I just received the Top Cow CoH issue #1. All I can say is WOW! Awesome art, great story line tons of action. It felt like the comics I use to read as a kid. Top cow truly did a first rate job on the comic.

I wonder is the in game story line will follow the Comic story line…. Even if it doesn’t I am eagerly awaiting next months issue. Once again awesome job guys.

I agree, the new comic beats the crap out of Blue King's.

Does anyone seem to respect our iconic heroes a little less now? Sister Psyche is a real b****, States has a bit of a superiority complex, and Synapse is a bum. But yeah, this isn't the golden age, I guess they need to be a little more real.

On a side note, do the developers check in on Top Cow to make sure they like the plot now that they are using the Surviving 8?

Yep it makes me want to check out what else Top Cow has to offer in the way of comics. I swear Marvel sucks lately, and DC isn't far behind. I can use more comics like the one I read today.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I didn't much care for it. Manticore's narration sounded too melodramatic. I also found it really hard to like the characters. Statesman was condescending in the fight scene, Manticore seemed only too eager to jump into States' shoes as leader, Sister Psycho wasn't too bad considering what she went through, but Synapse just seemed like a whiney bum. I did like Positron, as he seemed to be the only one of the 'heroes' that actually thought of the others.

I dunno, I hope they back off of the character flaws in following issues and focus more on the Surviving 8 doing daring acts of daring do.

Flame me if you must, but please...

I kinda agree with you here. I based what I said with the belief that this is only a set-up of the plot. If the whole story were like this, well, I wouldnt mind too much if Blue King came back. But as long as the story picks up and the characters go through anger managment, it has the potential to live up to it's namesake.

To me, Marvel is like Metalica, and DC is like Star Wars.

I always liked Metalica's work. Unforgiven is still one of my all time favorite songs. But ever since the original "Metalica VS. Napster" debacle ("we're anti-establishment, man! We're hard rock! The MUSIC is what maters, maaan" "what's that? Thousands of people are enjoying our music without getting them from our major record label? THAT'S AN OUTRAGE!), I've hated them as a band. Same way with Marvel, I like their work, by the as a company have been on my <bleep> list since Marvel Vs. COH started.

With DC, it's just like Star Wars. Star Wars was one of the greates trilogies of all time. The problem is, when they started making the new batch, they infused it with too much of today's ultra-trendy pop-culture, and the result was...less than the original, to put it nicely. With DC, they were, IMO, THE company. Superman. Batman. Wonder Woman. They created ICONS. But ever since they merged with Warner Brothers, they started going slowly but surely down hill, and lately, it's gotten way worse. It's like no one at their company ever READ their old stuff. I've spotted more GLARING continuity errors in the couple years or so than I did in probably the DECADE preceding it.

Am I the ONLY one that really LIKED the Blue King comic? To me, it was great because we could BE these guys. In a few occasions, thanks to contests, we WERE those guys!

The new comic is good, but I liked the Blue King one as well.

Was never a big fan of the Top Cow line, as a whole. I think they were the studio producting Witchblade and The Darkness. Meh.

Some of the more recent Wildstorm stuff (now owned by DC) has been intriguing, though with an erratic schedule. Both "Planetary" and earlier issues of "The Authority" were outstanding.

To be honest, I haven't bought any new comic books in about a year. They were just getting too expensive for subpar stories (mostly). Marvel had a couple of decent titles (Bendis' Daredevil) but had been going the way of DC with their "hip, new" Ultimate titles. BLEH!

DC was also a mixed bag. Some of their Vertigo stuff was fun (100 Bullets, Hellblazer) but I was really in a disconnect with their iconic heroes.

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.

I agree, too. The new one's well-made, but it now looks like 99% of all the other Image crap out there that I've been not reading for the past 15 years.

The old one had a hokey charm. A uniqueness. It wasn't quality, but I'll miss it...

Anyone happen to figure out or know why positron is still "leaking" anti-matter when every other hero (at least those that were shown) lost all of their powers? Shouldn't that be included?

Oh, yes. Go to the Brits for some of the best there is (or was).

Damn I miss Sandman.

As best as I can guess when the deactivation occurred he lost the ability to "contain" the anti matter in his suit, hence the leak. I'll be my two best inspirations that positron is going to mutate. Exposure to that kind of Anti Matter will have to have some type of effect. Yeah, Yeah I know every superpower is deactivated, I believe that about as much as I believe the satester is dead.

Do you realise the flak that actualy folloowing that story would bring about? That would be pretty bol.

Yes, I assisted with the plot and editing.
In addition to that, Jack and the Cryptic Art Director have input on all the content.

No flames, I just disagree, but you have to understand I am a huge Golden/silver age comic fan where melodrama reigns supreme. (Note to me the silver age ended in 1964) It reminded me very much of the original Avengers. I guess I can see where folks who read comics in the 70's 0r 80's wouldn't like this type of comic. I think the comic was awesome, and I hope the game assimilates some of its feel in the storyline.

Heya Manticore. Welcome back

How was E3?

Damn. Why are we in CA always so late in getting the comic. I wanna see it too.

Well, the demo digital files they showed us looked great and story seemed better. Here's hoping.

I'm not saying deactivate all Superpowers. but they can use elements of the story for instanced/epic missions. It would be cool. Okay it would probably suck for those uber gamers that play the game system and not the game (God forbid there leveling be interrupted by something as trivial as story.) But a good part of the community would enjoy it nonetheless.

I'm going to concur. Blue King, especially from issue 8 onward, was a great comic. Issue 12 was great, and I all ready miss them.

May War Witch rest in peace. Also I would team with Apex anytime. Horus can go hang out with all the other dirty yellow squiddy Kheldians.

Thanks!
It was a wonderful madhouse.
Everyone seemed to really have a blast with the Base Raiding and Base Building.
