Quote:I love Maleficent. Horned headdresses are just the ultimate. There's something so evil about them. I sure wish we could have a cool staff crowned by a live raven, like that in the game. What an awesome pet.Beast Mastery definitely needs a bear as the Tier 3 pet. Especially if it's going to be a pay-for powerset. I know that it wasn't intended to be "turned on" in this beta and it's super early and unfinished, but on the bright side, that means there might actually be time for our feedback to be taken into account! Usually by the time we set a set, it's far too late to make any major changes to it.
Also:
Tiger as tier 3 pet please. I'd like for VIPs not to have to pay for this set, either. That goes for staffs too. -
Quote:*Annoyed* oh good lord, there are some of you who are just NOT going to be happy until not only are all female player characters arrayed in gunny-sacks, knee-socks and Keds sneakers, but all the female NPCs are too.
For the moment, though, I suggest we sit and wait. I'm more than positive Diabolique's current look has been planned for months and months before the fallout from the Gunslinger set came about, so if we'll see anything happen, it'll be much later this year, at best with I23, if not even past that. Again - David Nakayama has proven to be an open-minded person who's willing to discuss artwork and facilitate reasoned arguments, so I'm hopeful.
Speaking generally: Some of you hate sexy: we get it. Some of you have odd ideas of what is sexy: we get it. There are plenty of options in this game so that your female characters don't even have to show a single inch of facial skin AND their clothing can be unisex-baggy to boot. Do this all day long- they're your characters and you have freedom of choice.
NOT ALL OF US WANT THAT. And frankly if Diabolique's costume or look are made to reflect this new aesthetic, I won't be happy. I DON'T LIKE UGLY. I CAN SEE THAT IRL. I am in this game to escape, not see ugly NPCs. Unless theyre ugly-cool, like Arachnoids or something.
Diabolique, Ghost Widow and their ilk are supernaturally-powered characters and they do what they want. The distraction of one's enemy via uber-hotness is a legitimate tactic. Frankly if it were possible to be such a thing, and be so beautiful on top of that, I wouldn't be kowtowing to the "you ought to be wearing a gunny-sack!" crowd either.
*gets off soap-box* -
Quote:Yup. My monitor is 19" and Diabolique is looking pretty darn hot, puns intended.A 1680×1050 pic is your desktop? I take it you're using a 16x10 monitor around the 19-20'' size range?
That is probably a statement of innate gear-uncoolness, perhaps I will get a bigger screen when I replace my rig in 2013.
The new DA zone is made of win, although it resembles the real DA but little. Especially enjoyed: the random echoing screams of anguish as one flies about the zone. Also, the Queen from Aliens is in there, and how can that NOT be cool.
I do wonder how we are supposed to access the old DA through Oro, since there is nary a contact or a mission to be found in it. -
Quote:Word! What is all the complaining about, Diabolique is SO GORGEOUS that she's actually my desktop wallpaper right now! Every part of her is sublime! The hat! The loincloth! [and when are we getting those, developers? Since you are so kindly about to give us the Carnie sash, you can get right on this loincloth thing next, ok? and yes we will give up capes to use it] the boots! The little stand-up collar! Her makeup *swoon!*! she even has long fingernails, and its just complaincomplaincomplain.Looks good. I don't know why Diabolique's new costume has been getting such hate, though. I like it, especially the fiery horn-hat.
I swear its like if we dare to see a pretty woman in this game, everyone just comes out of the woodwork with an anti-sexy rant. There is nothing more comic-book than scantily-clad bombshells, so everyone needs to just get over it. I say this as a woman myself
p.s. please include tigers in the beast mastery set, tyvm. -
Why would we need to *make* the most annoying enemy group ever, when they already exist? I point you to.... the Knives of Artemis.

The Phoenix wings do not flap, and for that alone they have my undying love. I do wish you could make BLACK ones that didnt simply turn into almost-invisible steam.
Pretty much all I truly want out of this set are the wings and the helmet; but just those two pieces are pretty awesome. -
Ok, so I'm building a base again for the first time in literally years, and its slowly coming back to me - but one thing I cant remember for the life of me: how do you put stuff such as microscopes or crystal balls, on top of simple desks obviously meant to hold them?
All of the base-building guide-links are broken, the search-engine on this site is like something straight out ouf the Pit - and I don't feel like spending three hours tracking down this information when a simple question would suffice. Would someone kind please refresh my memory on how to put one object on top of another one which is obviously meant to hold it?
Eternal thank-yous:

Quote:I rejoice when people DON'T lie there endlessly, instead of going to the hospital and actually getting back into the fight as they ought to be doing! Lying there endlessly is leeching, in my book.On that note, I hate that people click "go to hospital" the instant they're defeated, so nobody bothers to try rezzing anybody, so nobody bothers to wait a few seconds for a rez, so nobody bothers to try to rez anybody....and you end up in a vicious cycle. There is almost no point to having Vengeance on these things.
And yes, Vengeance is 98% useless. Not to mention, I am not going to lie there and hopeity-hope-hope-hope that maybe someone, somewhere on the league has it and no doubt if I lie there long enough, they'll use it...! I'm an Incarnate; I can get MYSELF back from the hospital. Just like I could at level 5.
Now about that timer which evidently was introduced for the SOLE purpose of ticking off the playerbase and hopefully, causing the trial to fail by reducing damage for just that teensy little bit of time.... got nothing good to say about this beyond-useless game mechanic. But my hat is off to everyone with enough gumption to actually not be scared of running back around the corner from the hosp. in BAF. *eyeroll* -
Quote:Yeah, sure they are. They're doing it so much that they're having to hold the Sword of Damocles over everyone's head in an effort to get players to run the newer content. That's what they're doing [giving players what they want - edit]
Corporal Hicks: [sarcastic] "Looks like love at first sight to me...." -
Quote:The developers are badly, badly mistaken if they think applying the stick is going to get me to run this stuff. If anything, it will have the opposite effect.
This is what *I* dislike about I-trials, please don't threaten me or force me to play content that I do not find enjoyable. If certain people would rather run a Lambda or a BAF rather than a MoM or a TPN that should be their choice.
From what I understand so far, I am not really interested in running Omega content anyways, so if they want to kill this golden goose completely dead, I'll get over it. I have no emotional investment in it. Although I do find the idea of striving for months or possibly years on a system - MA comes to mind - only to almost instantly turn people off to the concept, pretty LOL-tastic.
Give the people what they want, and this won't be an issue. -
First, crowing about this sort of thing in public is the best way to start a nice handy nerfball rolling.
Second, I still have the Gull turn off SB and all group travel powers the instant I hit about.... level 20. Maybe sooner.... the instant I start being able to manage Endurance issues pretty well by myself. -
Quote:Um.... excuse me?!
Step 2. Destroy the Rogue Isles - no one uses it now anyway.
The Isles are some of the only escape we get from the multifarious blandnesses of Paragon City, a place where 'most every zone looks exactly alike. I find it ironic that your list of keeper zones are some of the most visually bland.
I am however, good with nuking Striga and especially, Independance Port. Horribly boring zones. Take the contacts and put them somewheres else. Anywheres will do. -
Quote:Anything which cuts down on the sheer mind-numbing infuriation that is the BAF trial cutscene is worth it. I have half a mind to trigger a nuke on zoning into BAF one of these days, just to see if the effects carry over.Just was running a BAF on virtue. Before we went in, someone used the winter event temp snow storm power. Then when the cutscene started, it was snowing INSIDE the building! Awesome stuff..try it!
I'd love to see other little things like thing find their way into cutscenes during Events. Maybe Mother with a stocking hat? Antimatter with a string of bells around his next? Marauder with a big candycane sticking out his pocket?
Going to see if it works in some of the other ones!
Hate that cutscene with the burning fury of a thousand supernova-ing suns. And yes, it still triggers 99% of the time. -
Quote:You're so angry. I like that about you.
Elemental: I'm sick of bells and whistles attached to every damn mission being made. For the finale of Praetoria just give us this http://youtu.be/sKT3RFCggKM and focus on writing a decent plot for the trial instead of sniffing paint to see what retarded gimmick you can think of and cram in next. And for god's sake let him die, I'm sick of all the praetorians limping away due to plot when they should be deader than dead. It's war, 99% of our characters would have gladly ripped Marauder's head clean off at the end or blown a hole straight through anti-matter. None of my characters, hero or villian want to let Cole live. NONE. OF. THEM.
Remember the first Spider-man movie? There the Green Goblin is on his glider, taunting Spider-man on the bridge when a bunch of civilians start pelting GG with tire-irons and various other debris. He just shrugs that off and ignores it.
Such hokum, when anyone knows Osborn would REALLY have firebombed that crowd into shrieking, stop-drop-and-rolling cinders for even daring to address him. As I recall Dr Octopus was pretty bad about that too: for a mundane to even address Ock was to take one's life into one's hands. The Adam Troy Castro Spider-man novels were GREAT in portraying how labile these villains could be.
I have a big problem with how "nice" this genre is sometimes. I can tell you none of my villains especially have the slightest problem with seeing Liberty laying dead under the Atlas statue as States mourns.... in fact that's good for a giggle or three.
"Yeah, we killed her. And now.... we're here for YOU." -
Quote:I'm truly sorry this happened. This was not my base, thankfully, but it did happen to my friend.
Breakdown of story:
Red Star has been offline for longer than designated time.
Troll ended up with Red Star
Troll has kicked 98% of the SG
Troll has deleted the ENTIRE BASE (and it wasn't easy putting this one together either)
Officer who is still in has next to no permissions.
Is there any way to get the base back into more cappable hands through Customer Service or something?
This isn't a small SG either (well, it wasn't) and has a very sizable bank of Prestige that has been worked very hard for.
Any help would be appreciated.
This is why, when I hold rank whether in my own SGs or any other, I make sure to log in every couple of days at LEAST. That way this isn't an issue.
I would definitely one-star the perpetrator, and I might even end up jumping servers to get away from them. I have leapt servers to get far, far away from d-bags in the past, and I'm capable of such future action. But I've always been one to take a Spyderco Harpy to a Gordian Knot, anyways -
..You know what was borked to the point of being hilarious...? Having numina be a WST during the freaking HALLOWEEN EVENT. Someone, somewhere didn't put their thinking-cap on at all.

Quote:I was just in Pocket D and some guy announced, "iTrial forming". I sent a tell asking which one.
His response, "One we haven't done"
My response, "LOL Well which have you done"
His response, "I have lead all but UGT"
My response, "Not trying to be a pest, but does that mean you are going to do UGT?"
We sent a few more tells and I say, " I understand. Ty for your patience with me"
His response, "That's fine, but next time leave it to me to form"
Wait, what? Is it so wrong to want to know which iTrial? I didn't even respond because I thought I was being gracious with my last comment even though I was already a little frustrated, then to have him end it with that...am I wrong here and not seeing something?
me: "Well ok then, thanks for invite and good luck." *quit* *assign two stars*
This says to me he's about to try something unpopular. Don't blame you for passing. -
Trials which I do not enjoy: TPN, MoM, Keyes. I could go into the reasons why, but that's the bottom line. I can get what I need by running BAF and LAM, and that's the salient point.
Removing rewards from BAF and LAM will not prod me into entering these debt-farms, I'll just stop running BAF and LAM too. I say that because even now, some developer somewheres is trying to figure out how to prod us into doing this content, and whatever it is its not going to work. Heading that off at the pass.
I know its not going to work because I'm on Virtue and I continually see people struggling to fill Keyes trials in RWZ, and its strugglestrugglestruggle while someone says "BAF forming, tell for invite" : BAM! they're full, another person says "Speed LAM forming, send tell" and BAM! they're full too. Even UG trials fill fairly fast... The Keyes people are still begging.
Un-fun content is un-fun. -
Good luck with the level 57 villains. I'm not sure even my +3s want to see them again at this point. The only thing I know is that the MoM and TPN trials are not enjoyable to me. Only now I turned down an invitation to run MoM, because I found UG more fun.
[At least, its more fun if you get a beatable version of the LIWW, which we did.] -
Quote:Oh good lord.... now its you cant just be +1 levelshifted, you have to be MORE.
The problem comes in when unlevelshifted and those only +1 levelshifted try to join Underground Trials, TPN Trials, and MoM Trials. So, avoid those three for now until you're at least +2 levelshifted[...]
Must be why I see so many people struggling to fill non-BAF/LAM trial leagues. This whole issue is just getting silly-ridiculous. -
O rly?
Quote:Have you not been purchasing costume packs?
Quote:Have you created a character, spent money on costume parts, and then edited that character's costume to add those costume parts?
Quote:If you're so gung-ho desperate to get ONE costume piece, and you are cursed, and you open up 50 ****zillion packs and don't get it, you're obviously willing to buy a few more packs to finally get that piece you want.
Quote:I'm saying it's important that you don't have to delete and recreate your character to take advantage of "finally" getting that last piece.
Quote:It's important that you CAN buy packs over time rather than shelling out a massive lump sum all at once. that changes the dynamic.
Quote:If the only way to get a subscription to this game was to shell out the cash quarterly, or yearly, it would not have as many subscribers. $15 a month is easier for some people to pay than a 6 month sub even with a discount figured in.
Im glad you love the idea of these packs. I am more than happy to let you waste cash buying them. I'll pass, thanks. -
Quote:Since we are paying for 99% of new costume pieces now, that is a moot point.Given the thread we're in and the quote of mine you replied to, you really need to be clear. Do you mean all new costume pieces will need to be bought, or do you mean all new costume pieces will need to be bought through the super pack?
My suspicion is that soon all of them will be sold through these [un]Super Packs. They're testing the waters now, and although those waters are somewhat roiled by consumer dissent, they'll go ahead and do it anyways.
Quote:If it's through the super pack, then I feel safe in saying that's just being highly alarmist for reasons already stated.
Quote:It it's just buying all costume pieces...yeah, that's a possibility, but I would hope they'd know the kind of hate that would generate.
Quote:Even I couldn't defend that as a good practice. But right now there's no indication that will happen. -
Quote:Catch up how....? By buying more packs? *laughs* Gah. The more I think about it the more repellant this entire concept becomes.
If there was an archetype exclusive to the packs, that would be another problem entirely because you can't respec into that. The fact that you can always catch up later if you're particularly unlucky really helps to mitigate any potential downfalls of the super packs. -
Quote:I don't think anyone has stated this. Its going to be a gradual thing.... just like the Super Boosters were.... and eventually its going to be ALL new costume pieces. They're not going to issue a fiat yet, knowing the [righteous] rage that would ensue; they're going to try to be sneaky about it.The point is that at this point in time, it's highly alarmist to assume all costume sets, that is to say every single one, that is to say without any exceptions, will now be sold through the super packs.
As if people are not going to notice.
Quote:We will even have some that are granted free with each issue to VIPs, and some to everyone regardless of status.
If there is anything that runs me out of VIP status, this just might be it.
