  1. Thank you so much for letting me know about this!! They've requested a game advisor report from my husband's computer, which does not have this problem, so maybe that will help them with their work on fixing it. And I can relax and not worry, knowing it'll get fixed eventually, it IS being worked on.

Although, I feel bad for all the techs that worked on my ticket so far, they don't seem to be aware that the problem is out there, or that it's being worked on overall, so I'll let them know when I send in the report.

I feel so claustrophobic in those squished screens now, I've had a widescreen monitor for too long now heh!
  2. I have a monitor that's 16x9 and usually runs at pretty much max resolution. I have my COH game set to the SAME resolution. I've trie changing it, and it doesn't change this problem at all.

So far, the only screens that run full side-to-side (16x9 ratio) are:
    normal gameplay
    Level Up
    Enhancement management

Screens running in the smaller ratio (4x3 ratio) are:
    Tailor
    Character creation
    Login
    Server Select
    TOS agreement
    Character Select

So, I load the game, and the title screen is cut off on the sides, at 4x3 ration, leaving blank black space on the sides. ALL screens until the actual game starts, are at 4x3. Once I'm in the game, it fills the monitor, and looks normal. My husband has the same PC I do (good deal at costco, we got two), and his doesn't have this problem.

Anyone else have an issue like this? I'm working through a support ticket, but their process is nightmarishly slow and pedantic (Have you tried changing the resolution and restarting the game? Why, of course not, oh, wait, yeah, like five times, and it didn't help. Next idea?)

Anyone have any ideas? Suggestions? I'm still going to keep the ticket going, and I'll share if I have any success.
  3. Mine did the same thing - wouldn't launch a second time - but that seems to be fixed as well, without the Autostart thing.
  4. Good news - setting mine NOT to auto start with windows seems to have fixed it - apparently it's something about the auto start that is causing my problem. If I start it MYSELF, it seems to work just fine.
  5. I'm doing this fresh from a clean boot, after waiting for everything to finish loading, machine idle, nothing else open/active (aside from normal background stuff, same as I've ALWAYS played it)

I never had this problem before I joined the VIP beta, and even after I uninstalled the beta stuff, it's still giving me trouble. I don't always get the permissions window, now, either, if I end the process, it just loads up beautifully. But WHY do I have to end the process?

I'm going to try setting it NOT to load automatically when windows starts, (which is how I've had it since day one, and no problems till NOW), and see if changing it helps.
  6. This is the only solution? (I've searched... it's the only one I've found) but this is ridiculous. I have to double-click the launcher, wait, open task bar when it doesn't come up (and it never does now), then end the process, and start over.

    EVERY.

    TIME.

It's a handy work around for a sporadic inconvenience, but where's a real solution?

    NCSoft, I'm looking at you...
  7. We JUST came back to CoX after a few months away, and for the first time ever, we're having serious graphical issues.

I read all I can find - well, I read A LOT, and I see a LOT of people having similiar issues. We have the same PC, my hubby and I, it was such a good deal, we bought two. They have ATI Radeon HD 5400 video cards, and quad core processors, with Windows 7.

We're getting the Black screen flashes, especiallywhen you click on a menu, like to access info on another character, or the menu under the compass, with badges and contacts, and whatnot.

We DID try upgrading our video driver (I thought that would fix the black screen flashes), but we had to roll back to the old driver, because no matter what we tried with the new driver, CoX wouldn't launch. The launcher came up, you launch the game, and as soon as the "loading" bar popped up, the game crashed. EVERY time. Rolled back the driver, and it worked again.

I've seen various fixes mentioned, but almost all are followed by "EDIT: Nevermind, it's still doing it"

I'm posting to both say "Hey, we're having this problem too!!" and also in hopes that maybe SOMEONE has come up with some kind of working solution or reccomendation... maybe?
  8. We just cycled through all the other servers.. and realized that we just don't play on any other server except Virtue.

    All my stuff's there.

    and Arthur.
  9. I wanted to watch this, but I keep getting a wierd error that crashes my router, of all things, whenever me or my husband tries to load the page.

Never seen anything like it. Thing works totally fine until one of us tried to load the page.
  10. This isn't a specific reply, more of a question that I have been wondering over, something that I can't help but want to ask.

Does anyone else find that a lot of people they meet that claim to be "roleplaying" seem more like they are looking for an audience, or for you to be all impressed or something, rather than just talking and acting as if they were a real person (as defined by their background/concept)?

I seem to run into these bozos everytime I go looking for RP. People that want you to stand/sit around and listen to them talk, or who seem to get angry when you don't "pick up the bait" and ask them all about their characters (even if doing so is out of character for YOUR character), or people who get mad when you can't ignore that they chose a name that a real hero would find strange or downright embarrassing/humiliating (and I'm not saying I pick on them or make fun of them, but you call your self something ridiculously stupid, you can't blame me for asking you about it).

I just wonder about this, as I seem to find a lot more of this behaviour here in CoH/V than I did in EQ2. Granted EQ2 lends itself more directly to serious, realistic RP, or at least, I saw it there a whole lot more than I have here.
