RolePlaying is what you make of it. Some people will hate you for not ALWAYS being in character. Some will hate you because they dont understand when you are in char. A RL friend of mine cant draw a stick figure to save his life, yet he does have a good eye for what Art is. Some people think that working the Stats or Mechanics is a form of RPing.

I had a Hero *ahem* tell me that he knew 5 forms of RPing, and that my inability to kill fast enough is not RPing. I still giggle at that.......5 forms..........hehehehehe.

If that is what the OP really had to deal with......Sounds to me like they were 12 yr olds, and that is the extant of their combined experiences. As it is harder for some to portray a character that is no where near anything they have ever experienced.

Am I defended their RPing.......I guess, kinda.........Cant help but be the Devil's Advocate........Would I have stayed around...????.....Not after asking them to tone the heavy profanity down and them not.......especially if someone thinks they have the right to berate me......You aint my Mother/Wife/Goddess/or King, and I wont tolerate it from them either........but if thats what they call RPing and it makes them happy, well so be it......I still wont be teaming with them at any point in the future.

The members in my SG tell me they never played RPG's growing up. For what I have explained to them, and for how they ( I guess you can call it that.) understand RP, It is interesting.......1 standard that is excepted is RL is considered our Secret ID's. As since we are all adults, and some with children and all with RL responsibilities. That explains that. Whether you wanna talk about it and how is up to those talking. I am the only true RPer in my SG. ( well we have some new members, so we SHALL see.)

"Long day??" Monty muses as he continues to clean up behind the bar. "You look like sum one s**t the beat out of ya." Looking at the purple bruises was disturbing to Monty. It was an interesting contrast to this man's skin. "I gotta say Sun, when yoo bruise, yoo really bruise. Is dat natural fer yer peeple??"

"Lets just say dat sum Nazi Vampires slapped me around like a red headed step child." Tossing a small bag onto the bar, it jingles and spills jewelry forth. Monty looking both ways before snatching up the valuables and stashing them away behind the back bar. "Need ya ta call yur buddy wit da truck. Got a pile of stuff stashed up wit a friend watchin it till he gets there." Slamming back another shot of Yeager and washin it down with Skky, Sun gag's openly. Taking a quickly scribbled address on a crumpled napkin into hand. Monty swaggers forward Walking to the back storeroom. "Yeah, let me call him. Gotta go to the back and get sum beer anyways. Hefting a few cases of beer, Sun walks back to the bar, to hear the start of a muffled one way conversation. Pouring another shot and gagging once again. Closing the front door, Monty starts to lock it wondering what life would have been like if SunRay didnt save him from the Family, and get him outta N.Y. Please God......Dont let him get attacked now....pleasepleaseplease. Turning south to walk home, Monty looks up to see a group of heroes fly overhead heading east. Probly off ta save our bacon from surtain destruction. Buttoning up against the morning wind chill, he starts the short walk home. Very helpful and handy. I am 36 and have had a computer for only 2 1/2 years, and have had to learn alot. With Heroes like you to help the code ignorant savages out there, ( Like Me ) Makes it Soooooooooooooo much more enjoyable.

Had collected comics since I was 3, ( Not that I knew it then ) and still daydream of heroes flying thru Manhattan skyscrapers all the time. I also see Shadowrunners doing thier thing also, but thats another tale. Been playing RPing games since Chainmail, and Champions was my all time FAV. ( Shadowrun also, but thats another tale.) Suffice it to say that the ideas have never stopped. Yet not knowing how to get the computer to do what I want, being unable to speak its language can be AGGROvating. And I have Ideas. If they work I want to share.

please put a listing of the command options to use in the help or sumtin. From what I gather your video making guide is a lil dated with what you have in this posting. Since you have a way of putting it in simple terms, It would be appreciated if you could provide more of your new understanding of demos. Timing, Reference, Command, and Value.....???......A drop down menu....help file....PDF file...???....I dont know what would be easier.

Yo HotLead. Saw that your posting on the info Kiosk. I also have found it hard to find others of like minded crime fighting styles. I usually run with my SG "Life is Debt" buddies and a few members of another SG. We are a Mature group of Heroes saving the World, and Having Fun. We run the streets of Paragon at different times, yet when we run we do so for many hours at a clip. If interested in running together some time, Call my cell when in town.

The way we talk at times is IN character or OUT. Yet we live our characters, so they also incorporate our RL's into themselves. We are of a MATURE bunch. We are Mission oriented. Any punk with a slingshot could streetsweep. Not to say we dont hit the streets. EXP is EXP.

WARNING - WE PLAY HARD. IF YA GONA CRY ABOUT DEBT. GO PLAY YOUR X-BOX. All members help the others and we will help clear the debt. But you will hit the pavement from time to time. If your not willing to get into the heat of it, then we may not be your type.

Inspirations : As one who has played RPG's since Chainmail, Read my first comic at 2 yrs old, and still plays games, the IDEAs don't stop. Playing Champion's the RPG allowed me to truly create SunRay so many moons ago. Hell, I got a milkcrate FULL of Champion characters. Mine, Others ( We each had a copy of all other 's char, just in case someone didnt show up. The team wasnt hurting and they still got a lil exp. I still have the pencil scarred, drink stained destroyed character sheet for SunRay ) Sunray is me back in the day. I had the Mohawk, 14" tall Double Fin and Blonde. So giving it to my character wasn't too hard. Always wanted to fly, still do. Was so hapyy when I heard of the development of this game. had followed up on all info I could find. The original game design for CoH I remember was more based on the Champions/Hero game system. I was in Heaven. Then I find that it just couldnt work with the way computers work, or something like that. (Not a grammer myself, so I don't really know code.) So it becomes what we play now. Cant say I'm in Heaven, But this game is like CRACK.

OK You want a specific character. I created SunRay about what......almost 20 years ago playing Champions the RPG. I have a tattoo of him on my left shoulder blade. I've had to adapt some of his storyline to fit the current situation. After playing the game I have found that as char's go, Blasters seem a dime a dozen while controllers and defenders are always asked to join a team. SunRay is an Alien Fire Elemental, or if you prefer for the moment a mutant blaster that specializes in fire. I have the history, He has Flavor Baby. He talks in brooklynese. You'll love him, Trust me This is my FAV, If I play anyone its SUNRAY. I wish I could have Grammers make Sun's arch nemesis, see what they do with it. Thats what this game needs, All heroes have an Arch nemesis, Oh wait......sigh.......gotta stop thinking this is Champions RPG......Sheesh

When I had written that post earlier I was Soloing the Positron TF. having been so high from finishing it, I had decided to relax and sit at the feet of Positron, and relish in my victory. Now so you know my char's SG is called "Reality for Roleplayers".Someone had seen it and started to harass me about joining. he plays for 12-18 hours a day and knows 5 types of roleplaying. As i talk to him in local and private chat, ( Local/Team = in game, reality = private or whatever among friends ya know.) Trying to eat my Ralph's cherry Icee, and explain the Diff between talking in 1st person and 3rd person. I get a tirade a profanity from a 15 yr old about my char sitting there and not killing. I'm not roleplaying by sitting there, Your a *&%$#@*&%$#@ Liar. This is what you call RPing, @#$%^&*&^%$#@. As 1 who has just played the Positron TF for 2 days solo with 3 hours sleep, repair a van, do a moderate landscape planting job and SOLO the TF. I truly wonder why I try at times, Why do I bother. Yes My Drow Healer 16 SOLO'd the positron TF, (except for the 1st mish. 3 had bailed during the 1st mish. the other 4 left after killing Epidural.) Got the pics to prove, just I have no place to post them. More than happy to send to though.....

I love the idea of the Voip. it makes more sense, as I am not a great typer. Also when you are in combat it is not easy to start typing "over to the right" and such. I also think it would be funny the male voices playing female char's. Since I am from NYC, I pretty much speak Brooklynese, yet 1 of my char's is supposed to be from New Orleans. I can type brooklynese, I cant type southern drawl. I can vocalize the accent, not easy to type though. And as a long time RolePlayer I have always found it a lil funny when certain people play certain roles. Yet if they play it well, it works so good. No matter who plays the role.
You say you are interested in getting a RolePlaying group with Voip. I am so down with that. Need a new headset, Yet Yes. Quite interseted also in the voice altering program NinjaX had mentioned. That would help the illusion, since I also am a man with a rather deep bassy brooklynese accent and 3/4 of my characters are female. I mostly play on the Guardian server yet will redo my 2 primary's on another server

As a RolePlayer since D&D was in pamphlet form and called Chainmail, I have been waiting for this ( or something like this for well over 30 years.) with great anticipation. As far as RolePlaying is concerned, most I have encountered wouldn't know how to RolePlay even if you paid them to go to ACTING school. Key point - ACTING. Your character has no knowledge of the game mechanics, You do. So have your character talk as you would talk ( Do you talk to others about the physics that effect your average day.). This helps give your character a lil more flavor. Also, I am in complete agreement with the others. Must give your Character a history, a Background. Something that helps seperate your character from the next MooK that made the same costume,name,etc. 9 out of ten I encounter have no Bio Info, So Sad. So Very Sad.......
I mostly play on the Guardian server. Yet I find myself so jaded with trying to team that I have decided to prove 1 can solo in this game. I find it so hard to deal with the players who don't RolePlay, or cry about RolePlaying. Or worry more about the game mechanics and the debt. I have 1 thing to say to that...... Go Play Your XboX. Not that i want debt, yet it will happen no matter how hard you perpare not to die. Kinda like life. My primary character Xxx SunRay xxX's SG is called " LIFE IS DEBT ".
My advice to you is give your character a history so you know where they came from, which will give you a better idea where your going. If your interested in hooking up or need a hand,message me thru the forum or find me on Guardiana as any of the below.....
