  2. The only server unavailable to Free and Premium players is Exalted, which is a new server that came with Freedom's launch, so you can't have had old characters on it.

Incidentally, there seems to be some issues surrounding returning players getting their subscription state changed properly. Send a petition for GM assistance.

The attuned Karma -KB and Steadfast -KB you can buy on the Paragon Market work even if you don't have the IO license. They're 125pp each (about a dollar fifty).

Heck, even my *main* isn't all IO'd out. She still has most of her build filled with pre-i9 Hamidon enhancements. What few common IOs she has could easily be replaced with SOs for basically the same performance. The only special IO she has is the Zephyr -KB, and I can pay 100pp for an attuned Karma -KB that would still function outside of the Invention System License.

You can buy 400pp for $5 and get IOs for two months, with some pp left over. Are you really that up in arms about $5 every other month? Plus every 1200pp you buy gets you a reward token.

Alternately you can buy 1320pp for $15 and get IOs for eight months and some change. That's the same as subscribing for one month, plus it gets you a reward token.
  6. They can post in Player Questions and Technical Issues for sure, possibly other subforums (?). They can only make new threads and reply in threads they made, they can't reply to others' (this is really a dumb choice). They can't send or receive PMs. They can't have an avatar or signature.

    That is... very strange.
LFG is a system channel, not a chat channel. It is only used for the LFG system to announce things.

Between DfB and iTrials, there is a WEALTH of content to experience in the typical way - by building a team and making sure it works before attempting something. That is how you learn how to pre-form something, which introduces the fashion that iTrials are joined.

I honestly am completely baffled that you're against using a system as designed for low level content that is extremely forgiving to group makeup.

It might be a specific version of Firefox issue, because I am on FF3.6 and have it. (I haven't upgraded FF because I hate the new layout they've got. )
  10. Premium accounts are labeled free in the master account. Since they technically are. There are two subscription states: free and VIP. There are two free states: free and premium. The easiest way to tell whether they are free or not is Reward Tokens; if they have 2 or more tokens, they are Premium.
  11. You are supposed to get your "stuff" when you "purchase" a month (even if you're on a multi-month sub, your purchase date is the same on all your non-billing months).

So your October stuff should show up on October 10.

Now whether it actually happens that way remains to be seen. We haven't yet seen a "real" Freedom month yet (since part of September was beta, part was headstart, and part was official launch).

NCsoft has had partial interest (we've never been privy to how much) in City since it launched in 2004. NCsoft purchased Cryptic's half of City in Nov 2007.

I have no idea what your definition of "not that long ago" is, but in the MMO world, but four years is longer than most MMOs last.

Most things in the store require that you spend $15 to bump yourself up a level to the next reward. The first one is special, just $5.
It actually works different from what you are suggesting.

The first time you buy points, no matter what amount it is, you get a token. Period, end of story. The fact that the smallest point allotment you can buy is 400pp is why people have been conflating that with $5 (400pp costs US$5). Additionally, the 1200pp token is cumulative.

So you can buy $5 and get one token. This unlocks most chat channels.

You can buy $15 and get two tokens (first purchase and purchasing 1200pp). This unlocks the rest of the chat channels.

You can buy $5 and get a token, then buy $5 two more times and get a token (purchasing a total of 1200pp).

You can buy $100 and get 9 tokens (first purchase, and 8 tokens from purchasing 9600pp total [8000+1600 bonus pp]).

    umm AE free?

They got rid of the market license. It's only available now via VIP sub or reward tokens.

I just wanted to point out that you don't need GR to access First Ward. My preemie account bought the First Ward content unlock and my heroes and villains can access First Ward just fine. I simply can't take Praetorians there (since I can't create them), and I can't take side-switched characters there (since I can't side switch).

No, being a Hero is prereq for Vig. Being a Villain is a prereq for Rogue.

If you never become a Villain, your Hero cannot become a Rogue. Likewise, if you never become a Hero, your Villain cannot become a Vigilante.

    Hero <-> Vigilante -> Villain <-> Rogue -> Hero
  17. Why are you perpetuating the problem with the LFG system by pre-forming groups? DfB doesn't require some mystical "perfect" group setup. Any group of players with lukewarm IQs can finish that thing. Queue up, tell other people to queue up, et voila! You are automatically placed in a group that you don't have to micromanage invitations.

The LFG system is there for a reason. Use it! Encourage other people to use it!

I understand pre-forming for iTrials, which can easily be failed without a small amount of balancing. I *don't* understand pre-forming for DfB, which pretty much can't be failed.

/b Queuing Death from Below, a fun lowbie experience with tons of XP - click "LFG" on your chat bar and queue up!
  18. RMT people are LAZY. LAZY LAZY LAZY. If they can't create an account and spam you in the minimum number of steps it takes, then THEY WON'T DO IT. There are other games that are faster, easier, and unrestricted.

City is protected because of extra steps required for RMT to be useful. Only the desperate folks use City for spamming. After all, local is nigh on useless - I don't even have it in my main window anymore; local, help, and broadcast are off in their own little tab where I don't have to see the random jabbering and occasional spam.

Also: regarding the speed that spam accounts are banned, each use of /ignorespammer puts a mark against the account; too many /ignorespammers and the account system will automatigically block the account, and support gets automagically notified. So use /ignorespammer early and often if you see any kind of spam.
  19. Correct, level doesn't matter - even if you are the same level as the star/mission holder, you are still technically sidekicked. Sidekicking is now teamwide, no matter what - you can't refuse to be sidekicked anymore without simply quitting the team.

I spent most of last evening/night running missions as star/mission holder with my fiance and a friend, fiance being the same level as me (level pact) and friend alternating being the same level and one higher (darn XP boosters! ), and I still got the first badge and considerable progress on the second.

(completely unrelated tangent: SPRING ATTACK IS FULL OF FUN. THE FPC [fun per cast] OF THIS POWER IS THROUGH THE ROOF!!!)

Added a paragraph on the Enhancement Booster page:
    Quote:
Boosted enhancements function at their natural level; exemplaring does not break bonuses until exemplared more than three levels below the natural level of the IO, like normal. This means a build with a lot of Level 30 set enhancements that have been boosted can perform on par with or above Level 50 sets, and set bonuses will still function all the way down to level 27. However, the exemplar effect on enhancements still applies, if each individual enhancement portion is large enough.

  22. Boosters do nothing to the level of the IO. They only increase the enhancement value.

Since no one said anything about this yet:

It only takes a bit of time to get the first one (since you have to wait for Countdown to Whatever). After that, you can get one every other day by doing five missions one day, then six missions the next - and the missions are short and simple, and generally fun. And almost everything available via HVAMs is 1 or 2 merits. And the things that are more than that are cheaper by buying a bunch of valuable 1 or 2 merit pieces and selling them, then buying the expensive HVAM bits via market/direct trade.
