Farming isn't done by fire/kins, farming is done by various level 8 characters who skipped all their toggles.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Its funny because its true.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
B_I just drop it. if you are o n teams that aren't using their powers the way they should be then maybe you should be looking for other teams. maybe you should also think about taking some of the pool powers for travel that offer this type of protection. you don't need all of your primary or secondary powers nor the concealment pool or the medicine pool or whatever pools you are taking that is making your build so tight. use mid's and plan your build out if you don't already.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I find this post laugh-out-loud funny! I haven't seen this many assumptions pulled out of thin air since the last time Claws here posted.... Never said ONE BIT of this stuff. Never said anything specific about my builds other than that I do not ever choose Super Jump, and that I do pick up Fitness. You really know NOTHING about how I build.

And considering that Acrobatics is an extremely END-heavy power, I'd need Stamina more than ever, right? Let me guess: "If Acro takes a lot of END then you need to lrn2ply."

Next I am certain I will hear orders to slow my attack rate in order not to strain my endurance-needs; that's usually the next arrow out of this argumentive quiver. *eyeroll*

When I feel a need to ask you for build advice, I'll PM you. Till then, get over yourself.

So I guess this means you DON'T want me to try and convince the team to buff Sappers at the next meet and greet I go to then?

Yes, I was seriously going to bring that up(and still intend to).

    [/ QUOTE ]

    *shrug* Not my problem.

Scrappers get a pathetic selection of status effects available to them. In the scrapper primaries there is ONE immobilize, and ONE fear. That's all. Spines and Dark Melee are the only scrapper primaries that have ANY kind of status effect at all. And both are imperfect. Scrappers APPs are equally pathetic in regards to status effects, they get ONE immobilize, a slow patch that makes enemies run, and ONE hold, which is generally regarded as the worst hold in the game. That doesn't give scrappers too many ways of proactively preventing a status effect attack now, does it? A scrapper will NEVER apply a status effect other than fear to a boss.

[/ QUOTE ]Actually, my MA scrapper stuns bosses all the time. Because MA has *three* stuns.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Good point. Cobra Strike FTW!

    [ QUOTE ]
other person: What you are essentially asking for is for some ATs to have the ability to make entire spawns helpless with their status effects while being immune to them in return.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you could confine your remarks to stuff i actually SAID, this conversation might actually go somewheres... As far as this blather about Combat Jumping and Acrobatics, most of my builds are tighter than latex fetish-wear. I don't have ROOM to be picking up CJ so that I can get to Acrobatics, especially when Jump is not my travel power. And it never is.

If Fitness were not a problem perhaps I could, but I am already picking up extraneous stuff to get powers I desperately need. I'm supposed to pick up two travel pools just so I can meet your criterion...? right.

    [ QUOTE ]
If an enemy is held it is NOT holding you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I see. So you never 1. have a hold or other control power miss and 2. never deal with NPCs extremely resistant to same and 3. are never on teams fighting HUGE groups of NPCs featuring multiple mezzers. You rock so hard that frankly, you are simply made of win! Congrats!

    /endsarcasm
  5. Why on earth do I need to study a bunch of sermonizing which does nothing but restate the obvious? You proffer this stuff like its some devastating comeback to the idea that we have two states of status protection in the game:

    *God-mode

    *NONE WHATSOEVER.

You don't like it that some people think there ought to be some mitigation between the two extremes. That's nice and all, but I don't agree.

You don't agree with my not agreeing. Game/set/match.
  6. Truly, TLR the sermon.

    [ QUOTE ]
So in short, sure squishies can have status protection. On one condition: remove their ability to mez and debuff -OR- give scrappers and tanks EQUAL ability to mez and debuff.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not advocating the removal of mez protection from melee'ers. I'm saying that "ZOMG HOW DARE YOU WANT ONE IOTA OF STATUS PROTECTION, YOU SQUISHY!" is every bit as hyperbolic, short-sighted and frankly... mean.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Out of curiosity, and strictly to form a point of reference, which enemy group or groups in this game would you consider to be a challenge without being overpowered?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Whatever I said would be pounced upon and torn apart still screaming, not necessarily by you but by others; I would not touch that question with a ten-foot pole. No offense, but not going there.

I can tell you that Malta used to be one of 'em. Not anymore.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
I don't think anyone is presenting this, unless it's you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, you were the one who in essence posted that you thought anyone who thought Malta are stupidly overpowered wanted "enemies who only use Brawl," not me. No one actually posted that.

    [ QUOTE ]
Your position seems to be that the Malta are impossibly overpowered and you can't handle them in gameplay.

    [/ QUOTE ]

LOL, whut...? I never said "I cannot handle them! ZOMG!"

I did say that I consider them 1. overpowered 2. not enjoyable in the least to fight. This last is the crux of the issue. From this you extrapolate an entire universe of things which were not said.

As I have said twice before, you are welcome to all of the stupidly overpowered Malta you want. Have at 'em. You don't consider them overpowered, and that's great.... but your opinion in no way trumps my own, because all of this is entirely subjective.

I will avoid them from now on, just like I avoid other stupidly overpowered groups. We have a few at varying levels, all very avoidable. I am sorry that this seems to make you feel that I am a Carebear [see what I did there...?], but there the matter rests for me.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Not to put words in anyone's mouth, but it sounds like people think the enemies should just brawl so they don't have to worry about dying.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nooooooo, let's restate this one more time so that we can try [again!] to lay this non-sequiter to rest:

No one has said that they "want enemies to only use Brawl." If you think otherwise, do produce a quote because I don't remember saying that anywheres, nor have I seen anyone else saying it.

    Malta- we have:

    *Sappers

*Five minute Ice holds [or they certainly FEEL like 5 min...]

    *Five minute Stuns

    *Porters

    *High DoT Toxic Holds

    *high-damage missile swarms

... And probably a few other things I'm forgetting at the moment.

Take some of these things and put them together and you have "challenge." Put ALL of them together and you have "ridiculous."

I know some of you want to pretend that we have two extremes in the game to choose from, with nothing in between: pushover and OMG OVERPOWERED! Anyone objecting to the last is obviously a pushover-desiring Carebear with the gaming skills of the average hydrocephalic, who wants the first.

Luckily that's not how it actually goes down.

I see all of this hate for Malta, why? I love fighting them because they're actually a challenge unlike some mobs in this game. I believe more mobs need to be like Malta, smarter.

    [/ QUOTE ]

they're no more intelligent than any other enemy faction, they just have much harsher powers at their disposal.

if you like 'em, knock yourself out.
I'd rather bail hay than fight Malta.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You don't like them because they're not some pushover like other factions, say Council?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Never once said that, thanks.

I don't like them because I regard a high-DoT Toxic hold on top of a 5-minute Stun and a high-damage Missile Swarm and a 5-minute Hold to be ridiculously overpowered. Ridiculously overpowered means that Bad will not accept those newspaper/scanner mishes and she will also avoid those contacts. See, I am in the game to have fun. Ridiculously overpowered is not fun to me.

Therefore you can now have all of my Malta! They're all yours; enjoy 'em. Its a win-win!

*gives you all of my Malta*

Enjoy! I no longer want them.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
The whole reason that XP was increased and debt halved in missions was to get people teaming instead of just constantly farming street mobs in hazard zones.

It'd still be farming, and it was farming then

    [/ QUOTE ]

ZOMG EVERYTHING IN THE GAME IS A FARM....! DELETE EVERYONE!

    /endsarcasm

You know, here's the amusing thing: in my opinion, clearing out a warehouse full of Hellions is no less a farm than killing things outside, or killing 1 million of the same exact thing in an MA mission.

Its no different, yet one is seen as The Ultimate Evil and the other is a Get Into Heaven Free card. People are funny.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Higher level enemies are only a threat because they can mez you. If you remove that ability everything becomes a cakewalk.

And in my opinion, cakewalk = boring.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Better yank Breakfrees out of the game, then. In fact, let's do away with ALL inspirations, they make the game a cakewalk.

I will never understand why its ok that some people are allowed to have [x] and it is in fact their birthright... but other people wanting a piece of the exact same slice of dessert is "making the game a cakewalk."

Or perhaps we should REMOVE status protection from melee-types, eh? Sounds like a plan to me, and think of how "interesting" THAT would make the game.

p.s Artic, just ignore "rachel." She showed her colors well and truly in the main forums' MA thread; trust me giving her more time is just opening yourself up to more of her trying to tell you what you should be doing every second you're in the game.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I guess the old comment is true.

People want smarter AI foes, then when they do appear people complain about their difficulty.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Giving titans a Toxic hold with DoT is not making them "smarter." There is nothing more intelligent about that, the basic behavior of the NPC is unchanged.

But hey it is all good. If they want Malta to be a group I 110% avoid like the plague - just like how I avoid Knives - its all good. I'll go beat up some Carnies instead.

  16. I think it was Samuel Tow who brought this up not too long ago, but its worth questioning again because it is just that kind of bizarre.

Who in the name of ten thousand small green devils was sitting around in the NCSoft offices going:

"....Hey, you know, Malta are seriously underpowered. I think Malta might even be an exploit...! Its not enough that they got Sappers, its not enough that they got 5-minute stuns and its not enough that Gunslingers have a five-minute Hold on toppa that. No! Malta are waaaaaaay too easy!

We gotta fix this! I know, lets give the Titans a Toxic hold on top of all that! Awesome idea! It'll not only Hold them, it will do a ton of DoT as the victim is held forever in some robotic green cloud o' funk. I should win an award for this...!" *races off to the drawing board*

Whoever that was needs thier funny-bone rapped hard and repeatedly with a rubber reflex-hammer until they lie on the floor curled into a ball, begging for mercy. Sort of like Chinese water torture but with a little rubber mallet.

[I think it was the Titans who had the stupid hold; if not them, SOMEBODY certainly had it. And btw this is NOT an MA issue.]

    EPIC FAIL!

Specifically, I made me a new villain with the emptiest face I could find, which simply MADE the character. One of the new male faces, I don't remember which one, which is both completely empty of any emotion, yet still sinister and scary in its almost-blank eyes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are you talking about the Supernatural male one with a lot of eyeshadow and very slight veining...? It is sinister and I LOVE IT....

That is a fantastic face; I put it on a new character and it just transformed him. I think that is my favorite of the entire lot, male or female.

Funny thing is, I had one of those "GRRR!" faces on my Stalker when I first made him, because it fit his character. After being laughed at by everyone who saw it, he got a trip to the tailor PDQ. No one laughs at him now... he recently beat BaB to a quivering pulp, and no he didnt use Shivans or Nukes to do it.

The only time I have seen a good use of the male "expression" faces was when someone on Guardian had a traditional "spaceman"-type of character, he was really friendly and nice and that big silly grin suited him perfectly. Perfect bio, too. Not many characters can pull that sort of thing off; I know my Stalker couldn't.

One nice thing about the new faces is that they have a very reflective quality, which allows them to reflect ambient light. Their texture is completely different from the old faces. Sure hope we get more of these soon! [hint hint]

I'm trying to make a screenshot of my game, but it always comes out as a pitch black image. I've tried the old Alt-PrtScrn combo, but it comes out as previously mentioned. Is there another way to take screenshots in-game?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Gadwin PrintScreen works well on my Vista machine; I never leave home without it.
  19. QR:

I would love to see the NPCs in this game become more aggressive. If they see you and you're close enough, they should attack; and by "see" I mean if you're 100 feet away, they should not ignore you like they do now. Running bosses should be stricken from the game at once.

But implement any form of Diminishing Returns in PvE and I will start eyeing other games a lot more closely. I no longer make Shivan runs over this, and if anyone in devleopment thinks I am tolerating this in PvE, they are crazy.

Add a setting on top of Invincible/Relentless for the Deathomaniacs among us. But keep that Diminishing Returns far, far away from me.
  20. ^^^ those are excellent points...

I think the thing that bugs me is that if you are in the MA building as a level 50 these days, you are EXPECTED to PL. It is now your JOB. Strangers are ENTITLED to your going out of your way to level them up.

Not so much, unless you and I are good friends. My level 50 is in the MA building to generate Prestige and Inf. for myself and my SG. I'm not there to PL stranger-newbs, altho if not more than two are on the team I am ok with it. I'm there because if I want to run MA missions, I *have* to go to Atlas to find a team. I am in essence forced to be in the zone.

This strikes me as borked, so I'm rapidly moving to the mindset that MA needs to be out of at least Atlas, KR and Galaxy. I'm draconian and if it were up to me, I'd yank it out of Steel too.

I have been running more regular missions lately anyways; the MA is starting to give me a massive headache. I am just so tired of all this crap.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
A partial solution to this, in my opinion, is to remove AE buildings from lowbie zones. This eliminate most of the farm spam in broadcast, this will allow the newbies to enter the game in the traditional way, doing official content and getting real teams.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't know how effective that will be, because I well remember the days when PI was full of <10s.

Last night my level 44 was in PI for a bit. I was literally the only person in the zone. Since Atlas has more than enough people in it by default, i am wondering if we really perhaps do NOT need MA buildings in Atlas, KR, Galaxy and Steel. If the "entitled" want to PL, let's make them travel a bit to do it, like they had to do back in the day.

Leave the lowbies in Atlas, upper-level people return to upper-level zones. I think its an idea at least worth trying.
  22. QR:

Had my level 50 Defender out to play in MA. Got on a team only to discover I was the lone 50 amongst a sea of <level 15s. I politely explained why that was not going to work, and dropped team. Shortly thereafter I was on a 45+ team and felt a lot better about it.

Evidently the first team dissolved when I left, and the level 8 Tank began to ask me to get him on my team as I was standing around waiting for the leader to set mission....pah-leeeease would I get him on my team!

me: Dude, we're full. I'm sorry. This is a level 50 team anyways. [and this was true]

8Tank [not his real name]: But I need a team man!

me: Why don't you go level up a bit, then get on a lowbie farm? every level you gain makes you more desireable as a team member, go get you some levels man

8Tank: LOL wow I don't believe your attitude. Man. Takes the cake.

me: You need shields to be effective as a Tank. Why not go get some? Go over to KR, plenty of teams there. You will level plenty fast.

    8Tank: l8tr, stuck-up.

Thankfully the mish was then up and I escaped. These people make me want to /headdesk repeatedly. It is MA OR THE HIGHWAY there is no other way to level now, these people are so freakin' clueless it scares me.
  23. QR: here's a new thing I've noticed and am not too happy about:

Nowadays every time my /regen Scrapper zones, even from a mission etc. she does the Integration scream. This used to happen only when I toggled it on, and I could get around that by toggling in flight.

It really breaks my immersion for my Scrapper to be roleplaying a Gardvord every time she gets off the tram, just sayin'.

I should have too, but I like to see the train wrecks happen.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    While on one?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It can be amusing. The funny thing is to watch even the ones who think strangers should be PLing them stand around after zoning in and getting an eyeful of a huge group of 50+s staring them in the face... and its someone else's job to get the party started, because they may be new but they can recognize A World Of Hurt when they see it.

On the team I mentioned earlier, after a lot of looking the leader secured a Tank for the team. Everyone was sooooo happy, and then I quietly checked his info while we were waiting outside mission.

    He was level 7.

A leve 7 Tank ain't got nothin'. No attacks. No defense, no resists, he has the sum total of jack and ****.

When we zoned in he stood there for about 30 seconds looking at the 50+s and then his logoff countdown began. Without quitting first, mind you....!

    Lawltastic.
  25. Takes all kinds... because some of them, to me, are truly great.

I never say no to more faces and more hairstyles in the game, because the more the merrier.
