Quote:Sounds like a good addition. The only one that comes to mind, and probably not popular, is a limit/cool down timer.
As I understand it, one of the reasons for a limit of 10 in a respec is to act as an inf sink. I could see someone using this to get around that sink by stacking up on these IOs and using them to replace a number of sets. They could easily do the same with multiple respecs. Will it have any impact overall? No idea and don't really want a timer either, but just tossing it out since it is being asked for discussion.
So if there was a limit of say 6 (the max slotting for one power) IO set with a time between (24 hr/1 wk?) between the 6 uses. This idea would be great to replace one set for a power already slotted and not hassle with the full respec process. -
Quote:That IS the greatest objection to it.So at 50 I would be able spend 50 some odd million inf and safely remove every enhancement I have slotted without the need of a respec.
As much as I'd like it, I don't see the devs going for it when they stand by so firmly on keeping us locked into our enhancements.
I'm not married to the costs though.
IF (!!!!) they decided to change that stance, what do you think would be the best costs for it at 50, Bill? (or any other level)
Also not opposed to a type of cool down on use. -

Quote:THIS and the six year old thread.
Any post in the Stalker boards that led to an argument between Angry Citizen and TOTALITY.
I wish these threads were still available for viewing.
EDIT: Also the thread where BaB was like "Castle you %^&*(!!!!!!!!", for Castle spilling the beans on what BaB was working on at the time. Fuzzy memory on that one. -
Cool. If anyone can think of any problems or objections please post them.
It's the best way to refine a suggestion.
Having said that I've also pm'd 4 of the devs about it.(Not saying which ones, in case they want to respond in PMs).

Liked the powers and costumes.
The stuff that dropped recipes and prestige might be a non-starter for the devs, but they sound nifty. (See what I did there?"nifty")

My suggestion: The "Zero" IO or "Black Hole" IO. (Call it whatever the hell you want).
What is it and how would it work?
1. It is a recipe that can be bought at wents or the stores. And I mean bought like the teleport power at wents. It doesn't drop. The price is frozen and scales as such: (not set in stone)
@ lvl 1-20 it's 400,000 inf
@ lvl 21-30 it's 750,000 inf
@ lvl 31-40 it's 950,000 inf
@ lvl 41-50 it's 1,000,000 inf. Each additional time you buy it at lvl 50 after the first 5 times (at 50) the price gets 500,000 added to it until it hits the permanent price of 3,000,000 to purchase.
@ incarnate level 1, the price is 3,000,000, and stays at that price.
Inf sink possibilities, obviously. Further inf sink possibilities.
How it works is that when the person crafts it, it creates
The salvage required would all be cheap (ANY 6-8 white salvage of ANY level), the crafting cost would scale at 1/3 the price of everything posted above until it hit the final permanent crafting cost of 1/3 of 3,000,000.
As you can't trade it, it's bind on creation. The resulting IO would be stuck in your tray. (They could increase the tray to 20 if necessary, but not required)
What does it do? The IO allows you to zero out or black hole out one slotted IO. The slotted IO would jump to your tray, while the slot it was in was once again open, and the Zero/Black Hole IO would then vanish.
What do you all think? -

Quote:Then you might as well quit now.Well I will say at the minute the game is fine now only the 'hardcore' farmers are in the MA building, MA was an addon but it was becoming the entire game.
Whats the point of having 17 issues worth of content and pve stuff if people are only going to play one badly managed issue?
If i17 brings back farming to the extent it was before, theres my sub gone. Found a link that pretty much sums up my thoughts about AE....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btEpF334Rtc
Farming general will always happen.
With GR and part of issue 17 it should die down or a bit as we'll get actual new STORY CONTENT to play through. -
Captain and Eva made the point I was trying to get at.
The other solutions for fixing MA are good ones. -

Quote:Which is why when merits were being announced, MANY in the market forum suggested strongly that merits be put ON TOP of the existing reward table. However, in the sense of the time it took to earn those merits, would NT have been better off under a TF with a random roll system? Would he have earned more than 33 rewards?
Obviously he would have actually collected the rewards, rather than have them just sitting there, so there is that...
With Quick Katie (and other speed tfs) in existence at the time that was a no go for the devs.
EDIT: My first sentence means the OPTION of taking a random roll worth of merits, or rolling automatically via the old reward table. -
Quote:LOL learn to read. I said pvp IOs in general. I didn't make an distinction. So since you missed that distinction, you probably missed the overall point about it being unwise to use one of the rarest items in the game as a barameter of market health, on either side.PVP Hold IOs are not as expensive as you think. 4 pieces were 50 mill, 1 was 100, and 1 was 200.
LOL
PVP IOs IN GENERAL are priced high because they are so freaking rare. -
And yet pvp IOs in general are more expenseive than any other item.
I wouldn't judge the health of either market based on something that's ultra rare and priced near the inf cap regularly.

Quote:Yep.The Devs know who PvPs and how often. Ditto Mission Architect (and which missions they play). Badging is a little more sketchy, but the basica numbers are there to analyze.
I don't think the problem is that the Devs are under or overestimating the percentage of the populace that PvPs.
I think that after I13, they are rightfully taking their time to consider options, possible solutions and consequences before braving the minefield that is PvP changes again.
I wasn't saying the devs were the ones under or overestimating the pvp pop. I was talking about the OP. -

Just want folks to keep in mind that if they did reverse themselves, and decided to do a merger, there is no way in hell it'd be here with GR or even issue 19.
The announced Incarnate system (and all the work probably involved with making sure the first "true" endgame system of the game isn't full of fail) pretty much put a nail in the coffin for the idea of getting a merger anytime soon. With GR releasing in JULY, and issue 19 coming after it being focused on including more content for GR, and the devs probably wanting more data mining data to see what ACTUAL EFFECT GR has on the game, I'd say pretty much any chance of a merger is dead for this year.
Unless of course a miracle happens and they hire 75 new people before July. In this economy.

Right.
EDIT: Not trying to bring the "dooooooooOOOooom". Just keeping the discussion realistic. -
Quote:I thought this state came about every time the devs fail to address the pvp wish list . . . cause we know the world ends if pvp is ignored. The game enters a quantum state of being "doomed" to fail every time the devs release a new update!
Just read the forums for 5 minutes, it's true!
Same as bases and the MA.
