Quick and simple stacking question:

Annulled

Ok, so I'm building a base again for the first time in literally years, and its slowly coming back to me - but one thing I cant remember for the life of me: how do you put stuff such as microscopes or crystal balls, on top of simple desks obviously meant to hold them?

All of the base-building guide-links are broken, the search-engine on this site is like something straight out ouf the Pit - and I don't feel like spending three hours tracking down this information when a simple question would suffice. Would someone kind please refresh my memory on how to put one object on top of another one which is obviously meant to hold it?

Eternal thank-yous:
Bad

The base editor was recently updated. Items are allowed to clip, and you can control their placement.

After initially placing an item, shift+click+drag will allow you vertical control over the moment; ctrl+click+drag will move the item only on its horizontal plane (though sometimes hard walls like to trick up the placements); and alt+click+drag will rotate the item, sometimes around its central axis, sometimes around the central axis of its placement box, and sometimes around an arbitrary point - it varies by item.

To place an item on top of a desk, place it on the ground near the desk. Use shift+click+drag to move it up the vertical height of the desk, and then use ctrl+click+drag to move it on to the desk. Hope this helps!

After a few hours of trying to make a staircase in a rather small area using various materials and stacking methods, I came across this post while looking for advice. In less than half an hour I had a fully functional, kinda neat looking, narrow staircase made from shoji lamps.

THANK YOU

If ignorance is bliss, why ain't you smilin' ?

I can just put stuff like a microscope directly on a desk. No keyboard combination needed. Not all items that seem to allow placement of other items on top of them do though.
