Black screen
When nVidia writes drivers that don't cause problems with the game.
ATI users have been waiting for ATI to write decent drivers that support the game correctly for some time now.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

You need to use the 185 drivers. the new 186 drivers cause this issue. Download the previous drivers and install them.
From what I understand - it's not the video card makers it's the way coh uses open gl.
Part of it is the also the lack of open gl support from the video card manufacturers.

You mean like this?

No, that is referring to OpenGL 3.0 which is a fairly new standard, much newer that the code that CoH was written on.
If CoH were a game being developed today, yes, I'd expect it to be written to use the current OpenGL 3.0 standard.
I believe the Cryptic Engine used by CoH was written to use the OpenGL 2.0 standard, which was current at the time. OpenGL 2.1 was released in August of 2006, which is a bit over 2 years after CoH was released.
OpenGL 3.0 was released in August of 2008. OpenGL 3.1 was released in March 2009, so apparently by your standards nVidia is behind.
So I'll continue to stand behind what I've been saying all along. The video card manufacturer's need to correctly write drivers that fully support Open GL. Not any particular version of OpenGL, just provide full Open GL support across all versions.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Anyone know of a link where I can download the older driver?? I'm getting the black screen as I just reformatted my computer and used the newest driver for my video card.
My card is a GeForce 7000 series. (Cant think of the exact model due to being at work)

What OS? 64-bit or 32-bit version of the OS?

Eh, already PM'd you the links earlier today.

Yes and COH works now! Thanks again TJ!

I had a problem using 64-bit Vista and the latest drivers for my NVidia GTX 260. I could hear the game but only got a black screen when using the latest drivers. I had to load old drivers which tech support linked me to. Would be nice to know when I could load the latest NVidia drivers.
