  1. Not bad not bad.

    Will have to compare them a bit more. I was however adviced on the tanker forum to be carefull with obliteration set. Since they have very little end reduction. on other side they are in attacks that indeed are used only once each 30 sec so a bit less important to tone their endcost down?
  2. They also provide 0.94 melee defense, but youre indeed right i dont need them anymore. Will see how i will make use of those slots then.

    Cause of the above suggestions i made some changes. I have a bit more end reg. I use a bit less end. I have a little more hp and i can use build up alot more. So all in all a very good remark. Reworked build below.

    I wont be getting the LotG yet i would just get cheap io till i can afford them.

  4. I recently returned to the game, i have a somewhat io'd firetank and tried to rework him but that did not went to well. I got some very nice suggestions however.

    Taking does into account i also reworked my scrapper who come from the ages before inherent stamina.

    I came up with the following build.

    My question are:
    Is it generally an ok build
    Will i run into end problems?
    I dont know all the prices yet. Is this an affordable build? Meaning hunderds of millions not billions
    Do you have suggestions?


    I build mostly for aoe. I have capped defense in melee range and aoe.
    The intend is to slot most powers that have luck of the gamblers out of the build and just usual crafted io or frankenslotting and replace them as i can afford them.

  5. Hoi again,

    I certainly like the last build. Seems to be very doable. Ok i does not have capped defense but one purple is ok. I like it i may try this.

    I also would like to ask if you uber builder want to go watch my scrapper build elec/sd i made it after my fire tank build and after i read the suggestions in this thread.
    I still has some orange set of which i dont know if they are expensive but most of it looks ok.

    It however does not have much recharge and i may still run into end problems. For some reason i suck at getting good endbonuses.

  6. Now that is a major helpfull reply.

    I am afraid i certainly dont have building. I jsut went from the stuff i have on my current build and then started playing in mids. SO that extra 3% is out. Had also no idea that those kinetic combat io where expensive so may have to change that.

    Anyway youre input is very much appreciated.

    To be honest i was already afraid of the oblit sets.

    Maybe i should just stick to my current somewhat decent build that still had to pick stamina the old way. It has about 40% melee defense on top of 70% resist for smash and lethal and over 90 ofcourse for fire. It does mis out on fireball since i went for earth mastery to keep mobs in burn.

    I recently returned to coh. I come from the time where stamina was no inherent and burn still had fear in it so i was a fire/fire/earth tank.

    I dont have huge amounts of influence so not sure i can afford this but this is the build i may try to go for. I got most of the stuff already and got about 400-600 mill influence maximum to spend.

    I am open for any suggestions.

    I went for mostly a balanced build. It has decent resist. Decent defense for melee and lethal and smashing, below average aoe and ranged defense i guess.

  9. Hm tricky guess i will have to think it over a bit.
    Gettin frostbreath and ice storm is not possible cause i need to take ice blast or hibernate.
    Then frostbreath or armor and then icestorm. Since i can only take three i have to go for ice blast, breath and amor or ice blast, armor, ice storm.
    So far i starting to lean more to the earth idea, just that i have to be on the ground, meaning toggling of hover is bad. Unless i could just flow in low and use it. But even that would be a pain i guess.

    Going cj and sj or ss for that matter would be a bit against what i had in mind, but even if i did it wouldnt my ranged def be a bit less usefull then?

    So basically i go for earth which would not be ideal have 44.5 ranged def 30+ smash, lethal, energy and negative def combined with 23.5% lethal/smash resist.
    OR
    Fire 45 ranged def, 10 smash and lethal def, 30+ energy and neg combined with 65% lethal/smash resist. And an easier to use aoe.

    My guess is that fire is the better option afterall. although i like testing the earth idea.

  10. My character is sort of a forest dweller like creature, so being fast and being able to fly is kinda part of it. also going the cj instead of hower then my ranged defense wouldnt be as valuable since they have to use range when i am up in the air.
    I did check out ice but that does not seem to fit to well and fissure is already abit worse then fireball, frostbreath doesnt really appeal to me. Ice storm is great have it on several character but its a very long recharge.

    Guess i will have to stick with fire or try to get ice to work for me.
  11. Hm came up with something ok. More acc in FS 44.5 ranged def and 30+ smash/lethal/energy/negative.

    However for that in need to take fissure, i hope this can be exucted from in the air while i am hovering.(and how does this compare to fireball) And then i have to add hurl bolder, but i dont like the knockback. although from above it will more or less be knockdown i guess. Or i have to take seismic smash which is melee, that last one does seem to do very nice damage and a mag 4 hold on top of it. So maybe it can be worth it to kill all from above then zoom in and hit boss with this. anyway this would be the setup then.

  12. I went with fire for two reason.
    One the goodness of fireball that adds alot to my aoe damage. And the possibltiy to slot fire blast as a single target attacks which i lack a bit in plant.

    However you make valid points, also not very familiar with the other epics. So will look into throwing some stuff around. Certainly try to do something with fs and check out the other epic. I will, if i find a better build, post again in this threat.

  13. i made up a plant/kin build first with lots of recharge and permahast. that would however be to expensive to me so i came up with anohter goal.

    I made this build to be affordable, at least i think. I have hover and capped ranged def.

  14. Wow looks very expensive

    I also have an elec/shield. And cause i like it so much i made a decent build, which took me some time for the first time.

    On the above build i would certainly change true grit take two slot out. Take hasten at 49(would drop one with the shield), put the two slot in hasten, put recharge io in there and voila permahaste(bar one sec)

    Anyway i dont have so much cash so i made up this build without purples, still expensive but hope to achieve it one day.
    The bad:
    -I have less recharge(wel actually more but with the changes i suggest you would have alot more).
    -I have no slots left to slot up fire blast which is a shame, would simply be a tool to pull if needed
    -I have slighty less endurance recovery

    The good:
    -capped all my defense(ok i know i am lying i am short 0.1 on aoe)
    -I have like 100% more regeneration of hp.
    -Slighty more hitpoints and slighty higher percentage of damage increase.
    -Still expensive but no purples at all

    Feel free to educate me on how to make this even better, without the use of purples. This will be my first fully io char.

    _Edited to say i made this build up by changing an changing and changing so the timing on powers and slots is not ideal and needs some work i guess. For instance no travel power till 49 is a bit hard. although this is a build i will respec into, i will certainly take my travelpower sooner.
  15. Figured out the difference in damage, powerbuild up. Should have seen that sooner. Anyway good idea to use that instead of conserve power?
  16. I also tried to make a trap/ar build not sure i will go for it, not sure i will like the damage.

    What i dont understand is why that my attacks are doing so much less damage then the build two post above. For the first attack i can understand it ,cause i underslotted it a bit, but for the others i dont see the reason accept for 1.5% more damage buff, i even have assault running and he doesnt. So please enlighten me. He seems to do about 1/3 damage more then what i do. My attacks recharge a bit faster but still.

    Cure my alti?sm

    Lets start by saying that i played many games and i usually play something like a hybrid healer(daoc friar, wow druid, ddo battlebard, war disciple of khaine, ...). In this game however i seem to almost like it all. So far i have:

    fire/fire/earth tanker 50 only io char, although rather cheap. first time ever i liked a tank, still love it but not much of a support char.

    plant/kin/fire troller 50 truely love the looks of plant powers, love my costume on this one love how it plays, hate how people expect me to play

    Storm/ice/dark def 50 nice visual, costume and background not so ok, does alot of damage for a defender and i love the triple rains. Is usefull to group to

    WS 43 love it, how it can change roles, mostly powerleveled in ae which was not a smart idea

    dark/rad 41 def this was my first char. I loved the idea, love my costume and background, love how dark plays, but very unimpressed with damage of rad. I love that it has several aoe but they lack damage.(even more so that a fully slotted ice storm easy outdoes all that i have)

    elec/shield/? 35 scrapper this char i like alot, but more for the visual and as some sort of toon i wanne keep to have fun with but not really my main i think. Dont get me wrong i love it but still.

    So there you go, i also have several lower level alts ill/rad trol, trap/ar def amongst many others. So far for a quest to find what should be my main has not succeded. Dark/ice def seems like something that could be very nice to, but cant seem to find a good angle to make this char.

    Therefor my quest continues and i call upon you all to help me.

    What to do, what should be my main.
    usually my intrest are:
    -versatility
    -usefull
    -aoe damage(does not have the been the top of all damage, but to low i dont like either)
    -can take a beating
    More or less in that order. But preferably the char should have a bit of all. For instance a very usefull char but without some damage would not be my kind of thing.

  18. Nice fast and wel thought out comments.

    I believe that quicksand with one slow io is almost as cap, wel not really but i got them at 70% slow which is rather nice for one power which takes only the standard slot, recharges fast enough so that i have it always available and last longer then its own recharge.

    About the stamina you are probably right. But cant test that now, i used my respec so i have health sitting with three heal IO and looking to fill in the others later.

    I did not go to the cimeroroan wall yet. been up against defense debuffer in ae, that went better then it used to, but still can be a pain. Nothing a purple cant take care of. Also still have my heal and my resist to help me out a bit.

    Btw, you are right about the no defense set allowed in quicksand.

    I am very much aware that this is not a highend build. But from simple crafted io to this is a huge difference already. Maybe later i will upgrade to a real highend build.
  19. Since i was eager to test it out i respecced into it already.

    So far i am pretty happy. I know obliteration is low on end reduction. but my blazing aura is 0.52 a sec or something and burn is 5 end per use. Since i use combustion and firesword everytime they are up , i am far better with multistrike(which is rather good on end reduction in those)
    To be honest i use way less end then with my previous build.

    I had to choose a bit so build up and health and stamina are indeed a bit suboptimal. Haste i got three slotted now(one extra with the slot i took from rotp cause i went for taunt in the end). However many post i read show that its better to have 2*50 end mod and the endproc possiblity then to have 3*50end mod which goes way beyond the cap limit. More or less the same for health. So far i have not slotted my health fully cause i am not sure yet i want to use my money on those three uniques.(i have one of the three other two i have to buy)

    So far i have 41% melee defense. Which is rather nice now that i used it a bit.
    My damage from burn combined with quicksand more then makes up for the fireball i used to have. To me it seems like it does more damage, cost less endurance and even lowers the damage i take cause they try to run away. When i get low on end each time so far my consume was ready to boost it up again. So no problems for now there.
    The build has some drawbacks however. It does not have alot of recharge. When haste is up i dont notice that really i got attacks all i want. When haste is down its not ideal, but certainly more then playable for me.

    I made this build up as i was playing and started slotting at around levle 40. I think i spend about 60-80 mill on it so far. that is with still one peice of obliteration missing and two of the health uniques.

    Any suggestion are still welcome. I really like this char, more then i expected and me really looking to make it even better and enjoying it even more. Suggestions with fire for epic are welcome to but for now i seem to like earth. Makes me feel a bit different and its rather usefull.

    I just want some opinions on my build. I have almost all the stuff that is in there except for two of the uniques in health which i can afford but awaiting youre comments first. Its mostly not very expensive apart from the health slotting.

    I am also not sure as what to pick with my last power taunt or rise of the phoenix. I seldom die but i think rise looks cool and i like the idea to. Although i obviously dont like dieing

  24. Hm corruptor sounds really interesting but i dont have cov. Maybe i should look into buying it. Did not think about other controller since it seems to me they lack some nuking powers but i could be mistaking. Will look into that gravity rad thing you suggested.
    Sound like a rad dark corruptor if that should exist would be really my cup of tea.

  25. I think the first replier misunderstood me. i am not looking to be uber. I just like char that can do a bit of everything, although it will probably be all a bit less effective then other more focused at. Anyway i believe liking the graphics is indeed a strong point in favor for the rad/rad defender. The pet from dark is also a great plus.(always liked pets). Maybe my ultimate combo should be dark/rad but not sure if that works

    Anyway thanks for the replies, will think it over. Have lots of exams to correct and after that its holiday for me so guess i decide by then.
