    June Comic

Despite all the complaining that went on, I kind of liked the old comic. The stories could have been better, but the characters were so likeable I could tolerate it. I thought the forced and surprisingly darkish, bloody ending was a little incongruous but whatcha gonna do (shrug).

That said, I'm a reader and a good well written story means alot to me. In this respect the new comic just crushes the old. Darkity Dark or no. I'll admit that there are some character inconsistancies between the different CoH media offerings. The abrupt difference between the eager and clean cut Synapse of the CoV trailer who was "All over it , Manticore !" and the sloppy bum who reads porn led to kind of a feeling of disappointment for me and I think MaWeiTao was right on the money when he said [ QUOTE ]
It's the first time seeing these icons on the page and already we see the character flaws. I think it's a bit jarring mainly because they've all been regarded so highly up until now. Although, in some ways I like it because they're more human but it's something I would have worked in more slowly.

[/ QUOTE ] I don't mind character flaws. This is the first time I've heard or seen anything about Manticore really, so his being a bratty, overconfident, rich, bored playboy was totally acceptable as just the person his character was. Although I am a bit diapointed that the "heroes" seem to be dealing with adversity so poorly, I can see how they all feel their entire identity has been ripped out from under them and might have some trouble dealing w/ it so it works. What was surprising to me was how little the members of the phlanax, who presumably have been working together for awhile, seemed to be personally involved with one another. Really, they seemed almost like strangers. Secret identity or no, battle camraderie should have helped them develop something in the way of friendship. Does anybody else think that's kind of weird?
  3. I remember the Ascendant craze - going to see those posts at the behest of a friend was my first foray into the forums. Been stuck doing at least a quick lurk pretty much every day since
  4. Yeah the fact that noone uses the hazard zones is a shame, most of them are visually very cool and the large groups of villians allow for some really exciting battles and uber xp. They were great fun when the game first came out, I could always find a group there. People would get together big groups of 8 and go hunting all the time. Nowadays I can't get a group outside my sg to save my life, for anything . It took me like 2 or three lvls to clear my tv hunt miss's, picking off 30 skyraiders, w/ my blaster that went down in 3 hits, one by one. I saw a few people there, but they all ignored my pleas and declined my invites, running off into the smog alone. How they were soloing it I don't know, I had nearly max debt. I really don't understand it at all- I do have a sneaking suspicion that it might have something to do with the confusing (well to me anyway) but widespread aversion to grouping. It must be, because although I can see travel difficulties disuading ppl from doing something like fault- why else would people stay away from dark astoria, or boom ?
  5. omg this sounds soooo cool ! I'm really excited !

    Thanks States !

(not that I don't like the sims, it's a neat game, and accessible, just don't go around batting about all that
"girls don't play games" nonsense. At least half my girlfriends are gamers, and have been since we were kids. ANd my roomate's an absolute freak for the stuff, she'll kick your *** at doom any day , I mean really, what? we don't like to have fun or something? Seriously if I get p.o'd at my man for playing a game, it's not the game - it's a freaking lack of the basic interpersonal skills to realize that you just invited me over then decided to ignore me for 3 hrs while you shoot [censored] . rude dude! )
