I can see that us MMs could argue day and night over what powers are "expendable".
I'd personally say I'd give up one of the attack powers, but another person might think I'm crazy for suggesting such a thing.

And this is another point of where people opinions differ.
I see an MM being more like "Damn you! You may have defeated my men, but I have legions to replace them... Just you wait!"

My main problem with this idea is that I didn't pick an MM because I want to take on enemies myself.
I want to send my loyal legions to rip apart anything that stands in my path.
If I wanted to get my hands dirty, I'd be playing a different AT...

While we're on the topic of absurd ideas...
I wish I had a power that allowed me to sacrifice my T2 and T1 pets to in order to summon an EB. (Until this happens, I'll just continue to use Shivans and be stupidly powerful, even with my terrible build.)

Hey, I think you were standing next to me in the vault during judging!

I'll start off by saying it was a great joy to see so many well designed costumes. It's really only during these larger costume contests that I see a good amount of people trying their hardest to look their best.

I'd also like to say, good job on handling the overcrowding of D1. I was wondering how that was going to work out, but seeing as I was able to get back in after I D/Ced (stupid D/C) without having to sit by a portal and keep checking if a space opened up, I'd say it went decently enough.

As for the whole "no powers" issue, it shouldn't be to hard to add sentence or two saying "Powers and pets are not allowed for X reason" next year on in the announcement posts. For people who see this and plan ahead, it should be helpful.
Of course, there will always be the walk-ins and for them, I'd say it's one of those "tough luck" situations. But hey, that's the nature of being a walk in.

Personally, from what I saw (most of the event, except for about half the male hero judging when I D/Ced...) things ran fairly smoothly.
Then again, I used to work for the federal government, so almost anything runs smoother than they do...
  4. Azurakna

    Hero MM?

I feel like they should add an AT as unique as MMs for heros (impractical, I know, but still).

Ah, you need it to be "petcom_name bruiser" not "petcombruiser".

I've got 4 arms on that backpack and when firing at a single target it's always the same arm that fires. Both grenades come from the same arm so even the AoE opening is the same animation twice straight after each other.

It's not the damage that stopped me playing my crab, it was the constant niggling thought that it could look so much better if I'd just had all my legs wired up properly.
    Ah yes...

Step 1: Grenade animation, hidden by my bulk.
Step 2: Grenade animation, hidden by my bulk.
Step 3: Awkward squat attack go!
Step 4+: Lean and fire with your only working leg!

    It is slightly annoying.
  7. My opinion: TT:M is what allows my Lvl. 30 Crab to run up to a mob, fire off all my AoEs and survive the following retaliation, usually with flying colors, or if I'm unlucky, with enough health to drop back and heal.
It's what allows my Bane to wade into a 0/8 crowd and only loose a quarter of his health without using inspirations.
And consider the fact that this is the first time I've ever played a Spider (Heck, I'm still in the first month of my CoX "life") and am probably not using the right tactics. If it can keep me alive, despite my inexperience, I'd say it's highly beneficial.

You don't seem to have the right point of view to understand this.
    Here's mine:
When I first saw "Tactical Training: Maneuvers", it just looked like they stuck a fancy title on "Leadership: Maneuvers" in order to keep it from looking like they just copy and pasted the power.
So I assumed it was the same thing.
You see, I'm not a numbers and stats person (I'm a right brained person with ADD, so that's a given), so I often don't check the info because I find it boring and/or confusing. Luckily, since I'm fairly intelligent, I checked the forums on SoA builds and read the praise of TT:M.

If you're like me and "tl;dr":
Newbie says "TT:M keeps me alive" and "The names are similar enough to be confusing".

STAMINA! I always get that, even when I might not even need it like in a Regen Scrapper with it's built in Quick Recovery.
It's definitely useful for Therm, which, as you might imagine, is a bit of a End hog. Usually it's the heals that are draining.

Stamina always comes in useful at the start of a mish though, when raising and upgrading zombies.
Is it me, or do zombies upgrades "cost" more than other pet upgrades?
  9. So I completed the Arc to get the power pool today and was able to respec afterward.

    Powers I dropped:
-TP powers (Probably will pick up TP friend again)
-Hover (Was meant to complement TP)
-Forge and Thaw (I know they're useful, but I honestly never remember to use them)
    -And, of course, Gloom.

In their place I have picked up:
    -Soul Extraction
-Swift, Health, Stamina (Oh boy, does Stamina make a difference!)
    -Assault and Tactics
-Hasten and Super Speed (Almost considered using Swift+Ninja Run as a travel power, but naaaah)
-Nightfall from the Soul Mastery Epic Pool (Part of that choice was thematic, as I RP)

First thing, I went out and got some SOs and IO to fill the gaps I had due to the new power selections and then I went off to test it.
At first, I didn't notice anything all that different besides quicker End recovery and other such obvious stuff.
My zombies weren't kill anything at a faster rate.
So I double-checked that the Leadership abilities were on. They were.
However, I then realized that I had forgotten to Enchant and Empower my pets...

So they were killing stuff just as well as they previously had, except without being upgraded.
Once I did so, everything was gravy.

Thank you guys for the great advice and pointing me in the right direction.

That's really only good if you have ranged pets.

The only way I can keep GKs at a range are:
    a) They're out of attack range
    b) I want them to melee...

I wouldn't mind a decent "Last Ditch" attack for when my pets get killed off and it's not feasible to run away.

Pet names don't bother me, and occasionally help me. Still, I'm never opposed to having more options available.

I like the idea somebody I was talking to last night proposed. The ability to toggle which powers your pet use.
I wholeheartedly agree with that, as I would love for my Grave Knights to stop pretending their snipers and actually use the giant-*** swords they have.
But it'd also be useful for instances like when I was fight Deathsurge last night.
My GKs would get killed every minute or so because they'd go into melee and DS would do his thing, killing everything that wasn't a Brute if it was next to him. That's on of those times where I'd actually like for them to play sniper...

It actually was useful when I was in my 20s and 30s, I could easily and safely thin out the ranks of a group that might have otherwise taken my butt to town. Now though, it's useless.

    Quote:
If you made it to level 30 w/o hover on top of TP you might not need hover, but I would probably fit it in, too.
You right in that I probably don't need hover, but it's just one of those luxuries I enjoy.

    Quote:
Pick up Tactics. Your minions crave enhancing for features besides extra accuracy/damage (heal, tohitdebuff, defense debuff.)
    That is an superb idea.

    Quote:
You definitely need heat exhaustion and melt armor instead of team teleport. If you really fancy using team teleport, you can probably fit it in before level 32.
I've played around with some TP Team tactics, but they're really just a novelty. The only real use I found for it is when a team starts to get wiped, I can TP everyone the heck out of there, but that doesn't happen all that often.

Also, I'd say that Hover isn't really needed unless you have an especially bad computer, unless you just like the effect it has. :P
Yeah, TP Foe is going. There's no real point in having it. Same with Team TP. They're both more or less novelties and the result of my inexperience.
As for Hover, like I said earlier in this post, it's a luxury that I'll be keeping.

    Quote:
If you're having any endurance problems then you may want to pick up Stamina, especially if you're considering adding the Tactics toggle to boost your pets' accuracy.
Yeah, those are both on my list of "Wants" now that I know what they do.

    Quote:
I would skip Gloom and pick your first shield at level 2, so you can grab your pet upgrade at level 6. Gloom is a nice attack, but your pets can do a whole lot more damage. I'd just as soon skip it altogether, or get it later in the game.
    Yep. Gloom goes.

    Quote:
Hasten is always a nice choice, if you can fit it in. Your pet summons, heals, and debuffs will recharge faster as long as it's active.
I like the sound of that. Seems like it'd be useful when the @!#$ hits the fan.

Be thinking about which patron pool you want to use, and make sure to unlock your patrons before respeccing. That way you can use a patron pool for your level 41 slot and beyond.
I'm unfamiliar with patron pools. It looks like I'll have to do some research about them.

My build grabbed Melt Armor and Heat Exhaustion as soon as they unlocked, and I never regretting getting them when I did. They're great for making weakening or rendering ineffective many extremely irritating enemies.
I lessthanthree Melt Armor and Heat Exhaustion. Nothing nicer than seeing an EB go down like a regular boss.

I'd basically feel that there's some powers I never use (*cough*gloom*cough*) and that I could be more powerful if I had a better idea of what I should be doing and had better power choices. I'm here for the general advice as much as the specific build advice.

Thank you guys for the warm welcome and the help I've already gotten from your posts.
  14. So I'm fairly new to CoX (and MMOs in general for that matter) and I'm looking for a little help with my favorite MM (who goes by the same name as I do).
She has recently hit 40, and I find myself looking to the future, specifically a much needed respec. As one might guess, being my first toon, not all of my choices in powers were well chosen.
And so I come to you for guidance.

    The facts:
    - Necro/Therm
    - I prefer being a support player in a team, (I find myself often acting as a primary healer. Sometimes even if there's a Pain Corr around...)
    - I'm not looking to solo EBs or go PvP. At least not until I lrn2play more.

(Note: Please be patient, I may not understand all the terms you use, especially if it's abbreviated)

    P.S.
Despite how messed up my build is, I'm surprised at just how powerful I still am.
