Quote:i'm sure his friend was just as relieved. I mean it becomes sort of funny. The idea of ending a TF with the rock attack is funny, but it seems rather mean to ruin all your friend's effort like that.
Just imagine, Praet Duray is confident he's invincible against the best attacks of the heroes, when all the of the sudden, the least expected thing takes him down, a concussion from a rock picked up off the ground, and the morale of the entire Praetorian army is shaken to the core.
Meanwhile, cole is killed by a rock in his shoe, by causing him to trip and stab himself on his fork of furies. -

I understand your pain, Jaz. I mean I understand the Devs want build up to our fight with Tyrant, but this is feeling a little stretched out, about the only plotline that was more stretched out was the "Return of the 5th Column", foreshadowed by issues 11, 12, and finally fully realized in 15 (with issues 13 and 14 being sort of a skip, given how they were mostly mechanics advancements), of course, in the case of 11, this return wasn't the entirety of the issue.
Thus far, we've had 3 issues dedicated to the Praetoria thing, and it seems more are planned in the chute, so sadly, even if it doesn't feel like the best thing, it's how it is and how it will be.
Edit: and I just remembered that issue 17 also alluded to the coming of Praetoria.
Admittedly, Arachnos kind of got 3 issues dedicated to them, counting City of Villains launch. -
Quote:Seems like a solid concept, my own suggestion for thugs customization, which might fall into Bouncers, would be Gansters, guys in fine suits and such who look like Family enforcers.I was toying around with ideas for MM pet customisation. Mainly thinking of alternate pet models, perhaps a bit of colour customisation. So these are a few I came up with.
Necro:
Zombies (default), Mummies, Skeletons (or slightly more rotten zombies, as the vomit attack has to come from somewhere)
Mercs:
Military (default), Agents.
Ninjas:
Ninjas (default), Sentai (for heroic MMs)
Robots:
Robots (default), Androids (humanoid robots akin to Cylons or Praetorian clockwork), Cyborgs (Terminator style endoskeletal bots).
Thugs:
Thugs (default), Bouncers (in suits), Clowns(?)
Demons:
Demons (default), Demon variants, Ghosts, Incorporeal essences (balls of fluff).
Thugs, Mercs and Ninjas could even have female versions of certain models.
What do you think? Any other ideas?
Also, I love the idea of the Sentai Ninja, but to expand on that, how about a ninja variant that uses things like the Tsoo outfits, a Yakuza type (more guys in suits!), and maybe even add a Middle Eastern model for Hassan Ibn Sabbah assassin types.
Mercs might also benifit from a sort of a SWAT/police officer look for more heroic types, or maybe villains who want to play having a very extensive security network. -
A lot of the examples you just gave are really really bad things to put into a PAID EXPANSION.
In video games, expansions are generally NOT supposed to involve altered core game play and are, generally, optional.
I don't think we're see any new paid expansions anytime soon, it's possible that the next one won't be an expansion so much as City of 2, but either way, it's all very doubtful. -
I know I shouldn't enjoy this, but this must be how Marauder feels when he nails multiple people in his Nova Fist because none of them actually listened to the warning on the screen.
The downside is that I probably just lost my dreams of future internship with Paragon Studios. *sighs* and not all of my ideas are that bad... Unless a Captain Nemo Strike force concept really is that bad. -
Quote:well you know what to do now, right? Go! The show must go on! (when reasonable).*opens her mouth to say something, sits with open mouth for a good ten seconds, then closes it again*
You know, all of a sudden, I don't feel so bad about my story. In fact, I feel downright optimistic.

Yeah, and be careful, the next one could be worse than that. My brain works on rapid fire process of elimination brainstorming, and my imagination makes me run through a gamut of insane, dumb, or weird ideas. -
don't forget the Mayor's office is secretly inside of it, along with the map to Statesman's lost gold.

Quote:"Stupid"? No. Trust me, I can tell everyone on this forum about stupid.*laughs*
I'll have to go back and rewatch that scene.(And yes, there's a PT video on my page - good catch!)
EDIT: BWAHAHAHAHA.
Duck: "Anyway, what's this gem called?"
Edel: "Hope."
Duck: "This one?"
Edel: "Adventure."
Duck: "And this one?"
Edel: "Mystery."
Duck: "Okaaaaayyy... what about this?"
Edel: "Author's bypass."
Duck: "Huh... strange name."
*sighs* And I know, I know. It's me being stupid.

Stupid is a (James Cameron's) Avater and Star Wars Crossover fic based around the idea that if a Na'vi Sith linked up to Eywah, it would turn all of Pandora into a planet of the Dark Side. -
Quote:Michelle, I admire and respect your attempts to stay close to canon as possible, but at some point, any fan fiction author will, eventually be forced to break from it.Coz til now, I've TRIED to keep it as close to canon as possible. The fact that he was so blatantly unattached made it easy to write (and Synapse is the same way).
I *was* amused, however, when I logged in to the Devs' Ustream thing, that Zwillinger KNEW what I was going to ask about, and said, "I can neither confirm nor deny what might be implied."
Thanks a lot, Zwill.

I believe you might recall a scene in Princess Tutu where Edel offers a jewel called 'Artistic License'? (at least I would assume you do since I recall a Princess tuTu music video on your page)
The simple point is that, no matter how well written, unless a series is over, it's impossible to remain 100% canon compliant. -

Quote:I'll play devil's advocate and say: A lot more work than either of us realize.18 pages...
I bet we will even hit more than 20 and we will still waiting to see a damn single NPC conversion.
I think they should release one booster montly, with no crappy powers, just the costume pieces, every single month for 4.99 dollas.
First month, Carnie pack, next one, Ouroboros pack... And so on.
Come on the pieces are already created. And we see they allow different colour in AE. Port them to be avalaible to players!
Just because the costume pieces 'exist on player-like models' don't mean they exist for player models. The major factor being the ability to make sure a costume piece scales with body size, a feat players can pull but NPCs cannot, their only model variations tend to be in height, and Council/Fifth Column aside, that difference tends to be fairly modest, this goes nothing to say about the NPCs that certainly do NOT use PC-like models.
Finally, releasing one booster on a monthly basis, might be a bit of a task, not to mention the price you're asking it for, and that goes both ways. If it's being released by villain groups... Congrats, you get to pay $4.99 for Ouroboros hips and shoulder strap one month... and that's it. Next month though, the Crey booster will give us enough costume pieces to constitute a regular booster, and Paragon studios will be the ones getting shafted that time. -

Quote:Well, actually a few demo edits have shown Tsoo and CoT long robes/skirts look fine with player animations. The real problem is that the Illusionist skirts lack both feet and actual leg joints at all, it's just one stiff cylinder. As for the Illusionist, while I do like that dress a lot, long robes and dresses apparently look completely horrid with a large chunk of the player animations we have, so we won't be getting them, ever, at all.
Quote:As for Mother Mayhem, Vanessa DeVore, Neuron, and Marauder, I can't speak for every player of this game but speaking for myself, I don't really like the idea of these great big important NPCs not being unique anymore. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I don't think Marauder should look like just another PC hero or villain, you know? Mender plates and Carnie sashes are one thing, but I wouldn't want to see loads of player characters running around with stuff that only exists on ONE NPC as their signature costume part. It kills things.
For example, the new Bobcat is... weak in appearance, she really does look like just about every other Catgirl PC out there, complete with maxed out boob slider and you really can replicate her easily in the costume editor. -

Since chicks dig giant robots, I think I'll contribute my own suggestions...
Longbow Arbalest Exo-Battle Armor: In light of the recent Praetorian invasions and the cost effectiveness of the Cataphract, Longbow has set out to create their own, mass produced war machine. Ultimately what the ended up with was an extremely large powered armor, but still packing quite a punch and able to topple even the biggest threats.
Malta Hyperion Class Titan: (Actually someone else's idea but it was a good one) Salvaged from stolen pieces of War Walkers and HVAS, it's smaller than a Kronos, but bigger than a Zeus, it's far more cost effective than both and devastatingly lethal.
Clockwork King (Special): By gaining a measure of his sanity back, the Clockwork king has created this massive new body, salvaged from anything and everything he could find to protect his Clockwork Princess from the Praetorian threat.
Mu Golem: Using ancient manuscripts, the Mu have constructed this massive golem, propelled by advanced mechanical knowledge of the gods and moved by their hatred of Oranbega, this techno-magical monstrosity will let nothing move it from its path of carnage.
Paragon Protector Powerhouse: These specially designated Paragon protectors operate the unstoppable Crey Powerhouse "Hazmat" armor, designed to protect its wearer from any potential hazard in the lab. like flying bullets or high powered explosives. -
Quote:This is part of why I support the Clockwork king and Penny ship.Oh, hell - go one better than that. All the information exists in-canon to:
a) genetically re-engineer a body, INCLUDING its original powers
b) transfer a soul from one host to another (including said genetically re-engineered body), or
c) bind a soul to a body
It's not that hard to imagine that someone as smart as Posi (especially with enough incentive) would put all the pieces together and VOILA, new body for Numina.

Hell, together, as two psychics, they might powerful enough to literally just make a body for him from nothing but psionic energy. (Meanwhile, lots of other people i know talk about how, even if his insanity was cured, he'd be a brain in a jar forever.) -
And admittedly, Numina might be an interesting pair for him, opposites but not quite, they're both rational people, but in different ways, plus, Positron's not the kind of scientist to dismiss magic, he even seems the kind to be fascinated by it and want to learn more to be able to factor in better.

There seem to be good points on both sides and I feel this conversation/debate would best be continued, even if nothing ultimately comes of it.
Personally, I have little to no stake in this and can't form a real opinion. My ice/dark corr is teamed nine out of ten times with vicious scrap-dom, and since tar patch and ice storm are both big parts of the combo, the end result is that by the time I fire off blizzard, it's to mop up what's not dead, and what's not dead is going to take take about 3200+ points of damage between scourge and a painful res debuff. BEAT THAT JUDGEMENT!
The only other one of my toons that uses a crashing nuke is my emp/energy defender, so hitting nova on her is more of a cheap joke to gank a kill from the actual damage dealers that we all tend to laugh about, double points if she fails to kill them anyway, even after swallowing a bunch of reds (And despite this, she still has landed the finishing blow on more AVs than nearly all of my damage dealer toons combined) or if she's able to keep going anyway because her RA +Recovery is just that stupidly crazy.
Otherwise the rest of my toons with nukes generally use the crashless sort. -
You know, GG, I gotta be honest... You're Emperor Cole ain't so great, he looks a bit more like Julius Caesar. you might wanna consider bulking him out a bit and squaring his head/face for a more 'heroic' look, and not pressing his hair so flat. I know its unbearable, but consider studying the statue of Cole closely or ask around for screenshots of Cole himself in the loyalist arcs. Or even just see about studying Statesman or Rechsman's face closely.
Sorry to rail about this, I know you probably put hours, even days or weeks of work into that model, but you really need to know that that's not the face of the Resistance and Primal earth's enemy... It looks more like a face you shout: "I AM SPARTACUS!" to. -
I doubt it, GG. Namely because Numina might be a spirit and her husband might be an oracular skull, but they are both still married to my understanding.

Sam seems to have hit the nail on the head pretty well. I think the closest thing to an insult about us being human I've ever heard from the Rikti is the comment on our sentence causality, and that's it.
On the otherhand, we don't get as much a chance to interact with Traditionalists as I'd like, I still hope for when the game story progresses far enough that the traditionalists and restructurists division becomes common knowledge, and then we can see traditionalists coming by in our world, or hanging out at places like Pocket D, I mean just imagine it...
Rikti Raver: "A little dance: Doing
A little love: Making
Tonight: GETTING DOWN!" -
Randomly, one I just remembered I had actually brainstormed in my head for awhile went like this: A first person shooter with role playing game elements along the lines of Bioshock 2 crossed with Deus Ex themes, and it would be...
Going Rogue: The Praetorian Revolution
You play a fairly standard PPD beat cop in the beginning, but as you delve deeper into Praetoria's underbelly, you realize that the only one you really can trust is yourself... But even that's a leap of faith... -
Quote:I know what you mean, but personally, I still would like to see us get access to more than just two powersets, and for pool powers, APPs/PPPs, and epic powersets* to be opened up, but not just for custom bosses and AVs, but all critters./unsigned.
People have trouble making balanced enemies with *two* powersets. Giving them no limits? Ugh. "Here's my shield/willpower illusion controller mastermind with radiation!"
Just... no.
and this right here should just scream out "This is a bad idea." You're not "out to get" the players, unless you're also out to get few plays and a low rating. Work instead on making an enjoyable arc that makes people want to play it. That doesn't mean it can't have tough enemies, but "I want to make this impossible!" is not exactly a noble goal.
As pointed out Bill, sometimes it's not about trying to powergame them, but sometimes to do justice to a concept, for my own case, it's actually because I think more than two powersets would allow for greater balance as well. for example, I might be able to have my level 25 Lt. that just uses a machine with an underslung 'nade launcher to do just those things and not need to dip into them having annoying mezzes or cheating with caltrops to get the 100% EXP.
*Oh, and proper stalker sets which have AS, placate, and hide in the case of the armors, devices that has the cloaking device, and traps set. -
Quote:Yeah, it's one of those dichotomies. There is a reason why they are Traditionalist. A Traditionalist is more likely to cure a converted Lost instead of bringing them into the fold. There might certain situations like the Lost prefers to be Rikti, but has to pass the Rikti Citizenship Test to be a full Rikti. Restructurists are more likely to see converted Lost as Cannon Fodder.
The traditionalists could ultimately be seen as 'nicer' if only because they probably don't want to kidnap homeless people in the first place to fuel their war making abilities.
