Yeah, I noticed most of the Cimerora-themed arcs tended to be a bit more on the difficult side. Luckily, I solo with my scrapper when reviewing them the prior week.

And GRATZ! on your first Leadership arc!! It can be daunting remembering all the cutting/pasting and such. Does this mean I get to be a follower next time
  2. I was out of town this weekend but ran these during the week so the MA Superteam would have a playlist of Ædes of March arcs. Here's this week's Greek/Roman/Cimerora-themed epics:

#458083 "All For Love In Cimerora" by @Daggerjack
    4 Mish, Heroic

#144447 "Gladiators of Venus" by @pnakotus
    5 Mish, Heroic

#89438 "Facing the Darkness" by @Leandro
    3 Mish, Heroic

#259452 "A Discordant Note" by @Sentinel of Freedom
    4 Mish, Heroic

#175660 "The Heart of Talos: A Warriors Task Force" by @Djinniman
    4 Mish, Heroic

All for love in Cimerora is a creative, Ouro-modern, CoH-telling of the love story of Troy. The characters, dialog, details and costumes are a treat and the action is fast-paced. If you're familiar with Helen of Troy and all it's characters you'll have a blast making the connections.

I gave this one BEST OVERALL for the week but the Superteam says they hit a bug in mission 2 so they had to abandon it. I didn't encounter any bugs solo, so it may have just been a group thing or Fredrik had been drinking again ;P

Gladiators of Venus is a bit of a stretch on the theme. It's a sci-fi arc set in a Gladiator arena on a distant planet! The missions are short & quick, but it's the unique storytelling and characters that make this arc shine. Plus, you get to make a moral choice in mission 4 if you pay attention to the story! MOST CREATIVE

(note: there was 1 invalid character that spawns as a 5th Column mekman but it may be fixed by now)

Facing the Darkness is a sequel of sorts to the Imperius Task Force. What happens to Romulus' Cimeroran followers after he falls? (...well, besides being ground up for XP?) Let's just say Romulus' alliance with the 5th Column takes the next logical step... The canon ties and great details make this a top-shelf story, but it's the Nictus-infused Cimerorans that win it BEST CUSTOMS of the week!

And the final arcs, A Discordant Note and The Heart of Talos were both solid stories with great action. I remember Heart of Talos was especially ingenious as it tied the street thug Warriors into Cimeroran mythos. A perfect canon match!
    Honorable mentions:

#183037 "Clash of the Titans" by @Operative Ajax

    #2521 "Time's New Roman" by @marqaha
    3 Mish, Heroic
It was a big list this week as there are a LOT of exciting mythic arcs out there. Load a few up and test your mettle against AE's best!

Next Sunday (3/20/11): It's TBD week! We don't have a theme yet. Show up and see what kind of wackiness ensues!!

    St. Patricks Day

Here's some we played a couple weeks ago with the MA Superteam. They're not all "Traditional" St. Patty's arcs but they were fun! Most of the St. Patty's arcs we found on searches were farms so we stretched the theme to include Celtic themed arcs, pots of gold, rainbows, 4-leaf clovers, and luck.

  4. How'd it go last week with the Ides of March theme? I had a lot of fun running thru arcs to make the playlist but missed the session.
  5. Great entries so far and nice touch with adding the mug, EnnVee

That reminds me, feel free to edit your entries up to the 31st. Also, you can enter as many times as you like. Have fun and good luck everybody!
  6. I wish I had the guts to vender those off at 1inf. I just know, with my luck, they'd sell for 100.

You, sir, are a stud. I'm looking forward to seeing how this works out.

    The new merits

You can also buy 1 Alignment Merit per day for something like 50 Reward Merits and 20 Million inf.

I can't remember if the 50 Reward Merits are limited to story arc Merits or if Vanguard Merits count, too. Depending on the recipes you get from an Alignment Merit roll you should easily be able to make the 20 million back on the market and have plenty left over.

See Organica's thread for a good guide: 30 Hero Merit Rolls.

  9. Love it EnnVee, thanks for the entry and kicking off the contest!
  10. Hi everybody, I'm Back-Fire, proprietor of The Crafter's Cafe arc #487283.
And in celebration of the GRAND OPENING of the Crafter's Cafe, I'm hosting an art contest!

The Crafter's Cafe is not your typical AE arc, it's an in-game, non-combat setting complete with colorful characters, hidden easter eggs, and working Invention Tables. And in an effort to "bring it to life" I'd like to give it a logo! That's where you come in...

From now thru March 31st I am taking submissions for a Crafter's Cafe logo!

Come up with a logo you feel is worthy to be emblazoned on the finest cuppa in the multiverse and you could win:

One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive:
1 Hero Merit spent to their choosing
    20 Million Influence
and have the character of their choosing added as a cameo into the cafe!
Three (3) Runner Ups will receive:
1 random recipe from a Hero Merit roll
    10 Million Influence
and have a text cameo in a clue in the cafe!
Post your entries in this thread and I will combine them with the entries from the Player Events thread to choose a winner! I will announce the winners the following week & send prizes via in-game gleemail. It's that easy.

(NOTE: if you do not have a way of hosting an image, you can PM me for an email address to send your entry to)

A little background if you need it:

The Crafter's Cafe is a 1 misison, non-combat story arc that features "City of"-themed beverages, iconic cameos, easter eggs, forum humor, and (most important) workable Invention Tables.

Simply enter the mission and use the crafting tables in the back room. Once you're finished crafting & exploring, find the glowing computer and click it to complete. No muss, no fuss.

Many players have found the cafe very useful as they use AE to stock up on specific salvage when crafting instead of paying inflated rates at the auction house. Now they can craft in the same building they buy their salvage as opposed to traveling back and forth from base/university/RWZ to AE and back.

Plus, it makes a crafting table available in almost every zone, red or blue side, since AE is almost everywhere!

I think that about sums it up! If you have any questions, post 'em here or PM me. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

  11. A buddy just shared this review of the first 6 issues with me and now I MUST own this series.

It sounds like, "What if UniqueDragon wrote Batman?"

Deconstructing the Complete and Utter Insanity of 'Batman: Odyssey'

  12. I wouldn't get return customers if I killed 'em, now, would I? That'd just be bad business! Thanks for giving it a whirl, Graper and good luck on your bet

Pretty sure that was the joke...
  14. I play frequently enough, but I'm thinking of running a contest that would run at times when I'm offline, too. I don't expect too big a response but was just trying to figure out problems that may arise ahead of time.

Now that I think about it, it's probably based on file size as opposed to # of messages. I guess I could test this by sending tells to friends I know that no longer have active accounts...
  15. Sure, it was self aggrandizing, but it was also very fun and well put together. I loved the metagame humor, the spot-on render of Ms Liberty to her RL model, and (of course) the "knowing is half the battle" punchline

It had a charmingly cheesy Golden Age 'feel' that you just don't see much anymore. And you can never go wrong with "FREEEEM!"

    Well done, GG.
  16. Anyone have a guess as to how many comments one can have before it starts kicking out the "mailbox full" reply?
  17. Shouldn't some of those rangers have walkers by now?!?

And what were they thinking? They're supposed to gather on TOP of the hill for the invasion!! Newbs.
  18. Wow. I'm NOT the only one! Been happening since GR came out and I upgraded my rig. I figured it was just something buggy with my new mouse or I was getting old.
  19. We had a bonnie-good time (is that even a word?) this weekend as the MA Superteam donned their green bowlers and brushed up on Celtic mythos for Luck o' the Ærish!...arcs that feature Luck, Celtic &/or St. Patrick's Day themes!

This weekend's arcs were an interesting mix of typical St. Patty's fare and unexpected twists on convention.
Celtic Mischief took the prize for BEST CUSTOMS. This was our only "traditional" St. Patty's arc. Light on the story but a fun, quick beat-em-up with all the characters you'd expect to find in a Leprechaun's Lair.

Faerie Gold was our BEST OVERALL for the week, with richly detailed characters, sharp dialog, fast-paced action, and an interesting story. It wasn't so much "St. Patty's" but it was definitely FUN!

The Legend of Lady Luck was intended to be an "Honorable Mention" but we had extra time and willing players so we ran it. This is one of those arcs that has a great concept and you can tell the author put a lot of effort into it, but the complete story just didn't quite get across. It takes a unique twist on the concept of Luck and features a really interesting contact in the form of a book. Rough around the edges, but still a good play.
Next Sunday (3/13/11): I will likely be out of town but will pass on a playlist to another member to lead. Our theme will be The Ædes of March!! Get your gladiator gear oiled up as we take on all challengers in the realm of Greek/Roman/Cimeroran arcs. Afterall, THIS. IS. A-EEEEEEEEE!!!!

Next time you stop in check out Dr. Aeon's new animation and bio, I think you'll be pleased BTW- now I can't stop thinking Dr. A needs his own arc to expand on his new bio! We'll see if I get inspired enough to follow thru on it. Thanks for a great suggestion!

Also, there may be another familiar forum face hanging out in the lobby.
  22. Huh. I've only found 5 arcs in the system that might qualify. If you know of a good one, please share it here.

I've expanded the theme to anything remotely related to St. Patty's Day:
    Leprechauns
    Luck
    Green
    Ireland
    Irish
    Kilts
    Pots o' gold
    Shamrocks
    Clovers
Anything along those lines are fine.

The MA Superteam misses ya WN. If I could give you my unused slots I totally would.

Thanks Bubba, I couldn't have done it without ya! And advertising's my specialty, y'know?

Just fyi- I'm sure it's been used more, but the arc has only received 17 play/rates so far and I seem to get at least one random 1-star a night (go figure).

I'm still making some final tweaks before I unleash it to the masses so any feedback is totally welcome!
