Quote:To reinforce this, Ricodah posted a video of his 350 DPS StJ pylon run. His CU didn't crit half of the time(due to ATO proc misshap), he didn't have Water Spout, and he didn't post his build so we don't know if he's missing out on some damage bonuses or procs. My apologies. I forgot Auroxis is known for making err- wait. You know better than to say someone else is wrong just because they didn't post a video on it. If Auroxis says his StJ build is 450 Theoretical if he doesn't miss Crushing Uppercuts, and is at least 400 DPS in a worse-case scenario, you can't deny that unless you can prove otherwise because pylons are simple math tests. And yes, that's 450 DPS In a perfect scenario where Crushing Uppercut and Assassin's Strike aren't being picky. Which is why its 420 with margin for error, and 400 if everything keeps going wrong, last I checked.
Ask Auroxis yourself.
Your response?
And I STILL think StJ is fine. I played StJ(up to mid-40's) on a stalker. I know what it's capable of. And its AoE simply isn't good enough to make the powerset that much better than others. -
-
Quote:So what if they have the AoE's? They don't have the same damage modifiers. That argument fails with recent power creep sets like Kinetic Melee, Street Justice, and soon Staff Fighting. KM lost it's worst AoE nobody cares about and has an auto crit, StJ kept BOTH AoEs, and Staff is only losing it's really bad AoE.
This doesn't 'balance out', and Assassin's Strike WILL be normalized. That's a fact. I'm simply saying it's far too powerful right now until they're all normalized. It won't change much, but it will be a nerf to Kinetic Melee. Which.. doesn't honestly need it.
StJ does need a flat nerf on Stalkers. Best way to do that? Lower the base damage of Crushing Uppercut, Spinning Strike, and Sweeping Cross, put that damage into the Combo Damage metric. AKA; they crit for less, but still do the same non-critical damage.
Easy enough fix.
And if some powersets do slightly better on stalkers overall, so be it. If SS/FA brutes have gone unnoticed for so long, so can Elec and StJ stalkers. -
-
Quote:LOL yeah I meant JL, silly acronyms. It'd be pretty scary to have JB as part of your attack chain, I think you mean JL. Sometimes I run CB-JL-CB-AS-CI even though I can run CB-JL-AS-CI gaplessly because it's more likely to generate assassin's focus, it costs a lot less endurance per second, and I put the hecatomb proc into CB for precisely that reason.
-
Quote:AS-CI-JL-CBWhat's the ST chain for ElM assuming good slotting etc which procs would you slot where?
AS with Stalkers Guile and a regular PPM proc(Mako's is nice).
CI with Hecatomb and a regular PPM proc.
JL with Armageddon and the pvp -res proc.
CB with whatever, it can get away with slotting 3 procs but they won't be PPM. Personally I went for 4 slots, 3 Makos(+5) and one Mako proc. I could try to squeeze in a couple extra slots but I don't care about ST DPS that much. -
Quote:Inv/SS is nice, but I'd hardly call it self-sufficient as Inv has no way to deal with SS's endurance woes(which is why people take either Cardiac or Energy Mastery with Inv).My vote is for Inv/SS.
A nice, self-sufficient set that can be made RIDICULOUSLY tough.
Elec/SS is more like it. Extra damage for your aura, endurance management to complement SS, and something to do while you rage crash with Power Sink. -
-
Damn impressive, might have to try that.
-
Blinding Powder is awesome, simply because it can fit the delicious confuse purple set.
-
StJ ranks first in terms of ST damage, but all stalkers have strong ST DPS now due to how Assassin's Focus and Stalker's Guile work.
-
WP/TW is a very nice combo. Lots of synergy with TW's KB and AoE complementing WP's powerful regen and low aggro.
-
Quote:A cone also means it can fit an Armageddon proc and a PVP -res proc.Havoc punch is the same as jacob's ladder for DPA, yet jacob's ladder is a cone. That's pretty much case closed on that topic. Charged brawl is better DPA than either. Really though, you want both of them to be prominent in your chain as CB's fast damage is lovely while JL's cone-ness will be handy more often than you might expect. Just diving into groups and letting 'em have it will cause things to stack up for a bit of aoe more often than not.
-
You should take both. Did you make the common mistake of thinking Havoc Punch is a good attack?

Quote:Whatever endurance problems Nin has can be taken care of with Ageless, but that is far down the road and isn't available while exemping.Way back when this game first came out, I rolled a stalker. And after maybe...the third stalker, I thought, "Whelp, I'm done."
But after these changes I'm very much so interested in playing again.
For thematic purposes, Street Justice fits my character best.
However, I'm stuck deciding on a secondary.
I considered Nin, because it's awesome. However there IS the issue of endurance, and I also wonder, when it comes to being IOed, how does Nin hold up? -
About time someone did it, I've been telling people to use all they have on this mothership challenge instead of whining about lore pets in the pylon thread.
Well done sir, hopefully you are the first of many. -
-
Empathy still has RA's for leagues, and while Fort and AB lose a bit of their shine, they're still awesome powers if used wisely.
As for incarnate slots themselves, Destiny hit all buffers pretty hard. However, damage dealers were hit just as hard by Lore, Interface, and Judgement. -
-
Quote:Don't forget that BU has activation time, and +80% gets watered down with Musculature and +damage from set bonuses and Assault.I was hitting over 200 DPS with KM without any +DMG Alpha or Interface Proc damage, and that wasn't witht he best attack chain either.
I'd guess with BU becoming an almost constant +80% damage increase, it'd put KM ahead. It can't slot -Resist Procs, but it's not purely smashing damage either. -
With the recent stalker changes making every stalker a single target specialist, I decided to take a closer look at what the good old Elec/Nin stalker is capable of. I was amazed to find out how overpowered the build came out, so I had to share it.
Some stuff I took into consideration while making this build:
- I tried to take full advantages of the SBE procs to get a great attack chain (which I calculated to be at about 400 DPS)
- I didn't want to get an incarnate softcap at first, but the opportunity presented itself and it came out wonderfully.
- I aimed for the top new attack chain, CI-JL-CB-AS.
- I aimed for endurance stability and perma hasten with the help of Ageless.
- I aimed for a lot of damage bonuses from IO's.
All in all it's a pretty crazy character. It can obliterate most of the spawn with BU+LR+SA, then choose to either land an AS or a TS from hide, and decimate whatever is left with a powerful attack chain(which even contributes -res to the team). All the while having incarnate softcapped Melee and Ranged defenses, and a fast recharging self heal at its disposal. The only downside is its price.

According to my calculations StJ is significantly ahead of KM, primarily due to the fact that KM can't fit any -res procs.
-
Quote:This is assuming you don't gain anything from recharge past perma-hasten, which isn't really true. And I didn't even think about Agility, Musculature is the only way to go IMO.Good points. However, SR can hit Incarnate softcap without Agility which leaves room for Musculature, at the cost of 3-5 seconds off of perma-hasten. At 59% defense and perma-hasten, the only benefit EA really draws from Ageless is the +DDR, which brings it up to almost SR's level in that field.
Quote:As far as EA having more offense from ancillary picks, SR can just take Spring Attack. The ancillary ST blasts are hardly worth it and there's usually not enough slotting to have both Spring Attack and an ancillary AoE attack. EA will have the option between the two but it's hardly an offensive advantage.
Not much disparity in offensive potential between SR and EA, really. -
Quote:Energy Drain stacks with itself(except for the first target which grants the most defense), and can be used twice in one duration, so you can get there without any special tricks. Granted you won't be there constantly, but if you want EA to put you at the incarnate softcap with one application, you can do it with IO's(which has become easier now with Stalker's Guile and the PVP +3% def IO becoming cheaper).Energy Drain will help with reaching the Incarnate softcap but you still have to work for it. A fully slotted Energy Drain + Agility T4 will give you 7.78% defense after hitting 10 mobs. Not enough for most Incarnate situations, even if you're sitting at 45% defense already. Personally, I just went straight for the Incarnate softcap with IOs. Energy Drain in my build is just a mule for LoTG and there for endurance emergencies.
Quote:No clue where you got the idea of EA having the strongest offensive capabilities. SR and ElA get the same 20% recharge bonus if that's what you're talking about. Defensive maybe? Even then, it's arguable.
ElA has to get defense bonuses from IO's to catch up with EA, so it can't afford to get as many recharge and damage bonuses from IO's like EA can. Defensively, ElA has resistances to fall back on which EA doesn't, which means that after getting a lot of defense IO's, its defense is superior. It also has solid protection against psi.
So while both SR and ElA have a +rech power just like EA, they don't share the same offensive potential, but make up for it with better defensive potential. -
This. EA is fantastic.
A +rech power, a defense cushion power(you can reach the incarnate softcap with it), endurance management, and a self heal?
Sure it has a psi weakness, but in terms of offensive capabilities it beats all secondaries.
