Personally I use a Plantronics usb headset which is it's own sound card. My GF appreciates not hearing my games and music go figure - so I never really cared to much about sound cards. If your an audiophile then I would look at Creative or Asus Sonar (the latter being a tad expensive but amazing sound).

on X-mas's 1200 dollar rig - I would say drop the 260 and get a 275 or even a 285. Not in COH but the 260 is going to be starved if you run above 1650 (I run 1920x1080 with it and in COH it can stutter with a lot on screen).

if the game ends at 50 - is that the players fault ? 5 years and they cannot come up with end game content? You could try pvp - that keeps some of us in the game - oh wait they screwed that up....

You can get windows vista now and a free upgrade to 7 when it comes out. If you want to spend 1200-1400 and not be an uber gamer you might want to check out www.gotapex.com for deals on dells. You can get a pretty nice prebuilt system for that amount of money. If you want to build yourself three things

get the best power supply you can afford - corsair or antec
get the most memory you can afford - 64 bit is the wave of the future invest now (and memory is cheap)

For power supply - Corsair is probably your best bet. Antec as well.

Video card - if you plan to stick with COH get an nvidia one - 260 or 275 gtx.

Sound card - most motherboards these days have really good onboard sound (HD audio spec).

Memory - meh name brands - corsair, crucial, OCZ, Geil - memory is pretty cheap right now.

uhh they take the servers down every day..they have forever. How does that affect you, oh you can't play? no one can because it is MAINTENANCE.

When they have double xp weekends and free activation weekends I can never get on freedom. Waaa Waaa.

simple answer yes if your KB mag is greater than the KB protection they will get knocked back/up

hover has a "fly" of 4. the minus fly of most is 1.6. Only webnades and entangling arrow have a -10.

So unless you own the zone, only traps corrs and ta mms can down hover with one shot versus devs blasters and ta def and ta controllers.

that is odd becuase what does work for me is my system with the 4870 in it.

ATI since cat 5.3 has had full opengl 2.0 support but between the two I would argue nvidia has much better performance and support (can we still not turn on water effects with ati/) -meh I am not really going to argue it anyway...since your partially right about drivers

kind of hard to down a flying dev blaster without webnades or entagling arrow since most of them use hover - or a flying anything for that matter using hover. Unless you have the zone or have a traps corr or ta mm...there is nothing you can do....and a ta mm is going to be hard pressed to down anything since the snipe range > arrow range and they get 594 hp in sc. Add to that a devs blaster can ground you with their webnade and still snipe..

not complaining just pointing out -

no error just kicked back to log in and if I try to log in again it tells me my toon is already logged in to the game. I have the windows firewall turned off and using the same connection on a differet box i can get right in.

there were no changes for the better. Check any review pro or joe average and they will say the #1 thing about pvp in coh is the speed...and they nerfed that. Suppression is the biggest and dumbest thing they have done in to pvp besides heal decay. They effectively nerfed kins as a useful at. They gave red side the one thing is has been dying for for years - an emp, in pain doms, and then made healing a death sentence for buffing toons (the one exception being mms in BG mode but then they don't really work as a team buffer). The only things left were control and damange. They made control neutral across the board so all you really have left is dmg. Widows and Ice tanks were awesome for ranged and melee dmg until they decided elusivity was OP too...so now you have dmg. Nothing but dmg. Zones full of button mashers. Arena teams trying to get double as'es off - toons trying to KB and other desperately trying to build to be resistant.

The effort was to attract more people to pvp. If anyone thinks they accomplished that goal raise their hand.

It used to mean something when I could beat a blaster with my plant/thorns dom in sc...with sos.

i saw a note about them taking down test server...time was people would scream here. now..no one cares..RIP PVP.

reboot test all you want. no one uses it anymore.

TBH some ases seem much more interruptable - I have an lol nin blade stalker and my as seems to get interrupted by a fart in the wind.

Actually, according to Nvidia's site coh supports SLI.

I know it is not supported but it worked before i had to reinstall my win 7 (was beta to move to rc1 I had to re-install). I know there are people who have sli running and coh.

From what I understand - it's not the video card makers it's the way coh uses open gl.

You need to use the 185 drivers. the new 186 drivers cause this issue. Download the previous drivers and install them.

I bet we have better ios :P
