We should have as many slots per server as we have levels ^_^.

[/ QUOTE ]
I like that idea, at least if they add another 12 we can mid for people with the amount of toon slots we have, and we could slot lvl 50 enhancements!

Oh and yeah, we need more slots per server because making a toon on a server that isn't your home server just isn't the same for a lot of people.
2. Hello, my name is Bad Wonka, and I am a recovering Altoholic. I have all 36 slots on my home server Champion filled with toons 14+. I also have filled up Virtue with 13 toons and Infinity with 12. Not much of an altoholic when it comes to moving to other servers, I like to just stick with one or 2 at max.

Anyways with that said I was wondering if anyone has high hopes like I do for maximum toons slots per server to be increased to 48 with Going Rogue. And possibly them giving away 4 with Going Rogue. Kind of like what they did if you only had one of the games and bought the other before the merger.

I think another 12 slots for Champion would be just what I'm looking for. Definitely not going to buy toon slots on other server, but definitely would but Going Rogue and the other 8 if they happened to do this.

So, what are your thoughts on an increase from 36 to 48? Yes? No? Maybe? So?
3. Seriously should I get rid of it? I hate that song just as much as the next guy, but that is a pretty nice link to give to unsuspecting victims.

Edit: Ehh I changed it anyways, I'd get a bit mad too...

Veering away again from this thread...I HATE CO and think is the most boring, excruciating game that was quite obviously dumped for another project prior to even making it halfway through alpha...I say to CO: See y'all when you get done boring yourself to death and come on back for some much less hum-drum fun =]

QFT. I have to add that the character creation is nice and has some interesting features and every cool name that is taken in City is currently available in CO. HOWEVER, the graphics are ... not very good. They look a lot like my "graphics minimum" on the high-powered machine I used. And some of the attack chain quirks, are not so nice either. Unless it gets lots better, there is no interest here in a switch, even a temp one.

[/ QUOTE ]

You're right about everything there...

Except the character creation, it is confusing and impossible to use, may help that the graphics match that of pong. CO is full of fail, seems liked they've taken what the players here at CoX would like to see and put it into a game with a 20 dollar budget.

[/ QUOTE ]

I disliked the character creation too, glad someone else agrees on that note...and for sure, it's like take everything you didn't like about WoW, mix it with what you had wanted to see in CoX and then dump it out there cause Star Trek might make more money...

[/ QUOTE ]

You took the words out of my mouth.

[/ QUOTE ]

I tried out CO after getting my invite.

The problems, in order of finding them:

Character looks all blurry in the creator tool...
Only one face possible. No way to change the mouth shape, eye size/shape, nose, nothing. All you can do is overlay the face with wrinkles...?
Blocky character. No body sliders that have any real impact.
Picked my powersets...was told something weird about the powers I got. Didn't really know what the game was talking about.
Entered the game. No voice acting. Everything looked sepia and drab. Unless you turn off bloom, things look weird and foggy.
Realised the only way to make the game look kinda nice was to turn on outlines and all the other cartoon stuff. This turned the game into a sort of Marvel Ultimate Alliance, but with far more complex and opaque controls. Still couldn't fathom the levelling system.
The GUI seemed to be lifted directly from Age of Conan...
Your character spends most of the time being tiny on screen, cos the only way to see your enviroment properly is to zoom waaay out.
Played though some missions...I think? I got some tasks from NPCs but had no idea how they linked together or what my overall aim was.

I gave up after a couple of goes. My character looked ugly and the power animations were just lame.

[/ QUOTE ]
That was pretty much my experience but I gave it benefit of the doubt and gave it about 3 hrs before I finally gave up and still try out the play dates now and then. Nothing has changed.

The topic is Doll is saying bye.

Sorry to hear that Doll, you're a great player and it has been fun teaming with you now and then. I can see why you're upset about it, seem like the only AT that you can trust from being nerfed any more are the Controllers, which sucks because that just means they are over due.

I hope you stay to see if they fix up what they have on test, hopefully that recharge and end drain goes away.

[ QUOTE ]

The kid who sits next to you in school is named Tim. For some reason, he's been in every one of your classes your entire life. Also, for some bizarre reason, every teacher really likes Tim just because his name is Tim. You work hard in school and pull a 3.5 GPA. Tim does nothing but show up to class and gets a 4.0 GPA. Tim gets more invites to honor societies, special awards, and gets more money in scholarships than you do.

Now, did Tim actually affect your GPA? Nope.
Was it unfair that Tim got treated differently? Yup.

Now, if it only took 2 hours to have a new kid, name him Tim, get him through high school, and get the opportunity for all those awards, would parents start doing it? Of course. So, at that point, should the administration address the situation? It's not actually affecting the performance of any other students, but is it something that should be fixed?

Currently, on Test, is a fix that only gives Tim a slight curve on all his grades instead of a massive advantage. What would you think if parents balked at such an idea? If they felt their child deserved to be given a free ride that's unfair to all other students just because it had been that way in the past? What if they threatened to take their little Tims to another school district?

[/ QUOTE ]

I suspect Tim was doing "favors" for the teachers, which if he did, well good for him, some might see it as a fair trade, but if he did what I think he did, I think Tim got ripped off...

Right now I'm helping a friend get her SG up and I think I got 700k prestige in the past week and now have the biggest numbers with 2nd place only being 100k. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure it is all the bragging rights, my goal is 1 mill then I'm going to try for 5 mill.
11. Never said that he did, I understood what he was saying.
12. I think this is something that every player would want but the dev would be against because they'd rather you spend money buying more on the new server.

I could agree to let all purchased and veteran slots be transferred to another server that has room for them.

But couldn't see anything like the first 12 slots being transferred at all because that just have people dragging slots from other servers when they need them.

Recognized Badge

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
I think the reason why the author badges were removed besides the obvious vote cartels is they were unobtainable for a ton of people. Some people can make really fun and interesting arcs while others are limited to their mediocre skills in creativity.

If the devs were just concerned about vote cartels, then they could have just reset the AE arcs that are the worst offenders, then make it so that a person needs to play through the whole thing before they can vote on it.

[/ QUOTE ]

So you're saying there shouldnt be awards for creative writers?

right. lemme call up a few book organizations. and tell the oscars to stop existing. Its not fair that johnny the homeless movie writer doesnt have as many awards as a top director or writer, after all.

[/ QUOTE ]

Uhmmm....this is a game.

[/ QUOTE ]

And? There are badges for PVP and for PVE achievements. Why not for in-game creative efforts? All of these are farmable, and all of these lend to a "he's great" or "he'll never get it without farming" judgment.

[/ QUOTE ]

PvP badges were put in when the Tyrant was in charge, Posi has taken his position now. They have the power to change the PvP badges, but it might make some of the people who worked their butts off getting them mad. Plus they do have better thing to attend to, AE badges needed a fix because they "promoted farming".

PvE badges are obtainable by everyone, everyone can die, thanks to pool powers everyone can heal, everyone can take damage, everyone can be held, everyone can gain influence, everyone can do the achievements without spending hours on end trying to make a mission that people want to play.
15. [ QUOTE ]

False to an extreme. I'm not asking that anything be handed to me. I still have to gather prestige, pay for my base, craft the stuff I can't buy and so on and so forth. What I'm asking for is that things not be TAKEN AWAY from me. Think really long and really hard and give me ONE other example in the ENTIRE game where anything, anything at all, requires upkeep or it is taken away from you. I'm interested to hear about it. Because this game has a very, very strong tradition of never bringing a player back, not even by a little, and at best only slowing them down. I can die 50 times in a row and I will never lose a single point of experience. Any experience I gain after that will STILL move me forward. Rent simply does not work that way.

[/ QUOTE ]

Didn't have to think long or hard at all to come up with two.

Toon names - You quit and it's been 90 days, any toon below 6 has the risk of losing their name. Now this sounds week because level 6 is easy to get too, but so does your complaint about having to pay a maximum of 3,600 prestige and how if you don't your base will go away/power down. 3,600 is chump prestige.

Badges - I earned over 100 of the AE badges when i14 came out. Now my badges that I earned honestly are being taken from me in i15.

Also I just woke up, want me to come up with another example in 15 seconds, just tell me.

[ QUOTE ]
And yes, I'm well aware what my subscription pays for. I'm also aware that I'm not going to waste my time with an activity that is not just a constant drain on my prestige, but a hit on my Inf gains, as well. I'm not going to bother, and I don't. They peddled them as the next step after the costume creator, but they are so, so much worse than that that it's not even worth bothering with. I can travel just fine without base teleporters and it doesn't cost me a dime.

[/ QUOTE ]
Apparently you're all alone in this, others suggest and support things with a rent system.

[ QUOTE ]
It's funny to me how every time I mention that something isn't worth the cost and that working shouldn't be part of a GAME, people immediately accuse me of being spoiled and selfish.

[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe if you explained yourself, but you still fail to show me your point, if you want god mode go play Sims and use cheats.

[ QUOTE ]
And all that while STILL slyly avoiding addressing the fact that there is no good reason why there has to be rent in the first place. There simply isn't one, but there is rent regardless, so there it is. Circular logic then takes over and it's here and it's not so bad so that's the reason for its existence. So, in essence, we have rent because we have rent. Not good enough.

[/ QUOTE ] Well um you know this is a MMORPG right? RPG stands for Roleplaying Game. From a roleplaying stand point it make a lot of sense, like much other things in this game do when you understand the story behind it.

Code:[/color]

You're a hero, but thing aren't going to come to you free just because you save lives
(look at firefighters they don't get stuff just handed to them, they get appreciation)
You have to pay the city or Freedom Phalanx rent for space
because handing you over building space would make them go broke.

Same can apply for villains, just with a bit more evil in there.
16. [ QUOTE ]
Why not just craft them and put them in the enhancment storage bin?

[/ QUOTE ]

One of my points, money isn't hard to come by. Just craft it. Followed up by storing it or selling it, if you don't have the money then make some.
17. [ QUOTE ]
... which, if your base has the power shut off, is rather *unhelpful,* wouldn't you agree? That is, in fact, the very situation that prompted me to post the idea in the first place.

Imagine that.

As for the rest of your post? Completely irrelevant. I don't pay rent on my costume or have it go away. None of the other things you mention have a similar impact on the game - the trainers are in nearly every zone in the game.

Perhaps you should think through your "counterpoints" a bit more.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm saying if you think waiting until 2 weeks AFTER the rent was due saves you so much prestige than there is where your base powers down. You fail to see that the price of saving that oh so small amount of prestige is your base powering down making it unable to use to teleport to Port Oaks, Atlas or Galaxy.

Maybe if you tried paying on time sometime then you would notice the base being up when you went to pay it.

[ QUOTE ]

Here's the thing - I'm already paying a subscription that allows me access to the servers in the first place. Why am I paying an in-game subscription for an in-game thing? I thought games were supposed to be fun, and I'd be very surprised if someone told me they ENJOYED paying upkeep. I've heard from a lot of people who DON'T MIND, but not minding is not a reason for having it. At best, it's a reason for not bothering to remove it.

What I can't get through my head is who thought that this was a good idea in the first place and what was he thinking?

[/ QUOTE ]
You paying the subscription only gives you access to the servers, no where does it say you won't need to work to get things you want in-game. The point of this game is to progress, not to pay someone to have god mode in a virtual world, the game would have failed if that was what it were about.

Basically you're wanting something in-game because you pay your sub, if everyone did get something for paying the sub what would the game be? City of OMG-I-Just-Got-Everything-I-Was-Grinding-For-Now-I'm-Bored-I-Quit?
18. Is that even possible? That was the funnest player made, hmm actually it was the funnest event period I've been too.

You can't do such a thing. Sure they have Architect Entertainment buildings in most the zones but you can't claim them anywhere.

[/ QUOTE ]

actually, yes you can.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually, why don't you explain?
20. [ QUOTE ]

I don't appreciate upkeep in ANY form, and I've never, EVER seen a good reason as to why we needed it in the first place.

[/ QUOTE ]

It is kind of like a subscription, you subscribe you enjoy the features of what you're subscribing to, you unsubscribe you loose all benefits until you feel like paying the subscription again.

Your costume is like this game boxset. You buy it, you keep it, though without subscribing to the game it is useless. Basically you buy your costume you have it forever, but if you're not going to fight crime, why have a costume?

Also works with the Xbox in some ways, you buy a game, it is fun, but it isn't as much fun as when you subscribe to xbox live.

Hope that helps.

[ QUOTE ]
<qr>

My first thought when ma came out and I got he click here to claim tickets for your arc popped up was, we have this tech and its not used for base rent already. I know its not flowing in the same direction but seriously if I can click to claim that anywhere why can't I just click the rent is due message to pay the rent anywhere as well.

[/ QUOTE ]

You can't do such a thing. Sure they have Architect Entertainment buildings in most the zones but you can't claim them anywhere. Sure put a City Hall, Freedom Phalanx or Arachnos tower in every zone, that make sense to you? Hope so because I don't get it...
21. [ QUOTE ]
You say that like your base disappears when you don't pay your upkeep. It doesn't, the power just gets shut off.

[/ QUOTE ]
Well it does actually, it is, if I recall correctly, 8 weeks until your base is unable to be entered, 2 weeks after power shuts off.

[ QUOTE ]

Also, if you decide to stop fighting enemies or running missions, why do you need the base to be active in the first place? So you can get to the nothing you're doing faster?

I really don't see what the big deal about base upkeep is, especially now that they've reduced it. My SG's upkeep before was 20,000 prestige a month. That was a bit of a drain. Now it's 500. We have over 9 million prestige banked. If we stopped doing any content at all and never earned another point of prestige we have enough banked to power our base until the game shuts down. All this is without even trying and just playing the game normally.

I gotta admit, I cannot grasp why you are so dead set against base upkeep that you refuse to even have a base.

[/ QUOTE ]

Same for me, except my Supergroup is just a solo alt SG and it has 14 mill stored. (36 to its name) Not sure why anyone complains about rent any more, or that travel to Atlas, Galaxy or Port Oaks. I mean, you do get a message saying you rent is due in two weeks, you do get a message saying you rent is due now, and you do get a message saying your rent was due.

If you're claiming you want to wait the full 6 weeks to get the most out of the prestige, that is your own fault, rent costs a max of what? 3600? What a joke, you should have to travel back to Port Oaks or Atlas if you think that is much of a save. I'll pay my rent everytime the message comes up, my power never goes out and I always have a base to go travel to Atlas to pay the rent.

[ QUOTE ]
What does upkeep do again? Whats its purpose?

My 30$ monthly fee is my rent.

If I must pay this bothersome upkeep it needs to be for something meaningful. something that rewards.

all my prestige is sunk into decorations yet to come.

I'm still in debt.

[/ QUOTE ]
One word: Recruit

Just because you pay your sub doesn't mean everything in-game should come to you.

I pay my sub, I want purples, doesn't mean I'm going to get them for paying to access the servers, otherwise this game wouldn't be a game, it would be a more than stupid trade off of real money to get virtual money.

If you don't think it rewards than try going without paying the rent, your base will end up going away, then pay it when it does and, wow, you're being rewarded for paying your rent by being granted a base.
22. Well to the OP suggestion I think it is sort of silly seeing that Atlas Park/Galaxy City and Port Oaks are so easy to get to.

Peregrine Island is connected to the War Zone, War Zone is connected to the Atlas, Atlas is connected to the Ouro, and Ouro is connected to the Cap au Diable, and Cap au Diable is connected to the Port Oaks, and Port Oaks is connected to the Mercy.

Well travel is too easy with bases, all the many hubs (RWZ, Midnighter's club, Ouro, Green/Yeller line Ferries), how easy it is to get a travel even pre-14.

When this happens I'd hope that either a tailor, wentworths/black market, university, trainer, Kalinda/Matthew Burke and the city rep all get teleporters or that they get something for the base so I don't have to travel as much because it is a pain to have to zone... and... move... y'know?

(Why don't they just take zoning and traveling away? Have enemies come to be to be killed while I'm in my base that is full of eveything I need, including a hami to raid solo, in fact if this doesn't happen I'll be heart broken, they should move hami to portal corp so I can kill him between runs.)
23. I'm not saying I'm very worried about Supergroups hoarding recipes, inf is all over that the villains market is a joke now. I'm just saying that is what comes up everytime this is suggested. And I believe it is something the devs consider otherwise it would have been wise to put in with i9, if not base storage than at least personal storage.

It looks to me like if the enhancement bins hadn't been there before i9 that they wouldn't have been put in because of the Issue.

And the rednames (Lighthouse I believe) were even stating that Wentworths and Black Market aren't for storing stuff. I do believe the 30 day limit on how long an item can be stored there is in order. I have a few toons where salvage and recipes keep disappearing from WW.

And storing things in your base for other toons and players isn't evil. But the crafting cost of recipes does make a difference, right now it is either spend the money on crafting cost and any salvage you need, have the recipe take up space on your toon, or have it take up space at Wentworths or the Black Market with a risk of losing it if you forget about it.
24. Bwua?

Oh I thought you said "Horrible Mentions" lol
66.6, I think that complements the evil essence that costume has.

Gratz to everyone and thanks a lot Pingu for the fun, really enjoyed the evening.
