  1. The second I saw that Time Manipulation animation, the Time Warp song started playing in my head.

It's one of the reasons why Kinetic Melee is great on Tankers.
  3. The thing is that KM is terribly outclassed by SS on brutes. Same damage type, superior self buff mechanic, and superior attacks. Unless you're after the damage debuff (in which case you'll be better off as a tanker), there's really no reason to go KM on a brute besides concept reasons.

On scrappers, KM is the best smashing type primary available(sorry MA) at least until Street Justice arrives. It also has great synergy with FA due to Power Siphon, even with the fear component of Burn.

Edit: Second best to DM, depending on how many enemies you have around you.
  4. Dark Armor would work, seeing as it's got a ton of psionic resistance, has some control powers, and can be colored.

Are Rikti Pylons considered to be a greater challenge than AVs?
I skipped it, basically. The time it takes to down a Rikti Pylon is used as a metric for your DPS, so I felt it would be best to go for a Pylon instead of hunting for AV's.

A purple inspiration gives +12.5% defense. Positional defenses all at 32.5% means that getting S/L/N/E/F/C defense to 32.5% as well is pointless.

Adrenalin Boost and Fortitude are incredible on Lore pets, I have no doubt a good Empath could do it.

I mean, if I can down a Rikti Pylon in 1:20(see video in sig), AV's should be easy.
  10. Agreed with the above. Also, there's an Elec/Elec softcapped build I have saved that might be of interest:

You do not need 3 purple inspirations to softcap with that build, you need just one if your defense is at 32.5%.

Add in Musculature and should put out some nice damage
You can actually squeeze a bit more into that if you take Kick instead of Boxing, put Explosive Strike into Kick and Mako's into Brawl. You'll need a spare slot for that, I'd probably go for the one in Lucky.

The point is to have all positionals softcapped with either one purple insp or the -ToHit powers from Soul Mastery. If all I wanted was S/L defense I could have fit a lot more recharge into the build than you have, or softcap E/N defense as well.

I personally find it easier to post a build than to give advice, especially if I have a build saved and the build in the OP is really bad.

That depends on the build, but comparing the softcapped builds I have, the damage aura ends up contributing twice as much DPS reactive considered.

SR is still softcapped to everything(besides psi) instead of just S/L which helps a lot in certain situations, while Elec Armor has an easier time picking up powers like Water Spout and Ageless due to its self heal and endurance management.

Unless you can literally show that you can do this across the board with primaries that both SR & SD can use.
Let me correct my phrasing then:

All this adds up to more DPS potential with SR than with SD, if only one target is in range.

I simply cannot agree that having no access to Katana and DB shouldn't be considered when comparing the DPS potential of SR and SD.

    Quote:
On the other hand, SD has SR beat by a mile in AoE.

It has SC for one, and for another SR will not have parity with AAO in an AoE situation, which by definition means you have target saturation.
This is definitely true, though I've grown to appreciate DB's AoE with Sweeping Strike(which is damn handy during the hostages stage in the BAF trial).

    1. SD can't use Katana and DB, the best DPS primaries besides a well saturated DM.

    2. SR has extra recharge, which means either more DPS with Dual Blades or room for a bit more damage bonuses from IO sets.

    3. SR is easier to softcap, which means you can get a bit more damage bonuses from IO sets.

All this adds up to more DPS with SR than with SD, if only one target is in range.

Now, endurance use has climbed a bit and accuracy has gone down, but for the sake of argument, we'll say it's good enough.

Any other suggestions? Katana or Dual Blades.

I will point out that I was not trying to make the ultimate builds here, but rather to compare top end damage with very similar builds. The Gaussian move seems in the spirit of the thing. But then, at this point, the Gaussian set is probably a poor use of slots, so we should do something else, but then I'm straying further and further from the template, so I'm not sure I should go further. I'm sure we could do similar optimizations on Katana if we're straying from template, though picking up a similar damage boost might be difficult. Or maybe it wouldn't be. I think I only picked up about a 7.5% damage enhancement with the Gaussian proc, and on a set already highly damage enhanced. Katana is less damage enhanced, so a couple more damage bonuses might do the trick, and we have a ton of recharge to trade. But trading that recharge isn't really in the spirit of what I was doing.

For that matter, adding incarnate powers will kind of invalidate my whole analysis. Since at the high end we'd be taking incarnate powers, these builds and analysis are really yesterday's news. We should really build some modern builds to compare. That's not really something I'm chomping at the bit to do, though.
I think the Gaussian's proc belongs in Tactics, but having 1 proc in Blinding Feint while having 2 procs in Soaring Dragon is wrong. Also, you have the purple Damage enhancement over the Damage/Recharge one in Golden Dragonfly, but you didn't do the same for Sweeping Strike. I think you should take Musculature into account anyway.

The shorter activation time for the DB chain also helps in terms of -res stacking and Reactive. As for Blinding Feint not lasting long enough, that's not the case with enough recharge.

Well, and another problem is that crazy pylon soloers are going to be using saturated AAO and soul drain unenhanced for damage to absolutely maximize their times. Those are very specific conditions for DPS evaluation.
SR can easily pull ahead of SD if you take away AAO saturation.

As for that DPS list ghost posted, it isn't very representative of actual DPS potential. Katana being better than Dual Blades?

Soul Mastery, with its goody -ToHit, could mean you'll need to use one inspiration instead of two.
