My closing thoughts...

With more and more games growing notoriety from their PVP scene alone to name Starcraft, and League of Legends alone, City of Heroes really disappointed me with absolute lack of focus on PVP at all which brings more and more hardcore players into the scene. I truly believe it would have saved this game. To be competitive in today's market, YOU NEED PVP! It is a fact for any mmo! To do it in such a half *** manner and expect us to be okay with that, while the majority were grinding content inevitably to regrind the same content over and over.
PVP is the absolute best end-game in any game. If we are ever so lucky as to get a City of Heroes II in the future, start with PVP in mind. Diablo 3 is falling apart because PVP is missing.

On a lighter note, this is my first ever MMO and I am incredibly sad to see it go. It's odd that I almost feel like I want to cry even though I hardly play anymore. I was 17 when I bought this game, now 23, I am deeply saddened and thank the devs for their efforts. Thank you all City of Heroes community. I hope you understand where I am coming from. As of right now, I am logging into the servers to personally delete all of my characters. I think I owe it to myself.

A focus on PVP wouldn't have saved the game. At best, it'd increased the playerbase a bit (at worst, it'd have alienated a large portion of the existing base), but certainly not enough to counter any of the theories as to why CoH got the shaft.

Yeah, well whatever the case. I'm finding it incredibly hard to delete my characters right now, and am incredibly upset.... feels like my dog just died.

Don't delete them. Let them ride the servers off into the sunset. No point in doing any less, IMO.

Well... perhaps I was premature about that whole 'signing off' thing... - 11-9-2012
