mission and go do something else for a little while.

If people really want their series of arcs to be in "desperation", you have to do this right this minute mode I'm not going to take that option away from them. I just want the option for missions for me to leave for a minute and go doing something else, and then come back and do the mission I was up to. Like normal contacts. Perhaps even the option to save your progress in one mission and bring up another contact in MA. Gives the awesome possibility of having two, or even three arcs that work together, that mission 2 in arc 1 won't make sense until you've done mission 1 in arcs 2 and 3.

Anyway, yep, this is my idea. I think I've had a couple more ideas over the way about MA as I've been playing/creating but I think I've forgotten most of them.

Oh! One more thing, is there a possibility to be able to actually place where you want things in the map editor, or at least the option to make the "Back, Middle, Front" more focused. Specify EXACTLY what you mean by Back by highlighting an area on the map, what you mean by middle and what you mean by front. Or even the possibility of having more options than Back, Middle and Front, Areas 1-5 for example. I'd imagine it would follow the same principle but then again I know next to nothing about programming.

    Creating a Hero

Yeah I don't understand that about psychic powers. Is it because of the holds and stuff, because all dominator powersets have at least some type of hold. I just like the idea of having psychic powers :P

O.o. intriguing, why so? BST is...B??? standard time?

Thanks for the ideas so far by the way.

    Creating a Hero

I hope this is the right place to put this.

Anyway, right. I currently have a single L19 (Gravity Control/Psionic Assault) Dominator on Union, and as I am a heavy roleplayer I came up with a backstory and everything for him and stuff, I found it pretty easy after I fell in love with the Dominator archetype (though I heavily regret not giving him Mind Control instead of Gravity Control).

I also have a L8 Mastermind, but I'd prefer not to mention him so I don't get unfocused :P Level 50 seems like a challenge for someone who likes to move at a leisurely place dying a lot. I'm not sure exactly how many times as this game doesn't seem to keep a record, but I think I've easily beaten my record of 100 for all the years I was playing Asheron's Call on my main.

Stop babbling. Yep, so when looking into making a hero (as I'm currently stuck halfway through an MA taskforce and am waiting for some friends to come online and give me a hand) I found that none of the classes really leapt out at me. After some time looking at builds, I came up with one of these three.

    Scrapper
    Primary: Martial Arts
    Secondary: Super Reflexes
Pros: Super Reflexes, by far one of the coolest powersets I have ever seen.
Cons: Martial Arts, my favourite out of the Scrapper's primary, but I don't like the actual powers.

    Controller
    Primary: Mind Control
    Secondary: Empathy
Pros: Yay, I finally get to use Mind Control!
Cons: However, I would just be playing the same kind of character I already am as a villain. That doesn't seem very appealing.

    Defender
    Primary: Empathy
    Secondary: Psychic Blast
Pros: Different class but still similar to what I like, Psychic Mastery as an ancillary power pool (why aren't Villain power pools as various?)
Cons: Psychic Blast...having virtually the exact same powerset I have on my Dominator seems even worse than playing virtually the same class.

Yep, so I'm torn. I was hoping you guys in the roleplaying section could help me out by massing your creative minds and coming up with some hero personas for my characters. At the moment that seems what I'm lacking, and seems like the perfect thing to bring me to a decision.
