Yeah, well whatever the case. I'm finding it incredibly hard to delete my characters right now, and am incredibly upset.... feels like my dog just died.

With more and more games growing notoriety from their PVP scene alone to name Starcraft, and League of Legends alone, City of Heroes really disappointed me with absolute lack of focus on PVP at all which brings more and more hardcore players into the scene. I truly believe it would have saved this game. To be competitive in today's market, YOU NEED PVP! It is a fact for any mmo! To do it in such a half *** manner and expect us to be okay with that, while the majority were grinding content inevitably to regrind the same content over and over.
PVP is the absolute best end-game in any game. If we are ever so lucky as to get a City of Heroes II in the future, start with PVP in mind. Diablo 3 is falling apart because PVP is missing.
On a lighter note, this is my first ever MMO and I am incredibly sad to see it go. It's odd that I almost feel like I want to cry even though I hardly play anymore. I was 17 when I bought this game, now 23, I am deeply saddened and thank the devs for their efforts. Thank you all City of Heroes community. I hope you understand where I am coming from. As of right now, I am logging into the servers to personally delete all of my characters. I think I owe it to myself. -

Quote:Very good analysis lol. You hit my actual def numbers on the head. But in actual gameplay there are things which aren't factored here some of which cannot be.I'll quickly take an estimate on how survivable I think he is. I don't think it's as much as people think.
Using some of my EA builds as examples, with Overload he probably has somewhere around 110% to 130% for all types. So I'll use 120% for everything. That means he has 54% defense in RV.
Let's assume a blaster with 100% accuracy in bonuses and 66% acc in an attack from a glad set. This means 1.66x ACC for that one attack, DRed to 1.23x for that attack. 30% Elusivity hits it down to 0.86x Acc.
I didn't see any -tohit debuffs coming from Ares so we won't factor any.
The blaster has Kismet and Tactics. Tactics gives 11% slotted, 10% after DR. That's 16% tohit in total, DRed to 13%. (Combat attributes would say 88% tohit).
The equation would look like
=Acc*(Basetohit-Defense+Tohit)
=(1+0.86)*(50-54+13)
=1.86*9
=16.74% Chance to hit
Let's say they pop 2 yellows for an extra 15% tohit
16%+15% = 31% tohit DRed to 20% tohit
=(1+0.86)*(50-54+20)
=1.86*16
=29.74% Chance to hit
This is the same as Ares having 70% res to everything (including unresisted procs), but he also dodges all effects at the same time.
When the blaster uses a 5 slotted Aim with adjusted targeting, he gets +55% tohit. With only kismet and tactics, he'll get 55+16 = 71% DRed to 27.7% tohit. (Combat attributes would say 102.7%)
=1.86*(50-54+27.7)
=1.86*23.7
=44% Chance to hit
That's the same as 56% resistance to all while a well slotted blaster uses Aim.
You also have to factor the fact he has 2404 HP from overload, that he has rebirth and energize as heals and gets +regen from each of them as well, and he has a lot of ranged attacks that will add up.
The fact that a really good blaster can kill an invul brute in unstoppable, sitting at 3202 HP with 85% res and more regen than an EA scrap tells me there are doms and blasters that could kill him, even if they didn't use psi.
Lastly, here's a secret. If you look at his EA shields on Red Tomax, they're all set to stop giving him DDR while held/stunned/slept. This means, when he's held, all his DR (except overload) disappears. He'll only resist about 30% of the defense debuffs. That means telekinesis + defense debuffs (clicks not toggles) could potentially really harm him.
Blaze mastery also means he doesn't have targeting drone or FA to resist tohit debuffs. I think a good Dark/Poison/Psychic could beat him, but I don't have one. A good Dark defender would have a nice chance too. Good luck with the fights.
tl;dr Just the last 2 paragraphs.
Incarnates play a big part in it. (I've fought many dark/poisons. even ones with psy mastery, and iv'e drawn and won.)
Also I have tough, though I could have phase shift.
When a blaster hits aim or BU I generally put on my nikes and break LOS
Though I am very curious to see how these matches continue to play out. -
-
So some of you have seen me, others have fought me, and well I have been getting a lot of crap for using overload, for not using CS, for being ranged lol.
Basically I am giving an open challenge to all ranged toons (on the count of I severely doubt any melee toon can kill me as I kite.)
Since technically I am a melee toon, I am giving this challenge because no one seems to think it is worth rolling any sort of melee toon. I'd prefer not to fight psy based toons as EA has a huge psy hole but I am completely open to anyone.
Just looking to test the limits of this toon.
Rules are:
Cargo Ship
No ts
No hd
No lore
10min
small insp.
You know what I am, so let me know what you are. I've done a few "mystery" matches where someone knows who I am, but I have no idea what i'm fighting and slot very basic and it always ends in a draw. -
I'll re tackle it completely and actually fill in all the gaps later today. And in a PVPers mind we see PVE and PVP so the analogy is incorrect on that grand-scale but that is unimportant. I have a few things i need to do today, i'll break it down though.
-
An appropriate analogy would be to get them in a different method involving PVP and taking a similar amount of time. Is it possible to make a suggestion without 30 people making assumptions founded in nothing as i never said the trials would take less effort or time.
-
I see the problem. I should have said "trials" not itrials. I have just grown to call all trials itrials but i'm referring moreso to the trial format.

Quote:I did address all of this, but it probably got lost in all of the fuss. For one, the accolades aren't to be tied to ALL trials present and future, nor are all accolades necessarily to be included. Simply put, most if not all accolades are to be tied to specific tasks via trials, whether that be incarnate trials or future trials as an alternative route to obtaining them.I'm going to add in my vote for "no" and "this suggestion doesn't make a lot of sense." Strictly looking at the hero accolades for examples, the accolades are obtained for performing specific in-game tasks. Task Force Commander, for example, is all about completing each of the Freedom Phalanx task forces. The reason is for you to experience that content. Whether we feel the task forces are boring or not is irrelevant (but I do agree, they all need updating). The reason still stands; the devs gave us a reward for seeing and completing all that content, and the in-game story for such an accolade is that you completed each of these "difficult" tasks the Freedom Phalanx tossed at you, earning you the Task Force Commander accolade. I do no see how it makes any sense that, as a secondary route, for you to earn such an accolade by completing the unrelated Incarnate Trials. That content has nothing to do with the Freedom Phalanx task forces and has all of its own in-game accolades associated to those accomplishments.
Also, something like Task Force Commander is nearly set in stone as the Freedom Phalanx task forces were in the game before the accolades were. But, the Incarnate Trials? We are having one added with every issue and nearly every half issue, with a long way to go with 5 as-of-yet unlocked incarnate slots. In your suggestion, how do you account for new trials added? Do we take away your accolade until you fulfill the "new" requirements of now having to have completed the Diabolique trial when it comes with Issue 22? There's a lot of holes in this suggestion.
Let's take Geas for Example. Instead of going through Croatoa hunting Jack, etc etc, there is a trial set up where you must defeat both GMs as deal with Mary, all the while fighting off the minions of Croatoa. It seems quite a bit more exciting than just hunting and running khtf. Maybe even keep the KHTF after, but i'm just giving an idea.
It seems TF commander is the only one that wouldn't "make sense" which is the least of my worries in a game where I play for F - U - N! But regardless it doesn't have to be included. Just fix those extremely boring repetitive TFs. -
Look this turning into an uneccessary flame war. I respect your opinions and I have stated that accolades are currently easy and I have setvaside farms to gain them, this still does not take away from the one and only reason i dislike them which is boredom.
-
Glad someone without an understanding of anything being said spoke for me. Firstly nowhere did I say one trial unlocks anything. I'm simply proposing that most if not all accolades are incorporated into current and or future trials NONE of which have to be incarnate trials but a series of trials specifically for current accolades as an alternative route to the 1 or 2 we have in place. If you needed me to clarify for you, you should ask instead of making unfounded conclusions which speaks to your own comprehension.

Quote:Pleeeeease do not compare incarnate trials to grinding for accolades. As it stands there are currently 6 incarnate trials which leaves you six paths for obtaining incarnate powers as opposed to accolades where you have "2" and I quote because going redside JUST for accolades (A nearly 4 day process) is even more ridiculous than just doing them blueside. We also know that the devs intend to add more and more incarnate trials, and have been doing so every issue and sometimes half of and issue. As it stands, we are getting a solo path. So your comparison of incarnate trial "grinding" to accolade grinding is unfounded. You like to misread things. That's cool. Good for you.
Ah, so mature. You get all personal, when I said nobody cares in a general sense. In other words, the devs don't care. Perhaps I should have worded it more carefully so as not to hurt your feelings?
Like how some people hate grinding incarnate trials, but do them anyway to get the powers? -
You obviously misread or didn't read my last post. Also, I said hostility not because you disagreed but because of the way you worded it. Taking from your style, no one cares what you think, there are more important things and this game than an accolade making sense. I don't know, there's this thing called fun. Sorry if you don't play for fun, and you like wasting time, and you like grinding, some of us however would rather just have fun.
-
Quote:Once again misplaced hostility. No on cares? Lol, ridiculous. As far as " easier" the accolades r extremely eaaasy to get. I even have farms for the harder ones. The fact is it is all really boring. Sorry for suggesting the accolade system gets a revamp like the rest of the game has been getting slowly but surely. No one would die if accolades could be obtained via an alternative route, so quit acting as if the world just ended. Your playstyle would remain unchanged. Id rather have to do ten different trials for accolades than get them in the current boring fashion. After your 30th toon it kinda just becomes silly. An accolade, in the context of this game, is an award given in acknowledgement for having performed a certain task. Now tell me, these accolades...why would it make sense to have one set of specific unlock requirements on one hand, and then for no reason at all give the same award for an unrelated task?
Nobody cares that it would be easier for you. Being easier is irrelevant when discussing the acquirement of accolades, which are supposed to be challenging to get. You want the badge, you work for it.
If spending a couple days working on it is really all that hard for you, switch over to redside. The redside accolades can be gotten in 2-3 hours of work, and they convert to the blueside bonuses when you switch back over. -

Quote:Are you aware of how expensive pvp toons are? While my idea of fun may involve high level pvp i can assure you that i have never had more than 3 fully " tricked out" pvp toons at once and currently have one. Not that this has to do with anything and i suggest you reread my last post i dont mind time the pure and utter boredom is what ails me. Your hostility is misplaced. If the game to you is all about making sense, and fun (lets see how many fully tricked out pvp toons you have btw, since you just play for 'fun') then what is the problem? Less than a week to gain some Accolade powers that really improve a character. Surely it makes SENSE that something like that takes awhile to get?
And if you are going to bring time issues into it, then it goes BOTH ways. Mender Ramiel, at the end of his arc, tells you that you will be taking the long, slow path to incarnate power. Key words, long, slow.
Then WHY can we get all of the current incarnate powers (assuming hardcore playing and a lot of luck) in less than a day?? Less than a day is a long slow time? Does not make much 'sense' to me. Clearly, by your argument, you think we need limits of the amount of incarnate powers we can earn in a given time? (more than we already have obviously) -
Because making sense is the most important thing in this game. I'm more concerned with fun as this isn't my life. All the same it took me far less than a week to get my accolades it was just incredibly stupid. Also have you noticed that you cover quite a few of the portal jockey avs and eventually quite a few will probably become " all". Not that big of a deal just a valid suggestion from a real gamer. I dont roleplay but i respect those who do and can see why the community s things a certain way. God i wish i were a roleplayer and not a pvper... We have it the hardest and no one cares not even the devs. Bleh

Without removing the current method it would be nice to have an alternative, which never hurt anyone. I personally don't see why anyone would be opposed to it. The thought came to mind recently when I ran an accolade team and thought "hmm, this system seems very dated" and it is. I mean , the old tfs are tedious. Look at citadel same exact map over and over and over. Id rather have to complete all incarnate trials than those extremely dull tfs. Itrials are fun and forgive me for playing a game for fun, I realize thats just not the case for some people. Also having itrials as an alternative still allows lowbies to obtain the accolades.
-
Title says it all. I feel the current system in place is a bit dated. Having to complete specific incarnate trials for accolades would be more appealing and less grindy to players. It seems adding this to new or current itrials would go more with what we are doing currently in CoH
-
Is it possible to get the arc at 50 to unlock her?
Also, what is the best way to get 200 masks and 100 illusionists? -
How do PVE players always find their way to our PVP forums >.<
-
Yeah I ran a psy/poison for a while, it is nothing special solo, but as neeto said, good for teams. Blaster is your best bet for certain if you're more solo oriented.
