No no one wants to rehash yet another farming in the MA thread. It's already been done dozens of times.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hey, we have to farm our post counts SOMEHOW.
[/ QUOTE ]
I need your secret then because I'm obviously behind the curve.
Also, I wasn't asking about farming. I was asking whether the reduction in XP in MA would have an adverse effect on its use.
[/ QUOTE ]
Since the MA buildings are 98-99% empty in every zone on every server I've visited except for Atlas on Freedom, I'd say its already going down. [I admit to not having visited Virtue, since I never visit there but merely sneer each time I scroll past it in the server-list.] This may be in part because of the ticket nerf; we may never know.
And you know, I really don't miss MA that much. I discover I LIKE salvage and recipes more than I thought I did, and buying exactly what I need instead of rolling and rolling and rolling and rolling some more. I think my poor /dark Scrapper went through at least 18,000 tickets before he got his -KB recipe.... mileage no doubt varies, but I'm really not missing that Broadcast spam-fest of unkillable bosses. Whoda thunk it....? -

Coming from you, I cannot say that this is much of a recommendation.

Coming from you, that insult is meaningless.

....Aaaaand I think its impossible for you to insult me, since I hold your opinion to be of less worth than that of the average soft-shelled mollusc's... or DJ Zero's, take your pick.
Before you shout "NO, U!" please note that I really don't care either way. Now get out there on the dance floor and burn it up! You can bring your ladylove Rach there with you, if you like.

Now that the technology is in place, Issue 15 is our first opportunity to provide a number of more universally themed costume change emotes as part of a regular content update for all of our players. It's our goal that everyone, even those who didn't purchase the Magic Super Booster Pack, will benefit from the extra time and resources that we've devoted to creating these booster packs.
[/ QUOTE ]
And..............the final stake through the heart of B_I's paranoid fantasies about booster packs stealing all the good stuff from everybody else.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, you can compare Vines and Ulterior to, y'know, the content of the Valkyrie and Magic packs for starters, and see which one[s] have vastly superior content.
Because me, I view Magic as "good stuff" and tights patterns as "nice, okay stuff... but not stuff that knocks my socks off." Never said that we're never, ever getting any more costume pieces for free.
What i did say was that we'd most likely be paying for all the "knock your socks off" stuff; I see nothing here which makes me want to amend that. Nor do costume change EMOTES stand in for free costume content to me. If your mileage varies, have at it.
[/ QUOTE ]
The thing is, "Knocking your socks off" is entirely subjective. I know a few people who wern't happy with the past two booster packs, while I loved the cyborg pack.
[/ QUOTE ]
Pssst.... yeah, and notice: we paid for all of those pieces, at least those of us who bought all the packs paid for them.
Never said, "All pieces included in new costume sets will be loved by and regarded as cool, by all!" what I did say was, "if its really really cool and you want to wear it... smart money says you're probably going to be purchasing it." Not the same thing. -

This argument played out over another thread, as you well know.
I'm referencing comments and ideas from said thread and not limiting myself to one specific post in this particular thread.

So, go over to that other thread and start digging for my infamous post where I was discussing non-costume stuff..... which you are not gonna do, because no such post exists and you know it.
[ QUOTE ]
You are of course free to pretend the past never happened and has no influence on how people perceive you & your arguments.

.... Beats trying to hit someone with a stick off of a tree which was never grown in the first place, if you'll pardon a rather ponderous metaphor. I have to say, that's kind of lowering my perception of you. -

Wow. I just saw the new faces for the first time.
I15: The Ugly Stick Cometh.
I don't want to crunch the new artist, because I'm sure as she becomes more familiar with the tools, she'll get better, but yikes.
The screens in that dev diary really made her work look bad.
[/ QUOTE ]
.... And 7/10ths of what is in the Face lists NOW isn't "hit with the ugly stick"?! Bwahahahaha; there's some ugly ugly stuff in there.
Most of the new stuff looks downright great in comparison to me. -

Nice to see your shifting definition of "the good stuff" continues to evolve, now numbering all new animations among the things that don't count.
*thumbs up*
One would think free stuff being added as a direct result of booster packs, stuff that wouldn't exist without the income generated by the packs, would loosen the rusty hinges on the decrepit gate of your argument, but I've clearly underestimated your powers of adaptation.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, you are changing my argument. My original supposition was that we would pay for most, if not all, of the best, most interesting new COSTUME stuff; I've never once speculated about stuff such as emotes, which ranks very low on the totem-pole of stuff I really care a lot about.
If you know otherwise, you can produce the quote where I was talking about anything other than COSTUME PIECES. Nor have I ever said nothing would ever again be added to the game unless we paid extra for it. Proof or it never happened.
If new costume changing emotes crank your tractor, then you will be one happy camper, and good for you. But really.... I expect more from you, 'goat. This kind of attempt to shift your opponent's argument into something it never was to suit your own purposes is something I'd expect to see out of some light of the forums [snicker] such as "Darktyger," I gave you more credit than that. -

Custom Critters are always nasty, and people tend to have no concept of just what it is they are putting their players through.
[/ QUOTE ]
Was on a redside MA mission last night with a simply horrible boss at the end, and the rest full of END-draining lesser nuisances till you got there.
We complete after a lot of trouble, and as we're standing there next to the teleport beam afterwards the leader is going "this is my friend's arc! Please rate it well and send him comments about exactly WHY you did or did not like this! Its really important and essential that you do this!"
Teammate 1: "That sucked."
me: "You know, it really did. Not fond of end-drain."
leader: "Well tell him that and maybe he will consider changing it! He'll think it over... maybe..."
I'm not going to write an essay on an MA arc begging the owner to do anything whatever to it. What I WILL do is 1. decline to rate it, and be grateful for my forebearance and 2. I'll vote with my feet.
People have this idea that the more horrible a boss is, the more fun it is and more importantly, the more gluteus maximus they kick as an author. Well, if one wants good ratings might wanna give that idea a rethink.
Or not. And I can keep rating things a zero, its all good. Probably a bunch of others doing exactly the same thing -
[ QUOTE ]
That's also my problem with "people can't make legs" - to the best of my observation, it doesn't look like people even tried to match top to bottom or, in many cases, even tried to make a bottom that wasn't horrible.
[/ QUOTE ]
^^^^ I think that goes back to the concept that its not that your character has to have a matchy-matchy top half & bottom half; but for best results there DOES have to be a flow between the two halves, and someone's post suggestion leaving the belt off for a bit and seeing how the costume looks then, is a good point.
Not many of my people wear belts these days anyways, i find that they disrupt the flow of the costume. No belt usually = much sleeker, more streamlined outcome. At least, imo. -

But when I see a heavily-armoured torso with a metal helmet that ends up in tattered pants and bare legs... I burn with hatred.
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL because I feel the same way. I think a problem is that a lot of people have no taste and they have no artistic sense of rightness when going through the CC.
What makes me burn with hatred is women wearing Angelic or a bikini, top & bottom, with either spike heels or bare feet.... and they have a Crab Spider backpack hanging off their back. There is not a single case where this does not look effing ridiculous, yet one sees it literally around every corner. I think another problem is that some enjoy doing stuff they're not supposed to do, like mixing bikinis and CS backpacks; they do it BECAUSE it looks stupid.
Mission accomplished! -

A couple of things I'd like to see.
Wooden and Bamboo swords...
Samuria Pants (Hakama)
High collars (options on this could be Mandarin collars for an oriental flavor, but also be used to give the player a preistly look)
Long Braids for both males and females would help a lot too.
Oriental dragon chest options and oriental dragon patterns for outfits, especially the martial arts outfits...
Just a few Chinese words Like Love, Freedom, Strenght, etc. as either chest emblems or patterns.
Japanese Raising Sun Patterns
[/ QUOTE ]
I am all for this, and I'd like to include a geisha-wig type hairstyle, we need that like, YESTERDAY, and some Japanese scripts as chest emblems as well.
However the last time we had this suggested, some doofus who shall remain nameless came in and said: "NO WAI! If they're going to make Asian symbols then I DEMAND Arabic symbols too! In fact the devs should prove they're not Islamophobes and make the Arabic stuff FIRST!"
Respondant 1: "....But we have a literal ton of Asian people running around in the game now. This is a popular character subset; shouldn't we use the dev's time in a manner benefitting the largest # of people?"
respondant 2: "WHat about Hebrew characters?!! My toon is a seraphim and I want Hebrew letters to put on his chest!"
respondant 3: "Stop catering to these Asians!"
respondant 4: "I"m all for more Asian-type stuff, bring it. Can we have those pants the Tsoo wear, too?
respondant 5: "LOL @ Arabic and Hebrew stuff, you guys get a life."
respondant 2: "RACISTS!!!! I HAVE REPORTED YOU, YOU RACISTS!!! ITS LIKE HIMMLER ROSE FROM THE DEAD, HEARING YOU RACISTS TALK!!!!11!!!! *PETITION!!!*"
.... and on it went, with many absolutely refusing to admit that our largest racial[?] subset in the game is indeed Asian characters, and this would be the wisest use of the dev's time. Especially in a game with a Martial Arts power set, I mean c'mon this should be a no-brainer.
In fact I would ADORE to see a Japanese/Chinese/other Asian costume pack full of all sorts of goodies so themed. DOOOOO EEEEEEEET -

So rough for you to continue to play a game, in which you just know the devs are on a COMPLETELY different page than you are, while they continue to work diligently to improve the game for the silly 2% who you clearly hold in such contempt. That's got to be frustrating to you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not so much, because I know there are those disagreeing with me simply because its me talking. They're saying "I'm in the 2% here for the story!" but honey, you take away their rewards and watch the outrage begin.
I am all for the devs continuing to improve the game. Cool. Got nothing against it. But expect to find epic story-writing, especially in the MA....? Er.... not so much. In fact 99.9% of what I see in MA makes the dev's writing look like Shakespeare by comparison. You don't go into MA and find stuff like Seer Marino, pretty much. If you're lucky you might find something cute and funny.
But probably not, most likely you are gonna find the Boomtown outdoor map with 500,000 Freaks on it. And I accept that reality with the knowledge that those Freaks are about to give me a lot of xp and I can have fun talking to friends as we clear the map. Yes, I'm not a 2%er.
What I am is a realist. -
^^^ Word! *high-fives JK*
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good mission. But a lot of the good missions, such as some of the Patron Arc missions, I have to run trying to forget what my contact just told me, because its totally contrary to what my character would actually DO in the situation.
So am I in CoX for the writing....? Not so much. I'm there to have fun playing dressup and yeah, kicking a little tail along the way. -

Now the real question I have here is this: Is Creativity more important to you with this system than overall rewards such as exp and tickets?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, creativity is not more important. I am in the game to level, or gain other rewards, be they direct or indirect. I will put up with missions of mind-numbing boringness to level up, especially between 45-50.
My guesstimate is that about 98% of current playerbase feels exactly the same way. Just a guess, mind you. If it has a good story, or a good map, great. But I can overlook the lack of that for great xp.

MA has been behind many controllers gaining levels since for farming mishes its always nice to have trollers on hand. I have seen a huge increase in trollers since MA has been released.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, three new controllers are out there due to MA, over here at least; there is no way I would go through the Endurance-hell of trying to level them up solo through those early levels.
They're pretty awesome. But over here, one 'troller enters the MA at level 2 or so, and one 'troller leaves after a while, at least level 14. At that point I have travel, I have A FEW slots and I have tickets to put DOs in the slots. OK, now I can actually do something.
....'cause you know, I'd rather face the wheel for real, than level such end-hogs solo. Awesome end-hogs true, but I am not that keen on delayed gratification. And even at 14, I got a long ways to go before godhood

Agreed. It boggles my mind that so many players don't get this, but it's shockingly common.

In fact I think it is the norm. The boggle-moment is when you see someone NOT running to meet the pulled NPC.
Kind explainations don't help, either. -

Day 3: still level 12 atm. Did get on a team today but the leader insisted on trying to run Castanella's first mission on Rugged[?] - the setting under Invincible, at any rate - and I zoned in, took a look at an Oranbega hallway packed with CoT, including two red-title Spectrals and politely bowed out. I know a debt-farm when I see one.
I have not picked up either Repel or Siphon Speed yet. I doubt I will pick up Repel due to its situational use; if I do it will be in the very late game. But probably not; it seems like a thing it would be really easy to annoy teammates with. My builds are usually too tight for this kind of extra.
I quite simply do not have anywhere near the endurance it would take to run Speed at the moment; hell, I don't have the end to run what I have as it is. This power will wait until later. Meanwhile I am setting up the Fitness triad. This will not solve my problems, but at this point any help is welcome.
I notice that 1-DO-ACC-slotted Transfusion simply *does not* hit orange-title NPCs. It seems to have at least a 50% miss-rate with yellow-titles. For as much End as it costs to run it, this is an infuriatingly high miss-rate and I admit to being extremely displeased about it. Eventually it will have three ACCs - just as soon as I have everything three END-slotted. At level 12 this seems extremely far away.
Due to end-costs I find this alt to not be very solo-able. I'm going to have to be teamed. I'm not giving up, but as things stand now I have taken math exams that were more fun to run that this alt. I'm hanging in there, however. I sense the potential for tremendous power, and I always enjoy that.
Not big on delayed gratification, tho. lol -
[ QUOTE ]
My general opinion of the ITF is it's a fast pace joy to run with an end encounter that kind of ruins the expereince with an OP, bloated AV that relies on cheating and gimmickry to be "challenging" (in other words, needing a specific team make up).
On the Reichsman hero TF:
I found it an unremarkable, short and repetative experience to run that's made worse by an OP, bloated AV that relies on cheating and gimmickry to be "challenging".

2 out of the four missions in it you're fighting in 5th base/cave maps, and we all know how much people love to hate those.

Note to devs: more AoE heals for AVs, please. Ghost Widow, Rommy and every other dark themed AV need a rappid fire self heal to bolster their already stupid regen.

I agree! Devs, make it so.....! *eyes fork again*
[ QUOTE ]
The last mission is, again, a 5th Column base with a throne room for Reichsman. You end up fighting him and several other AVs. Twice the team I was on failed to beat him because he's either bugged, OP or a little of both.

Day 2, evening: the Fire/kin is level 12.
I can unequivocably state the following: I have played many ATs and many sets. I'm experienced as a player. Been around.
I AM IN ENDURANCE-ISSUES HELL!!
I have never, and I do mean never, ever seen anything with endurance issues like this, and this includes all AoE-sportin' Brutes and Scrappers I've owned.
I can't believe so many people think End. issues don't need adjusting. This is beyond stupid, its beyond inconvenient, its beyond any dream of logical balance. I can see that the next eight levels are gonna be honey bunches o'fun. [sigh] After a while I was like "**** this" and I went and ran a TF with friends on a level 50.
And people wonder why others want to PL past these levels! Its like a dentist visit with no Novocaine.
To be continued...
