I'm coming out of hiding to simply say this: I will personally be there to kill every single person dueling there. Dueling belongs in the arena. Mass chaos belongs both in the arena and in the zones.
Actually **** it. I might be there to get my PvPness erect. -
-
Oh ****. Welcome back Essex.
Haven't talked to you in ages. -
**** TWITTER.
Hipster piece of ****.
Hey, I know, lets have a site that I can blog to every single minute of the day because I'm sure people would much rather read my 'tweets' than talk to me in person.
******* piece of **** Twitter. It's ancient technology made hipster garbage by some idiotic hipster who wants to further the degradation of spoken language. **** Twitter. -
((I apologize for not posting sooner / for the ****** post quality yesterday - I was studying for the A+ Cert Exam.))
'I understand. There's little we can do to prevent what already happened. Could you please elaborate more upon the torturing you bit? I'm intrigued.'
Ri sat idly in an office chair overlooking the scene below. He wasn't aware if he should advance now, or simply wait and observe. Slowly he stroked the cherry wood that made up the arm rests, occasionally stopping only to trace back over the elegant designs that were stained into the wood. He wondered who might have sat in this chair before this gas. Perhaps he would never know.
Ri was a man without a childhood, without parents, without memories, he simply existed and always did to his knowledge. All his existence, he paced back and forth inside a mental prison of sorts, each day smiling outward to the world in a welcoming manner only to be shut in longer, only to be accused of some heinous crime. Perhaps he really was guilty deep down? Perhaps he was a monster who blocked out his traumatic childhood, abusive parents, and lack of memories and replaced them with the innocence of youth. The world would never know.
----
"Honestly, and I hate to admit this, two tanks and a barrel full of hell-monkeys aren't going to stop him from finding his sister." The words echoed in her mind endlessly as if searching for some lost memory. Her eyes rolled back into her head as if she were becoming epileptic. However, all signs of life stopped for a few agonizing seconds after this strange event.
"I'm not so sure now. I've already made the boy mad enough with my chatter, if I say anything else, he'll probably torture me again. The pain feels good every once in a while after feeling a lot of nothing, but a couple bits of it here and there are good enough for me." Xi was slowly becoming something not herself, not the young adult Dreg has rescued and rather something that spoke only to speak and nothing more.
She suddenly snapped out of it and simply stared at Dreg. "Something wrong?" Not getting a response she answered the questions Dreg has poised moments before.
"They kind of hit me in waves. I'll be sitting here... and I want to stop but I can't. It's like I forgot how to stop. They're always different... there are two that I have always had. They're named Richard and Tilford."
She seemed to jump at the mention of mind manipulators. "Tilford and Richard always warned me about mind manipulators and how dangerous they were. Do you think that there really is one that's using me? Do you think Richard and Tilford are really mind manipulators?"
All the while, she obediently followed, hanging on to his each and every word no matter how small. -
Quote:So you wish for me to help free you? Break him of his will to live. Make him realize that he is nothing and always was nothing. Eventually, he will break and eventually he will lose his mind then, things may freely come and go from therein. By doing this, you will help me but also by doing this, we must ensure that his sister makes it into the hands of He Who Lies.
"You want to help me? Very well. All you need to do is release me from this boy's soul. How to do that? I've no idea. Go to the Underworld and ask around. After I am free, I will re-pay you with whatever you desire. After I extract revenge on the boy, of course."
After doing this, we must plunge the knife deeper and finally break him. Although, I require his body for something is there a way you can get at him mentally whilst I reinforce you with emotional damage?
Ri could now see them and he knew that if he could see them, they could see him. He only lay in waiting now -- but thats all he really did, so there wasnt much of a difference.
----
Quote:"Oh?" Tienxia uttered. "Well then, 'Man,' it appears that we share a common goal. How much Carmot would you desire if I were to accompany you on your travels? Don't be meek. Greed is natural, and I have plenty to spare.Hysssahahahaha..."
Revelin, work with this wolf but keep your distance. I want to observe it. Try to buy time, as well. Im going to order a quarantine of the sewers and most of the residential area of Kings Row.
----
Quote:Taking his hand from hers he re wrapped it and stood up. "Alright there is more to you then some girl in danger. Tell me everything or go from here alone."
I dont even know why she began to trail off into space and started to cry. "Please don't leave me..."

Flash back to twenty minutes ago
Skjbene was quickly escorted into the toxicology department where a small mountain of documents were laid out on an equally mountainous pile of tables. It would have been a humorous sight if the times werent so life-or-death.
The antidote? Skjbene questioned simply, coolly, and rather unconcerned as if he knew the answer already.
Project Maddox.
Cacophonous laughter erupted, Skjbene smiled, sighed, and announced, who leaked information?
The room and entire lab was silent at the first mention of the word leaked. In their world, leak either meant two things: run, gas is leaking, or someone and their entire family is going to be disposed of very quickly. This case was both, ironically.
Someone had to have leaked it from our lab. No one has even made advances this far into the world of genetic chemistry and engineering. If the gas evolves then its the perfect counter for Maddox, but it also means it was derived from Maddox most likely. Someone had to have leaked. So who?
Finally, someone offered an explanation, perhaps it was the work of a rogue hacker?
This only drove the entire crowd to laughter, after all, the man had been known as a joker.
Skjbene smiled and simply went on his way out of the toxicology lab, back into his private quarters and picked up the red phone that sat idly on the floor for so long.
He spoke three words, quarantine Kings Row. On that cue, thousands upon thousands of men were mobilized. Where from? Who knows.

Oh? Another call to exterminate a planet?
No, not this time. A little bit of quarantine work. Simple, really.
Sounds interesting. Is it urgent?

Theres much you dont understand
I understand. Theyre just mere people, they cant fathom the insignificant meaning they hold.

Quote:Interesting words, but Ri hadn't felt the entirety of the words. Truthfully, he never felt fully in this world since he could remember. He felt as if he were a phantasm, dust in the wind, a hallucination, a product of dreams, a knight in shining armor.
"Do you think this is funny? Do you think this boy is a puppet and you are the master? I hate to inform you, sir, that you are very, very wrong.
"I am this boy's master. I tell him what to do. I say how much power he can use at any given moment. I say what power is best for the moment at hand. I mess with his head. I dictate what goes in and what goes out. I make him angry. I make him sad. I make him my puppet.
"And none of these plans include you. If you do not leave the boy alone, I will find you. And you will feel pain you have NEVER felt before."
'Very well, your decision is simple. I respect your decision but I must tell you this: that man is bad. He is evil. He isn't of this world.
Werther or not these words were true, Ri didn't know. It was the feeling he received. He longed to help Blake, but in reality, he wasn't sure what this voice talking to him was.
The voice could be Blake's or it could be his own mind... or it cold be Ti. No. It couldn't be Ti. Ti didn't give warnings. Or did he in an attempt to throw him off? Ri leaned more towards the voice being Blake's will fighting back, resisting subconsciously, wanting to desperately break free of some form of contract unspoken.
'What if I could help you with your goals? Would you allow me to help you?
Emotions once more were the primary method of contact, as Ri determined that he could influence Blake's emotions directly but not inflict words into him. The mere thought of this provoked endless discussions internally.
Ri kept repeating his previous messages of hope, betrayal, darkness, emptiness, closure, and all the variations thereof in an effort to break through to this man.

Unknown to her at the time, or possibly known but not acknowledged, Xi had attracted the attention of something unwanted, something her medication sought to get rid of, something powerful, wonderful, lustful, something other worldly. -
As Dreg sat down on the roofs ledge she became uneasy. She had a fear of ledges after her attempted suicide after all, what sane person doesnt have a fear of ledges? She winced and timidly sat next to him but a little distance back.
Quote:Oh thats terrible! Why did they destroy your home? Did you get them back? Did It hurt? Xi seemed to be completely interested in the man, genuinely. Perhaps she was mentally ill somewhere along the line, perhaps she was just your typical cliché damsel in distress, perhaps she was simply insane, or even more so, perhaps she was a little bit of all of the above."Just what it means that I'm no longer human. Sometime after the Rikti destroyed my home I was exposed to mutagen compounds."
Quote:He unwraps his hand reveling the twisted scarred flesh that was now his skin. "The real reason I'm dressed like this is this." He shows her his hand. "my entire body is like this, twisted and deformed."
"So what do we do now?"
----
Quote:"It will start to work the very instant its injected." He Who Lies answered swiftly. "It is very efficient. The problem is that it's very abrasive to your veigns, so...after three hours...Just lie down somewhere comfy. You may want something to bite on." He finished, keeping pace with Blake.
Ris voice seemed to scream in Blakes mind.
Ri sensed that they were getting close to Blakes home.
Mislead him. Do not give him power to hurt you by getting to your sister. Find a home, bust the door down, look around, announce that your sister must have went to Longbow take it from there. Im telling you: it will be a mistake bringing him to your sister.
Ri sent a furry of unearthly emotions consisting purely of variations of betrayal, darkness, emptiness, closure, and his personal favorite, hope.
Quote:And then one of his pals shot He Who Lies in the face. The porcelain that covered the lower-right section of his jaw shattered as the bullet impacted, but thankfully deflected. Beneath was a twisted and contorted mess of dark-red skin that seemed to be secreting something green, with folds and furrows that made it clear they were there to stay. Emblazoned and glowing a harsh purple was an arcane sigil.
Blake. Im telling you. Run. I dont like the feeling I get from him.
Xi realized that Blake probably trusted him as much as He Who Lies, but it couldnt stop his heroic heart from trying. Xi looked out and down from a window and smiled crookedly at the large fence. Soon they would be here and he could see for himself just what this man was.

Doctor Skjbene lost track of time and resorted to simply measuring time in the amount of pen flips he did. He began twirling his pen in a very elaborate way only a bored executive could come up with. Then something caught his eye.
Revelin was rapidly approaching the ooze. What form would it take now, he wondered. All in due time.
Oh? A shadow wolf? Skjbene chuckled, interesting. If I saw that thing in person I would think I was on acid.
Skjbene began to bark orders, I dont care how you do it, but get that Vahzilok. Alive or dead. I want to run tests on him to see what it is that were going against. After youre out of this situation, please radio in to transport, give them your position and theyll take over with the extraction. Oh and, try not to die.
He spoke those words so much like a machine he began to question his own flesh. Have I abandoned myself for science?
Fifty-five pen flips have gone by.
Still no word on that vaccine yet. If it works then weve hit the jackpot, I should contact my superiors and begin preparations for a quarantine. -

Quote:"I'm not quite sure. It seems to be almost... organic. If you could collect a sample of it that would be great. ""Hey, Doc, what's that thing?" His childish, inquisitive voice queried, walking nonchalantly toward the ooze with hands now buried in pockets. "Some byproduct of the gas?"
Soon after this statement, Skjbene witnessed the ooze devour the War Wolf looking creature. "On second thought... just trail it. Do not be found."
In response to what happened next he only had one thing to say, "****." He ran a hand through his hair, "go into the sewers and find it. I want to get a sample of that."

Quote:"back when I was human it was simply John. Thought I no longer use that name I'm now Dreg. So what is your name?" Stopping to look about the area seeing the location of the thickets pockets of gas.
Quote:"The person or persons that did this wanted to kill as many as possible but still have control. The gas is mostly in the residential areas. The gas is heavy for gas so it wouldn't be blown away in the wind. My guess is that when the gas settles down it would still be highly toxic. Cleaning it up going to be one heck of a mess."
Quote:He looked at her again "It may even be able to enter a body by touch it's best to get you treatment as soon as possible. So tell me why won't you go to the Hospital right now it be such a rush for treatment I doubt they are doing any background checks."
Not waiting for his answer, she kept trailing along, following him obediently and seemingly to the end. Finally, as if on some unseen cue, she asked, "what do you mean 'when I was human?'"

"Toxicology reports are in. I think you should have a look at this yourself..."
"Can you sum it up quickly first?"
"We have a vaccine for this virus." -
((Nah, it's fine.))
Xi smiled to herself and began diligently following the man who had saved her. "So," she hummed about a third of the way up the fire-escape, "what's your name? I bet it's something beautiful like Cecile or Xavier!"

"Subject has collapsed. Expected to regain consciousness in ten to fifteen minutes, Doctor."
"Basis of this theory?"
"Have faith. He's never succumbed to poison before. What makes you think he will this time?"
"Have you looked at the toxicology reports from his body?" Skjbene threw a jump drive at his assistant. "All the data is on there."
"Those have been delayed -- they might even be left over from previous immunities."
"No. This is something we haven't seen before... or for a long time."

Quote:By this time, Blake had attracted the attention of a voice of his very own. This one was very masculine, strong, skillful, powerful, almost lustful. He liked to be called Ri.Blake reached for the syringe and took a step away before he heard this. He stopped, his eyes widened, and he lowered his hand away from the syringe. His breath sped up just a tad as he started to panic, his hand running through his shaggy hair.
"What am I supposed to do?" he asked helplessly, his hands falling to his sides. "I don't know if she could take that. I mean probably, well maybe, I mean-" his voice rose until he stopped speaking and yelled in frustration, a wave of heat radiating off him.
"I don't know," he offered after a moment. "If you don't happen to have a gas mask on you, I'm taking the needle." Although his voice was strong, his eyes looked at the man slightly apologetically.
'Do not trust that man. By injecting yourself you might have already doomed yourself. I have reason to be suspicious of this man you stand before. I urge you to be suspicious, too. Do not mention me to him -- take the syringe, go rescue your sister, and seek me out. If you value your sister's life: do not let her know of the syringe or the man.'
Ri projected a flurry of emotions on to Blake. The strongest and most re-occurring would be those of brotherly love, distrust, respect, betrayal, hope, love, survival, life, death, and suspicion.
'If you wish to meet up with me before you find your sister, escape this man at once and I will appear. Remember: trust no one. Even yourself. I've seen people lose control of their own bodies. Do not allow this to happen to you. I'm counting on you.'

"Project Maddox is showing vital signs again."
"That's good. To be expected of my work. Administrate adrenaline next time he takes a rest. We don't want his heart to slow the beat until this toxin is clear."
"Understood. Is there any real scientific value to that?"
Skjbene began to laugh. "No. I just wanted to see what would happen if we threw him into over-drive. Maybe he would gain much more muscle mass or maybe he would gain speed. He works rather strangely... right now he's a small child. Who knows what he'll be in an hour."
"Very well." The subordinate left Skjbene alone and left him be. -
Quote:Yes, rejoice for terrible things will indeed happen.
"REJOICE! For terrible things are about to happen! Hyssssahahahahahahaha..."
The voice did not speak but rather reflected it's tone, emotion, pitch, and meaning into pure feeling and unfordable malice, pity, sorrow, happiness, love, hate, fear, pride, life, and death.

((Rotten, you literally gave intro my character for me. I was going to post almost that exact thing to the first person who responded. I hope you don't mind that I run with it. Plus... it sort of goes with her character more this way.))
The bandaged girl turned around and smiled at him. She had the utmost gratitude and respect for this man who saved her. She felt like she was protected by him, perhaps even loved. She felt like for the first time in her life that she was someone worth being.
She quickly discarded her blonde wig to reveal a scalp covered in beautiful grey-brown hair. She shook her head wildly and reached for a Skull's skully to cover her mouth and nose. She couldn't risk something possibly getting through to her. The skully gave her more of an appearance of a rebel rather than a damsel in distress.
"Um..." she coughed and nearly vomited from the poisonous gas. "Can you protect me? I don't feel safe anymore..."
Without pausing for an answer, the girl advanced and gently tugged on the man's sweatshirt. "Please, mister hero, please." Tears were beginning to form in her eyes -- perhaps from the gas, perhaps from being genuinely touched. "I know you told me that I should go to the hospital but I know they wont protect me! You're the only one that can protect me... please." -

Im telling you, footsteps seemed to echo endlessly in these hallowed halls, this is a major chance to test the true adaptively of Project 4D414400. Project 4D414400 is more commonly known as Project MAD mutually assured destruction, Maddox, mad whatever you want to call it.
What is your reasoning behind this, Doctor?
Are you declining the chance to possibly be indirectly responsible for discovering some method of ridding this plague and quite possible 4D41440? That would be a mistake, not to critique your actions as youre clearly my superior in both rank and, well, rank. Further information on Project 4D414400 is classified and for my eyes only.
Answer the question.
Im not used to being denied so I already sent the transport out. Im the senior officer in my division not in the general lab. I merely needed your approval for the equipment I would be sending him for aid. Skjbene laughed to himself. Deception was the best way to achieve his goals.
Very well, pen touched paper, ink left a mark that looked vaguely like authorized. No signature, no initials, just authorized. That one word can make or break an experiment and Skjbene knew it. If his superior had actually read the equipment list he would have noticed that Project 4D414400 was named in the equipment listing.
Fitting seeing as Project 4D414400 was legally the property of Arachnos and Skjbene himself. The Project is seen as nothing more than mere equipment for research and development of new and more powerful weapons and biological terrors.
Thank you very much, Dr. Facade. Skjbene couldnt help but laugh at the irony as he walked down the sprawling hallway and into an elevator simply marked testing. He entered the flimsy elevator that must have been left over from deep-crust mining, quickly entered his five digit password and began the descent

After descending a grand total of three thousand one-hundred and thirty-seven point six feet into the earths crust, the elevator came to a halt. Another five digit password was entered for seemingly no purpose. He stepped out and his feet touched the clean, smooth, almost heavenly floor.
Skjbene ran a hand through his hair and spoke quietly to himself, youre God down here. No one ever hears of you but youre God. Youre important; youre loved even if youre hated. After speaking those brief and creed-like words, he set off towards his personal lab. On his way he encountered only screams, cries of pain, hissing pipes, and cold, almost dead lab technicians performing procedures that would make the scientists at Unit 731 cringe.
Upon reaching his personal and private lab he quickly slipped on his headset and special glasses. These two devices would allow him to directly hear and see in real time what Project 4D414400 saw and heard -

In game with a few of my friends, for some unknown reason, we have to use our game logins to gain login access to the forums.
I'm assuming that this is a bug and will be fixed shortly.
Google Chrome hasn't logged me off yet for those complaining about getting kicked out or logged off. -
I will agree that the old forums were better in their conception but now, think about it. We're in the year 2009. We need to move on and adapt to better, more efficient forum software. UBBThreads was a nice provider, but they offered very little control over the forums. Using what looks to be a custom built .php forum gives the admins much more control over the forums.
I'm sure we'll all get used to it over time. Until then, kick back and enjoy the gradients. -
I'd be interested... but the only thing I have here is a Necro/Dark MM and a leveling Electric/Energy Stalker.

In any case study, the individuals involved MUST be consenting parties to the study in order to avoid any lawsuits from physical or mental duress. From what I understand this wasn't the case. This was an unlawful study with involuntary parties.

Online this is a relative grey area as it is such a new thing. In certain cases, yes you need consent. In other cases, you do not need consent. He did not name anyone explicatively nor did he admit to any wrong-doings of his own so he should be in the clear.
Among the first things you learn when dealing with people is to always have consent. If you do not have consent, then your Ph.D, reputation, job, and money will probably be at risk. As I said before, in my case, I need approval from two federal agencies (tough ones to gain approval for) and explicit waivers and very simple termed release forums.
They go along the lines of "I, ___ agree to x. I will undergo y, z, a, c. I understand that this is for research purposes only and not for recreational purposes. I understand all of the side effects of x. I will not sue [my name], [my university], DEA, FDA, etc."
Only after they have consented to the above, they will be permissible to undergo the therapy and other experiments. I will get both written and spoken forms of consent before each session, etc. The problem with research like that is that everyone reacts differently and there is no such thing as a control for human specimen. Where some might become insane others might giggle. Where some might start crying others may feel love for everything. Some might become afraid, some might be brave. -
As a student working to achieve a MS in Psychology and then ultimately, later to achieve a Ph.D in Clinical Psychiatry, I can say that these projects are quite interesting to undergo and to read the results. It is quite possible that this was his research project for a Ph.D in Sociology or some other study of group reactions and such. Most great sociology research projects are gone and often uncreative people resort to obvious things to research.
My research project will be quite... odd. Possibly needing approval from the FDA and DEA -- as well as needing several waivers and a few hundred multiple choice questions answered. -
